A package sent by my mother was coming to San Diego from east coast . It shipped to San Diego and then ended up in Illinois lost in a distribution center since January. I filled a help request form. Was left a Voice mail it was found and issue was resolved. I lt was shipped back to San Diego and then within 24 hours ended up back in another state. I was provided a phone number and no one ever answered. Finally got ahold of someone and was repeatedly asked "where the package was in Illinois and why was it shipped there". Very frustrating and accusing. I do not know anyone from Illinois. Finally on feb 12 the package showed up destroyed and contents in it broken, smashed and crushed AND items missing . It was wrapped in plastic. Therefore US post office was aware content was falling out and box was destroyed in transit. I wish i used UPS or Fed Ex. read more

Given the amount of funding that the USPS receives, I feel that they are definitely doing their best. I do admit I had to wait a bit to receive the package that I was given a notice for, but upon meeting a staff member, they were courteous and kind, and timely with retrieving my mail/package. From what I could observe, it seemed to work like a well-oiled machine in the back, and I for one am grateful for the work they do - rain or shine. I was satisfied with the service I received and the upkeep of the place did not impact the service or the business that I had with them. read more

This place is a joke. Mail not delivered, no notice. Had to go to the company to find out where it is and they said it was delivered. Had to track down the shipping only to find the postal worker was too lazy to deliver it to the door so took it back to the post office. Didn't attempt a 2nd delivery and again, gave no notice so the package is nearing the send back date. Bundling the community mailboxes together in fewer locations has made them lazy, being a government worker has made them unaccountable. This is why people hate government. ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY but you are paying for their superior pensions. Now, they won't even pick up their phones to confirm the package is there. read more

This specific location needs to be investigated by whoever is responsible for the regulation of USPS facilities because they are commonly losing packages and do little to nothing to assist when confronted and asked for assistance. I personally have had 3 packages listed as delivered to my mailbox with no package in my mailbox or in a package storage locker. I have had to hound USPS mail carriers and persuade them to check their storage lockers and this doesn't always help because, by then, a neighbor has already taken the package. Their supervisors are also horrible and providing updates. My advice to anyone reading this is to just request/pay the difference to have UPS or FedEx deliver directly to your door. USPS is definitely not reliable and their staff are nowhere near as competent as they used to be. read more

I have to tell that customer service has improved a lot in this office and that employees are super friendly and helpful. I am not used to send packages and was unsure what box to buy and what wrapping was needed. Also I did not know how to operate the DIY machine, so one of the employees was going through each person in line asking what kind of service they needed and then redirecting people to different employees to expedite the situation. She accompanied me to the self service machine and taught me how to operate it. Very useful, then I won't need to be in line anymore. It tend to be a very busy post office, so we customers also have to have some patience considering they are not many people working there. read more

Seriously the WORST. This location is only for package pickup which makes it convenient for when needing to get your package and go... you would think. I received a pick-up slip in my mailbox as they were unable to deliver without a signature. It was dated 4/23, I received it 4/25, and went to the postal annex on 5/1. The slip said if not picked up they would return to sender on 5/3. I arrive and the lady at the door is unable to find it. She says she'll write my number down and ask the carrier where it is. I ask, "What if I don't hear from you, because this happened to me last time and I never heard anything back?" Then she wrote down the number to the USPS consumer affairs saying I could call them. Friday 5/3 passes and I figure it's lost again like last time, since I didn't hear anything. But I called on 5/6 to follow up and it just rings forever with no answer and no way to leave a voicemail. I try 3x. Finally I call consumer affairs and he basically tells me to call then postal annex. I explain. He said he'll call them and reach someone then call me back. I'm leary, but ok. He actually calls back but tells me they stated they returned my package to sender since it was never picked up. Are you * KIDDING me?? So I tell him again that they never called me and said they couldn't find it so how could I pick it up? He said he didn't know but that's what they told him and to call them again if I had questions. Basically he was trying to get me off the phone instead of assisting to resolve my issue. I call the supervisor and she tells me the same thing and sort of apologizes but is more like, we sent it back oh well. She asked who assisted me and based on my description she said she didn't work there anymore and failed to call me. No apology for this. I ask what I'm supposed to do and she doesn't really have an answer for me other than it was sent back. YES, because when I went you couldn't find it and never let me know you had it! This happened to me before at this location and they were time sensitive escrow paperwork that they couldn't find. I ended up having to go all the way to Bonita so I could complete the paperwork without them sending (and getting lost) again. The place looks run down and it's just a small dark room with a half door. No one mans the window so when you arrive there's always a long wait. Once they do, if they ever do, you're met with a stoic face as if you're bothering them. If those were the only cons I wouldn't mind, but I've had to pick up packages here about 3x and they've only had my package once. 1 out of 3 isn't exactly the best odds. They don't even have a process to document if you attempted to pick it up so basically this place is pointless. Avoid at all costs but you pretty much have no choice if they're being used to deliver/lose your package. read more

