After visiting this post office on a Sunday (for holiday shipping hours), I must say that I was quite impressed with the cleanliness and quick service. I walked in with my package and was immediately assisted by a post office worker who wanted to know if there were any special shipping instructions. I never thought I'd be writing a review for a post office but I've got to give their passport office props. I had a 10:15 appointment on a Friday morning and they were ready within a few minutes of that time. Nate was amazing and whipped through the application process in minutes. He even took a great passport photo that I'm proud to have. I had attempted to get one taken at Walgreens earlier in the week and that lady was making up rules, like that my ears had to show in the picture and I'm not a big fan of my ears. Since that didn't appear to be a actual rule according to the official passport photo website, I skipped that photo and opted to get it done at the actual location. All that was requested here was that I push my slightly side swept "bangs" off my eyebrow a fraction of an inch. He even showed me the photo and asked if I wanted him to take another. In the end, I was very happy with the results and can't wait to get my first passport! I had to wait a few minutes to check out with the cashier as there were a couple people ahead of me. I didn't catch her name but she was very friendly and sweet, asking me about where I planned to travel to, as we completed the payment. Thankfully they were able to use my debit card to create a money order right there as I don't even own a check book anymore and didn't realize that I couldn't use a credit card for payment. All in all, I highly recommend this spot for all your passport needs! read more

I came in to renew my passport today after dropping off my daughter at school. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes with no appointment. The lady who helped me was very sweet and nice. Thank you for your help today. Please note, this experience is based on me coming in prepared: forms filled out and all documents needed. I would suggest the same for others. I went to this office to get refund for my international postal money orders. The clerk at the counter had no idea what to do with international postal money orders, so she went to ask her supervisor for help. I was hoping this will render a transition smoothly. But no, this lazy supervisor had no idea about postal orders either, gave the clerk a wrong instruction instead of checking. The clerk told me that I need to take this orders back to the postal office where they were issued. And she also said that actually I can cash out postal orders at any bank facilities, but not here. This is all lies. Later I spoke with USPS customer service and they confirmed ALL post office can provide me refund for international postal money orders. I don't need to go back to the office that issued orders. Also only USPS can make refund against postal orders, no other bank facilities. I am very disappointed with their service, and I wish they investigate/ confirm the information before providing to the customer. read more

I got a passport before their walk in hours ended (make sure you go there before 3, because they only do appointments after that) Nick asian dude with right arm sleeve tattoo was funny and knowledgeable about the whole experience, definitely didn't expect to be treated with excellent customer service here lol Filled out my application, waited in the waiting room, took my picture and all that within 15 minutes! This post office is so clean and well organized, I love it! I came to drop off something that I was returning to amazon. I didn't even have to go inside the post office. There was a wonderful woman at the entrance who was able to assist me - without me having to wait in line. I am used to the Mira Mesa post office that is very small and located in the middle of the busiest street. This location is so much better. parking is close with several free spots and the staff is so kind and helpful. I will definitely be coming back here. read more

I came to the Human Resources location of this post office to ask a simple question, and I can not put into words how unbelievably rude they are. I was left waiting outside after asking through their intercom for some assistance. They kept me waiting as they completely ignored me. If it weren't for a lady who worked in a different department and let me in, then they would have kept me waiting for hours. Words cannot explain how ill-mannered the people in the Human Recource department are. The comments they said to me along with the horrible attitude make me question why they are even working here. I had excellent service today at this post office. I came with a bag full of miscellaneous items that needed to be packaged and sent to Texas, Montana, and Northern California. Annie immediately stepped over to where I was trying to figure out what kind of boxes and mailers to use and began giving me excellent instruction on how best to send all my disparate items. I came mid-day and there were no lines at all. Once Annie had finished getting me ready to go pay, Pablo took over, clearly explaining rates, the date my items would arrive at their destinations, and how I could track them until they did. I went yesterday to submit an application for a passport. I was out in 10 min, the gentleman that helped me was super nice and helpful. He assisted me in completing some of the forms that I had filled out wrong and helped me take new pictures as the ones I took were not accepted. When I arrived to the Post Office I ended up parking in the wrong place and trying to go in through a wrong door. An employee that was waiting outside directed me to the right entrance, it was greatly appreciated. I have never been to this post office before, it is conveniently located and there is plenty of parking; however, the customer service there was questionable. This is why I am giving this post office 1 star only. I am 7 months pregnant and wanted to return and ship a crib mattress. The crib mattress wasn't particularly heavy, just bulky and uncomfortable to carry. I had no problem with carrying it to the counter myself; however, I would have expected USPS to take it from there; instead, the female USPS employee made me carry it by myself behind their counter, into their back room, lift it in a bin and then had the guts to tell me that I needed a man to take care of this kind of stuff for me. What if I was a single mom or my husband was deployed? In the meantime, two male employees were standing next to the counter door that I had to walked through and had a nice little chat while watching me carry that mattress without offering some help either. USPS, no, thank you, I didn't need a man to take care of this for me, just a little bit of human kindness and common courtesy, especially from a female USPS employee in lending a pregnant woman a hand, would have been appreciated. read more

