I have decided to "Live Yelp" my experience with V-Maids. Let's start at a medium of 3 stars for this one. (DISCLAIMER: I live-reviewed but then it sat in my drafts for awhile, so this actually took place at the beginning of September) Firstly, they arrived on time - a few minutes early, actually, and got right to work. Plus one star. Their first request was for a vacuum which my roommates and I found off since nothing in our apartment is carpeted. If I'm paying someone to deep clean, running a vacuum over a hard surface isn't what I had in mine. Even though my roommate instructed them to start in the bathrooms, the one girl started in my room. She dusted off the ceiling fan as I requested from the company, but then started cleaning off my dresser - I had specifically told Vaclav, the owner, we did not want anything in the bedrooms cleaned except the ceiling fans. I pointed this out to her and she stopped, conversed with the other girl, and then spent about another 10 minutes on my dresser alone. Completely ignored what I said. Minus one star. Left my bedroom without cleaning up the dust that had fallen from the ceiling fan. That is a HUGE miss; THAT'S when you choose to follow the "Don't clean the bedroom rule?" Minus one star. Forty minutes in and now she's scrubbing the kitchen table? No floors have been done. Again people, "deep clean" is meant to be corners, hard to reach surfaces - not furniture I wipe down every day anyway. Minus one star. Are we at zero yet? I think we're at zero. They almost earned a star when I walked into the kitchen and the other girl asked if I wanted to fridge to be done. I told her yes and I'd rather her do that than the dishes she was doing - again people, DEEP CLEAN DOES NOT MEAN DOING HOUSEHOLD CHORES I CAN DO MYSELF! I showed her how the inside of the freezer was nasty and if she could get started on that instead. She said that was fine, and then when I walked away I heard her back to doing the dishes for another ten minutes. Star cancelled out. At least the one bathroom they've done so far is sparkling clean. Plus one star. At this point I have to leave for a work thing; my roommate calls and apparently the cleaning girls have told her they need an extra half hour to finish up. I wouldn't mind the extra time & charge if they hadn't already WASTED AN HOUR CLEANING THINGS WE SPECIFICALLY AND REPEATEDLY TOLD THEM NOT TO. I called Vaclav and he assured me he would talk to the girls and make sure we only paid for the 2.5 hours estimated. Plus 3 stars for the fact he was so fantastic about it, and top of that sent me a QuickPay for a $10 first-time cleaning refund. Overall the girls ended up doing a lot of the cleaning I didn't want to myself; I was just expecting a better quality. Also, once he called them to let them know they effed up, the one girl was extremely rude to my roommate and would not speak to her or even acknowledge her. In my opinion, if you misunderstood the directions that is fine; but at the end of the day you could at least be apologetic and not rude. She made the company look so bad. Based on other sub-par reviews it won't come as a shock that our cleaning girls were the blonde pair; it seems to be as theme on their reviews. Vaclav, a word of advice - the blonde girls could obviously take a lesson from the brunettes everyone raves about. Maybe split them up so they could learn a thing or two. read more

I was looking for a company to clean a single family home prior to moving into it and I didn't have much time. Most of the companies that I contacted for a price quote wanted to meet with me to see the place before giving a quote. I don't have time for that. If I did, I might have saved the money and cleaned the house myself! V Maids, however, was quick to respond to my email with exactly the information that I needed: how much per hour, how many cleaners they would send, and how much time they expected the job to take. HIRED! The cleaning ladies were running late so they called to push the time back by an hour, and then were about 30 minutes late arriving. No big deal, but worth taking off one star. Overall they were efficient, quick, and did a good job. I'd hire them again without a second thought! read more

Ok, last time I called V maids they sent two new ladies. First, I don't like that they switched the ones I was comfortable with without telling me first. Maybe I was wrong to assume that since they kept sending me the same ones since the first time I called, that they were my perm when they were available. Secondly, this new set of ladies did not do a good job at all. Dust and dog hair bunnies all over the place after they left. The floors were only Swiffer-ed at best and didn't look like they had been mopped. And they put this grease stuff on my stainless steel appliances, which I assume is to clean and shine, but they must have used way too much cause it just ended up being gross and I had to wipe everything down. They get two stars this time cause up til now, they had a pretty good track record, otherwise, I'd give them one. FYI - the "good" ladies are brunettes and one is slightly older than the other (remind me of a mom/daughter team). The "bad" ones were two blondes. read more

