The price was really attractive from some friends posted to my group. So we decided to take a look and try. The dining room has different parts. There was a big triangle table that people sit side by side. And also table of 4 or table of 8. We have 3 people that be reserved a table of 4. They have lunch menu that we could have customized noodle soup or the personal Shabu Shabu. I had a coconut TomYum noodle soup with beef and shrimp. And my husband had a 2 meat shabu shabu with teriyaki base. The meat we chose beef and lamb. The teriyaki base came pretty quick. We started boiling the base and then we got the 2 bowls of meat, 1 bowl of vegetables, and a bowl of the noodles. The base was pretty sweet, but still good with all the ingredients. The dipping sauces were set on a central table that we made our own. I like sesame oil, sesame sauce, Shacha sauce with green onion and cilantro to mix them up. My coconut Tom Yum soup came a bit late. The meat was a good portion, the shrimp was 3 big pieces of tiger shrimp. And there was some veggies at the bottom with noodles. They were all in good portion, the only problem was the soup, it didn't seem to have coconut in it, the taste and the color looked like Tom Yum soup only. For lunch time, my Shabu Shabu was $16.xx+tax and my noodles soup was $9.80+tax. The price was pretty decent. I would like to come back and try other combinations. read more

They have a new lunch noodle special which my other half and I came to try. After 20 minutes my order came out but was missing toppings. After another 15 minutes my order finally came out. So with 4 other tables it only took 35 minutes for a bowl of 4 topping noodles to come out. Not impressed read more

Venue: Place is big with plenty of seats, beautiful decor. The sauce and appetizer section are by the front door. Appetizer has fries, gyoza there as well as seaweed, kimchi for example. It's Japanese based (shabu shabu) but has Chinese and other Asian food for sure. Food: The best beef is classic in my opinion. Getting wagyu option wasn't anything too exciting for me. They also don't have many options for dessert anymore which is disappointing. Now they give the kitkat ice cream popsicle. Still good but other options would be great for the price that they charge. Lots of broth options and you can also choose shared broth or individual. Service: I always bring my family and friends here, spent a lot of money for sure. Derek's one of the nicest staff. Most of them are kind and fast in my opinion. Derek just remembers me every-time I come which is nice! They also have the robot bringing in your orders as needed. Came here on a Sunday night and really enjoyed it. Loved their meats, it was pretty good quality even though we got their classic AYCE menu (lowest tier). My favorite meat was the USDA prime flat iron and prime short rib. They had a decent selection of other items like vegetables, seafood and fish balls but their highlight is definitely their meats. We got the spicy and sukiyaki broth. The sukiyaki is a must and I would love to try their coconut one next time. I always get the glass noddle because it just soaks up the soup base really well and makes it super tasty! They also label their meats so you know exactly which one you're getting. Makes it so much easier to reorder the one you like. Our server was really kind and funny, even encouraged us to order more. They have a good seating area, good amount of tables and even spots for solo eaters. One of my favourite hotpot places so far! I came here for lunch on a Monday and it was practically empty, however this place can get busy for dinner. I love the Japanese style decor here, and everything seems fairly clean! The food came fairly quickly even with only one person working at the time. They do have a delivery robot as well dropping off hot pot ingredients. We ordered the large pot with two soup bases, which is an additional $18 on top of the AYCE fee. My go-tos are always the Tonkatsu broth and Sukiyaki, which never disappoint! We also opted for the Classic Beef menu, since I don't think there is much of a difference between the wagyu and the normal stuff. However, there is a 30% off deal for the Premium Wagyu and World Wagyu menus from Sunday to Thursday if you pay with cash. Might be worth it for the seafood! Just a warning that there were a few things unavailable like most of the tapas, but I'm not too sure if that's because they don't have those things for lunch. There are a ton of options at the sauce bar, including all your staples and even some things like ponzu sauce! There's also some side dishes that go great with some meat, including pickled radish, korean bean sprouts, even french fries and potato chips. I personally enjoyed all the meat options, with the Prime Short