I think I've found my favorite Indian restaurant in the area. Everest serves Indian-inspired Nepali cuisine, offering unique dishes like chow mein, momos (Nepali dumplings), and Manchurian chicken, blending Indian flavors with a touch of Chinese influence. On this visit, we ordered the Tawa Okra Fry, and it was easily my favorite dish. If you're an okra fan, this one is a must-try. The smaller okra pieces gave it a nice crunch, and it was packed with flavor. We also had the Aloo Gobi, which was excellent. The potatoes and cauliflower were cooked perfectly and coated in a delicious gravy that paired wonderfully with rice and garlic naan. Another standout was the Chicken Tikka Kabab. I normally avoid Indian food as they tend to be too strong in flavor and too spicy, but this Gobi coconut is not spicy at all and it's some kind of coated cauliflower with a creamy coconuty sauce, I ate a whole plate of it. The staff was busy handling multiple pickup orders and chatting among themselves, didn't pay immediate attention, and didn't come across as particularly friendly. There were several pickup orders ahead of us. We noticed our order and asked if it was ready; they said it would take another 15 minutes. When we came back, they handed us the same order we had already seen earlier. Veg chowmein: Nice smoky flavor and decent overall. Portion size was decent for the price. However, it felt oily and not particularly high quality. Veg momo platter: The momos were generously filled and had decent flavor, but the outer coating was too thick. The "tandoori" momo wasn't actually tandoori--just red-colored. The deep-fried momo was chewy. Overall, for the price, the food didn't feel justified and wasn't great in terms of quality. read more

Great place to get Nepalese food. The menu is huge, so I definitely haven't tried everything on it, but there's a few staples I like coming back to. I like the 12pc momos where you can try a couple different types/flavors (steamed, deep fried, pan fried, tandoori) -- you can get them separately, too. I don't love the noodles they come with; they taste really plasticky. The garlic naan here is great and packaged really nicely in foil, and a few other dishes like the aloo gobi mattar and everest gobi coconut are pretty decent too. Took a picture of the butter chicken and spoon for size/portion comparison. The tandoori chicken half is only two pieces compared to full (4 pieces). I'm guessing a lot of reviews were rewritten with ChatGPT to make it extra or grand. Lots of free parking right outside this corner restaurant makes it east for a quick pick up and go. Best part - it's open till 1 am!! So for all the midnight snackers and people like me who cant eat dinner at 7 pm, this is good to know!! The servers are less and you need to get their attention to order and pay. They literally give a chicken leg quarter and call it 'half chicken' that's cut in two pieces. It's false advertising imo. Ordering via the website didn't work well for me. It said the food will take 20mins. I went to pick up after 30mins and they still hadn't processed the order yet. Overall it close to 45-50mins to get food. Super tasty food We were here on the weekend and it was pretty busy. We had to wait for about 20 mins to get the table, however the food here is worth the wait. Because of the crowd, service was a bit slow. I honestly detest those green colored veg Momos, that a lot of restaurants in the bay area serve. Momos here were such a welcome change. We had their Titanic Momo plate and it was tasty. Our friends had fish and chicken coconut curry that was good too. Tandoori Roti was nice. The star of the evening was Veg Chowmein though... Over the years, I have been to both their mountainview location and san jose location several times. I almost always came here on those rare occasions to get a late night meal since it was one of the few options open late at night. It's a great option for a late night meal when in a hurry. Although, I would definitely not come here during the day when I have plethora of better options to choose from in the same cuisine. So take your pick. This time I came to the San Jose location and tried the Everest special chicken momo, chicken lollipop, veg chowmein and chilli chicken. The chicken momo's outer covering is quite thick, the meat inside is decent. Nothing special to mention about it. The chicken lollipop was fresh and served hot with a side of some chutneys. The lollipop was a better dish than the momos suprising since their momos is supposed to be their special dish. The veg chowmein was cooked well, lacked flavor, had decent amount of thinly sliced veggies. The chilli chicken wasn't spicy, had plenty of bell peppers and onion but again lacked flavour. One thing synonymous with all their dishes is they all good when served so the presentation is good but they don't taste as good as they look. If only they improve the flavors this place would be a winner. However, I should note that their service is amazing, the staff is very sweet and accommodating. read more

I absolutely LOVE this place. My family and I have been here maybe 5+ times and always had an amazing experience. The service, the music, and more than anything....THE FOOD. I've tried so many things off the menu at this point and never had anything I don't like. Their dry Gobi Manchurian is a fan favorite and always so amazing and just the right amount of crunchy. We also got their Chili Chicken and the California Spicy Chow Mein. The chow mein was a new dish for us and it was super good! If it's not spicy enough for you, just add in a healthy dose of the sauces it comes with and it will become even better. If you can't tell by now, this is one of my favorite momo places. The menu is huge so we will definitely revisit whenever we have the cravings for it. Chicken biryani ($15.99) - 5/5 stars. This was the most colorful and flavorful biryani I ever had. It's a quite large portion and the raita served with it made it perfect. Butter chicken ($16.99) - 4/5 stars. Pretty good, however, we were served the butter chicken after the biryani so it felt like it had less flavor. Garlic naan ($3.99) - 5/5 stars. This had so much garlic aroma and flavor, and it was just the perfect texture. It's way better than any other restaurants I've had naan at before. Special Himalayan Steamed Momo ($13.99 for 10 pieces) - 5/5 stars. Also one of the better momos I've had. Overall: 4.75/5 stars. Wow. Flavor bombs, brilliant spice levels and great size per cost!! What else do you need. The Bay Area is no slob when it comes to ethnic food, but there aren't a lot of Himalayan food options. A wonderful fusion of South and East Asian flavors (think Indian food meets low mein) I had a bit of it on the East Coast but was happy to see Everest in a small shopping center near my home. Ordered a smattering of their very large (and Veg friendly) menu to go. The City chicken was slamming and the chicken was not dried out. The tandori momos were very unique and packed with flavor while the classic momos were clean, straightforward and delicious. The goat Biryani was packed with flavors and chunks of meat. Great food! Hidden gem! I've eaten in a couple of times and had great experiences. More recently I ordered takeout. Unfortunately, somehow they missed our rice order even though they repeated it back. They didn't charge for it but we were surprised when we got home.
