If you are not comfortable mailing confidential doc then expect a minimum of 2 - 3 hrs wait. Door opened @10a and it was already 50 people deep. By the time I got my number at 10:15a, they said to return @ 1p no sense sitting and wait cuz they ain't gonna move any faster. Luckily a guy needed a later time so he traded w me. It worked out great for me. You just have to check Yelp and know what you're getting in for, before you go down there at 10 thinking that's when they open. I was fully prepared, chair, passport forms, coffee, and a personality to hopefully pass the time quickly. Got there around 6:40, was the 15th in line. Not too bad, but I suggest 6:00 if you wanna be number 3 or 4. It was a random Tuesday, and the first people I line got there at 12 am. Not gonna happen for me. Tickets came around at 8:30, got inside, waited about an hour and a half. ( I went and killed some time at the Starbucks around the corner). Got helped around 10:15, and that was the quickest part. I had everything done and ready. You should be out of there by 11, if you get there fairly early. Be prepared, it takes time, but please, have you paperwork done when you get your number called, you have time to fill them out. Also, hospital certificates are NOT birth certificates, the poor woman with us found that out the hard way! The women running this place are sweet, and trying their best, don't be the one complaining, you could always make an appointment for 2 months out :) Update, ordered expedited on May 17, received in mail, 11 days( including weekend days) later, on the 28th of May. read more

Two things: 1. Get there early. I was there 5:30am, I think by 6:30am there were already about 10 people. 2. Get all the documents ready, fill out the application form online from department of state's website and print at home. Get your picture taken somewhere in advance, also have the necessary ID photocopies. I was first in line that day, opened around 9am, even though on department of state's website says 10am. In the first 5 mins the door opened, all 35 numbers for the day were gone. They only gave out 35 numbers per day. You'll be amazed how people would come unprepared. Filling out application form on the spot, get their pictures taken there, missing documents, make photocopies etc..... So average say 15min per application, 35 numbers is roughly about 8 hrs worth of work. Only 1 person certified to process application. As for me, 1st in line and everything ready, I was in and out in 5min. read more

