Even thought it's zoned as Hawthorne, it's actually closer to El Segundo/Manhattan Beach so very safe neighborhood. I opened up an account with them a few days ago and the entire process was extremely professional and painless...took a total of 20 minutes! Kudos to Christina & Erica for being so professional and patient. Both of them just radiated happiness and were so pleasant to work with. Thank you both for making the entire process so quick and stress-free! Here's what to expect: 1. You're taken on a quick tour of the facility where you're shown an example of a unit you're interested in. They'll show you that there's only 1 entrance/exit which has multiple keypad entries. 2. If you're interested in buying a space, you fill out a short application and show them your DL. 3. A one-time administration $20 fee is charged. 4. You will also need insurance so either show them your homeowner's/renters insurance or you must purchase an insurance plan from them (less than $20/month). 5. You'll have to buy a lock but I was given mine for free. :) 6. They'll go with you to your new space and show you how to open/close your unit and also how to insert your lock. 7. They're open daily 6am-10pm. Pros: 1. Very professional and kind staff 2. There is a live-in storage manager on the property which makes it very safe. 3. Great neighborhood - it's located behind the Springhill Marriott Suites and next to the MTA repair center so there's not a lot of traffic and very safe. 4. Very clean facility. I've checked out other storage facilities in the same area and they can't compare - some of them were so dirty and in sketchy neighborhoods. 5. Right now on their website, they're offering a 50% off deal for the first 2 months! Cons: 1. It's a small facility compared to other storage companies 2. For some reason, their bigger spaces are cheaper than the smaller spots so even if you don't need such a big space, you're almost better off getting the bigger once since it's cheaper which doesn't make any sense (I was told that bigger units are always discounted since there's more of them). read more

Worst experience ever. I have multiple storage units with different companies, I am satisfied with all of them except this one. I went from paying 112 to 208 in less than 10 months. Besides the fact that I could never use the only restroom because it was always out of service or so management said. No dumpster to throw trash. Carts were all broken and elevator will always brake down. Awful experience. I took the issue with management but nothing was done. Regarding my insane increase in rent all they said in a letter was that it was due to "inflation" you got to be kidding me! Worst company ever. Would never recommend to anyone. read more

WARNING! If you have valuable or sentimental items, do not store them at the US Storage Hawthorne facility. Our storage unit was broken into and ransacked!!! We were heartbroken to find that all of our treasured Christmas items and holiday decorations were stolen, along with childhood memories on home videos and other sentimental items that can never be replaced. Valuable sporting goods and camping equipment were stolen also. We trusted US Storage to be safe and secure, with a so called alarmed unit, which means nothing, by the way. We were also shocked that the management didn't seem to sympathize with our loss and the system in place to track entry was not working, so there was no way to pinpoint when our burglary happened. US Storage failed us and we feel the need to warn others about what happened here. read more
