    Mutton Dum Biryani
    P A.

This review is for mutton dum biryani that is available only Fri through Sunday. Been in the bay for over 15 years and tasted every popular place in south bay and east bay, I would say this is the truly authentic dum biryani I ever had. They use fresh goat meat, hence succulent with perfect amount of spices. As you open the box you get a smell of cloves and cardamom. The salan and raita is on the thinner side which is how it should be. You have option to order double masala which makes it on the spicier side. From now onwards this would be my go to place for dum Biryani. One improvement they can do is use bigger box. As you take it in the plate it creates a mess.

On the menu it was written that it would be "very mild" but was actually spicy Too much cinnamon. Every bite I have remove the cinnamon before chewing into it They could make it better Service was good

    Store didn't honor this offer.
    Naresh A.

I ordered the ghee roast paneer keema biryani family pack, and it had way too many cinnamon sticks in every bite--definitely overkill. I also tried the complimentary paneer 65, which had a nice flavor, but the paneer was raw and chewy. The biryani had a good flavor overall, but it didn't taste very authentic to me. Service was a bit slow; we waited about 15 minutes even though no one else was in line, but I don't mind waiting for fresh food. Lastly, they didn't honor the free biryani Yelp check-in offer, which was a bit disappointing. There are few tables near the food truck which are good enough for sitting down and having a meal.

Kitchen. What is synthetic motor oil doing there ?

Tried Paneer Biryani, tasted great but had a stomach upset next day. Dasher sent a picture of their kitchen, what is Synthetic motor oil cans doing in their kitchen? See the pic

No meat, bland rice. Not really biryani, poorly made "meat" pulao. Hope they can do better if I take another chance.

On this visit, we ordered the Tawa Okra Fry, and it was easily my favorite dish. If you're an okra fan, this one is a must-try. The smaller okra pieces gave it a nice crunch, and it was packed with flavor. We also had the Aloo Gobi, which was excellent. The potatoes and cauliflower were cooked perfectly and coated in a delicious gravy that paired wonderfully with rice and garlic naan. Another standout was the Chicken Tikka Kabab. It was juicy, flavorful, and simply delicious. The service was top-notch, with the staff being friendly and helpful in guiding us through the menu. The restaurant was also very clean and welcoming. Everest is truly a hidden gem in North San Jose and a place I'll definitely be returning to.

I normally avoid Indian food as they tend to be too strong in flavor and too spicy, but this Gobi coconut is not spicy at all and it's some kind of coated cauliflower with a creamy coconuty sauce, I ate a whole plate of it. On the other hand, I don't like their Fish 65 as each piece is so small that I couldn't even believe fish meat can be this small size.

So far my experiences here have been pleasant, with the service being friendly and there being an ample amount of seating inside. I've noticed that the food tends to run on the spicier side (we ordered mild and yet it was still spicy, though perhaps just a sign of my spice tolerance failing me), but outside of that it tasted good. Panni Puri - This was my first time trying a panni puri and it tasted really good, even though I found it spicy (we ordered mild). I especially loved the texture of the onions inside of it. I ate it earlier on which made it harder for me to tell which other dishes were spicy and which ones weren't at the time as a result of its lingering spiciness, but I would happily order it again given the opportunity. Punugulu/Veggie Puff/Vegetarian Fried Rice - All three of these were good and I do recall them being non-spicy. The veggie puff was especially refreshing after trying to get through the paneer pulav Mirchi Bajji - These were also good and surprisingly not as spicy as I thought they would be, considering that they have chili peppers in them Naan with House Vegetable Curry - The vegetable curry was really spicy and it took me a while to realize this because I was still dealing with the effects of the panni puri while I was eating this. Had I not brought some of it home as leftovers I probably would've thought that this was non-spicy Paneer Pulav - Much spicier than expected. I needed to use some of the curd to tone it down but it was still good. The texture of the rice was good too The cold drinks on their menu come in a reusable bottle and from their display I can assume that their desserts are the same way. So far the ones I've tried (mango lassi, rose milk, and chikoo shake) have been refreshing. There's also a falooda section that closes at around 8:00 pm, but I haven't been able to try them yet as both times we got there past eight. Overall a pleasant experience in spite of the spiciness. Perhaps one day I'll be strong enough to handle it without the curd, but it'll probably take a couple of additional visits before I can.

Buffet available all seven days, weekend buffet is slightly more expensive but has a larger spread. **AMBIANCE: large floor to ceiling height but the place is small, it felt real cramped during the weekend buffet when it was packed with people. Their service area is also tight. They had to put two dishes in each chaffing dish to optimize. Weekday buffet was not as packed and i infact saw a huge corporate team gathered for lunch. ***FOOD: doesn't feel like a luxurious buffet due to lack of space but they did have a decent spread with 3-4 veggie appetizers, 3-4 non veg appetizers, 4-5 desserts, Pani puri, fresh table side naan (which was done very beautifully), two varieties of biryani, fried rice, indo Chinese items, 3-4 varieties of non veg curries, 3-4 varieties of veg curries, salad, drinks etc. As with any buffet there will be hits and misses, I for one enjoyed the varied options and the unlimited Pani puri though it was on the sweeter side. The weekend buffet was definitely worth the price tag of $23, the weekday buffet on the other day felt expensive at $20 as the number of items were significantly lower.

It's a bit dark and warm in the restaurant... You order at the kiosk and wait for your food to be made from the kitchen. A wow factor was seeing the pani puri made and filled with toppings live. It took about 10-15 minutes for our order to be complete! We ordered 2 appetizers and 3 entrees for 3 people to share family style. Apps: - Rice: can't go wrong with carbs - Garlic Naan: big 4 pieces that are fluffy, crispy, and lots of flavor Entrees: - Butter Chicken: a classic staple and lots of chicken that was tender, juicy, and so much saucy flavor - Dahi Puri: a good portion of 8 and it was so filling because of the potato and just a flavor bomb that explodes with so much complex flavor of sweet, creamy, crunchy, and more! Best to eat this first before it gets too soggy. - Achari Chicken Tikka: lots of meat here as well, with more spicy flavors in this dish - Daal Makhani: hearty lentil soup! Great experience! We were stuffed!

Since you're also getting roti or naan, this is backwards to me. Unless you're a carbatarian, get the regular entree and rice and bread on the side to balance the ratios. They don't have enough vegetarian items that we want to eat from them again, now that we've tried them a couple times we'll move on to other local Indian restaurants. We recommend: -Malai Kofta: good sauce flavor, though neither the sauce or the kofta were what we're used to from previous favorite Indian restaurants. The kofta are very fluffy but bland + Punjabi Kadhi Pakoda: good sauce flavor, and the spinach pakoras were good. This sauce has a kick, so it's also good with raita. + Paneer lababdar: good flavor of sauce and cheese -Aaloo tikki chaat: good, I liked the mix of flavors. +naan was good, nice chewy texture and large size We don't recommend: -Bhalla Papdi Chaat: I liked this but my husband didn't. I mainly liked the sauces and the papadi (the crackers I got did not look homemade), so I would try their other appetizers instead. FYI, it doesn't come with pomegranate seeds like in the photograph. -Tandoori Broccoli: huge disappointment, inedible. They either used super old bitter broccoli, or massacred the flavors. It had to go straight into the compost. Neither of us could stand it. Looks like they took it off the menu. -Palak pakodi chaat: so salty it burned my tongue. Saltiest pakora I've ever had. -Amritsari chole: I wasn't a fan of the flavor of this and would have tossed it but my husband thought it was ok and was willing to eat it.
