I've been renting a unit from US Storage Centers on Aviation Blvd for a few years and I can't recommend them enough! The property manager, Benson is terrific. One good thing I can say about this place is that it is fairly new and clean. Other than that, it's a total ripoff. The way they charge for rent borders on bait-and-switch. I rented a "10 X 10 foot" unit last summer (BTW, none of these are actually 10 by 10, at ANY storage place I've ever been to). I compared the facility and price here with the next two nearest facilities, Redondo Mini Storage on Inglewood Ave and Everest Self Storage on Aviation and Rosecrans. All of these places have different "move-in specials" so you have to consider the total cost of renting over time (a year, for instance) to make an apples-to-apples comparison. US Storage offered 50% off the $166.95/mo rental rate (plus $9.00/mo for insurance which is NOT optional) for the first three months so I calculated that over the course of a year, the unit would cost me $1,779.96. This was a little more (very little) than the nearest two places but they had a nice unit available and the facility was a little nicer so I decided to pay the couple extra bucks over the course of the year. Bad mistake. By December (on Christmas Eve in fact), a mere 5-months into my tenancy, I received a letter from US Storage that my rate would be increased $22.00 per month in February, March, and April until it was at $241.95 per month, a freakin' 28% increase total before I was even there a year! I called the office the next business day and asked to speak with the manager about the increase. I figured I had nothing to lose if I complained, and I might be able to negotiate a better rate. But I was told she was not there so they took my message and told me she would call me back. She never did. I stopped in there two other times to discuss it with her and both times, she was not there. When I finally turned in my notice to vacate, she was there but by then it was too late. I was already infuriated with this place. So I guess this is their game. They give you a great teaser rate, let you move in and get situated to the point that moving would be inconvenient, then nail you with a massive rate increase. They claimed in the letter that the rate I WAS receiving was "significantly below our current asking price for a unit of your size and type". I say bull so I went back to the other two places and compared "current asking prices" there and they were now FAR below what US Storage wanted. Thinking this might be standard mini storage practice in these parts, I even went so far as to hang around each of the other two rental facilities polling existing customers going in and out of each place to ask them how long they had been there, how often they had rent increases, and how much the increases were. I couldn't find anyone at Redondo Mini Storage who could remember the last time their rent was raised. A couple long-time renters at Everest said they just had a increase at the beginning of the year but it was the first time they could remember one and it was only 5%. So now, this unit is easily the most expensive in the area and definitely not worth it in my opinion for a little nicer and newer facility than the others. I moved out this month and will never, ever rent from US Storage again...ever! They caused a massive inconvenience in my life by forcing me to either accept their outrageous price increase, or move. I chose to move but I will never give them my business again. read more

My experience was very good. The staff was Very Helpful and knowledgelable. From the time I called to the time I arrived they were waiting to help me with a Smile and A Handshake. The office was Very Clean, They had all my moving supplies I needed and was ready for me to move in and very nice and friendly. What convinced me to come here was the security features that other facilites do not offer, Reseident manager on site, Cameras, Door Alarms on every unit and the property was very clean. They have Donations for Kure It Cancer Research, Free Ewaste service, Shredding dropp off, Deliveries accepted. I would highly recommed US STORAGE CENTERS to all my friends, family, co-workers, church members. My experience with this storage had been great so far. The staff have been really helpful. When I signed up for the storage, for example, I realized that I requested a size that was too large. When I asked if they could switch me to a smaller unit that was cheaper, they switched me happily and immediately. They were very helpful and accommodating. US storage centers had by far the best prices and the storage size that I needed available. This particular location on Aviation Blvd was amazing. Benson and team did an awesome job. What's great about this location is that the driveways are wide open with plenty of room for trucks and personal vehicles. Took away one star not because of the team at Aviation but because of the call center whom we notified right before getting there that we will be arriving in 15 minutes. Unfortunately the office was closed when we got there and we couldn't get in. We had to return later in the day to complete the deal. This is completely the call center's fault as they forgot to inform us that the local office will be closed for staff meeting. Definitely not happy about the mishandling of our case but the local team at Southbay, Benson and Jolene, restored our impression of the company by providing top-notch customer services. The place is super clean and in a safe neighborhood, we are more than happy to leave our RV there. We will definitely recommend this facility to our friends. read more
