This is the most incompetent, unpleasant post office I've ever had to deal with, and I have lived in many different areas of L.A. and environs. Three problems I've had are: they ignored change of address forms and continued to send my mail to the wrong address for weeks; the mail carrier leaves expensive magazines flat on the ground on rainy days even though there is a dry place to leave them just inches away; I signed a signature form to receive a package, but days after leaving the signed form still have not received the package. Calls and visits to the P.O. to deal with these issues are frustrating and ineffective. It doesn't help that I don't speak Chinese. read more

I often visit this location and send weekly packages using their priority mail non-flat rate boxes which all USPS locations are required to provide at each office, which doesn't require the use of requesting them online. Tony, the middle-aged short white haired Asian man is always there and is always talking loudly to customers and giving attitude and emotions when neither behaviors are needed in this environment. (Check the Yelp reviews for this location!) Twice this week he has been more than rude and offensive to me. When I arrived today they didn't have the non-flat rate priority boxes out front, so upon requesting four of them Tony doesn't flinch to check the back to get them for me but yells out, "We don't have any!!" and just walks away! I asked him in front of the rest of the patrons just as loudly as he spoke to me to repeat what he just said, while he continued to walk away and said, "Ask the manager!" He then walks behind the shallow wall behind the counter and he starts kicking the metal cages that contain packages 3-5 times!!! Loud bangs and loud knocks!!! In front of customers and employees. No one says a word, it was just silence. This isn't the only encounter I have had with Tony, nor is it the first time I've seen him aggravate others for the sake of bitterness/poor selfish reasons. We customers local or not, do not come to this specific location just to get treated poorly, unprofessonally and have to deal with such a well established office with the poor performance of an employee of the United States Post Office. I fear for the safety of your employees as well as the well being of your daily customers who have dealt or will have to deal with their future encounters with Tony. I want a response and a promise this won't ever happen to me again when I next visit this location... or things will definitely get more resolute. read more

We arrived well before closing time to renew a passport and were informed that to get a passport renewed we need to arrive an hour before it opens and that the person currently being helped had been there for 4 hours. I've had my share of good and bad experiences with this post office. When they're good, they're alright. Among the few Asians that work there, there is this elder white man (who might be the manager, I'm not sure) who is much more willing to help than most of the other workers. As stated, when they're good, they're alright. When it's bad, it ruins your experience. I've called in and went in person to ask about lost packages, but 98% of the time I'm greeted with attitude. Usually it's somewhat friendly services for the first question; if you ask more than one, they'll give you rushed, vague answers and give you attitude when all they need to say is "I don't know." In fact, just this week I went in to mail something, and a lady had gone straight up to the counter to ask where she can drop off her already-labelled package. The PO worker was literally right next to the tabletop for drop-offs. All he had to do was point to where it was. Instead, there was a fight between the two about her "being very rude" and telling her "not to cut," even to a point where he straight up told her "you get out, you get out now." Maybe she started stirring things, but as a part of customer service that is NOT how you treat the customer. Finally, stop losing my packages please, SGPO. I have tracking numbers for almost all the packages I expect, and more than once it has been reported as "delivered" but was not at my doorstep, only for it to show up 5 days later. Stop sending my packages to the wrong house. In short, this USPS is a big hit or miss, 80% of the time miss. I'd recommend the one on Valley Blvd. in Rosemead. Much more friendlier. read more

Personally I don't think the service is THAT heinous. Postal workers are not the friendliest bunch (hence "Going Postal") in the first place. I like this one because they seem to get outgoing letters to where they gotta be pretty damn fast. Don't get me started on the Rosemead (Valley Blvd) craphole. Now that one is BAD. read more

This post office deserves zero stars the reason for that is that every single person that works there is mean and rude especially DIANE . They all just seem miserable. They have no customer service skills at all. The line is always long. They don't open their passport hours on time. I love this post office and mail carrier. I used to live near Prospect Ave. I never had any mail/ packages damaged or missing. The people at the post office are friendly and fast. I live in Rosemead. One year of living here, my packages have gone missing, items removed from my packages. I filed a complaint. Nothing was resolved. Now I am having my packages sent to San Gabriel post office. I just feel the people at Rosemead PO are thieves. When UPS delivers to me, it's never lost or damaged or OPENED! read more