ONLY PICK-UP LOCATION: This review is for the pick-up only location at Bernardo Center Drive where we are required to pick up parcels; the one with the customer area the size of a large closet and one "window" which is actually the top half of the door which is always closed, and one rings a doorbell and waits for someone to open it. Although this appears to be a pick-up only location (no other postal business), I don't recall ever having a smooth and efficient pick-up here. This location appears to have multiple one star reviews. The higher reviews are describing or posting photos of the small post office several blocks away in the strip mall. Two completely different places and levels of service!!! This is a dysfunctional operation that needs a major system overhaul to make it efficient, as well as employee training in customer service. Unfortunately USPS has a monopoly, which is undoubtedly the reason for such a high degree of incompetence, and possibly a lack of motivation. NO NOTICES CAUSE RETURNED/LOST PARCELS: On multiple occasions parcels which I haven't picked up, (because I was never notified they were there) were sent back! This has ruined Christmas surprises, caused me to pay shipping charges twice, and caused untold grief. I was expecting a parcel yesterday; when it didn't arrive I checked the sender's tracking which said it's being held at the post office "on customer's request" - a request which I never made! No notice was provided from the post office. BOGUS HOURS ON RECORDING: Also the phone message says they open at 7:30, but the door sign says 8:30. So based on that, I rescheduled an electrician so that I could go pick up the parcel, but when I arrive at 7:30, I find out I'm an hour early. This seemingly small lapse caused a domino affect to my day which also affected sequential appointments with others! And I still don't have the parcel!!! WON'T ANSWER PHONE: I called multiple times, the message says "someone will be with you shortly" and to please stay on the line; phone rings several minutes then goes to a busy signal. Pressing a menu key option is a circular dead end. It appears to me the phone system is designed to avoid having to be inconvenienced by having to do customer service. Do not be confused: there is the US Post Office down the road by the Fire Station and there is this one tucked away in the corner of a strip mall on Lomica. I like this one a lot. Mainly because it has parking immediately out in front and is easy to get in and out of. Also, there is a copy machine where you can make copies for .10 cents each. No change given. Most Post Offices got rid of their copy machines years ago. Lots of people apply for passports here at this location. It can get busy around noon when all the nearby workers run around on their lunch breaks doing errands, mailing packages and rushing around. Postal workers here seem to be of more good cheer than your usual mail shuffler. The lady who sold me stamps this afternoon told me I smelled good--like cigars. I found that random but nice. I think she meant incense. Yes, lots of prosperous RB seniors seem to be customers here but they are not surly, huffy oldsters and seem to be of a pleasant demeanor. Worst manager, Juanita Johnson, and supervisor, Nick. I spoke to Nick first to problem solve why I wasn't getting my mail after one month of living here. Mind you, I was NOT being rude or yelling. When he actually said directly from his mouth that his postman has 1,000 mails to deliver and do not have the time to sort out mail, I asked him, "so how does he find the time to reject my mail when it has my address on it? Do you see why I'm upset here?" (All he has to do is put it in the mailbox) He bluntly answers, "No!" And continuous, "we've been talking for 20 mins now, so what do you want me to do?" This made my blood boil as he, after 20 mins of talking about how the mail system works and why my mail wasn't being delivered, and then telling me that his postman has no time to sort out 1000 mails to deliver my mail to my mailbox with my address on it! He basically pointed it to his "effecient" postman who did not want to place my mail in my mailbox because he "doesn't recognize the name." But has not time to sort out 1000 mails. I asked for a manager, he said he's the supervisor. So I asked for his last name, and he hung up. I called back and Juanita Johnson answered with an attitude and told me she listened to my conversation with Nick and said "I am not having this, I'm going to call the police and the postal inspector.." Postal carrier at this location have no accountability of their jobs. Yesterday I received a notice in my mailbox but no other information of what package the notice is from. In my opinion the postal carrier is covering their mistake, he or she put the notice in an incorrect mailbox and that's why you will see two sets of ink on the notice. When the postal carrier is writing these notices they have the package on hand, for accountability they can write the tracking # the package relays to so it's easier for residence to track and get help. There's no excuse if my mailbox is full, on this case it was not since it's not my mailbox the notice was left. In my community we have a parcel locker and concierge package where these 2 options was available for package seI'm filing a complaint with USPS for the postal location Manager is no help. All things considered as this is a US post office aka government employees, this place isn't so bad. The staff are friendly enough and do their best to get you in and out. Lisa is a peach. The one annoying thing is they have someone that comes to see what you're there for while standing in line. It's like, I know how to mail a package. I don't need you hovering around, causing confusion, ma'am. The parking lot is a bit of a headache as it's busy and this is Rancho Bernardo, so it's seniors galore. read more

