My street has no restrictions on where people can park! Such a horrible post office!! I had a package that was supposedly delivered to my house, but I never got it. When I first tried to contact the office, the phone just rang and rang. I called customer service who then gave me a different number and opened a consumer affair case for me. When I called again with the different number, someone finally answered and was very rude about the whole situation. He said he'd find out who was on route that day and then give me a call back. I never got a call back!! So I called AGAIN, and another rude person answered. He kept saying that he couldn't help me because he doesn't know what happened. Well hello?! Let me fucking explain before you shut me up. I get it, it's a busy place but I'm a receptionist for a very busy car dealership and not once do I shut up a customer no matter how annoyed I am. Every time i come to mail things out its just as busy as any other post office, but i do sense an attitude from the employees there. No one was in but me around 9:30AM this morning and they made me wait until they were done with their personal conversation. This post office is the absolute worse! Eloise, or whatever her stupid name is, needs to be FIRED! She is extremely rude and unprofessional. Every time I call due to a delayed delivery on the post offices fault, she gives me attitude and a very stupid excuse as to why my orders aren't delivered on time. March 2018 update: they have turned it around and the labor management relations have noticeably improved. They have not lost anything I have noticed for several years now. It is still an exceedingly high traffic location and you need to try to avoid peak hours. The Saturday hours are short 9:30 to 3:30 and very long Saturday line from the outset but after 2 it is much better. Week days close to closing is sometimes no line sometimes long line hard to tell. All and all for the USPS it is average location which is an improvement. Original review : The word "dysfunctional" is about the only non-profane accurate statement I can make about this place. In their defense they are an exceptionally high volume facility, but, they could loose a battleship. Do not make the mistake I did by getting a PO box here, anything oversize has a significant chance of getting lost, it has happened to me four times in 2013 and effected my ratings as a ebay buyer. I have people tell me that they have been shipping priority mail for years and never had anything lost until they sent to me ... not good. I frequently get other people's mail in my PO box and do report it to the supervisor, who is a decent chap, but his crew is just a pack of mutts. They refuse to follow the basic work rule of verifying name and address before putting letters in the PO boxes. More than once I have seen union BS going on in terms of deliberate work action slowdowns, clerks working so deliberately slowly as to be almost comical if you had not been in that $#&*ing line for going on half an hour. It was 6 o'clock & the front doors to the post office were open, but there was a Mexican worker standing in front of the second set of doors that were leading to the desks. I had to pick up a package, & he refused to even let me in so they could hand the package over the counter to me, which would take two seconds!! I asked if I could have them redeliver it the next day, & he asked me if I had the pink slip, that he would've brought over to the desk to process redelivery, & that would've taken the same amount of time it would've taken them to hand me my package. DO NOT go here. go to the postal office in san fernando or any other. A worker named "DEBRA" is the rudest racist lady ever! While I was in line I overheard her and a older mex. man arguing back and forth. When it was my turn, i unfortunately was attended by her and all i wanted was to ship out a packet. I asked for a small piece of tape since i saw it sitting on her desk and she soooo rudely responded "no this tape is not for customers you need to buy a new one for $5". All i needed was one small piece, so i said never mind i'll go bring my own & as i walked out she LAUGHED & said "haha at least I can afford my own tape unlike you"!! I was soooo upset and shocked because this rude old lady said if so loud so everyone in line could here and that is just not how you treat customers. I sell through Ebay and even though I live close by to this Post Office, I try my best to avoid it. They have the worst service out of all the offices. I've sent packages in the past through them and have gotten them returned because I owe them money. I literally walked into the office, handed them the package, paid whatever they asked me to pay and I still get them returned asking for more money. As an Ebay Seller, handling time is very important. Or sometimes the buyer gets it and had to pay extra. Sometimes I think they're running a scam. read more

I came here to try to renew my passport and they did not want to accept me. The lady at the front counter was really rude and told me and one other guy to leave when we had already been there. They closed at 3 and had already stopped taking people by 2:40. Like what the hell if I arrive at 3 when you close ok fine but I get there in ample time before closing and you don't want to take me and one more person? how is that fair? I sell online and use USPS Priority Mail. Just had an issue with a buyer and want to try and issue her a refund asap. Tried calling to see if the package is being sent back; first call rang and rang with no answer. Second rang 3 times and was hung up. Next time it was busy. Everyone here has always treated me so nicely except for the African American lady called Shay...she was very rude. And did not give me proper service. They always misplace my packages or idk what happens. But I'm constantly having to call the shippers or sometimes the neighbors will bring my package cus it was left in their box. Then they come up with excuses at the post office. Today they left a note saying "no secure place" Trying to wash their hands and put the blame on the place now. This office has the worst customer service ever! I walked in and the line was probably 15 plus and only 3 employees to help. I waited about 30 minutes to send out my packages. This isn't really a review on their service cuz their service isn't always too great; I mean they leave my packages laying on the street for just anyone to grab. Anyway, this is more of a heads up to the community. Recently, been receiving mail that's somewhat tampered with, and we doubt it's from anywhere outside of the mailing community since we have a small slot and lock on our mailbox so it's nearly impossible for anyone to try to get inside. And with that we've had multiple times where our brand new issued cards from banks without even opening the mail itself have had huge transaction attempts. Someone attempted to buy $500 worth of stuff on a card (by the name of Melissa) I hadn't even taken out of the unsealed envelope. I've already had multiple shady incidents with this place, from them losing a package of mine and denying it to later finding it exactly where I had predicted, to them tossing my packages to on the street for grabs, to now this where a house of 9 people have each had fraud on cards/accounts that have yet been redeemed by us. So please, just keep an eye out for your mail and follow up on your things just in case. read more

