Straight from Tip Top sandwich shop. They used to be better than Banh Mi Che Cali. Not anymore.

So disappointed with their sandwiches today. I went out of my way to come for their sandwiches, and what I got today was super dry with very little meat , no butter spread and no pate. They also added some sweet sauce to my banh mi dac biet which' made it sweet instead of savory. They used to be my favorite and this made me very sad. Bye!

When Hainan Chicken meets Pho Rice Noodles. Just want to Thank God on the morning of December 24th. 2025 that I'm not on my rig yet, but I get to be off the truck for now and I get to enjoy some peace in this solace rain, and have in front of me, real range free look alike boned in chicken rice noodle soup + coffee. Can't think of a better way to start the morning other than maybe...I should be hitting the gym. But anyways! What a banger of a Pho Ga! If only while trucking cross country, instead of Popeyes, Wendy's, Mickey D's, Arby's, all the truck stops had a Pho Stall....*note to self Business Plan: *Trucka Pho-Ka-- the only Pho you'll need at a truck stop / fueling truck drivers and road trippers one pho at a time** Alright, done day-dreaming; Tip Tops been around forever, and therefore their 3 stars is not because the food sucks....by San Gabriel Standards, the sandwiches, offerings beat Alot of establishments, real honesty. Just look around, all you'll see is retired old Vietnamese Uncles and Aunties, that's how you rate food in the San Gabriel Valley: Food to Price to Senior Citizens Ratio = Down to Earth No Scams No BS food. And I had no problems with the service here, all the aunties were beyond nice, they didn't hate on me because I don't speak Viet:). As for ambiance...welcome to random food stall in South East Asia--- *the vibes* you have the green, blueish, white hues from the wall, with those old school T5 florescent tube lighting fixtures on the ceiling, flickering, with Wong Kar Wai - In the Mood for Love Vibes and Music Playing in the background. Reminiscing the good days, 90s, the era of the 4 Asian Tigers...man I need to book a flight to Han Noi and Hainan Island...buddies been telling me marijuana is legal in Thailand.

Lunch with family this afternoon, and my wife recommended the Tip Top Sandwiches store because it houses the Tip Top Restaurant. When we arrived, the space was fairly empty. The menu appears to be somewhat limited, with few options available. When we ordered the food and Vietnamese Coffee, practically every dish was out of stock. I don't understand why my wife wants to have lunch at this place... The only dishes available are Duck Curry and Vietnamese Beef Stew. When the food arrived, I was surprised at how large the portions were, and the food was wonderful! We got baguette bread to dip into the curry and beef stew. So nice, I love the taste!! Need to arrive early to try different food. Reasonable prices here, and the business opens at 5:00 a.m. The only catch is that you must arrive early to enjoy the food, or everything will be out of stock. I would definitely suggest this restaurant.

Pro Tip: Parking is difficult, and there's a 4% surcharge for credit card. Visiting Tip Top's on a Sunday was like asking to be driven crazy by parking. Where does one park? The street? 10 blocks away? Having heard of but never been to Tip Top's, I wasn't sure what to expect. More than a decade of chatter, I decided to finally walk in and try a the #1 Combination banh mi. Needless to say, it was suspiciously cheap, but who's to say that quality can't be had with value? The Combination banh mi was okay. I would rank this under Lee's; I did not enjoy the sandwich too much but got it down since I hate wasting food. Between the 4% credit card fee and the subpar sandwich, I wasn't sure if there was much to complain about. The sandwich came out to be about $7? But I don't see myself returning again - at least not for a sandwich.

My iced coffee, egg rolls & spring rolls.
    Whorechata M.

I got 3 egg roll, one order of spring rolls & an iced coffee, all for $14 & some change. If you like Vietnamese karaoke music playing loud while most if not all of the tables outside, then this is your place. Tons of losing scratched lottery tickets piled up above the trash can. The food is good, service was okay, but the price of the food is overpriced. If you go anywhere within 4-5 mile vicinity of this place, it will probably be cheaper. Parking sucks big time in this plaza. I can only imagine the parking here on the weekends.

The staff were really nice and let us take our time, the food was amazing and the proportions were BIG for only 6.5 for most sandwiches. The onside was clean and smelled nice.

Do not come here!! It was very difficult to find parking on the weekend here. There were so many men hanging outside making lots 9f noise. I came here after a body massage around the corner. I ordered beef filet pho and a cafe sua da small size (Vietnamese iced coffee). The pho was a HUGE disappointment. I was charged for a large bowl, but it looks like a regular bowl elsewhere. The supposed filet was so tough I had a hard time chewing it. I ordered pho filet specifically for the soft tender meat that is usually served for this type of pho. It looks more like some kind of really cheap pieces of meat that was sort of chopped up to mask the tough meat that is being served. I asked the man (Anh Hieu) if I can change the order because the meat is so tough and not soft like filet meat. The beef ball was also bad. It tasted like really old beef ball that has a rancid taste and smell. I took one bite and yad to spit it out. He asked me to wait while he give me a little bowl of 2 pieces of the regular pho meat and pieces of tendons. BTW, you get 2 small pieces of beef ball that would be equivalent of half of a regular Vietnamese beef ball ( bo vien). The whole bill came out to almost $19. The pho was $13.09 and iced coffee was $5.20. There are no prices on the menu anywhere. I hope this will help make you NOT a victim of thos establishment!

