Spent 2hrs here flying from MEX- CAE. Great service, appreciated somewhere nice and comfy to go after a long flt. The volunteers are here 24hrs at this location. They don't have any healthy food, jus the basic sandwiches, cookies, ramen noodles, and lemonade. I just needed the close my eyes in a safe environment. Again, I thank everyone for the donations and all the volunteers!! They were very friendly and helpful during my stay. read more

While I am not in the military, nor a civilian contractor any longer, I have been to various USO centers over the years. This is by far is one of the best I've been to, its why I feel its worth five stars, and why I volunteer my spare time here on a very regular basis. There are two USO's at O'Hare Airport, both deserve the five star rating, There is another center open from 6am til 10:30pm at night, in Terminal 3, in the upper level rotunda. But this review is for the 24 hour USO center, in front of security, above Delta ticketing, on the Mezzanine level of Terminal 2. The charter states, the center is open to active duty, reserve, (basically anyone in the Uniformed Services), retired military, and their dependants. To the occasional civilian who thinks their tax dollars pays for all of this, it doesn't. USO's operations are funded solely on donations by private individuals. When I first started volunteering here, the director explained it this way, run the center like it was your home, just ID everyone as they come in. (Anyone that knows me, knows ID everyone that comes to my door.) After signing in, and showing your ID, you can place your bags in our gear room, grab a bite to eat from one of our two refrigerators, one stocked with all sorts of Pepsi products. The other with peanut-butter and jelly, ham and cheese, and turkey and cheese sandwiches, quite often the airport restaurants drop off all sorts of healthy snacks, salads and sandwiches. There is enough sugary junk food here to put the healthiest service member into a diabetic coma, various volunteers source local supermarkets, pastry shops for pies and cakes, and there's a regular supply of fresh flowers in the center. There are three computers on the back wall, but only one works with the printer, there is Wi-Fi, the SSID is a widely held secret amongst non-military O'Hare regulars, just ask the volunteer at the desk how our 'IT manager' is hiding the network this year and how to get on the network, One of the kind but curmudgeonly volunteers (a retired Marine Captain) graciously donated the leather recliners up front. they are by far the most comfortable seats in the center, I want one for my home office! We have a kids room with every imaginable kids DVD's there is for even the most jaded toddler. All in all, probably the best USO you will ever visit, its definitely a favorite of those travelers stranded at O'Hare and considerably better than sleeping on the floor in baggage claim with the homeless populations rifling through your bags.. read more

Wow, all I can saw is WOW! It's very different from the last time I checked into the O'Hare USO. There has been some major upgrades to this place. New computers, couches and privacy rooms. It always amazes me that the USO's across the country are volunteer operated and donation funded. It's amazing what an organization can do when their focus is not making a profit. As always, the USO services, food, books and amenities are free to all traveling service members. If you are in the services which guard our way of life and is stranded at O'Hare (and one day you will be...) you should head towards the L concourse and check out the USO. It's quiet and comfy and they computers in there that will allow you to check your FB or write Yelp reviews (as you can see). If you also need a snack they also have donated food for traveling service members. They used to do some very unhealthy stuff like homemade buttery cookies, cakes, candy of all kinds, but now I see salads and wraps and bottled water. I guess the USO is more conscious about our weigh ins. *Happy Dance* I know I choose to live this crazy, unstable and tough military lifestyle, but it's always nice to come across an organization like the USO in my travels that provide a little bit of comfort. read more

I have been in many USO's never to stay long just a stop so I can take a breath and calm down when the airports are over crowded and my PTSD from 3 tours gets to me I'm always welcome but not in this place. I did what I always do and checked into the app and went in and showed them my Id. They were super rude and looked me dead in the eye and said "leave this place is not for you anymore " You guys suck so hard. Well as far as USO's go... O'hare and Seatac are the best in hours and services as far as I'm concerned. This place is a 24 hour facility where they provide a place to store your bags, big screen tv with a movie playing, 3 computer counsels to use the internet and print, free snacks and drinks, and a place for you to sleep. The person greeting you at the door is super friendly and genuinately thanks you for service your country in what ever way you are. The place is roomy and don't make you feel constricted. As for the snacks it the typical sandwhiches, chips, cookies, coffee, water, juirces with some pop. As all USO is run on donations. read more

For a USO, this one isn't too shabby. It offers a nice, secure place for you to store your bags as you roam the airport (on the outside of security; not beyond). Also nice to stay in it as well. I, personally, stayed when my flight got canceled for the night. One of the best features is that it's open 24 hours a day, even on holidays. There's a dining area that offers the standard refreshments and snacks (juice, water, coffee, cookies, etc). There's free wifi (which O'Hare does not have) and three computers available to use. There's also plenty of outlets available to charge up all your electronic toys. Beyond the dining area, there's a sitting area with a dozen chairs facing a big screen tv. On the side, there are charging stations where you can sit and work on your laptop. In the back, for those with children, I did hear them tell some parents that there was a play room. All in all, this is a comfy facility. Sure, I've seen nicer, but those also weren't open 24 hours (which is what I really needed on this trip). Either way, it operates on donations and volunteers just as all your USOs are. If you have time to stop in, here or at any of them, be sure to give them a well-deserved "thank you". First day back in the USA and we've never felt more disrespected. My fiancé (a disabled veteran) is very sick and in need of a quiet place to rest. We're stranded in the Chicago Airport for the next twelve hours and have no place to go. We went to the USO in terminal 2 looking for help and was denied access. My fiancé has his veteran card but the woman behind the desk simply said it wasn't good enough and turned us away. We felt more respect and compassion from the four other countries we've seen in the last three weeks. The minute we get back to the States and we see nothing but rude and cold-hearted people. Disappointed to see the lack of compassion for a man who risked his life to serve this country. Sick with a terrible flu and no place to go, a disable US Marine Veteran has to sleep on the cold hard ground. read more

