We were in Suite 18, which sits in a separate tower connected to the spa. The room itself was well appointed. You can tell nothing in there was inexpensive, and everything was fresh and well maintained, no wear, no chipped paint, nothing neglected. If I'm being honest, some of styling is starting to feel a touch dated in places, but that's a matter of taste more than quality. One note, and to be totally fair it was an unbelievably hot day: when we returned from dinner the room was in the mid to high 70s, and it took about an hour and a half to cool down. The staff explained we needed to lower the thermostat in 2-degree increments rather than setting it straight to our target, and they were right, it worked. Still, that's a bit of a workaround at this price point. A lovely property with genuinely gracious service. We'd stay again.

Our single bed was quite wide, the ceiling above the bed was very high, but the bathroom was small, had no spare toilet paper, and only two hooks to hang anything, which made it tough to hang clean clothing and towels to dry for two guests who do not share towels. Speaking of which, towels provided were limited, so when I found a stain on my bath towel and requested a fresh one, they brought me a whole set. After our time here I saw a video by theholdernessfamily mentioning hotel bathrooms with barn doors that don't close tightly. I didn't realize that was a thing. But it proved true here! Also clear glass shower doors which make it impossible to share the bathroom with a gal pal while someone is showering. Our across the hall neighbor was loud. It was as if there was an open house party each night from about 10:30pm to 11:45pm with all the loud comings and goings. Their 24 hour gym had a water fountain. They have a Grab & Go stocked with a variety of snacks, drinks, some ice cream, and useful things.

On the 12th floor, our view happened to include what seemed like all of Baltimore proper, including its waterfront. Better yet, there was a couch placed near the window, so you could have a scenic view as you curl up with a book! The water pressure in the shower was some sort of "rainfall" setup but functionally terrible. Still, that's not a reason to deduct a star :) The event spaces were beautiful as well, with wonderful harbor views. I didn't get the breakfast buffet, but my husband did while I got nails done. And sadly, the guy who runs the place is unresponsive and the maintenance guy was not wearing a mask at any point during my stay here (I was the only one that I saw who was), at the height of COVID. And I was told that this was a place where nurses and doctors stay long term due to proximity to the hospital, so these might have been the 50% of nurses who refused the vaccine, because they clearly didn't take it seriously. This Inn is a place where the money goes to the owner but there is no upkeep. He's essentially a slumlord. I imagine he actually visits this place once a year or so, if that. I also asked for a breakdown of room costs per day (they were the same per day) to submit for financial reimbursement, which the owner kept saying he would do, but never did. It was a frustrating stay.

I should have known to lower my expectations and suspect something was awry when I noticed the wilted flowers in the foyer. Apparently, the flowers are refreshed on Thursdays, so I just arrived on the wrong day. But there should never be a wrong day to arrive at the Four Seasons! The air in the hotel lobby was hot and stagnant; I was expecting a cool and aromatic experience upon entry, similar to the Intercontinental or the Sonesta. I tried to ignore the decaying flowers because I was greeted warmly by the doormen and the front desk. I was surprised that I had to ask for slippers as I presumed those, mouthwash, and other toiletries would already be in the room. None of those items were in my room. Shockingly, the robe in my room was dirty! Housekeeping apologized and replaced it within 15 minutes. I was also surprised by how rough the towels were as I am used to Frette and linens of that ilk. This is also supposed to be a resort & spa hotel but it did not feel that way at all. I was also surprised by the brand of soaps and hair products they use here: they smelled like clay. The lotion left a gritty feel on the skin. The products were French (called Codage): Je n'aime pas ça. I went to the gym and was surprised they did not have bar pads for the barbells. If the Portland Harbor Hotel can offer pads for the gym equipment, the Four Seasons can too! In fact, I'm surprised they did not have weightlifting gloves. I was happy to see the orange-infused water and the scented & pre-moistened cold compress clothes. That was nice. The pool was closed for the season, so I could not do that. There was a complimentary sound bath session that I could not partake in since I did not order my room directly with the hotel. I'm not that thirsty for a sound bath but I was hoping to take a regular bath; the hotel does not offer bubble bath. The Portland Harbor Hotel does! I decided to take a shower instead but the faucets are not property calibrated: the hot water is cold & the cold water is hot. Then I tried to rest but I kept hearing doors slam at night and more slamming in the morning. I just assumed it was other guests (since there was a convention this week), but when I went to check-out, I noticed the hotel staff slam a door to a room that only hotel staff have access to near the elevators, you can hear the slams at each end of the hotel corridor. This hotel needs to invest in sound mitigation. I was really hoping for a far better stay as I was contemplating a work retreat here. This was my first experience at a Four Seasons property and it was shockingly disappointing. Baltimore deserves better. This felt more like 2 & half Seasons.

