First time trying TIP TOP SANDWICHES. Me and my hubby were picking up some food from Medan Kitchen which was right next door so I decided to stop by this place to pick up some food for my mom... FRIED EGG ROLLS: 10/10 STAR OF THE SHOW! I was underestimating this place because I thought their speciality would be sandwiches but, their egg rolls were just as good as the famous ones in OC!!!... BANH MI SANDWICH: 8/10 My mom wanted me to find a Banh Mi sandwich with pate and the combination of Vietnamese meat. I heard that this place was OG so I figured they might have it. My mom said she liked the Banh Mi... TOFU SPRING ROLLS: 7/10 There were actually 2 kinds of tofu spring rolls. I got the kind with the fried tofu. The noodles were really hard and chewy and the outer shell was also hard and chewy. I had to sprinkle it with water and microwave it to make it softer but, it didn't really help and I didn't really enjoy it... AMBIANCE: 8/10 A very casual and spacious cafe. The interior was mostly green and I saw lottery machines and refrigerated drinks for sale. There were some OG locals sitting outside in the patio. We drove up and they looked at us like we were celebrities or out of Towner's!?!? They seemed chill though but, wouldn't want to start a fight with them because it could turn into GANGSTER'S PARADISE!!!! It's a great place to grab your food, mind your business and go!! SERVICE: A+ Excellent and friendly service!!! TIP TOP SANDWICHES IS IN TIP TOP SHAPE!!!!!!

I love coming here. It's one of my favorite banh mi places. My favorite thing to get here is the banh mi with the egg in it. It's like an amazing breakfast item. I think they put like 5 or 6 eggs in here, which is insane. When you combine it with the signature banh mi bread and the veggies, it's just absolutely a delight. I love this meal so much. On top of that, their bbq pork is great as well. Not to mention, if you come at the right time, you can get a fresh baguette that is straight out of the oven. That is an experience in and of itself. You can gently push down on the bread and it just has that sound that is just so satisfying. Combine it with the warmth of the bread fresh out of the oven and it's unmatched. I always wondered why a Vietnamese baguette tastes better than a French one. The difference is they use rice flour instead of wheat flour. Who knew? Sometimes I also come here for their roast beef croissant too. That thing is pretty amazing. What I love most here is that you can get multiple meals for the price of one meal in LA, where I live. The service is really quick. The ambiance is chill because a lot of retired fellows come here. And it's just a great place to come when you're in the area.

Straight from Tip Top sandwich shop. They used to be better than Banh Mi Che Cali. Not anymore.

So disappointed with their sandwiches today. I went out of my way to come for their sandwiches, and what I got today was super dry with very little meat , no butter spread and no pate. They also added some sweet sauce to my banh mi dac biet which' made it sweet instead of savory. They used to be my favorite and this made me very sad. Bye!

When Hainan Chicken meets Pho Rice Noodles. Just want to Thank God on the morning of December 24th. 2025 that I'm not on my rig yet, but I get to be off the truck for now and I get to enjoy some peace in this solace rain, and have in front of me, real range free look alike boned in chicken rice noodle soup + coffee. Can't think of a better way to start the morning other than maybe...I should be hitting the gym. But anyways! What a banger of a Pho Ga! If only while trucking cross country, instead of Popeyes, Wendy's, Mickey D's, Arby's, all the truck stops had a Pho Stall....*note to self Business Plan: *Trucka Pho-Ka-- the only Pho you'll need at a truck stop / fueling truck drivers and road trippers one pho at a time** Alright, done day-dreaming; Tip Tops been around forever, and therefore their 3 stars is not because the food sucks....by San Gabriel Standards, the sandwiches, offerings beat Alot of establishments, real honesty. Just look around, all you'll see is retired old Vietnamese Uncles and Aunties, that's how you rate food in the San Gabriel Valley: Food to Price to Senior Citizens Ratio = Down to Earth No Scams No BS food. And I had no problems with the service here, all the aunties were beyond nice, they didn't hate on me because I don't speak Viet:). As for ambiance...welcome to random food stall in South East Asia--- *the vibes* you have the green, blueish, white hues from the wall, with those old school T5 florescent tube lighting fixtures on the ceiling, flickering, with Wong Kar Wai - In the Mood for Love Vibes and Music Playing in the background. Reminiscing the good days, 90s, the era of the 4 Asian Tigers...man I need to book a flight to Han Noi and Hainan Island...buddies been telling me marijuana is legal in Thailand.

Lunch with family this afternoon, and my wife recommended the Tip Top Sandwiches store because it houses the Tip Top Restaurant. When we arrived, the space was fairly empty. The menu appears to be somewhat limited, with few options available. When we ordered the food and Vietnamese Coffee, practically every dish was out of stock. I don't understand why my wife wants to have lunch at this place... The only dishes available are Duck Curry and Vietnamese Beef Stew. When the food arrived, I was surprised at how large the portions were, and the food was wonderful! We got baguette bread to dip into the curry and beef stew. So nice, I love the taste!! Need to arrive early to try different food. Reasonable prices here, and the business opens at 5:00 a.m. The only catch is that you must arrive early to enjoy the food, or everything will be out of stock. I would definitely suggest this restaurant.