A solid Banh mi place. They have a lot of good choices. The grilled pork and beef were okay. The specialty was pretty tasty too. I suggest the veggies on the side so it doesn't make the bread so soggy if you're not going to eat it right away.

Since this is still one of my mom's favorite casual restaurants (says a lot since she's a tough customer), I decided to make two consecutive visits on a Friday morning right when they open at 10 a.m. They already had a good amount of people dining in, and they turnover the tables quickly. I got their Bun Rieu (no pork blood & half vermicelli) and a single egg roll my first time back and it was the biggest bowl I've ever been served. It was delicious and they do not skimp on the protein. I love how they gave me a boatload of proper Vietnamese veggies/herbs and fermented shrimp paste alongside it. Most Vietnamese restaurants nowadays serve bastardized versions of a veggie/herb plate with their soup noodles to appease a devolved palette. Second time I was here, I got their dry combination egg & tapioca soy sauce noodles with the soup on the side and an order of a single egg roll. Man, do I miss this dish especially when it is served authentically. The bowl came with shrimps, thinly sliced pork, ground pork, a fried shrimp crisp, & quail eggs. But the flavor bomb comes from bits of fried shrimp, bacon fat, & shallots. Pro tip: balance the sweetness of the soy sauce noodles with the pickled jalapeños within their condiment array. The bowl of soup that this comes with is a whole other meal with a giant pork bone (how it is traditionally served) and a bunch of fish cake in it. This was my ratatouille moment when I transported back to my childhood. I can't wait to come back and work through their menu.

I ordered their pork chop rice with their meat casserole and shrimp paste with tofu skin - and my friend ordered their pho. And... it was so good. Worth the Parking Struggle!…read more The only downside to trying this new spot? The parking! We thought Summer Rolls in Temple City had a rough parking situation... this one somehow topped it! Around 7 PM, the plaza was absolutely packed with so many cute restaurants, so we ended up parking on the street. Thankfully, dinner made the extra walk completely worth it. We're huge Summer Rolls fans, so I've been wanting to try this place since it opened, and tonight was finally the night! #36 Charbroiled Pork Shoulder with Shrimp Cake & Shredded Pork $16.50 Rating: 9/10 Let me tell you... the char on this pork was phenomenal! It had that beautiful smoky flavor that only comes from perfectly grilled meat. Huge kudos to the chef because this was honestly one of the best charbroiled pork dishes I've had. Not too much fat in it, so it was perfect. But can we also take a moment to appreciate the broken rice? I'm usually not the biggest rice dish person because most places simply serve regular steamed rice... but this broken rice? It could honestly un-break a broken heart. It was light, fluffy, and absolutely delicious. It paired so perfectly with that smoky pork that I found myself finishing every last grain without even realizing it. And one more thing... BEWARE of the spicy sauté sauce! I repeat... do NOT scoop a giant spoonful onto your rice or your Bún Bò Huế like I confidently did with my 2 spoonfuls of rice since we were sharing! That thing has some serious kick! But once my taste buds recovered... wow, it hit HARD in the best way possible. It added so much depth and flavor that I kept going back for more. I've honestly never had a Vietnamese spot with a spicy sauté sauce quite like this, and it definitely hit the spot! Although it isn't your traditional cơm tấm loaded with all the usual sides, this restaurant puts a more modern spin on the dish. There may be fewer components on the plate, but every bite was packed with flavor. I'd honestly rank their charbroiled pork even above Summer Rolls, and that's saying a lot! #5 Nem Spring Rolls $14.00 Rating: 9.5/10 If you're coming here and skipping these... you're doing yourself a disservice! The spring rolls and their crack sauce are still every bit as amazing as I remember. I've been eating at the original Nem Nuong Ninh Hoa across from Rosemead High School since 2009, and it honestly makes me so happy that this family-owned business has kept the same incredible recipe all these years. Over 20 years later, they've truly mastered it, carrying the recipe into Summer Rolls & now Nem. Love this family dynamic secret. I even met the owner, Mai, during our visit. We both looked at each other and laughed because we thought the other looked familiar. Maybe it's because I've been coming to the original location since my high school days! She was incredibly sweet and welcoming, which made the experience even better. As much as Summer Rolls has been our go-to these past few years... I think they're going to have to share the spotlight now. We'll definitely be coming back because my mission is officially to work my way through this entire menu! The service was warm and friendly, the restaurant is modern, beautiful, and spotless, and overall this was such a wonderful experience. Happy eats!