Rib and USDA Prime Flat Iron being my favourites. They are all marbled nicely even with being the base meat, which helps prevent it from being dry! I also love that the trays tell you what kind of meat it is, something other AYCE BBQs should totally implement. The meats are served per tray (1 order is one tray), while most of the other things are ordered per piece. I love how many options for veggies and fish balls that they have here! And since it's per piece, the more you are able to try! I was most excited for the dessert but only the Melona and Chocolate Mousse were available at the time. The mousse was underwhelming unfortunately. They do have Mango Shaved Ice but the server said it's only for the Premium Wagyu menu. Overall, I really enjoyed this Hot Pot experience! Ushi Shabu Shabu is now my favorite hot pot restaurant! I haven't tried many hot pot restaurants, only Haidilao, but Ushi Shabu Shabu exceeded my expectations. We made reservations for 3pm but it wasn't really needed since there were only 4 other small group when we arrived. The restaurant is quite spacious and could hold 30+ groups at least, including single customers. I also noticed a sign showing a 30% discount when paying by cash from Sun to Thurs when purchasing any AYCE menu which is amazing. We purchased the Classic Beef AYCE menu and the Sukiyaki soup base and the Tonkatsu soup base. I really enjoyed the Sukiyaki and the Tonkatsu was good too. The Classic Beef AYCE menu did not disappoint either, considering it's the lowest tier AYCE menu. All of the beef options included in the Classic Beef was more than enough for my cravings, they also had Lamb, Pork Belly, a bunch of seafood options, your typical hot pot side dishes, and some dessert options. Came here for a celebration. I've passed by this place so many times but never tried it until now. Service - 4/5: service was great at the beginning. There were not a lot customers initially. They were super helpful, explaining what options we had. Then service became steady as more customers came in. Ambiance - 4/5: if you are not sharing a pot, you're seated closer to the front, or around the island like table. I thought it would be cold but it was actually ok. We're also close to the sauce bar. Otherwise, the ambiance is fine. Washrooms are closer to the entrance. It even has Q-tips and Listerine. 3 stalls for women, with 1 disability stall. Food - 4/5: We got the classic beef menu. The meat quality for me was fine. I got the tonkatsu broth base and it lightly seasoned the meat for me. They mixed up me and my friend's soup base but it was an easy fix. Our pots weren't heated up yet so we just switched it ourselves. Since the meat are very thinly sliced, cook time is super quick. The Australian wagyu toro was great. They also start you off with a sample plate so you know which beef you like to keep ordering. The only downfall to the crab legs is that it's not pre-cut or pre-cracked so getting into it took time and led to sore fingers. I had difficulty controlling the temperature for the pot. It was either a rolling boil or it doesn't boil. They refilled our broth and they used a pot lid to shield the pouring of broth. This prevented any potential splatters. I didn't strategize properly and over ordered on the first round. So I only lasted 2 rounds plus dessert. There are limited dessert options - mango shaved ice, melona (honey dew, mango or coconut) and I think black seasame mousse was the last option. My first mango melona was half melted as aoon as I opened it so they gave us another one. Bonus - there is currently a cash deal where you get ayce crab legs and Australian wagyu toro. They weren't too sure when the deal would end. This is a steal if you order the classic beef. The toro is part of the second tier and I didn't see crab legs as an option in any of the 3 beef sets. I ate this at dinner so please call them to confirm this deal before going if you want this time. I know they also have lunch ayce. I'm not sure if this is applicable during lunch. Came for their ayce lunch special which is $25.75 everyday from open to 4 pm. This is including soup, which is valued at $18 for half and half. Amazing deal, you're saving basically $15 to $20, especially on a weekend. The special menu includes access to pork, beef, and lamb, so unless you're looking for some premium meat, it's a good deal. You can get the usual variety of vegetables, noodles, seafood, and mushrooms. For dessert they have chocolate mousse and melona bars, as well as some fruits. It's December and they carried oranges, watermelon, and cantaloupe. Not sure about melons in winter but it's there... Orders are done through mobile menu, and there is a 2 hour seating limit based on when the menu is unlocked. After 2 hours, it'll automatically