Offering feedback for Passport Office in the Carmel Mountain Post Office, San Diego County, CA. On Feb. 10, 2015 the woman working at the counter was extremely rude to everyone waiting to apply, including the people with appointments. Her name is Lee. She is severely lacking in basic common courtesy and treated us like we were criminals. Very unnerving. Lee was ready to turn me and my three children away despite the fact that we were the first people in line and showed up early for our appointment. Inside the office, however, our cleark, Elaine, facilitated our documentation successfully while being kind, friendly and easy to communicate with. I am a small business owner and there is no way I would allow Lee to have contact with the public. Great post office though. Even have a drive through. read more

I LOVE this post office more than orgasms, chocolate, and bath products combined. Ok, maybe not that much. But it's still the best damn post office in San Diego County. I prefer to ship my packages from here, because I NEVER have to wait in line. I think I waited in line once, something like two days before Christmas, and even then, the line moved quickly. The employees here are awesome and friendly. They don't give me attitude like I get at other lucky-I-don't-name-them locations. Best post office I've ever been to! 1) convenance of the drive thru drop offs. Never a line, always a quick way to drop off your mail with faith it will get to its destination ASAP. 2) customer service inside is incredible. Or so I thought. I came here to send a couple of letters certified w/ return receipt; the moment I entered this place, I was greeted with warm smiles and friendly hello's from all the lady postal workers. It was like walking off of a plane at some tropical destination and being greeted by islanders who place leis around your neck and hand you a mai tai followed by a hot rock massage (maybe I exaggerate a bit)! So I'm just standing there not sure where to go to do this thing, and a lovely lady pops her head up from behind the counter and says, "I would like to help you over here". WAIT....she'd LIKE to help me?! Surely this is not a post office....am I on candid camera?! Anyways, she tells what to fill out, and interjects some friendly banter. She notices that an address looks funny on one of my envelopes, and decides she should double check the address because she wouldn't want me to waste my money. If you ever want to be reminded that there are some Federal Government managed services that run effectively...run, drive, walk or whatever to this post office. Today, I was reminded why I go out of my way to do my mailings here as the person was extremely helpful and cheerful in helping me today. I have used this Post Office for over 6 years now and have always felt welcomed and that there were competent working there. I can't say that for all the Post Offices that I have visited. I mailed a book priority mail to a friend and somehow I managed to messed up on folding the oversize envelope. The customer service person ensured that it was sealed on the corners by applying some extra durable stickies and she also noticed that my pen I used to write the address had smeared a bit. She fixed that by putting some clear tape over so that it wouldn't progress any further. This post office has a huge retail area and the service is great! Nice people and a clean well organized layout. The path to the outdoor mail boxes must have been designed by a frustrated scientist who had failed basic rat maze pathways. It is very challenging to determine how to get to those mailboxes. I hope the people at Carmel Mountain Ranch Post Office read these reviews, because I don't know how else to complain. (And the same probably goes for other reviewers on here). The last two times I 've visited the P.O. at CMR, the 'retail stamps desk' (the one in the lobby) has been closed. Therefore, I then have to stand in a long line of people sending packages just to get stamps. If they have this desk, WHY DON'T THEY OPEN IT?!! Also, the woman that is always manning the 'business' line (on the far right) has no customer service skills, is rude and should be fired. She never changes. I stand in line hoping I won't get her and it seems like I do more often than not. She does not make it a very pleasant experience. How do people like her stay in a job?! It is a nice facility with plenty of parking and passport service, greeting cards, self service, P.O. boxes, etc., but the customer service needs to improve A LOT. And please, have EVERY desk manned. Thank you so much to Lee and Jackie!!! We needed my daughter's passport renewed. All the other post offices/govt offices, etc closed early and had recordings. When I called the Rancho Carmel Post Office and Lee answered. She told me that all the walk - in appointments had been taken. But then she asked when we were traveling and called over to the passport area. She said if we hurried over they could probably fit us in. But we were in Point Loma and we had to go home to Mira Mesa to get the old passport. By the time we got to Rancho Carmel the Passport Renewal door was closed and locked. I knocked a couple times and we were getting ready to leave when Jackie opened the door. She said "My supervisor Lee just spoke to me and told me you might be here." I live in Hillcrest and visit the local post office once a month. It's a small one and there's always a line and I like the majority of the workers in there. Always polite and I'm sure it's a tough job. I would give it a higher star rating but, yesterday I went in there and there was very long line because of the social distancing and I saw a tall man, he was servicing the self-serve machine and was not wearing a mask! This didn't Stan well with me and he walked in and out of the main mail room several times. Still without a mask! There were probably over 20 people in line having to past him and it really made me mad. So, when I finally received the mail person I told her about the situation. I told her what he look like, what he was wearing and without a mask. She informed me that he was the Post Master! WOW!! To my disbelief I said I want to report him. She