Let's start with the basics: This is a government office so my expectations were low. Once we realized our 14 month old son would need a passport for an upcoming trip, my wife and I started researching our options. Post-9/11, there are only a handful of places you can go but, you probably already know this. The Meridian Post Office is one of two walk-in options for passports in the South Bay. With Saturday being our best option, I prepared myself for a long wait outside in the cold. Based on other reviews, I knew I would have to get there early in order to be seen. At 4:30am my alarm went off; I was in line (and let's be honest, I was the line) at 4:50am. By 5:15pm I started getting some company. Every 15 minutes, another person showed up. Fast forward past star-gazing, a short walk to Starbucks with another person from the line, and some good daybreak conversation. We started noticing life inside the passport office at 8am. My wife and son showed up at 8:15am to say hello and keep me company for a bit. To everyone's surprise, the door opened at 8:30am. Susie (the most helpful Post Office employee I have met) let us know they'd be opening early as a courtesy. We literally had everything completed and were walking out of the office by 9am. So, here are the take-aways: 1) Show up by 5:30am on a Saturday and you'll be golden (it's better to wake up early than get there too late and waste your time). 2) The employees do the best they can with their limited resources, be nice to them. 3) Starbucks is a five minute walk. Oh my gosh, do I hate this post office. Never before have I been treated so rudely for something that was entirely not my fault, nor have I ever seen such appalling lack of service. On 6.1.15 I received a "Sorry we missed you note", which indicated that the letter was available for pickup at the 1750 Meridian Branch after 6/2 and would be available for 15 days after that. Pick up hours included Saturday from 10am - 3pm. On Saturday 6.6.15, I left my house around 2pm and arrived at the post office at 2:30 pm. I walked in to see that the pick up window was closed. I knocked and a surly postal worker came out the door located next to the pick up window and asked what I wanted. I explained I was here to pick up a package and he said they were closed. I showed him the slip I had, which indicated I had until 3 pm. He said "that's old", as if that absolved him of any responsibility to assist me. I indicated that, even if it was old, that was not my fault. The postal carrier delivered it to me and I relied on the hours listed and therefore expected him to assist me. I also mentioned that it was very inconvenient for me, as I had driven 20 minutes + to pick up the package, again relying on the postal slip that the USPS had delivered. I then asked whether, even if they were closed, he could just go grab my letter, since it would take only moments. I was there, he was there, the mail was behind him. He said no and I asked why. His response? "My time is now allotted to do other things." Talk about bureaucracy! Moreover, I think he spent more time denying me service then it would have taken him to get my letter, but it didn't bother him to use his allotted time to deny me any assistance. Finally, seeing I was getting nowhere, I asked to speak with his supervisor. A few minutes later the supervisor came out and the following conversation ensued: Supervisor: yes? Me: Yes, I am here to pick up a letter. Here's my USPS slip. Supervisor: That's old. Me: Well, I only received it a few days ago. Supervisor: Well then why didn't you come pick up your letter a few days ago? Me: (in my head: seriously? SERIOUSLY? You are trying to pin this on me?) Well, I didn't come in because it said the package was available at your location for the next 15 days. I am here when your notice told me to be here. I didn't do anything wrong. Supervisor: sorry, we can't help you. Me: Are you going to compensate me for my time and gas to come down here, which I did based on your incorrect postal slip? Supervisor: Sorry, ma'am, I'm closing the door. And he closed the door. USPS was completely at fault. What bothered me more than their refusal to assist me, considering they should have done so because I relied on THEIR inaccurate information, was the appalling lack of any sympathy or apology for messing up. Rather than apologizing for the error in their postal slip, and for their inability to handle it after the fact, they claimed "it's old" - like that's an excuse - and then blamed me for not picking up the package when I received the slip (forget the fact that when I first received the slip it was 5:30 on a Monday and their office was closed and I then had to work the remainder of the week, which is the reason I came in on Saturday, still well within my time frame). They were rude, thoughtless, insensitive, and unapologetic. I will not use this postal service ever. read more

This review only pertains to my experience regarding their walk-in passport services: I'm going to Cancun for Spring Break, and needed a passport. I was concerned that the appointment I initially made would've cut it close with my travel date, so I tried the walk-in option. Please note -- your experience may not be similar to mine! The Passport Entrance has its own entrance on the side of the USPS building. On February 4th (Thursday), I got in line at 5:45am, and was the first person in line. Another person came right after, at 5:50am, and then it was just the two of us until 7am, when the third person came. More people started to trickle in around 8am, and by 8:30am, 20+ people were in line. The office wasn't supposed to open until 10am that day, but there was a lady inside who opened the doors at 8:45am. We got in, we grabbed numbers, and after she "assisted" everyone that was waiting in line and gave us all numbers, she began calling people up to the counter in the order of their numbers. I recommend you check online for the documents/paper work you'll need, and print them/fill them out ahead of time if you can. Some things you'll need are original copies of your birth certificate, photocopies of your driver's license, a passport photo, your old passport book if you have it, the paperwork, etc. -- there's more, I'm sure, but I can't remember. I was well prepared, so when my number was called, I was done in about 5 minutes. I paid the $110 fee with a check (write the check to 'US Department of State'), but they had an option to pay by a debit card as well (for an extra fee, I think), and paid the extra $25 fee with my debit card (no fee). My check didn't get cashed until the following week, just an FYI, in case some days go by and it hasn't been cashed yet. There will be a sign that tells you what day to expect your passport by -- one will give you the ETA if you're doing the non-expedited 6-week process, and the other if you're doing the 3-week process. If you physically need a passport within two weeks, then you'll probably have to go to the San Francisco office. To give you an idea; I went to the Post Office on 2/4, didn't expedite the process, and I received my passport today (2/16) -- less than two weeks later. Similar timing happened with one of my friends recently as well -- he did a passport walk-in appointment at the USPS in the Eastridge Mall on 2/1 (Monday) and received his passport on 2/12 -- less than two weeks as well. I'm not sure how common or usual this timing is, yours may differ, but overall I had as good of an experience you can have when trying to get a passport! read more