lock again and prevent you from ordering more. There is no warning about time limit so keep that in mind to avoid disappointment. We ordered 4 portions of each meat multiple times and they arrived pretty quickly. I found the lamb didn't have as strong of a gamey flavour, which might be preferable for some. Beef had nice texture, and pork belly was fatty as you would expect. Ventilation is good, lot of space to move around, and great decor. I don't know about regular menus but the lunch special AYCE is definitely worth it. Wow wow wow. I know this resto is fairly new still since inception but I might have finally found a competitor that dethrones Daimaru Sukiyaki (it really depends on what you prefer as a diner). Parking is terrible as Times Square is always packed during dinner (your best bet for parking is during lunch and even then expect a tough time). The resto itself has been renovated extensively since Taste Hotpot occupied the spot. I think they spent near a 100k on renovations. It looks super different. Everything's so much cleaner. The dining layout is similar in some regard. There's a triangular dining area now on one side of the resto that didn't used to be there. It's a really cool novel layout concept. Anyways on to the food. This place is LITERALLY neck and neck w/ Daimaru in Scarbs. At Daimaru you're getting better service, better drinks, slightly more variety on the seafood (for the base, non-wagyu tier), slightly less cooked varietal side dishes, 2 less broth choices than Ushi (tonkotsu and Coconut and Hokkaido milk) and you have to order your sauce/condiments from the server. Also has to be said, it's WAYY harder to make a res at Daimaru because it's been around longer and so more people know about it. At Ushi they utilize the robot tray buddies for faster food arrival, have less seafood options (again for the base, non-wagyu tier), better dessert options (no restrictions either like "only 1 of this...."), better seating (can fit more than 6 to a seating and dnt need to be split up) and also have a dedicated make-your-own sauce bar that you can go up to make as much sauce as you want. The prices are practically identical for the base, non-wagyu tier. While Daimaru has a tier above the base tier (which is the wagyu set), Ushi has TWO wagyu tiers (premium wagyu and world wagyu). Frankly, I feel that the most optimal way to eat wagyu is torched or grilled which is why I usually don't get wagyu tier for hotpot. But anyways, I can't speak to the wagyu tiers and their overall value compared to the wagyu set at Daimaru but the base sets in comparison are practically identical for value and price. If you're like me and usually opt for non-wagyu tier but you prefer to have a lot of seafood option still than Daimaru is going to be more enjoyable. If you really like having lots of dessert options with no restrictions/limit on how much you can order than Ushi is better. Daimaru also operates without robots so if you value great service from human beings than you're going to want to dine at Daimaru. Because of Ushi's close proximity to me and easier reservation-making capability, I think Ushi dethrones Daimaru for me (both places are excellent and Daimaru still deserves 5 stars). My gf also picks Ushi over Daimaru for many of the reasons I've listed. read more

I came here with my family around 5:45 pm on a Thursday to a restaurant that wasn't too busy. There were only about 3-4 tables at the time but that was misleading since the place filled up very quickly as the hour went by! It was kind of nice to walk in during a quieter time though, as our table of 6 ended up at the very back of the restaurant in booths that l felt very VIP and private. These tables allowed each person to have their individual pot. Walking in, we noticed a bar on the right-hand side. This was a tapas and sauce bar! The tapas bar had some small snacks like watermelon and other fruit, as well as things like seaweed salad and kimchi. This was not the only tapas though, as you can order things like takoyaki, gyoza, and spring rolls from their menu, hot and fresh from the kitchen. The sauce bar itself has a good variety of anything you'll need, including fried shallots and chives for you to create your own concoction. After getting seated, we were asked if it was our first time there. Because we said yes, they gave us a very detailed explanation about the process, from picking our soup to the different grades they have on their menu which determines the selection you're able to choose from. This was so helpful. They left us to ponder the menu and then returned to take our soup orders. The timer didn't start until then. Do note that the AYCE price does not include the soup base price! Since we all got our own small pots, it was $8.75 per