They do what they are supposed to do. Drop off and picking up is easy. I never had to wait the line for dropping off and picking up. Everything else I wait in line, they help me, I pay, and then I'm done. They have street parking and their own parking lot. Convenient and easy. read more

The workers are pretty unpleasant. It wasn't busy and there were two workers on duty - an asian man and an asian woman. It took me at least 10 minutes to pick up a package because they said it had the wrong address on it... even though the note from the post man concerning the package was left at MY correct address and not some other house. After producing my ID 3 times I'm fairly certain the woman though my unisex name meant a girl would be picking up the package... and though she was difficult to understand, I'm pretty sure she told me the package was meant for a female. The parking lot is small, 17 spots or so and that's counting the streets too (12-13 in the parking lot, 3-5 on the streets. I just went to this post office to pick up a package that was suppose to be delivered this morning but was not. All the spots were taken, i saw 5 customers in line or being helped, 3 filling out forms, 1 using one of the automated postal machines so i wonder now if the employees actually took up some spots. Pretty weird that I would be reviewing a post office but I guess I need to. My local mailman attempted to deliver a package but the online tracking said that the attempt was made but due to receptacle being blocked (no idea what that means) he wasn't able to deliver and supposedly left a notice... Well I didn't see a notice and my mailbox wasn't blocked. So I came here to see if they had the package and an elder asian man named TONY (what a coincidence) did a lackluster job at helping me. He was a certified jerk who didn't even want to help me. I asked him if he could at least look up what address he has on file because I don't think it was correct since I didn't get my package but he didn't give a damn. I can't believe there is no half star selection, if it does, I'll absolutely give it! Here is the situation I had this morning makes me very displeasure. There is a middle-aged female worker whose looks like a Chinese (she spoke Chinese to me) to help me picking up my package. The package is oversea from Germany with wrong receiver's name. I have to show her ID and explain the package is belong to me. After that, she asked me to sign and print. The machine didn't go through and reply again. Then, she became very impatient and repeat aloud:" Sign and print!" I didn't do anything wrong, that machine didn't go through. Why she turned her ugly mug to me? Also there is no PRINT button except CLEAR and ACCEPT. what the hell was wrong with her. I pissed off a little, but don't want to get trouble with her. I don't understand why she's very impatient with costumers. This is not the only time I saw this ugly mug. Last time was another simple mistake she had and saw her ugly impatient face again. The note card clearly showed her the three package with three different package number. She only gave me one. When I asked her" Would you check if I have other packages cause there is three different number, I may have three packages." She walked back inside with an impatient emotion again. They don't redeliver the package as they promise. I was miss the first time Nov 10 deliver.. cause the officer was deliver in my kitchen door while I was in bathroom so i didn't hear. I called at Nov 15 to office, speak soft and slow (my english is not good) asked for deliver, the officer on phone said: u can come pick in here we close at 12p or we redeliver for u Monday. I answer: ok, redeliver Monday. She hang on right away, I even no chance say thanks. Today Monday I started wait from 9a to 2:39p and I also make a called to post office just wanna be sure does they deliver my package which is value few hundreds. Another white lady pick up the phone, I told her i just wanna be sure does package is on the way; first, she is normal fine speak said: I don't understand ur saying and the become: what?..。because I was asked for can u check the deliver prepare does my package is on the way; she:" no, I can't.. all the info is in deliver there and they leave at 9p". Well, cause I don't understand the post office system is, so, I asked again to try to understand how they work.. not give them trouble or give hard time (I am peace person) Very fast she became no patient and keep repeat: " i can't.. I don't know.. OK?!.. the deliver will be drop anytime, sometime pass 5p". Worst experience I've ever had at a post office. I was just dropping off some priority mail envelopes and was asking TONY why the amount was higher than the actual stated flat rate is. He got ALL upset and started to yell at me...telling me not to come back and that I did something wrong. As I left his line, he CONTINUED to yell at me. I yelled back at him from the other side of the post office telling him to STOP talking to me. He kept talking to me and I just shouted "STOP TALKING TO ME" I could not believe the customer service I received here!!! The other two ladies there were JUST as RUDE! Seems to have a new problem, used to be that when the P.O. counter was closed the lobby area where you can buy stamps from the machines, weigh things and access P.O. boxes was available, but now there are lobby hours that are not much more than the counter hours. Worst post office ever. These people service the area I live in and the carrier is always too lazy to deliver packages. Everytime there's more than 1 package, he would just leave a pink slip and expect me to come to the post office to pick it up myself because he's too damn lazy to do his job. I call up the manager Jose and he talks about how he's going to work on it and it never changes. When I had to go pick up the stuff myself last time, the moment I mentioned Jose, the staff that works there laughed and said, "you might as well come pick it up here since he never does his job." and that is absolutely true. Everytime I schedule a redelivery on USPS.com or call the main USPS line, nothing ever gets redelivered. I always have to call the post office (and hope they pick up) to personally tell them to schedule a redelivery. And if I'm lucky, they'll re-deliver. They are the biggest bunch of incompetent idiots who refuse to do their jobs properly and expect to get paid. If they're going to have me do their job for them, they should be paying me from the carrier's salary + gas for every time I waste my time driving over. This is an ongoing issue for the past 2 years since I moved to this area. This time, I was literally sitting 3 feet away from the door nearly all day long (from 9am to 3pm) and not a single knock on the door. (My computer is next to the apartment door) . read more