The people behind the desk are friendly and efficient, and when a huge line forms, they actually act like they care and speed up! I really like coming to this post office. Parking is easy, and I've always been greeted with friendly and helpful staff. I also like that they open at 9:30am on Saturdays. It's super convenient for when you want to get things out at a certain time, and you don't have time during the week. They also have at least 3 windows open too which helps keep the line moving, and the waits short. read more

The fact that this post office has one star so far on yelp is a wonderful indication of how shitty it is. The service is completely rude. The ladies that work there are unprofessional and ignore you. I only caught one lady's name, Erin. Unlike all the other post offices in this world, this post office does not allow their customers to use pens. They simply say that they don't have pens, and further state that the all customers steal pens. What are they trying to say? I don't know.... But here I was it with all my mail from my office, trying to mail something out and I forgot that pen. That's it should I go back to the office? Lucky for me the fifth customer I asked had a pen. HORRIBLE post office. First they lie about not being able to leave my package. Then I had to drive to pick up my package for them to tell me to wait outside. I wouldn't of mind a good 10min wait but I had to wait 1hour for a package that one of their workers failed to get out of the car and leave. Lazy employee couldn't go up stairs apparently. My husband just asked for 3 forms to fill out to send 3 packages to Brasil. The lady in change only gave him 2 and he had to asked again for another until another employee actually responded and gave him the 3rd. My husband filled them out and until we got to the lady again after waiting for the line, she told him those are the wrong forms, he had to fill out other ones again. He tried to explain before hand what he needed and she cut him off just telling him "these is what you need". It is very rude that this asian lady is treating people as if they are doing something wrong and then when she messes up she want to mistreat the customers. I know everybody need USPS and probably this review doesn't count but some of these cashiers need to get some customer service training. Like this lady thinks she is entitled to yell at people who nicely asking questions (information they need). I hate to write these type of reviews but is at least a way of ranting my frustration when I have to be an adult and hold myself back from yelling back at her. Feels like a very negative vibe, who would've thought, Van Nuys post office have more friendly people and explain everything with detail and listen to your concerns. We made a mistake getting a PO box here in Sylmar because I thought would be better being close home. They couldn't even find out request with the phone number, or email verification. Had to go back home to bring a print out. At least the guy that helped us at the end was a bit more friendly but couldn't help us. read more

This post office has the laziest postal workers and the situation is exacerbated by the supervisors who do absolutely nothing to make sure that the carriers are doing their job. my update is as follows: i still sometimes receive other peoples mail (i wonder who's getting mine?) i pay all my utility bills at the proper offices, i started to use autopay on the rest of my bills, i haven't bought any stamps since november of last year (2017). so far i've saved $101.00 in money orders. i really thank the post office for opening my eyes on how to save time, money and headaches!!!!! read more

I read the other comments so I thought I would share. The employees have never been rude to me. They are grown adults and speak to you directly. They are trying to get the job done fast. They are not there to stroke your ego. They are there to do a job, not kiss everyone's butt. I will say each time I'm there the customers are usually the ones causing the problems and slowing everything down. Almost every time I walk in, I sware to G-d, I'm blown away by how people (customers) don't have their sh-- together. I would probably be pissed off everyday if I worked there. I think people's expectations are way too high. It's a post office people. They don't have time for your nonsense. I know sometimes I'm sure we can all be in a bad mood, but again, they do their job and they do it fast. People have several minutes in line and then when get to the counter, they lose brain cells. I have been a customer for many years at the Sylmar post office. If anything I feel sorry for the workers here. I have seen customers verbally abuse employees because they were asked to step aside while they completed their paperwork. I see customers talking on their cell phones holding up the lines. Or my favorite the RUDE people that walk in the door go straight to the counter and interrupt the employees who are trying to help another customer. This is a very clean post office despite people leaving their trash on the counter when they leave or letting their kids tear the place up (while they are on their phone of course). Feeling seriously pissed off and frustrated with the post office right now. We have had several holiday cards delivered ripped open over the past few years. We tried making a complaint, but they just say it was the machines that cause them to get ripped, however none of our other mail is ever ripped! Since there is no way to really report these types of things that result in any change we let it "slide". Yesterday was the final straw when I received my W2 tax form ripped with part of it stolen. Now all of my personal information is susceptible to identity theft. After spending all day trying to speak to anyone at the post office about this I was directed to file a complaint through an online form with the inspector general. I then received an automatic reply with a generic response. Overall, you will not get any help, sympathy or follow up regardless of how careless their actions are! Claimed that they couldn't find my house on three separate occasions to deliver a simple package. They told me to come in to pick up the last package that arrived there, when I went in to pick it up, they had already shipped it back to the sender. Not only that, but I got an attitude from the workers even after being polite. Tried calling the offices multiple times today and no one picked up. It's 1:00 pm, why is no one picking up the phone?!