person, in addition to the AYCE price of $33.75 for the classic menu (which we opted for since they said if you pay cash, you can get the upgrade of the next category for free). They also gifted us a tray of crab legs that were decent in size and very sweet to taste. Overall, the selection was great and everything was to our liking. They also have unique menu items like jellyfish! Most importantly, the food was fresh and hygiene was topknot. Even at a glance, the restaurant itself is well-maintained. Not to mention, the decor and ambience is really nice. It was funny to see their robots buzzing around too, which assisted servers. I personally ordered the coconut and Hokkaido milk soup base to be unique and I would actually say I had the most flavour base out of everyone at the table who ordered other bases like the tonkotsu, kelp, and ox bone. I highly recommended the creamy base which keeps the meat very tender. The coconut flavor is strong and slightly sweet. This also paired very nicely with the konjac noodles and udon as a finisher at the end of the meal. I personally liked that they have a QR code for you to scan and order your items off of their online system. It definitely makes it easier for introverts as myself while also maintaining accuracy and saves time from you having to wave someone down to place an order each time. There's also photos so you know what you're getting. The highlight of our evening was the service. Everyone was extremely friendly and polite, being responsive to our questions, requests, and thank yous! The noticeable difference between this place compared to other AYCE places is that even though we were nearing the end of our time, the service continued to be just as amazing versus what I witnessed at other spots is that servers start to ignore you. Instead, we were about done and yet, they came back to ask if we wanted more soup added since most had evaporated (this was also not the first time they asked, as they routinely check on you). Sadly Ushi has gone downhill now, I came here today for dinner and got the tonkotsu and pepper chicken soup. It was the most bland soup ever. The tonkotsu use to be really good. They also removed so many items from the menu such as, seaweed salad, fried squid ball, and takoyaki. They also removed the mango sago and moved it to the premium menu where it use to be on the classic menu. The meat does not seem fresh anymore either. When we ordered dessert, there was only two options chocolate ice cream or chocolate mousse. Overall it was a pretty bad experience and as someone who use to frequent here, I will not be back. Cute restaurant with many food options! This is an ayce shabu shabu restaurant with 3 different dinner menus to choose from: classic beef, premium wagyu and world wagyu. I opted for the premium wagyu set ($58.75) and came with a large variety of food options to pick from. The highlights are definitely the australian wagyu, short rib, prime flat iron beef, and crispy tofu skin roll. Overall, I didn't love the quality of meat and the tomato soup base I got was definitely on the sweeter side. I loved that they had the crispy tofu skin roll as it's usually an additional cost a la cart for other ayce hot pot restaurants. I can see the appeal for this restaurant and perhaps the world wagyu set at $98.75 would be the best quality of meat there is as you get all the kobe and wagyu there is on the menu. Decided to try Ushi Shabu Shabu after seeing it all over my social media. Having had another japanese shabu shabu ayce restaurant, I knew I would like this style of hot pot so it was just a matter of finding different places. Though not as fancy as the other place I tried, the restaurant seemed clean and had lots of space for larger groups. It was my birthday that day so I also got my meal for free! My group of 10 opted for the base level which wasn't too bad in cost. It was about average compared to other higher end AYCE hotpot places. The meat and veggies were good, not the most top quality but plentiful and went well with their broth options. We did appreciate the sauce bar as well though a little small. The staff was attentive and all our food was brought over by a little roboserver. I got a little happy birthday song too =) Will be back when a hankering for shabu shabu comes back. read more