suggested I go online and report him and I said please give me a piece of paper and I will write it down for you which I did. She also said he never wears a mask ... and I said that's a great way to be a role model in this time of a crazy virus! Three lanes of drive up mailboxes and a drive up postal services window. This is the "cadillac" of San Diego Post Offices - probably because it is the main distribution center for mail in San Diego. I went here to apply for my passport and the woman was well organized and had me in and out in about five minutes flat. Excellent service and friendly staff and like other reviews have stated they manage to take care of the building really well. I have never had so much important mail lost as I have had lost in the past couple years. The last straw was the overnight express of some crucially important documents which instead took 2 days to arrive. That cost me a lot of money. Sure, I got a refund for their ineptitude, but it in no way compensated me for the opportunity loss and aggravation. They have lost mail which included my birth certificate, ss number, checks on which I have had to make stop payment. Generally, nothing but a government DRONE operation which makes congress look competent. I am truly appalled by the poor service we taxpayers are getting these days from our government institutions. TERRIBLE. It's time they were held accountable. This just in........the post office is raising their rates on priority mail about 20%. That's just about par for the course. This Post office is AMAZING!!!! *cue harps and rays of sunshine from the heavens*. After frequenting the tiny, cramped post offices in the burbs of L.A., with only 1 clerk and 15 people in line ahead of you, this place, in comparison, is like POSTAL HEAVEN on earth!!!!! K, maybe I'm getting way too worked up here, but I've seriously never seen such a huge post office with a huge parking lot and a huge bunch of PO Boxes (not that I use one, but it's cool to see a whole bunch of them). I pretend like I'm walking down a fashion runway from the parking lot to the front door, whip that door open with sass, flip my packages into the package chute thingamajigger and parade back out with the knowledge that I did not have to wait in any sort of line and can go on with my day, easy breezy. Cons: 1) Long walk to get inside 2) New rule - They now have to charge us for TAPE when asking to use a small amount of theirs for our envelope packages (large boxes I can understand). 3) They made me tape the shipping label on my envelope size package and refused to do it. Didn't know where I was going, signs were barely visible and there were barely any people outside to ask for directions. I walked in circles for about 15 minutes until I found the proper entrance. I was here yesterday to have a package shipped and was almost shocked at how kind and helpful the lady in the front was. Carmen greeted me warmly upon my arrival, helped me go over my shipping options to determine the best price, gave great advice on which boxes to use, helped me get to the front of the line to expedite my trip, and was overall an incredibly kind and patient person. She definitely deserves a raise. This experience is in sharp contrast to many I've had at the post office in Hillcrest where my P.O. box is located. There I've been yelled at and given attitude for asking simple questions so to say my experience yesterday at Carmel Mountain USPS was much better is a huge understatement! Placed an order for product on the 5th of February. Arrived at San Diego, CA on the 6th. Estimated delivery day: February 8th. Date today: February 17. Still no package. Tracking has the package still in San Diego, CA. Tracking number 9405515901485338329017. Tried calling to have my local office call me back. Unsure why this happened as my local office clearly hasn't received my package. Backtrack 30 days. Ordered from same website and was shipped out next day. Arrived in San Diego the following day after shipment. Took 10 business days and 14 standard days to receive item when paid extra for 2 day shipping. Item was never scanned again until delivered. Starting to see a pattern. Result: This sort facility is a joke. I will avoid using USPS whenever possible with any warehouse or website based out of California for fear of it being sent to this facility. After reading through all the reviews, other people should use caution when available. Something clearly needs to be done with this place. In my opinion, the entire staff should be fired and new staff brought in with stricter supervision. read more

I know the staff that work here work really hard. I've had nothing but positive experiences when I go into the lobby for services. My problem is with the carriers in the neighborhoods. Again, it's no walk in the park when you're out in the Southern California sunshine day in and day out slipping mail into boxes. Some have driving routes and some have walking routes. However, for years I've gotten certified mail from various senders. Maybe one out of every 20 items, the carrier has attempted to deliver to the door of my residence. Instead, the certified letter slip is placed in my mailbox so that I can make the trek over to the post office to pick up my letter. Some of the items I've had delivered were time sensitive, such that I've missed deadlines as I haven't regularly had time during the work week to head that way. If they had extended hours, it would help, but they keep cutting services and charging more for what they do. From my inquires, the carriers are supposed to attempt to deliver certified letters to the front door of the residence. Hasn't happened in quite some time. I think my delivery person has changed numerous times over a 5 year span. There have been many jokes that carriers take their time when delivering mail and don't care too much that it gets delivered on a timely basis. Seinfeld's friend, Newman showed one of these such parodies. Is this the mail carrier's true color? Maybe, maybe not. I know when growing up I had a great carrier that delivered mail to mail family for years. Has that type of service gone by the wayside? Doing more with less?!?! read more