Simply "Thank you Ladies, we love you" I m not sure what others had experienced and have rated low, but here is my review on my experience. I am an Asian Indian and came here with my kid at 2:45PM with no prior appointment, the door was closed and there was another gentleman who arrived just before me, the door was opened quickly from inside in about a minute time by a sweet lady welcoming us in as it was hot outside. As soon as we were in she asked if we had an appointment, which we clearly said no. She was so nice to explain the process that there was no need for appointments but you need to arrive early in the day to get the appointment for that day as there are a lot of cases to be addressed and they cant have a huge crowd waiting in hot sun. She also said she would check to see if she can accommodate both of us for the day and also verified our paperwork to ensure everything is in place. In 5 minutes she confirmed that they can take us, later i finished my whole process in less than 15 minutes. All 3 ladies were extremely accommodating, always with a great smile on their face, never got irritated even though my elder daughter was having fun with my younger one and making some noise. Second lady re verified our documents made a copy of our ID's as we dint get the copies with us (dumb) but dint utter any question or concern to this. During the entire time I watched the first lady attending to the door when someone is there, calls them inside and helps them with the process, I have seen at least 4 people walk in without appointment and 1 couple, there was absolutely no rush to leave early or not to take any more appointment's. These 3 ladies were there all the time with a pleasant smile welcoming everyone to serve them better. Personally this was the fastest and most smooth experience of my lifetime in applying for a passport. Thank you again Ladies, we really appreciate for everything that you have done. read more

SATURDAY REVIEW: I chose to do this process on a Saturday, which I would not recommend if you can avoid it. I arrived at about 3:15 a.m. and was 8th in line. The guy who was first in line got there at 11 p.m. By about 6:30 the people arriving were not sure if they were going to get a ticket or not because they only give out 60 per day. Even though the office is supposed to open at 10 a.m., they usually open early at 8:30 a.m. Once I received my ticket I took a seat inside and they began seeing people. Now, when it was my turn to be seen, I thought I had all of the paperwork I needed but I had made a fatal mistake. I was using the passport service and did not have one of the forms I needed however I did not know this until I got home. I immediately called the passport office to see if there was any way I could get back in that day and they said yes! The gentleman that I talked to was Juan and I was able to explain my whole situation to him. He talked to Susie, the woman who had helped me, she remembered me and said that I could come back in. I rushed back there, we were able to fix the form, and I sent everything out that day. Everyone at this passport office is extremely helpful and very kind. They will see you again that day if you ask but please make their lives easier and double check that everything is correct ahead of time! They don't have to open at 8:30 but they do to make it easier for all the people waiting. read more

I went there yesterday morning 07/23/16. It was a Saturday. I got there around 5:10am and there was about 7 people in line in front of me. At around 6:50am a guy opened the door and started handing out tickets. I found out that of the 4 people in front of me were not only standing in line for them selfs but also for some of there family members. So really I'd say I was about 13 in line. When I got inside it went pretty fast. The staff was super helpful. All and all I was in line at 5:10am and out the door at about 7:45am or so. At the time I left there was about 40 people that had tickets and was waiting to be helped. So it helps to get there early for sure. They also take pictures there if you don't have them. read more