There are 4 options for meat - flank steak, hanger steak, pork, the New Zealand lamb. The combo comes with a variety of veggies and bean curd dumplings, and you can choose 1 noodle/udon. There is no additional charge for soup. Each person gets 2 soup bases. The price for the 2 meat combo is around $16 which is pretty reasonable and the quality of the meat is excellent. Overall, I think it's great value for your money and the quality of the food is great too. We came here multiple times and it doesn't disappoint. Came here for the ayce regular ($34). We tried an assortment of the meats and seafood and had a pretty good time! The staff were super friendly and quick with our orders and even wished one of our friends happy birthday with their robot servers! The food itself, although filling, wasn't particularly high quality. Couldn't really tell the beef from the sheep from the pork to be totally honest, they kind of just mixed together. We also got two soups: tonkatsu and the coconut milk ($18) but they weren't particularly anything special either. The coconut milk was not bad but the tonkatsu was so plain you could barely taste it beyond the soy sauce. Overall, even though I did have fun, I thought for the price it was a pretty mediore experience. Maybe I could try different soups next time but the quality of meat is pretty meh. 3.5 This time we came to try their ayce dinner! Quality of meat is still good (we just stuck with the classic beef tier). Just a few things to note or remark on. The service and ordering... I am still on the fence on and believe it can be improved. Once seated we waited a long time to order. We were told to order via the QR code which we had tried but the site does not allow you to offer anything until the staff inputs which tier you have chosen. So after a staff member was flagged down and we picked our classic beef tier and soup base, then were we able to order tapas, meats, and veggies. Not sure what promo was going on but we were presented with a promo tray of beef and veggie set (the same veggie set as from the lunch set). Sadly there were a few veggie items on it I can not eat so those were left untouched. On the website, for ordering the items clearly marked how many pieces will be included per quantity ordered. However in reality, as with most places, there is a big difference. For example, one order of luncheon meat was let's say one piece but I ended up receiving five pieces :) I do like how the sauce station bowls are under a "sanitising light". And I wish that was the case for all cutlery and dishwear. My bowl had weird stuff caked on it (see photo). Overall I still enjoyed the food and the broths (coconut milk and sukiyaki). This is my go-to spot if I am looking for hotpot. Ensure to make reservations online as this place can get very busy. Venue medium sized but aesthetically pleasing especially with the wheat decor hanging from the ceiling. They also have a variety of seating arrangements for 6, 4, and 1 person (the one person is nice if you go solo in that you get your own hotpot) The prices have gone up and there has been a removal of some of the great items such as the fried squid balls, however the Australian Wagyu is still great if you are looking for good quality meat. From the presentation to the actually quality of the beef. Everything was top notch! The beef was high quality, fresh, so tender and soft, it just melts in your mouth. If you want to really spoil yourself, the A5 Japan Wagyu for $23 (2oz) was so worth it to try bs a good portion. We also tried the Japan A5 $25 for 2oz. Good portion and everything just melts in your mouth. I love it how all the beef was labelled so you know exactly what you are ordering. The ambiance was nice and very clean. Ushi Shabu Shabu is a new shabu shabu restaurant located in the Times Square plaza. It's tucked in the corner farthest from Hwy 7 and Leslie, next to Song Tea. They have a waiting list most nights and you can check in to put yourself on the wait-list on the tablet by the front door. I strongly recommend making a reservation if you come during peak dinner hours, as there was a line up starting around 7pm. I came here with a couple of friends on a Thursday evening at 6pm and it was already pretty much full. You're brought to a table and the host/hostess will give you instructions on what to do. You have to select a tier first (classic, premium wagyu, world wagyu) and your soup bases before ordering any food. My friends and I took advantage of their grand opening offer (20% off price + 50% off soup base) and got the premium wagyu, with the sukiyaki and spicy miso soup bases. Will have to say sukiyaki is very good (better than Daimaru tbh) but the spicy miso was just ok. The food itself was very fresh, even the veggies, and I really enjoyed the Australian Wagyu Top Sirloin - I think I personally got 3 plates of that for myself! Most of your food is brought out by robots and I'm not sure if that's the best option for the waitstaff. I saw some servers literally have to move out of the way for the robots, even backtracking back several tables so they can make their way past each other. There was also one robot playing the same one Japanese song the entire night lol. Service by the waitstaff however was excellent. They always refilled our broth without us needing to ask (the actual soup base too, not some generic broth) and it was easy to flag someone down. In total with the discount, tax, and tip, it came up to be about $60 a person. If you want to try one of their pricier tiers, this is the time!! Located in Times Square, 1915 reservations a must unless you want to eat early at 1715. Place was poppin on a Tuesday night. 