Tried the sandwiches years ago and this is why I remembered to come back here. 3.5 stars. Like their juices. However, experience isn't the greatest. First of all, they close at like 8pm, not 9pm. Yelp is wrong. Not their fault. I've came back the next morning, the parking lot is filling up fast and the storefront is crowded with older Asian Men smoking, talking, playing scratchers, etc. The thing that bothers me is the second hand smoke I'm forced to inhale. Ordering experience was so-so/alright. The cashier didn't really speak English. I've ordered a Super Juice and a Protector Juice. She didn't bother telling me they don't have the fruits to make the Protector juice. When I pick up my juices, the barista (another lady) had to tell me that. So, both of my juices were Super Juice. I love coming here. It's one of my favorite banh mi places. My favorite thing to get here is the banh mi with the egg in it. It's like an amazing breakfast item. I think they put like 5 or 6 eggs in here, which is insane. When you combine it with the signature banh mi bread and the veggies, it's just absolutely a delight. I love this meal so much. On top of that, their bbq pork is great as well. Not to mention, if you come at the right time, you can get a fresh baguette that is straight out of the oven. That is an experience in and of itself. You can gently push down on the bread and it just has that sound that is just so satisfying. Combine it with the warmth of the bread fresh out of the oven and it's unmatched. I always wondered why a Vietnamese baguette tastes better than a French one. The difference is they use rice flour instead of wheat flour. Who knew? Sometimes I also come here for their roast beef croissant too. That thing is pretty amazing. What I love most here is that you can get multiple meals for the price of one meal in LA, where I live. So disappointed with their sandwiches today. I went out of my way to come for their sandwiches, and what I got today was super dry with very little meat , no butter spread and no pate. Lunch with family this afternoon, and my wife recommended the Tip Top Sandwiches store because it houses the Tip Top Restaurant. When we arrived, the space was fairly empty. The menu appears to be somewhat limited, with few options available. When we ordered the food and Vietnamese Coffee, practically every dish was out of stock. I don't understand why my wife wants to have lunch at this place... The only dishes available are Duck Curry and Vietnamese Beef Stew. When the food arrived, I was surprised at how large the portions were, and the food was wonderful! We got baguette bread to dip into the curry and beef stew. So nice, I love the taste!! Need to arrive early to try different food. Reasonable prices here, and the business opens at 5:00 a.m. The only catch is that you must arrive early to enjoy the food, or everything will be out of stock. Came here for a quick lunch because it was supposed to be good according to YouTube video. Took almost 20 minutes to make my sandwich when others got bags of food within 5 minutes. I ordered ham turkey and cheese and ended up with no ham only turkey. The menu said the sandwich was $6.75 the girl rang it up as $8.75 then the receipt I got said I paid $11.58 cash when in fact I used a credit card and they added on 4% so my total for my tea and sandwich came to $12.04. Menu prices and receipt don't match what is charged they have a board up with prices and they have a printed price list and they have YouTube video that was less than a week old with prices that say $6.75 and sandwiches actually $8.75. I added an extra star, it was going to be only one, because the sandwich was good. But the bread is no softer than any other place. Too bad I won"t return. Do not come here!! It was very difficult to find parking on the weekend here. There were so many men hanging outside making lots 9f noise. I came here after a body massage around the corner. I ordered beef filet pho and a cafe sua da small size (Vietnamese iced coffee). The pho was a HUGE disappointment. I was charged for a large bowl, but it looks like a regular bowl elsewhere. The supposed filet was so tough I had a hard time chewing it. I ordered pho filet specifically for the soft tender meat that is usually served for this type of pho. It looks more like some kind of really cheap pieces of meat that was sort of chopped up to mask the tough meat that is being served. I asked the man (Anh Hieu) if I can change the order because the meat is so tough and not soft like filet meat. The beef ball was also bad. It tasted like really old beef ball that has a rancid taste and smell. I took one bite and yad to spit it out. He asked me to wait while he give me a little bowl of 2 pieces of the regular pho meat and pieces of tendons. BTW, you get 2 small pieces of beef ball that would be equivalent of half of a regular Vietnamese beef ball ( bo vien). The whole bill came out to almost $19. The pho was $13.09 and iced coffee was $5.20. There are no prices on the menu anywhere. I hope this will help make you NOT a victim of thos establishment! read more

Might have to say this is the very first authentic bahn mi place I've ever had, and am surprised by the negative reviews. Came here on a Saturday around lunch time, there were a lot of customers, just hanging around inside and outside of Tip Top with their drinks and food. There was also a line to order. I had the Special Combination bahn mi, and it was the best and real. The sandwich is stuffed with meat and pickled veggie. Sauce was light, but the meat was naturally flavored so great balance combo and makes the sandwich not too heavy. I love the baguette. It's really crunchy yet very fluffy inside unlike normal french baguettes! Not only their baguettes were baked fresh, their sandwich toppings are fresh too. Overall, I would definitely come back again for the bahn mi when I'm in the area. The portion is super worth it for the price too (~$6) The negative reviews did shock me a little since I had such a good experience. The bahn mi was yummy, service was nice, the cleaniness of the place could be better but it wasn't so terrible that it cannot be tolerated at all. Maybe they have their good and bad days, but if you are looking for quality of food mainly, it deserves to be a go to bahn mi place! Also, maybe even take a baguette fresh to go after. This bread was soft with a chew, It was freshly baked. It would be perfect for a Hoagie type of sandwich for a Jersey Mikes. I ordered the Combination which is my fav and the BBQ Pork. I was not impressed with the Combination, the meats were try and were skimpy on the veggies. disappointed that it was only carrot and no daikon, of course there was cucumber, cilantro & jalapeño. They were skimpy on the Pate too, ya not ordering that again. I also ordered the BBQ pork and Baby let me tell you, the pork was marinated to perfection. I could taste all the aromatics like Lemon Grass. Prolly one of the best BBQ pork i've had but again, not a fan of the bread. I am very sad to say that I wasn't able to order any sandwiches while I was here because the parental were busy getting food elsewhere and I just happen to be driving by and realized I was "this" | | close to Tip Top's Sandwiches which has been in my bookmarks for years and years. So I decided to at least get a baguette and oh wow - how fluffy is this baguette. Definitely no French. This one is way fluffier than that. If nothing else, I will definitely be coming back for that if I'm in the area. There is a minimum purchase required to use a debit or credit card so I had to get a couple other somethings. I saw "empanadas" which really is just meat pie, aren't they? So I ordered a chicken, a pork and a vegetarian meat pies. Gross and COVID hazardous! I was coughed on by their maskless employee , more than once , while she took my order. She then proceeded to prep condiments at the counter without washing her hands. Several maskless customers indoors clearly not eating or drinking (no food or drinks or containers in sight), just watching the ball game on the TV. I felt more and more grossed out as I thought about it, so threw the food in the trash afterwards. Whenever I do a trip to LA, I always like to stock up on food I can't get back home. My friend mentioned getting bahn mi's but the places she reccomended were all closed. I managed to stop by here 30 minutes before closing and bought the last two sandwiches. The guy who rang me up was also super nice, answering my questions patiently. I made my order, got my food in 10-15 minutes and was on my way. Now, I had planned to eat these the day after and unlike Lee's sandwiches, they put everything in the sandwhich. So I was a bit worried as I drove two hours back home. I ate half of my sandwhich that night and it was so good. Gave some to my mom and she enjoyed it also!
