San Jose certainly has its share of local banh mi gems, but I jokingly told the staff at the front counter that I'm surprised they haven't opened a location in San Jose to serve the Vietnamese community there, too! Truthfully, I just want them closer to me so I don't have to make the drive. :P I got a large combo of SaiGon's Signature which was the classic cold cut sandwich with Peach Strawberry fruit tea. The first thing that immediately struck me upon first bite was the ASMR-worthy crunch of the baguette with a soft, pillowy chew for the interior. You can tell the bread is made with care, and for me, great banh mi always starts with great bread. The fillings were just as enjoyable. While I thought the protein could have used a touch more seasoning, it didn't take away from the overall quality or experience. This is the flavor profile I still expect from a cold cut sandwich. There was a healthy slathering of pate with just the right amount of pickled vegetables to bring in that brightness to balance it out. I bought a large sandwich with the intention to bring the other half home, but that was a total failure. Both the hubby and I ended up eating our entire sandwiches there! Oh, and my fruit tea was yummy and refreshing! Can't make it to East San Jose? Saigon Breadfast is a great alternative. It's absolutely worth giving them a try!

Parking can be hard to find when it's busy. It has some interior tables but it's mostly a take and go place. I ordered my Tuna Lover Bowl at the counter, the server was a little difficult to understand through the barrier. It's custom made and there are a lot of selections but I basically got no rice and lots of veggies with the assorted tuna cubes and Krab salad. I paid at the other end of the counter, and they weren't prepared for cash, but I had exact change including tip. Everything was fresh and tasty. The seasoned tuna didn't have strong flavor. The tiny Wasabi packets were very potent. I was happy with my poke, a good value and will repeat.

Since a few people were liner up at the kiosks and we wanted to secure a table, my friend and I decided to order via their website. Ordering was seamless and I liked that you could pick a bowl and customize it vs creating one from scratch. I got the yuzu ponzu salmon bowl and added double avocado to it. It was delicious the avocado was so creamy. I ate the entire bowl and left no crumbs. It did seem like there was a lack of organization in there, because I noticed a big shelf behind the kiosks with a qr code to order online (which is what we did) so we thought mobile orders would be put on the shelf, but saw nothing was getting put on it. Took longer than the ETA when ordering and when I went to the counter to see if its ready, the first staff said no when I gave my name, but then someone else grabbed the bag which was behind the person that said no. Not a huge deal but it did delay us a little.

The staff made us feel welcomed right away. They offer a simpler menu of authentic Korean food, which I appreciate. Plus, the lively K-pop music playing in the background keeps the energy up! The food hit the spot! I loved that the Bonchon (small, delicious side dishes) were automatically served with our main meal. We chose the Stone Bowl Bibimbap, which arrived with a wonderful sizzle (pro tip, don't mix the ingredients right away, let it sit for several minutes to allow the rice to crisp up in the Stone bowl !) Though the toppings were straightforward, they tasted fresh with that satisfying crispy-ish rice layer at the bottom. Highly recommend for a reliable and delicious Korean meal!

Sudam Bunsik took over Von's, now serving "Tiger Mom's Comfort Food". Same owners, and they also own Sudam in Los Altos (never tried). Currently soft opening with a grand opening of 9/1/25. Open for takeout, delivery, and indoor dining. M E N U Array of Korean street food: Kimbap, noodles, soups, tteokbokki, and more. They still serve KFC. Beer and soju available. F O O D * Complimentary Banchan - Kimchi, cucumber kimchi, fish cakes, pickled radish, and seaweed flakes: https://tinyurl.com/48js9cz7 Our fav was the kimchi, mildly spicy with a nice tang. * Crab Mayo Kimbap ($8.50): https://tinyurl.com/25fhu3xh Needs work, very plain and bland. Rice heavy with little surimi with some non-traditional ingredients like iceberg lettuce and arugula. Needed to be wrapped much tighter as it unraveled and broke apart when picking up. Also, you only receive 1/2 roll (5 pc) for the price of a whole roll at other Korean restos. * "Bibim Naengmyeon" - Spicy Cold Buckwheat Noodles ($22): https://tinyurl.com/2esmftne Bibim naengmyeon is cold noodles mixed in a spicy gochujang-based sauce (no broth). I was confused when mul naengmyeon (noodles in an icy broth) arrived with a squirt of the spicy sauce (not spicy). Apparently, that's their style since I later found out they serve the same version at their Los Altos sister resto. I like the bouncy, chewy buckwheat noodles but they could have been colder. Topped with beef, pickled radish, cucumbers, and half an egg. Wish there was Korean pear. A side of white vinegar is provided. No hot mustard. * Bulgogi Dupbap: Stir-fried Beef w/ vegetable, rice ($26): https://tinyurl.com/dr8xtc4x We ordered the jeyook/dwaeji bulgogi (spicy pork) but received this instead. Didn't want to waste food so we didn't send it back. The bulgogi slices were thicker than usual and the marinade ran too sweet. It was a bit wet, no char. Served with a mound of white rice and side of shredded cabbage with a sweet mayo dressing. S E R V I C E Cordial and fast. A M B I A N C E Modern casual with K-pop playlist and K-pop playing on the TVs. P A R K I N G Plentiful parking in the plaza. Overall, their style of K food is different than what I'm used to (2.5 stars). But, there's not many options for K food in the MV area so try it for yourself to see if it's your jam. Giving them grace for their soft opening, 3.5 stars rounded up for a small local business.

Lunch: *Sikhye Pumpkin- Korean Sweet Drink *Abalone Galbi Tang *Spicy Wagyu Oxtail Jjim [medium spice level] *Japchae *Chinese Date Dessert Thank you to Ms. Jennifer for being so patient, helpful, and informative with the menu and its offerings. Your input did not fail and your attentive service is unmatched. Food: Everything was delicious, including all 10 of the different banchan provided. My most enjoyed sides were: seasoned squid, pickled radish cubes, & the crunchy root. The japchae was good- nothing great. The best part of this dish was the thick chewy noodles, flavors were alright. The abalone galbi tang was delicious- the broth was clean, beefy, and deep in flavor. The huge chunks of meat were tender, falling right off the bones. The spicy wagyu oxtail jjim was the highlight of my meal. Oxtails were cooked to perfection- tender, gelatinous in the right places. The sauce was rich, flavorful and tasted so good smothered over the purple rice. 10/10, I would recommend the oxtail jjim to everyone! 5/5 stars for the yummy eats. Pricing is kind of high IMO and the portions are small but the high quality and delectable taste is undeniable. Another 5/5 stars for the staff who is all so very kind and pleasant. Jennifer, you honestly made our very first visit so memorable. We cannot thank you enough for your time & sweet service. ** I'M A FAN, Y'ALL!! I guarantee you will be too!!**

I had a really nice chat with one of the owners there and they all seem like really lovely people--kind hearted with little kids around so hopefully they stay around for some time! They were still redoing the front of house so not sure when they will open fully but looking forward to trying more Azerbaijan food. Since I've never had Azerbaijan food before, I asked for a recommendation and he said all of the food is good but did say that the chicken shawarma was big and I was feeling a bit hungry so went with that. It came with fries and some peppers, which reminded me of banana peppers. Not spicy with a briney taste to it, great accompaniment. He also tossed in this yogurt drink (I didn't get the name) that was tasty. Overall, good food and will be back to try their lamb kebabs and the burger as well and interested to see what their pizzas will be like as well. Love seeing small family businesses like this and hope they do well!

Btw, it's in a small parking lot next to a restaurant, and you should have parking spots at the back. There always seems to be a decent crowd occupying the tables near the food truck.