3 different levels of menu ordering, went for the lowest price (classic) as waygu beef really doesn't do it for me and I know my limits, no way I could eat all the extra dishes that comes with the middle/highest menus. I'd rather concentrate on the meats. They initially give you a sample platter of 3 beef proteins (with label), prime short rib, prime flat iron, hangar steak, also lamb and pork belly so you can decide the meat of your preference to additionally order. Choice of soup base. We chose the tonkatsu broth, additional $16.95 for soup base, $2 extra for 2 soup broths, bah, wish they could just include the soup base in the total price. Meats are sliced very thin but since it's all you can eat, why split hairs. I actually enjoyed all 3 different beef proteins, each with its own characteristics, very tender (short rib) or slightly beefy/chewy (hangar). I preferred the texture/taste of the hangar. Choice of noodles, udon, soba or the packaged ramen type noodles. Went with the soba, took 10-15secs to cook in the hot soup base. Nice and chewy. Atmosphere loud and noisy as everyone was having a great time. My family recently visited Ushi during their soft opening and we had such a pleasant experience. We had never gone for shabu shabu before in Canada but the staff did such an excellent job in introducing their menu and their ordering system to us. The restaurant is also very beautiful and clean. We got two soup bases, Tomato and Coconut & Hokkaido Milk. I really liked their tomato, it was more savory that I thought it would be. The coconut was a bit heavy for me but my parents liked it. They bring out a platter of beef and veggies first and it comes out with dry ice on a platter! It was quite a show and made me so excited to eat!! We just got the Classic Beef AYCE but the beef was still really tender and delicious. We liked the short rib especially! All the toppings that were available were great, and very fresh. I especially enjoyed the quail eggs and the squid balls. At the end, there are a lot of dessert options, from Melona to several puddings and mousses. We were craving for hot pot after watching Wakanda. We were really hungry and got to Ushi Shabu Shabu just before 5pm on a Saturday. They opened 3 months ago. They currently have a grand opening special from now til Dec 16, 2022 for 20% off for any of the 3 food tiers and half off the soup base. The three tiers are classic, premium and world wagyu. From Monday to Thursday they offer free pop (until the promotion ends). When we first arrived it wasn't busy. The place has a very nice modern decor and very clean. They provide a tray filled with aprons, hair ties and wet naps. It was a nice added touch. We ordered the classic tier and tried the 2 soups - ox and tonkatsu. Both were really good! The food was good too (prime short rib, veggies like spinach and napa, ramen noodles (our fave) and we chose instant noodle. Everything is brought out by robots. The food comes out super quick the moment you hit the submit button. The dessert options were really good. We tried pretty much everything like Melona popsicle (available flavours were coconut, mango and honey dew), cream puffs, matcha panacotta and black sesame mousse deep fried steam roll with condensed milk. All you can eat Japanese shabu shabu located at Times Square. They have varying different levels (3) from Classic beef to Wagyu with each one being more expensive then the other. You order via the QR Code that is on the table. This was not explained and we were left wondering where the wait staff were to take our order until we called someone over. Also the QR Code was covered by a place setting so it seemed a very odd place to stick it and when I mean stick it was literally glued to the table so anyone who needed it would need to lean over, and the person sitting in the spot would need to move their place setting. We were given a booth that comfortably seats 6 but we were a party of 7. The only other option was to move to 2 tables of 4 but we would be seated separately as you could not move the tables together. Venting in the restaurant could be better. A couple of us at the table got facial steams every time we leaned towards the boiling soup. Instead of venting up the steam seem to vent sideways. Decent selection of items and food came very quickly once you inputted the order. They have a birthday option where the birthday person gets a free meal and a piece of cheesecake at the end. The birthday person must show ID to prove it is their birthday. Was an okay experience...not sure it would be worth a second visit. read more