Showed up on Black Friday hoping to avoid the long lines. Showed up at 7:30 am on Friday with 10 people in front of me, doors opened at 8:30 am (though door indicates 10 am open). You take a ticket and they started calling numbers immediately. Many didn't have their families with them when they were called including myself, and our number was skipped temporarily. There were two lines: 1) One person checking that paperwork was in order (5 minutes) 2) Second person calls the same numbers, but actually processes the paperwork and takes payment (8 minutes) I was out the door by 10 am, which could have been 9 am if my family was with me. Recommended tips: 1) Make an appointment if you can - this would avoid the long lines. 2) Make sure your family is with you - or you'll be delayed another 30-60 minutes 3) Even if your family isn't with you, get the first person to check the paperwork (family isn't required for this step) 4) Make sure all paperwork is completed in black ink, and you have everything ready to go 5) Avoid weekends if you can, I showed up on a Saturday at 7 am with 50+ people ahead of me and gave up read more

Recently came in and got a new passport here before I went to Dubai...sure, I was turned away the first time, but I didn't get all bent out of shape and immediately vent on Yelp...I learned what had to be properly done and did it the following week, as it was entirely my fault. Did I want to wake up extra early to wait around in a government run office? No. Was it necessary to get my passport? Yes. Did I complain? No, I maintained and did what had to be done. The two women working were sweethearts and did a great job for being the only employees having to deal with an unruly crowd of people. All was well in the end. Quick note, I opted for the passport card as well (35$, on top of regular fees and expedited processing) which is nice to have when traveling overseas if something were to happen to your actual passport. read more

Never have I been compelled to write a review but this is the first worst experience I've ever had with USPS. For the record,I love and support our postal workers. I specifically DO NOT appreciate the "assistance" by MARTHA. If you want to be talked to as a child, go ahead and deal with her. I came in for a walk-in passport, which they did not accept. Okay, that's fine no one was upset. The issue happened when she told me to book an online appointment and as she was speaking to me, I simply looked down to my phone to try and show her the appointment page and she spoke with such a condescending tone as if she had authority over my decisions and said "DONT LOOK AT YOUR PHONE. LOOK AT ME. PUT YOUR PHONE AWAY." As if she wasn't on her phone when we walked in. This isn't my local post office but I was in the area. Do yourselves a favor and go to a different USPS. I no longer feel bad when I hear reports about how USPS is possibly going under. I hope they do. From now on, I will seriously mail anything, even a birthday card or a check, or a credit card application, ANYTHING, via FedEx or UPS. Michelle who works at the Meridian branch (she answered the phone) should be embarrassed by how she speaks and acts toward customers. I had an Amazon package due to be delivered via USPS (local transfer from UPS) a week ago. The mailman never delivered it. He did, however leave a "sorry we missed you" notice, without attempting delivery (I was home sick on the couch, right near the front door). After completing the redelivery request, and still being home for 4 more days, still no redelivery attempt. After psycho dialing the branch like a 13year old girl trying to win concert tickets off the radio, due to a constant busy signal, I find that the package has been sitting at the post office the whole time, and redelivery was never attempted. Michelle was a total bitch about it. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, she said that he was at lunch and wouldn't be back for almost an hour and a half.... which is a whole other issue in itself - employees taking 90+ minute lunches doesn't fly at my job, wonder why it's no issue at a government entity that is going downhill quickly. Now that I'm back to work, I'm really looking forward to sneaking out of work an hour early to rush across town to pick up my package.... all because a bunch of slackers refuse to do their jobs. read more