Tanya (supervisor) was working the line of people and helped to expedite the situation. She was kind and friendly and working very, very hard. Went into the RB post office (the one next door to Urge Gastropub, not the pick-up only on Bernardo Center) to drop off a package that was being shipped to Singapore through Ebay....the man assisting the lady in front of me sounded like the friendliest man in the world when he spoke. "Alright ma'am! And thats going to be .95 cents for you today!"....a minute later, I walk up, the same man (approx. 50 year old man), does not even greet me. I place the package on the counter and, with a smile, say, "jus need to check this in, on it's way to Singapore."...Again, man does not say a word, or make eye contact, he just attempts to scan the printed label...as he has difficulty scanning, he says "you know, the whole reason we give you a discount online, is that I don't have to assist you"........ WHAT.....YOU DONT HAVE TO ASSIST ME?! You mean scan a barcode and hand me a receipt???? Is your job that hard? First of all, that is not why they give you a discount. What if the weight I entered is too low and you have to charge me the difference? Do I really need to explain to you, the man working IN a post office, the REASONS for checking-in a package instead of just dropping it off???? I did not show any emotion towards the man after he spoke the way he did. I simply replied "I do not understand, I do this all the time online and when I drop packages off, the tracking does not appear for days." Again, does not reply, or make eye contact, just prints my receipt and hands it to me. NEVER have I felt so disrespected. I couldn't and still can't understand the reason for such rude service? I work nearby and ship weekly, sometimes more often, so I've had plenty of experience with this location and their level of customer service is not remotely acceptable. They have a serious beef with anyone who prints labels online and drops off packages in person, as if the need to track a package and obtain a receipt for it was a personal insult to them and that you being there in the first place is a complete hardship. Really. The first time I had an issue it was because I had (god forbid) taped over the section of the online label that says postal use only. So I get a lecture from a postal worker about tape placement when he could have just written over the tape with a sharpie and kept his mouth shut? Yeah, no. When I asked to speak to the manager, she was unhelpful, condescending (called me "Honey" several times - don't even) and seemed amused at my dismay. Bang-up job, boss! THEN, they started REFUSING to give a receipt upon drop off, according to "USPS policy." I went all the way to the manager across the street who confirmed this policy due to the discount received online. Really, are you that cheap that you can't print a piece of paper with a tracking number to confirm dropoff for interested parties if a PAYING CUSTOMER requests it? I understand not doing it by default to save paper & keep costs down, but if someone specifically asks and you refuse, that's ridiculous. Since I can't get a receipt anyway, I've chosen not to deal with these rude, unhappy people and I have started using the postal annex over on the other side of the shopping center by vons & starbucks for drop off - they are very polite, friendly, and trustworthy, and while they can't print postal receipts for online labels, they are very nice about receiving them, and there's hardly EVER any wait! On multiple occasions I've been there and had issues, stood up for myself, and have been told by one woman - Lisa - that I have an attitude problem and that they've all talked about me - super professional! I'm glad to have made such an impression on them, maybe eventually if enough people stand up to them like I did and stop using this location, they'll get the message that their standards of conduct need a refresher course. College kids in food service and retail have a higher understanding of customer service than these people. Do not recommend. read more