Reservations are important and parking is very hard to find on a weekend evening. Ushi shabu shabu is a hot pot restaurant where they serve you all you can eat shabu shabu via robots. It's actually cute when you think about all the robots rolling around, but you are not allowed to grab the food off the robots yourself. You must wait for the servers to come. You order via mobile phone or through the server. They prefer you to do it on the app but they do not confirm whether they have received your order or not. Sometimes it takes a long time before your order comes so be careful not to order again because you will get double the amount and get charged by the gram for leftover food. Soup bases are pretty standard. Food quality is pretty good. The first set of food you get is the most picturesque so if you're a food grammer, get those shots in first before you eat. It's an average hot pot place. Other than the robots, there is no wow factor to this restaurant imo. read more

Another hotpot place located in times Square. Nice AYCE where you can call ahead and make reservation. Been here a few times and tried few soups: Sukiyaki- starts off nice and savory but as it boils can get sweet 8/10 Tonkotsu- neutral base not super strong but ok soup 7/10 There's different pillars (classic, premium, wagyu) you can choose to determine if you get the nicer cuts or just regular. I've only done the classic and the meat is still nice and fatty. Premium does include a few more options but for us classic was more than enough. Overall they have a decent selection of foods including classic veg, tofu, fish balls and exclusive jellyfish. Worth a try! read more

Tldr/Overall: it was a nice hotpot experience, not over the top "wow". Soup bases were delicious. Not stellar cleanliness. Parking at Times Sq sucks, go early. Service: our server was sweet 5/5, we had many a good laughs with her. She made sure to use the splash guard while topping up our soup bases. Order items on your own phone, qr code at your table, like many other restos post covid. We had brief service by 3 others who were not as friendly which reduced my rating, they didn't speak to us at all (while refilling soup base without the splash guard and picking up our tip; we gave 26% tip on the post tax amount and they just eyed us after checking.) Food: food selection comes in tiers, which determines your price per person from $35 to $100, with kobe, scallop, abalone, and some wagyu only available in the highest tier. My dinner partners and I agreed that we wouldn't be able to tell which shriveled up piece of meat is which cut/grade once it's all cooked, so we just picked the classic tier. Food came out really fast. The beancurd roll/sheet was my favourite, it was super flavourful from the broth. They were also out of fish tofu, what a bummer. Soup: we had the ox tail and sukiyaki soup bases. (Would love to try the tonkotsu next time!) The soups were sweet and flavourful and gave enough flavour to the cooked foods that I almost didn't need my dipping sauce. Cleanliness: Sauces and condiments at the station were self serve and uncovered. I'm not sure how I feel about that during the current "triple threat" going about right now, but it is what it is. There were also many sauce boats that had a lot of food bits, a couple were even 1cm filled with some liquid, I'm assuming was cleaning water. There was also a small white piece in my bowl, which may have been a piece of tissue, but I didn't want to touch it to find out. Atmosphere: felt a little bit incohesive. The lighting and decor was nice and upwards towards classy, but it didn't suit the open food court style tables/seating. The server robots didn't really fit the classy vibes either, although really cute. There's a tree in the angled table, which I didn't quite understand. In all, decor feels really out of place. Other: I was asked for the phone number for the rsvp when I got there, to "confirm it's [my] friend". It was a bit odd, I'd never been asked to prove our rsvp before, but I guess they have reasons from past experience. The robot servers bring out the food and human servers put them on the tables. They were well programmed, dodging chairs and people. I did really like the led name tags the servers wore, they were big and bright, which added a friendly human element to the whole robotics age. We were really excited to try this place after seeing the amazing reviews. We had made a reservation and to our surprise the place was not busy so we were seated immediately. The look and