I would highly recommend coming back to apply/renew my passport because they provide fast service and only spent about 20 mins in the building. I woke up around 4:30 and arrived at the post office around 5:30 but I didn't sit outside until I saw someone pull out his chair. But being the 2nd person in line I would say arriving early gives you the advantage being within the top 5 since the weather plays a huge role since its still freezing cold. The passport process works as a "first come first serve basis" but waiting for the office to open you have time to stop by Starbucks get yourself a drink and make sure you have the proper paperwork. The dude before and I were the only ones until 6:30-7 am and by 8:30 it got pretty busy. TIPS: (if willing to wait around and camp outside) -Bring foldable chairs -Earphones -Blankets -Laptop -Book Just anything that'll keep you busy for hours The doors finally opened at 9:50 (not to mention it says they open at 10) the dude in front of me brought his family of 3 which didn't take too long since I wasn't in a rush. I got inside around 9:57 and arrived at the first window they checked if I had all my paperwork and that everything was properly filled and was given a number(just like the DMV you would wait your turn). As I've read in a previous review, if I could give this location zero stars, I would. A package was attempted for delivery on 1/16--signature was needed. Fine. I've been covering a position for work in Los Gatos, so tonight was the first night I was able to make it to the post office by 5:30 (1/22). I get to the pickup line at 5:20 and there is a line of about 6 people. The woman in front me of me said she had been there for 40 minutes going between the lobby and the pickup window. The lady that came in after me (at 5:25) said she's had multiple issues with this office and that she will never ship with USPS again. Also, her slip said the Meridian office closed at 6:30, which is not what mine says (I wish I took a picture) and is clearly not accurate. It's now 5:35 and there are 3 people in front of me. The man working said that we need to tell anyone that comes in behind us that they are closed and that they will have to come back. Umm.. is this our job? No. Still, no big deal, we do it anyway. Finally, it's the "woman-in-front-of-me's" turn. The man looked at her and said, "Sorry I'm off the clock" and walked away. We started laughing because we thought it was a joke. Meanwhile, the lady behind me got the attention of an employee in another room and told her we needed help. The man finally comes back to help the woman in front of me (weird). The other employee comes and grabs my slip. The woman in front of me got her package and left. So, the man began helping the lady behind me while the other employee looked for my package. The lady behind me got her package, wished me luck, then left. Finally, the employee comes back and says, "we returned it to sender, sorry" (in that verbiage). WHAT? I asked her why my slip didn't state that they would send it back after a certain number of days. All she could tell me was to look up my tracking information online. She was no help whatsoever. It's now 6:00. Meanwhile, while all of this is happening, a woman comes in RAGING about how she needs to talk to "Juan" and about how she just spoke with him on the phone and that he was expecting her. 20 minutes later, the man at the window tells her that Juan is busy and will take her phone number. She said this happened 10 days ago and she never heard back, which is why she came in person. This is a total of FOUR unsatisfied customers within a 30/40 minute period. That's a high ratio if you ask me. I'm currently on my second glass of wine, so I hope this review makes sense. I will never choose to do business with USPS, nor will I ever return to this office under my own will. Now that my package has been returned, I will have to be ANOTHER shipping fee to have my item sent back to me. What's worse is that I looked up my tracking number online and my package was scanned and sent two hours before I got there.. save yourself the time and don't use USPS! read more

So I needed my passport, but every post office didn't have appointments available for at least two months out. My trip was 3 weeks away, and me being the king of procrastination, I needed a quicker option. I was recommended by another post office to try this one, as they offer walk ins. I read the reviews on Yelp, and yes, everything is pretty much true. I arrived here around 3:30 am on a Thursday morning, I was the second person to arrive, people started to arrive one by one over the next 2-3 hours, at around 6 the line was probably around 20 people long, and by opening it was about 35-40 people long. For me, they opened around 9 am, and started giving out numbers. Best piece of advice is to have everything ready. The person ahead of me forgot the correct documentation and got denied. Print your application forms from your computer, bring your birth certificate, make sure you bring your license, and have a copy front and back of it,and of course your photo for use in your passport. Be prepared and it will help the line move a lot quicker and the quicker you and everyone will be out of there. In total I was there for 6 hours, but wait or have a travel emergency, you do what you gotta do. Not the ideal way to spend your morning, but be patient and thankful. read more