This USO is now a far cry from what it was when I passed through on my way to Navy boot camp. To be honest, back then, it was a bit ghetto. Now its been moved downstairs, to a more central location. From what I've seen of O'Hare on my many visits, this USO is the nicest part. Vending machines on location, helpful friendly staff (volunteers?) and clean restrooms. In what can sometimes be a mess of an airport, the USO is a relaxing haven. I only wish that my layover had been a little bit longer! read more

Another great product by USO.. I've spent many hours in this location waiting on flights.. Quiet, there's always food with wonderful staff to help 24hrs a day. This location takes a huge brunt of the Navy recruits going to and from Great Lakes. They handle this task with professionalism. Highly recommended! . read more

USOs are always a big relief for me wherever I travel I would hate to sleep at the airport in public metal benches and overpriced beverages. The staff is always so warm and welcoming at every USO I've been at I always give them a big thank you every time I check in and when I check out. Though this is the only USO I've visited that doesn't have wifi but there is a computer station around the corner if you want to get on the Web. They've even got a children's playroom near the back. This USO is small and quaint, equipped with desktop computers, comfy couches, plenty of drinks and snacks, love their hot dogs!, and small play area for the kiddos. The volunteers here are amazing! I'm a retired vet and was stuck in the O'Hare airport for 36 hours waiting for what would be 3 canceled flights to take off. The USO made me feel like I was at home! Everything (that I've seen, that is) is new, modern and clean. I like that they had a separate charging area for those traveling with their laptops and a separate one for those who needed Internet, and again a separate one for just cell phone users. I ended up here as a transfer, so I have no clue how their security/check-in process in. Overall, no complaints! read more

Can't say enough about USO here. I use it at-least once a month, you will not go hungry! Food plenty full, u won't get internet with drawls! Free In house WiFi. You won't get tired! Very comfortable leather recliners, x15, tables and chairs with electrical x10. Cots to lay and sleep, drinks, food, microwave, all FREE! Very very nice friendly staff that keeps the place very neat and clean! I could go on and on, but you get the idea. read more

Very friendly people greet the Soldiers at door and provide a clean and relaxed environment. The bathrooms are clean enough to eat off of, there are plenty of spaces to charge devices or to use their computers on site. You can have a snack, take a shower, watch movies, or just relax with your family until your next flight. I was HIGHLY impressed. GREAT JOB USO and great look for my home town! read more

Was turned away for the first time in 6 years. I'm an Iraq war veteran SGT, retired. When traveling I only bring my CAC card from 2008, and a VA photo ID card which everybody takes from nearly a dozen other airport USO lounges. When an Army Iraq war veteran gets turned away from the USO, who's only job is to support current and former military personal...that's an end to my donations and loyalty. read more

I love this USO and the volunteer staff were friendly and a breath of fresh air after dealing with the usual annoying airport people. I had about a 2 hour layover and I was starving and thirsty!! I signed in and grabbed a huge bottle of water, an apple, and hardboiled eggs (yay! Sorry people I know they are stinky, but love my protein!) chowed them down and watched a bit of a movie, then grabbed a PB & J sandwich to go along with celery sticks. I loved the healthy options they had rather than the usual candy bars galore. They had cots to sleep on, comfy chairs, bathrooms, microwave, etc. All for free. read more

I have always looked forward to visiting airport USO's. Always great service and friendly people. My sister and 85 year-old Pop were flying Spirit from Chicago to Baltimore and after a 3 hour drive to the airport were met with a cancelled flight and a 14 hour delay. The first people I thought about calling was the USO at O'Hare. I talked to a lady named Jennifer who, in my opinion, is the most awesome person I have ever had the pleasure of talking to. I decided to risk putting my family on a different flight; however, the only one I could find was across town at Midway. Jennifer stayed with my family the entire time, made sure they got in a Lyft, and was responsible for them getting to their new flight on time. She didn't know me or my family, but treated us as we were her own family. I can't explain how grateful I am for her assistance. God bless the USO. read more

I have used many USO'S throughout my military travels but I actually NEEDED the USO in Chicago O'hare. If you were in Chicago between 20-22 July 2016 you know what a mess it was. After my flight got cancelled due to mechanical issues, I went to the USO in terminal 3 until they closed, then I moved to the all night USO in terminal 2. Seeing as how I did not have my luggage, they provided me with a tooth brush, toothpaste, deodorant, food and a place to sleep for the night, all free of charge. They also helped this old soldier get squared away with UBER for transportation the next day. I have always appreciated the USO but after spending the night with them and watching them get soldiers and families situated, I have a much deeper respect for them. so next time you pass through a USO, don't just snack and sleep, make sure you leave some money so they can take care of the next guys and gals. read more

As always, a comfortable respite for military individuals and their families amidst the chaotic environment that is O'Hare and all airports in general. This new and larger USO has been revamped and improved and definitely exudes a much more laid back atmosphere with a drop of luxury to it. But keep in mind that there are 2 USOs inside O'Hare... this one is outside security. read more

It is outside of security. There are announcements all throughout the airport to go there, but they don't tell you that. Walked 20 minutes to get there and couldn't even do so. I don't blame the USO, but be aware of this when you start heading that way. read more

USO is a great organization, but O Hare USO falls short of what is offered at other airports.

My daughter and I got stuck overnight in O'Hare when our flight got cancelled due to weather on July 13th. The airline was not helpful at all. That was not the case with the USO. The staff was so warm and welcoming to us. They gave us cots and blankets, food and personal hygiene items and most important of all, comfort. The actions of the volunteers inspired me to volunteer with the local airport USO. read more