feel of the place was decent, with private booths and a robot that brought out the food with the assistance of a server. There were 3 levels of meat - basic, premium and super premium. We chose the middle level ~$60 pp plus broth ~$22. The meat was well presented with origins and names on the platter. It was decent quality for the price. Not overwhelmingly amazing but for $60 wasn't expecting that. The broth wasn't great. It was just salty with barely any flavor. Although the service was good, ie they asked what broth we had so they could refill, it just didn't meet our expectations. The rest of the food wasn't up to par for us either. The scallops were still frozen and stuck together. The shrimp was not fresh at all and looked like they died a long time ago. Smelled really fishy too. The soy bean curd rolls were stale. The veggies seemed like they had been in the fridge for awhile and wilted. For appetizers we ordered the squid and the Japanese style clams. Also didn't seem fresh. Overall, we were absolutely disappointed in the quality. Had never been to a hot pot place where everything seemed so stale and must have been sitting around for days. I came here twice this month. First time with a friend and second time bringing relatives visiting from overseas. Restaurant is nice and big. You could book and reserve table through their website. Ours was a party of 8, we were separated to two tables side by side. I wished that we were able to sit together as it was difficult to chat with others at the other table. I really enjoyed the coconut Hokkaido Milk soup base. We opt for the the classic beef AYCE.. and paid cash so the promo is getting 1/2 free lobster each. There is a good variety of food, everything was good. The main thing is the price I feel is considered high. For classic , the bill came up to about $50 +person. read more

I was excited to try Ushi Shabu Shabu and while my dinner and experience was decent, it didn't live up to the cost. To start, the food was good overall. I got the classic beef dinner and the while there were a variety of options, the menu didn't seem as diverse as other hot pot restaurants. I also found the food hit or miss. The veggies all seemed very fresh and clean but I receive a couple trays of meat that looked a bit sickly and sad. Most of the meat were vibrant and fresh looking though. The restaurant overall looked great - very clean, modern, and inviting. There is a well-stocked sauce station, which was clean. And it was fun to watch robo servers delivering food! The service was fantastic! I found everyone very friendly and attentive. Food always arrived quickly and my soup base was filled regularly. I was very impressed with the service. The meal overall was enjoyable but didn't blow me away. However, I find it lacking for the high price point. 2 people ordering the classic beef dinner with a large pot with 2 soup bases came to just over $100 before tip (but including tax). I selected the premium wagyu dinner with 2 flavours for soup (sukiyaki & ox bone soup) and thought the overall experience was quite good! The sukiyaki broth was more sweet and flavourful but the ox bone soup was good too for a more mild taste. Several things I liked about this place: 1) You can make reservations even for small parties through Google 2) There's excellent menu variety on the premium wagyu set - lots of unique appetizers and seafood options outside of the meats (loved the seaweed salad, takowasabi, sesame seasoned baby octopus, tsubu kimchi, fukubukuro, homemade shrimp paste, snakehead fish, and the best was the vancouver clams!!) 3) Easy ordering with your phone (scan QR code) 4) Food comes out quickly 5) Waitresses are attentive and friendly, speedy clean-up and dish removal 6) Customizability of sauce at the sauce station, you can also order an onsen egg from the app Room for improvement: 1) The self-service sauce bar has no covering - can be quite unhygienic 2) Wooden chopsticks feel a bit cheap and rough 3) I tried all of their desserts (except cream puff, they didn't have any) and they were just ok 4) The ordering webpage should have a working "history" tab to see previous orders so you know that they've been successfully placed 5) Robots vs. employees take up all of the aisle space making it difficult to walk up to the sauce station, go to the bathroom, or even leave the restaurant Lastly, a really neat perk of this restaurant is that they have a pretty baller birthday promotion. I like the food. I never went there before. Service was pretty good, it wasn't as I expected, my good friend went there before and he said that the food was good. I will take his word for it. The Ambiance was good, the fire worked, the stove worked and that's all I needed. The ice cream machine worked so I was happy.