Pro Tip: Parking is difficult, and there's a 4% surcharge for credit card. Visiting Tip Top's on a Sunday was like asking to be driven crazy by parking. Where does one park? The street? 10 blocks away? Having heard of but never been to Tip Top's, I wasn't sure what to expect. More than a decade of chatter, I decided to finally walk in and try a the #1 Combination banh mi. Needless to say, it was suspiciously cheap, but who's to say that quality can't be had with value? The Combination banh mi was okay. I would rank this under Lee's; I did not enjoy the sandwich too much but got it down since I hate wasting food. Between the 4% credit card fee and the subpar sandwich, I wasn't sure if there was much to complain about. The sandwich came out to be about $7? But I don't see myself returning again - at least not for a sandwich.

My iced coffee, egg rolls & spring rolls.
    Whorechata M.

I got 3 egg roll, one order of spring rolls & an iced coffee, all for $14 & some change. If you like Vietnamese karaoke music playing loud while most if not all of the tables outside, then this is your place. Tons of losing scratched lottery tickets piled up above the trash can. The food is good, service was okay, but the price of the food is overpriced. If you go anywhere within 4-5 mile vicinity of this place, it will probably be cheaper. Parking sucks big time in this plaza. I can only imagine the parking here on the weekends.

A solid Banh mi place. They have a lot of good choices. The grilled pork and beef were okay. The specialty was pretty tasty too. I suggest the veggies on the side so it doesn't make the bread so soggy if you're not going to eat it right away.

The ube French toast was topped with some blueberries, had a crispity crunchity exterior with a fluffy soft custardy interior and ube filling. Didn't taste much like ube but was still very yummy. The bacon jam burger had a soft pillowy buttered bun, sweet Caramelized bacon jam, a sunny side up egg, gooey cheese, meaty juicy patty that did need some seasoning not gonna lie, and bitter arugula. I also got it with a side of their yummy sweet potato fries. The kimchi butter fried chicken eggs benny came with a side of a fresh leafy vinaigrette dressed salad and some not bad country potatoes. The benny itself had a super soft fluffy English muffin that soaked up that rich kimchi butter, crunchy fermented kimchi, tender crisp fried chicken cutlet and perfectly poached egg. Knowing what I know now as I write this review, we would return & bring friends here. It's about 78 to 80°F on a Friday a few minutes before 1 pm, surprisingly, it was low key--only a couple tables taken indoors by patrons and a set of guys on the patio. At the door, it said to seat ourselves & I immediately shot to the patio. The set up: once seated, the server comes with menus, you order & it's a sit down meal. Giselle was our friendly & attentive server, young & attentive. Hubby ordered the breakfast burrito ($11.50) & I opted for build your own omelette $11.50 for a 3 egg omelette & choice of two items- mushroom and bell peppers accompanied with breakfast potatoes, and chilaquiles ($13.99) to share. The patio seating is fresh, airy, there are tables, outdoor furnitures (sofas) and bright orange umbrellas for shade. My photos captured these elements. The food arrived shortly, although not all at once. I didn't mind it all because the ambiance was so soothing with the sound of birds chirping away and the background of other patrons talking. The only complaint from Hubby was too many pototo chunks in his burrito. My omelette was hot, fresh ingredients, delectable & the potatoes were mixed with 3 colors of bellpeppers. Oh and the chilaquiles? Pretty darn good! The tortilla chips were crispy, perfect amount of green salsa, freshly diced onions & a sprinkling of cotija cheese. Was I famished or was it that good that I devoured everything? What's left was Hubby's potato chunk discards. Giselle returned a few times to ensure our experience is to our satisfaction & another staff also stopped by to check on us. Such a perfect meal & day-- I'm so happy with this visit. Had this bookmarked & noticed that a few Yelp Friends have left their reviews on here. It looks like that hometown feel type of shop but the experience today was NOT that. Service was polite but not quite that welcoming that you would feel at a mom n pops shop. It's too bad coz if it were, we would frequent this diner/cafe. Most places that we're regulars at, we feel valued as patrons and are welcomed like family. I find less and less places have this kind of atmosphere. We ordered breakfast staples; Hubby ordered a machaca combo with flour tortillas & black beans, I opted for the (2 large!) banana walnut pancakes combo with chicken apple sausage, potatoes & over medium eggs. Our food arrived timely, hot and good presentation. Hubby said the machaca was decent because having had his fair share of machaca, these passed. My pancakes were huge! Flavor was good, as the banana slices & walnuts were cooked in, not just placed on top like most places. Macadamias would've been a better pairing though. The chicken apple sausage was flavorful & eggs were cooked as requested. Noise level was somewhat loud with all the clanging as tables were cleaned/bussed around us. Overall a decent experience for our first time visit, as mentioned, if the service was more thoughtful & welcoming, it would've made the difference from a 3 star to perhaps a 4 or a 5 star. Food for thought.