Is there any rating less than a one star? This is more about the USPS in general and less about this branch. My warning to all...DON'T USE USPS TO SHIP ANYTHING! I am enjoying the "Christmas that never arrived" as the USPS still has not delivered three items. The first, a piece of art I purchased for myself for Christmas, left Hawaii on 12/14/2016. On 12/18/2016, it left San Jose post at 0231 scheduled for delivery 12/19/2016. That's the last line I have. I have placed search requests and opened an official case, but as of today I have no updates nor contact from the USPS. But if that wasn't bad enough, my parents sent a Christmas check certified mail that was scheduled to arrive on 12/24/2016. This has also gone MIA and the website simply reads "Delivery delayed" with no further information or updates. On 1/2/2017, I ordered a new vacuum cleaner on Amazon. I requested it be shipped to a friend's home since they were on vacation and would be home to receive it when delivered on 1/4/2017. Needless to say, Amazon chose USPS and it has yet to arrive. According to the tracker, this package made it to Newark, CA and went out for delivery. Where it is now is anyone's guess. The most frustrating piece of this whole thing has been my inability to actually speak to (or yell at) an actual human! I have tried the national customer service line only to get caught in phone trees or "transferred to representatives" during posted business hours only to be greeted by a message that the offices were closed. I am at my wits end and don't dare reschedule any of the deliveries for fear that will delay things even longer. If you care at all about your deliveries, DO NOT SEND WITH USPS! Use Fed Ex or one of the others. One last Christmas gift I ordered late and had no hope of it arriving. The merchant shipped on 12/22/2016 with Fed Ex with an expected 12/24/2016 delivery. Guess what...it arrived without a hitch. So upset with USPS at this point I can't even begin to express it. read more

I don't really like people, so it is awesome that they have one of those automated shipping machines where you can buy stamps and avoid any human interaction. Yay! Unfortunately, when you do have to get in line to pick stuff up and talk to a real human, the lines are crazy long and they don't believe in friendly service with a smile. Lines are obviously longer on Saturdays but when we arrived ten minutes before they opened on a Monday we were sixth or seventh in line. They opened at ten, we were given an appointment for 11:30. The nice thing is that we were told we didn't have to wait there, but that we should come back fifteen minutes prior to our appointment time. We came back at 11:15 and were finished applying for our son's passport by 11:25. The women who helped us were very nice. You can pay by check, cash or card. As long as you understand that you need to line up before they open I think you're ok. Also, fill out your paperwork at home to save time too. Federal shutdown does not affect their hours. read more

As all the other reviews mention, you'll want to get there early. They are open 10:00am - 4:00pm (closed 1:25pm - 2:00pm for lunch) Monday thru Friday, and 10:00am - 1:00pm on Saturday. They STOP at closing time. If there are only one or two people left in line at closing, they WILL NOT STAY LATE!! They will, however, apologize that you've been waiting and ask you to come back another day, in a very polite and kind tone. The people working in this office are truly a special kind! While you may be waiting a while for your turn, rest assured that when it is your turn at the processing counter, you will be treated as if you are the most important customer they have. The clerks will patiently, kindly and respectfully answer your questions, even when you repeatedly ask the same question over and over. They will calmly help you make sure you have everything in order, and will point you in the right direction if you're missing anything. They'll even make new passport photos on the spot with a smile if the ones you bring with you are inadequate - but remember there is a fee for the photos. When you go, be prepared. Bring everything you think you MIGHT need. Leave the coffee/water at home because there's no eating or drinking inside, and there is also no restroom. Fill out your forms ONLY in BLACK INK, and DO NOT SIGN until the clerk tells you to do so. Most of all, bring your patience and very best manners. Many people have to wait a very long time together, and it is much more pleasant when everyone tries to be kind. Most of all...please be kind to the staff. Say "please" and "thank you". Even if you're not properly prepared, they will do their best to help you. If you're *that* person, be nice. Don't shout or blame them for your long wait in line. Be grateful, and apologize that you're not prepared. It goes A LONG WAY! They are there to help you, and probably opened the office early to help more people. Theirs is not an easy job, but if you're kind, patient and respectful, it will make their day easier, and yours, too. Safe travels!! read more