There's a lot of restaurants near this hotel very easy to walk to them and if you want to ride a lime scooter, there are plenty around the area. This hotel room comes with a full kitchen fridge stove microwave and sink. The room is very spacious and comfortable. They don't have a restaurant here but you could go to the Hilton Garden Inn and they have a restaurant that's open from 5 PM to 10 PM. There's a Whole Foods that's five minutes away to grab groceries for your room to be able to cook if you want to cook for yourself here which was nice !

When I first entered the room I noticed it smelled pretty musty. Luckily the windows have a small section that opens. I thought I could open that and air out the room while I went to get dinner. Unfortunately, it didn't help at all. The carpeting and furniture are so gross looking I imagine the smell is coming from that and the window curtains but not really sure. The wallpaper is peeling off but as I was leaving I saw they were peeling it off in the lobby so hopefully they are working on replacing that. Water pressure is okay. If they replaced the carpet and furniture (or at least steam cleaned it) I think that would make a huge difference.

I accidentally booked two separate reservations and was a little confused about how checking in again would work, but they were incredibly helpful and made sure I knew exactly what to do. I really felt like they took care of me throughout my stay. I also had an Amex credit to use, which gave me an excuse to try both the bar and the cafe, and honestly both were phenomenal. The cafe had one of the best breakfast platters I had during my trip, and I loved that it opened so early because it made grabbing breakfast before heading out really convenient. On the other hand, the bar stays open really late, which was also perfect for ending the night. Overall, I just really loved the entire experience here. Between the beautiful rooms, genuinely kind staff, and really good food and drinks, this was such a memorable stay. I will say that the walls are quite thin so you can hear literally everything, but I was lucky and had a pretty polite floor. One of the elevators was broken when I visited (and apparently it's been broken for some time), so I had to account for wait time since the entire building was utilizing this one elevator.

Another small detail I noticed was the quilt detailing was peeling, but underneath was different colored fabric. I'm not sure if the ripping quilts was intentional or not, but it put me off a bit. Other than that, the decor was fabulous. I loved the checkered tiled bathrooms, the leopard print carpet, and canopied beds. For one night, both rooms ran me about $500. Not bad for a luxury hotel, but not cheap either. Check in was seamless, the rooms were clean, and we enjoyed going to the bars inside the hotel including the Ash Bar, Blooms, and Coral Wig. They have very different vibes, but all were top tier. Would stay here again!

They park the cars in a garage across the street. You get an electronic link to request your car I had a King studio suite. It was comfortable. My room was cleaned twice in that 5 day window which was just enough. The common areas were clean. The breakfast offered was good. I stuck to the oatmeal, bagel and coffee. I did have a meal from the bar/hotel restaurant and it was very very good! My room was clean and spacious! I had the issue with the toilet but then also the refrigerator had an ice machine that kept making ice nonstop and made noise on and off throughout the day. My room Was on the 12th floor but the noise outside from the passing traffic and loiters across the street woke me up and kept me up 3 out of those 5 nights. The bed was comfortable and the room was good. The hotel was nice but it's just the noise outside that was the biggest issue.