And don't be fooled by the woman who walks around apparently with nothing to do and asks if she can help... IT'S A TRAP - regardless of your problem, the answer invariably is a resounding "NO." She's easily identified - she's the one who looks like a trail guide at Candyland, if Candyland was made out of granola. With 1-2 exceptions, the personality quotient of the average clerk is so cold as to send shivers down your spine. Collectively, this postmenopausal coven of witches will leave you wanting to spoon with Ann Coulter just for the warmth. +2 stars for doing the job we all pay them for (and in all honesty for doing it consistently well). -3 stars for the side of attitude they serve up while doing it. read more

Fairly slow and painful service, even by USPS standards. The upside is that many of the counter employees are extremely nice people. This location services a large population of seniors, so be patient and try to pretend as if they are your parents and give a little grace. Some weeks I visit this post office on the way to work multiple times due to selling various items via ebay and amazon. During lunch and after work the lines can be long due to all the nearby companies. This location opens at 7:30AM which is sometimes limiting when I want to get to work early, but it is an improvement from 8:30AM which was only up until recently. This location does have an APC (Automated Postal Center), which there is almost never a line for. The APC is usually operational during off hours. Passports and pictures are available at this location upon appointment. read more

Surprised by the star rating for this post office location. This is one of the location I prefer to visit when I need their services. I have mailed, bought stamps and applied for a passport in the location. The lines are never long compared to other locations I've been to. When the line starts to form, more stations open up. The clerks are always helpful and are always willing to find the best options and cheapest way to send packages. read more

This review isn't specific towards this location but to usps in general. They first lost my package and ended up not being able to find it during the time i placed a lost package claim. Now i have to make a claim for a refund on my lost package. I then had a second package that i ordered on a wednesday and paid extra for the priority mail so it could arrive by the end of the week. I got a notification on Saturday saying that the package was unable to be delivered. So i tried to call usps to see if i could go pick it up at the post office it was returned to. Well after waiting about an hour for a callback, they finally tell me that the location the package was returned to closed in 5 minutes so it was too late. If they didn't have so many customers calling about complaints (understandable at this point) I could have gotten the address of the post office the package was returned to and been able to pick it up. Now there was no point of me paying $10 extra for priority mail if I still have to wait 6 days AND i have to make a refund claim for my first package that was never found... Update: Added a star to my rating. Without any contact with usps for 2 weeks my package magically arrived in my mailbox. They had already told me they lost the package 2 weeks ago but I suppose they found it? 2 weeks later? I guess better than not getting it, thankfully I hadn't gone through the process of a refund claim with them (I assume that's hell too). read more

This place was hard to find. It was late in the day and I stopped at the wrong location. I stopped at the office next to the fire station. The sign says post office but that location do not take walk in. I found out later that that was the old post office. There is a piece of paper taped to the door informing people were to go but the directions given were not very clear. Base on that I'm giving this place a two star. read more