The office opens at 10 am but there is a line before this time, some people even were camping out in chairs! I arrived around 9:30 am and there was about 20 or so people in front of me. I would suggest getting there as early as you can to be at the front of line. With only about 20 people in front of me, I thought I wouldn't be there long, however, being number 23 I still waited to be called for 3 hours. I would also suggest making sure your phone is fully charged, bring headphones to listen to music or stream tv, etc, or a book to pass the time. Once you are called, as long as you are prepared with all of your documents and your form is filled out, it is an easy process that takes about 5-10 min. The staff is nice, and very informative though they could use 1-2 more workers, especially when they take breaks and lunches. read more

I wish I did not have to give this place such a bad review. I understand the workers here are probably stressed out and tired of being yelled at every day. I have seen how some customers yell and scream at the workers like a toddler having a tantrum, but I still cannot excuse how bad the service here is. We came here in early June to get the mail key for our new apartment. I was told it would take 2 months for them to change the lock and give us our new key. In the meantime they offered to hold all our mail. I decided to check on the status of our new key in mid August and the woman working told me they lost our key and ended up changing the locks on the wrong mail box. I was a bit confused but she decided to just walk away before I could ask anything. We came again last weekend to get our mail and packages. The worker told us "Yeah it say your package deliver" and then said they didn't have it. If they were keeping our mail and packages here until our key and locks were changed what are we supposed to do? We told her this and she would just repeat "Yeah your package deliver, go your house". They also lost the packages belonging to two other customers in front of us. When they asked for the supervisor she just stormed off into the backroom. I understand its an unappreciated job and that this post office is probably understaffed but they consistently lose mail and packages and take forever to give you a new mail key. I hope none of you have to ever go here. read more

I don't really like this post office, it's in the middle of nowhere, it's always super busy and most (not all) people there are super slow and a bit grumpy. BUT one day USPS lost my parcel which was send to me by my mom and dad with stuff in it that they carefully put together. So after calling everybody and being put on hold a million times they told me (and hold on) "it seems the issue was resolved with the customer. It doesn't show that the parcel is now anywhere but delivered." WTF? I don't have a parcel lady and nothing got resolved. So half crying I called this post office and a lady there called Indy was super nice and even contacted the mailman that dealt with my parcel and she then found it!! Of course the next day I dealt with a long wait at the post office and a slow and grumpy person but it was all worth it. Thank you Indy for helping me out! read more

Raise your hand if you have ever been personally victimized by Regina Geor -- err, the Passport Application Services at the Willow Glen Post Office. *Raises hand* My harrowing tale: I called ahead of time to inquire about making an appointment. What they did make clear was that it's first come, first served. What they didn't make clear until after I drove all the way there, knocked on the door after seeing it was locked, made eye contact with multiple staff members, was ignored by all of them, then called back because I was indignant and utterly perplexed... was that it's first come, first served AND THEY ONLY PROCESS 20 PASSPORTS PER DAY. If you're looking for an exercise in futility, this is the place for you. If you're looking for a passport, however, apply via mail to save yourself time, gas, and sanity. read more

Robin C's review was very helpful. Especially about where the entrance was located on Gaton and NOT in the actual post office. FYI they actually open at 10AM. It took 2 hours until my number was called, but once I was called processing took 5 mins. There are only 2 clerks working so the key thing is come 100% prepared. It seems like the ones that took the longest was b.c the customer didn't read the Passport Application instructions in advance. A portion of the fees need to be paid in check/debit/cash, the other portion can be paid by credit card so again come prepared. read more