I did filed an address change on July 1. I even opened a P.O.Box in this Post Office under the reason as I want my mail. I lost all my mail after 6 weeks waiting because they told me the regular mail man "Luke" had moved to another route. On me, I did all my best to keep my mail, but the Post Office did not do the job. The workers are very rude and they seem unhappy to be here. Especially there is an American guy name "Steven". I don't know how did this office get 4 stars. My experience I have to give then negative five stars. I moved from other city and missing package and delayed mail had never happen on me for 7 years. I moved in San Gabriel no more then one year. I've find I always got my mail delayed. I have got my neighbors mail and I have to deliver to them.i had received a notice went pick up was delivered. I had some questions regarding an expected package that was undelivered. A male clerk in his 50s or 60s helped me at the office, but he was very rude and impatient the whole time. He cut me off every question I ask, assumed I was asking for something else and tried to defer me elsewhere as soon as possible. He wouldn't even look at me when explaining. It was early in the morning on Monday, and there wasn't even a person behind me. I don't understand the reason to be so impatient and rude is. Please let the personnel at the office know that not every customer knows how USPS works, and we are not supposed to know the answers to questions which may seem unnecessary to them. read more

The customer service at this post office is unacceptable. This Asian lady was particular the issue and I had two encounters with her. Once I wanted to send off a package with already pre-postaged, and she weighted it and advised me that the postage wasn't enough. I said okay and asked how much more I had to pay. It came out to be 10 cents. This encounter wasn't too bad although I thought she could have forgone the small difference and kept the line moving. Anyway, the main reason for the one star is the experience from a couple of days ago. I got there ten minutes before closing at 5. I waited in line for about 5 minutes and I had to send an international package via Priority Mail Express. It was the same Asian lady who served me, and she refused to help because she said it was closing time and I had to tape my package and fill out a customs form. I thought they do get paid over time, don't they? The Priority Mail Express box is adhesive so I didn't need tape, and I told her I could fill out the form in 30 seconds, and she still said no and told me to see the supervisor who was sitting at the other side of the office. I walked over, and he got this annoyed face and wanted to go home badly look. I exchanged a couple of words with him and asked if I could send this online and schedule for pick up. He answered my questions but he seemed rude. I do see the reason why they do not value customer services because it has started from the management. The postal service at this location is excellent. The employees are friendly and extremely helpful. My family has lived in San Gabriel for 50 years and have been served by this post office with respect and professionalism. Our family has needed help with information regarding passports, post office mailbox, holding mail, forwarding mail, buying stamps, money orders and offering best choices in sending a package. Additionally the postal mail carriers have always been helpful, extremely kind, professional and courteous. I literally had the same postman for over 30 years.