That's right, 5 minutes. Although I did go around 9:50AM so there wasn't a line nor another party in the dining area. Food: I woke up craving Vietnamese and this place didn't disappoint. The Bon Rieu had the depth of flavor that I crave. Honestly, I judge most Vietnamese pho restaurants by their Bon Rieu because some places simply use seafood powder in their stock to fake it. What results is a very thinly flavored broth that has very little umami. Bon Rieu should have THE MOST umami of any soup dish because of its tomato and crab base. That's how you can tell if a place is cutting corners. The Nem Cuom is huge and the dipping sauce is generous. The House Special Tea is reminiscent of a passion fruit green tea from a boba place. Sweetened just enough to not be saccharine. Ambiance: Quite small. I believe one of their main issues may be parking during peak hours as it shares a tiny parking lot with many other businesses. HOWEVER, neighborhood parking is plentiful and just around the corner past the Sheridan Hotel and Starbucks. Round the corner and you'll find plenty of parking throughout the day.

I came by on a Friday at 7pm for a dinner (weekend before Mother's Day) and was able to get seated in 15 minutes. They have a Yelp waitlist but you must go in person to join the waitlist. There's a spacious parking lot but there's rarely any spots available and will require you to wait for a free one. The interior is honestly very pretty. It's decorated with overhead chandeliers with bright lights and marble tables. When your table is ready, they also give you a tray full of chopsticks, napkins, and forks. Each table also has hoisin, sriracha, chili sauce, and another sauce I'm not too sure about. After we ordered, I got my pho da biet maybe 5 minutes after. The cha gios also came out a few minutes after too. Unfortunately, my boyfriend's com tam was forgotten about until after I devoured my pho. We even asked them about it in the middle and it was checked on but we weren't updated and thought they had went ahead and cancelled it but it still came out. No biggy, we packed it to-go since we basically split the pho da biet. Food: Pho da biet (9.5/10): The pho was soooo delicious. It was meaty with a little bit of sweetness to it. This is one of the few places where I don't feel the need to sauce down my pho to enjoy it. There's a good amount of meat in here. If you're a tendon enjoyer, there's about 3 big chunks in here. I love the way they separate everything. If you order this, it comes with the stone bowl at no additional costs. They separate the noodles and ribeye on the side and let you "decorate" it yourself. There was also a good amount of noodles in here. Com tam (7.9/10): I thought that this one was just okay. We got the grilled pork and grilled pork chop and I thought that the meats were cooked perfectly. There was a nice char to the meats and it was seasoned deliciously. It came with a lot of rice and a side of soup to enjoy! I did enjoy this fish sauce more than the one that came with the egg rolls. Overall, I wish this dish came out the same time as the pho so we could've enjoyed it together. Cha gio/Imperial Rolls (7/10): I love egg rolls but this one didn't really stand out to me. It comes with a good amount of vegetables that you can use to wrap your egg rolls in. I wish the fish sauce that came with this was more salty. Maybe it was that day, but I couldn't really tell what was inside the filling. It was all mushed in together instead of different layers. The skin was very thin and crispy which I really liked!

The noodles go well with the fish sauce and there are a lot of veggies inside. The nem nuong coun is a spring roll that's wrapped in rice paper. It has the meat and lettuce wrapped inside and comes with a dipping sauce. I believe the sauce is made with ground shrimp. For $8 for 3 rolls it is a steal compared to other restaurants. If you are craving Brodards in OC this place can satisfy your craving. Their che ba mau which is a 3 bean dessert has a lot of beans inside topped with coconut milk and shaved ice. It is the person drink to finish your meal and it is not too sweet.

Com Tam is decent, rice texture is on point. Pork chop is marinated well but not enough lemongrass flavor, tender and not dry at all. Baked egg was good but not amazing, seemed like it missing shredded wood ear mushroom. Che Ba Mau by far hands down the worst I've had. Red bean wasn't soft, outer shell/skin was still pretty tough. Not much mung bean either after stirring it literally for about 4 seconds the mung bean basically disintegrated into the liquid. The liquid.. watered down skim milk, not a trace of coconut flavor anywhere. I didn't know you can mess up Che Ba Mau until I had it from here.

I ordered egg rolls and the Pho Dac Biet. The egg rolls came out first. Fresh from the fryer with lettuce, herbs and the nuoc mam/fish sauce. I ended up fishing that on my own (first meal of the day haha). I was wondering where my pho was. I flagged down the server and he seemingly forgot. He rushed to the kitchen to get that going and it came out within a few minutes. Broth check first. It was light and had flavor. Didn't need to add hot sauce or hoisin sauce. Dressed up the pho with the herbs and went at it. Finished that as well. Pretty extensive menu. Fresh food. Overall, a nice place to grab some Vietnamese food.

I've only dined in a few times because it's always crowded and usually has a long wait, so I typically order my food to go. I enjoy both the combination pho and the chicken pho. The broth is rich and flavorful, and their egg rolls are also very good. On my last visit, I ordered a rice plate with pork chop, egg rolls, and shrimp paste. The dish was tasty. The pork chop was well seasoned and tender. They included two egg rolls and two pieces of shrimp paste, which I thought was generous. I just wish the pork chop portion had been a little larger. The rice was also delicious and had a buttery flavor. The meal was enough for two people to share. Prices are a bit higher compared to other pho restaurants, but the food quality is consistently good. Customer service was great. I placed my order online, and it was ready when I arrived.