Multiple issues with this office. 1) I've been getting other resident's mail for almost a year now. There is no sign of stopping. I've tried talking to my carrier, leaving a note in my mailbox, going into the office to complain, nothing changes. I get at least 5 other peoples' mail. 2) Good luck trying to call this place. They seem to be stuck in the 90's because they don't even have a hold call system, just a busy signal. 3) I requested a redelivery of a package last Saturday during PO business hours. The website advertises same- or next-day redelivery. It's now Thursday and there is no sign of my package, yet they can deliver reams of garbage spam mail every single day. [Update: the package was redelivered a full week after my request. Shameful.] 4) They messed up a priority one-day shipment I was receiving. It arrived at 10:30AM the day it was supposed to be delivered, and they didn't deliver it until the next day. I tried calling them from 12:20 to 12:40 and they either let the phone ring until an error message came on, or took it off the hook. Complete garbage service. The WORST. Awesome service. We went there since this was the only walk in close in 10 miles radius. Its hard to travel with new born. We had to apply for passport of minor newborn. MY hubby reached there at 5:30am on Saturslday and his ticket number was 24, total 12 people ahead of him. One person can have multiple application. Office opened at 7:30am and at 9:30am already 20 ticker was served so he called me to bring child with me. We reached at 9:50 , called at 9:55 and out at 10. It took 5 minutes only. Fast service if you are well prepared with the docs. Don't be dump to go without preparation. read more

I got here on a Friday morning at 7:00 am, and was 3rd in line. At 8:30 they opened up earlier to begin serving us, and turns out I was actually 2nd in line because the 2 people in front of me were 1 party. Yay! As I get called up, I am notified that I need to have my travel itinerary. Yikes, I thought I read the website well, but apparently not. I walked down the block to the UPS store to print out the itinerary, and came back. Then, after I was swore in and everything, the worker noticed that my DS-11 application form was missing the bar code. What? What bar code??? Noooooooo..... Another trip to UPS to print out a new application WITH bar code.. I finished around 11:30 am after all said and done, but it would have probably been a LOT faster had I not been missing those 2 pieces. The workers were pleasant and I don't have any major complaints. I just wish that both the itinerary + bar code issue were discovered the first run through to save me an extra tip to the UPS store! read more

Don't bother showing up in the early afternoon. If there is a line, and your number isn't called by 2pm. There's no guarantee that they will help you out that day. They are only open for a half day on Saturday. Service can be rude. They won't even speak to you until your number is called. I mean the passport office is a good service to have, but not a necessary one. You can just pick up the forms and get your photos taken at Walgreens and mail it in yourself. read more

The workers here need to be commended for their patience, clarity, and attention to detail. I arrived at 10:45 am Tuesday and left at 12:45-ish. 2 hours actually went by rather quickly. This office needs an additional 5 people working there to accommodate not only the volume of customers, but the length of time it takes to meet the needs of each person. read more

Phone service is a joke. My package was sent to a post office and not my house. Tried to call to see why.. bad mistake. Got someone on the phone alright but that someone couldn't understand that my package was sent to them.. UPS dropped it at their location.. I was informed several times that they are not UPS but the post office.. then hung up on me. Package lost.. I assume as I never got an answerer. They never got my name address or anything.. read more

Basically this Passport Application Office is just like filling the forms outside your home. You can get the application forms, fill it and mail it. $110.00 for renewing plus postage usually around $ 18.00 for express service and thats it. The people in here as other reviews have mentioned are just regular postal workers NOT from the Dept of Justice. read more

Another awful post office near me!!!! There was no one on line, thought I was going to get out fast...NO!!! Stood there for good ten minutes before someone could help me. JEEZ!! Terrible service! I have never had a positive experience here. 1. I went to get my passport renewed at 8am on Saturday, and waited at least 3 hours. Do it at the Clerk's office downtown, it takes LITERALLY 10 minutes 2. Our mailman (Meridian is the main office for our neighborhood) had delivered our mail to our neighbors, and our neighbor's mail to our house several times. 3. I sent a package to China, asked the woman if the address was okay, or if we needed anything else, and she said we were good to go. 5 weeks later, the package never arrived. We went back and the manager said that happens a lot, things in China get stolen, and we should have gotten insurance and something else. The woman who helped us gave us no such warning. Needless to say, I will avoid USPS whenever possible. read more
