They have polka dot ribbons!!! :)
    Linda W.

Was searching for navy blue polka ribbons for a project and found this place on Yelp since I was in the area and didn't want to drive to downtown's fabric district. Nice people. Plenty of parking. Kinda messy, but if you ask they will help you find it. :) Ribbon selection not as wide as I expected, but they do have some cute ribbons. Great prices too. UPDATE: Man, the navy blue ribbon turned out to be black. At the frayed edges it is indeed dark blue, but in general it just looked black. :(

I love this place. They have soooo much fabric, types of materials, zippers, and so much pretty lace. The lady who helped me also didn't try to oversell me products. She actually suggested ways that would save money!

Large selection of fabric, zippers, and trim. I came here primarily for zippers and bought 21 for $19. Definitely way more affordable than Joann's. A little more expensive than Textile Durango which had zippers for 50 cents (large) and 4/$1 for small zippers but selection was 20xs larger. I was able to find some YKK which are the best zippers but they mainly have other brands of zippers. This place is a little more expensive than other cheap LA textile stores but the selection is huge. A bit dusty and dirty but that's fine.

my first time here bc i didnt want to spend a whole buttload of money at joanns. not to far from my house which was super convenient. i bought a lot of ribbon& fabric to make kimonos and garters (for my team) i love this place, even though its not that organized i was still able to find what i needed. i spend a total of $57, compared to joanns where it wouldve been maybe over $100. great alternate for downtown! 17 yards of white lace- $1/yd but she gave it to me for .75) 17 yards black satin ribbon 7/8 in- $1/2-3 yds ( i forgot which) 17 yards red 1/2 ribbon- $1/2yds 4 yards of white lace trimming -$1/yd roll of 1/2 elastic- $3.50 total of 4 floral fabrics- each was 2.5 yards- $15 for all little silver bows- 8 for $1

I called Mike's and got a text from Ann within a day. She was patient and friendly and answered all my questions. She also asked me plenty of questions to narrow down exactly what I wanted and gave me options with prices, including advice since I was considering buying the fabric myself. I put it off for a few weeks and then at the last minute wanted to get it done a week before July 4th so we could host friends for a bbq. I texted her back and they (Ann and Tina) were incredibly kind and fit me into their tight schedule. They gave me a clear timeline and estimate, and were upfront about any additional costs that might come up. In my case, I wanted to reuse the foam and ended up paying a little extra to redo the dakron (buffer foam) but they gave me a heads up so I was prepared. I had one bench and four cushions redone. There was piping, zippers, and straps. And they were in pretty bad condition when I dropped them off. It was finished on time and it came out looking brand new! It looks so good. I'm so happy we went with them. The price they gave us was great and the workmanship was excellent. Tina even took time to meet me when I picked up the cushions to walk me through the work they did. I'm very pleased with the positive experience I had, especially with the hiccups I had with just finding a shop. We'll absolutely be using them again when we redo the rest of the chairs. I cannot recommend enough.

A pretty good reproduction of an original Gauguin that happens to be in a nearby Pasadena art museum. Well, we paid a visit to Hobby Lobby, as we were picking up some things from nearby Whole Foods. The store occupies Sear's old location on Foothill. It's a huge place and designed to get you to walk around for things as signage isn't plentiful or helpful. Shelves are high so unless you are very tall you need to search around, guess they took that cue from Costco, it works if you aren't in a hurry. We were happy to find they had a framing department and also a fabric area, which, since the sad closing of JoAnne's, I was glad to see for the ghost of my mother who enjoyed sewing. I'm focusing on the Framing department and the friendly efficient gentleman in charge of that department, his name is Theo. He was helpful and friendly from the start. Their framing prices are posted as 50% off, which sounded great, but I guess the original prices need to be considered before seeing this as a good deal. Well, we checked on one style which had always been our original style we felt appropriate for this art work. We visited Tahiti a couple of years ago and and saw some Gaugain copies framed in a similar style, it works very well, so we inquired as to cost and estimated the size as we didn't have the painting with us. It was very reasonable compared to the frame shops we have checked over the decades, yes, decades! It was a very fair price, not knowing the quality of the work was something to consider, but Theo was very efficient and knew his products and was very meticulous. We could tell we were in very good hands. We were quoted, less the 50%, a little under $100 before tax. A very fair price. We were given a "finish by date", and 5 days before that date I gave a call to check on status, I was told it would be done in a couple of days. I was surprised and happy to receive a message later that day from Theo that our framing job was finished and available for pick up. We got over there that evening and Though Theo was gone then, a nice young lady got our finished product for us. It looked very nice. She walked us and the painting up to the lone cashier, as that is their policy, and we waited in line to pay. They did open another register as the line was about 6 people deep. I'm not going to get into their company politics, but over all it was a positive experience, especially thanks to Theo and his friendly, knowledgeable service and framing skill. Thanks Theo!

Wanted fabric taken from it along with new patterned fabric incorporated to create a new patchwork quilt. Was told it would take about 3 months to complete. Discussed in length the types of new patterned fabric she would incorporate as well as marking the squares I wanted her to incorporate from the older quilt. The cost was over $600 and she wanted the entire amount up front. Paid the money, asked her to check In with me on completion date. 1 year later I finally have the quilt. Never once during that time did she check in with me. Excuse after excuse when I would call only to be told check back I, 2, 3, or 4 months. The last time I spoke with her I told her I was going to take her to small claims court if she did not have it done in 1 month. She called 4-5 weeks later and said it was completed. Picked it up and was very disappointed. The quality of workmanship was average at best, there was no new patterned fabric used on any part of the quilt only a small amount of dark solid colors. And to top it off, the fabric that was used on the back of the quilt was also used as a thick border on the front of the quilt and she also used it heavily around many of the larger sewn together squares on the front. She used minimal new fabric. I asked for new patterned fabric from the era the quilt was made to add character and brighten it up and none of that was done. Very disappointed and will never use her services again. Btw: two of the times I called to see when it would be done she said she had been in the hospital. Not once did she call and explain the situation or apologize for the delay. She seemed put out that I was running out of patience. Very unprofessional.