So we recently switched cleaning ladies due to laziness of our other lady. We got V Maids recommended by a friend. Its super easy online scheduling, which you know I love. Also, you can pay via chase quickpay...BONUS! They also give you a small discount for first time and also recurring cleanings. We have used them 2 times...and I am not sure if we are going to continue. 1st time Cleaning was good, not great. The stove top was still dirty. Other than that, it was a pretty good job. What I really didnt like was that they broke my lighted up make up mirror and left it on the floor in the bathroom. I understand things happen, however they didnt leave a note or anything. When I contacted them, they were very responsive and paid for a replacement. 2.5 hrs initial cleaning for 2bed/2bath. pretty average. 2nd time Asked them to not clean spare bedroom. Arrived in my home at 1026AM. I went grocery shopping and came home at 1220PM. They were still finishing up. At 1225PM, they were walking out the door. They left the card and stated they were here for 2.5hours. So again, I called the business and were responsive. They said they paid the meter at 10AM. But I am paying for cleaning, not how long it takes for you to get inside my home. Moreover, how did it take just as long, minus a bedroom?? Plus, I asked them to thoroughly clean the stove top and it still had stuff on it. They are very responsive to complaints, however I really shouldnt have had to call and complain! I want to be able to trust my cleaners. I feel that they are fairly slow to clean because its based on an hourly rate and not a set fee. I told them we are giving them one more chance and if its not done properly and fast, we will be on the lookout for another cleaner. Update to come post our next cleaning. read more

I have been using V Maids for a few months based on the recommendation of a friend. I find their rates to be reasonable and the women do a great job. A few weeks ago I forgot they were coming and rather than calling me and not cleaning because I had forgotten to leave payment, they cleaned the house and let me pay the next time they came. I found Veronika, the owner, to be very gracious in not demanding immediate payment, which she deserved, but rather just letting me pay the next time the women were at my house. The reason I am writing this review is due to a recent experience where one of the women cleaning broke the handle on my microwave. I was somewhat disappointed that she did not tell Veronika about the damage, but once I informed Veronika about what happened she could not have been more willing to repair my microwave, regardless of cost. Once again Veronika was so accomodating in having the handle replaced and repaired and never once questioned the cost. I really appreciated her professionalism. I would absolutely recommend V Maids to anyone looking for a spring cleaning or regular cleaning. The women are friendly and the owner could not be nicer. My four stars, I wish I could have left four and a half, is due to the fact that the handle was broken and not reported. read more

The v-maids just left the house and....Ahhhhh! I love the smell of a freshly cleaned one-bedroom condo a Saturday morning! These ladies always do a good job cleaning the house... sometimes even great. The reason for the 4 stars (instead of 5) is that the cleaning quality can be somewhat inconsistent between good and immaculate. I mean, hellooo, it's a helluva lot better than I could ever do, so if you don't mind a different team each time, with slightly varying results, then you should hire v-maids. They are quick and VERY reasonable. An hour and half cleaning of our one bedroom condo is about 54 American dollars. Deal on wheels if you ask me, especially when previous cleaning services have charged us upwards of 70 bones. One small heads-up: If you tell V-miads you want them there at 8am, they will show up at 7:45, and then your half-naked husband with toothpaste dripping from his mouth might be put in a very awkward situation when you let them in. So, be prepared for them to show up early. They are very eager to make your house sparkle, and quite frankly, I can't hold that against them. Ya know? By the way, the scheduling agent is SUPER friendly and accommodating. We're very satisfied, overall, with V-maids and have scheduled monthly cleanings year-round. Well, I am going to go indulge my senses in some Pinesol and Murphy's Oil Soap, now, so... gotta go! read more

I've been using V Maids for almost two years now and I'm very happy with the service. Booking is really easy and the only time the maids have ever been late, I was given warning beforehand so I knew what to expect. Yes, there are times when the cleanings are better than others (there are different teams that come over, it's not just one team). Still, even the "worst" cleanings are extremely good. I'm always happy with the work that V Maids does. My favorite team is Mariana and Katia, who did an exceptionally good job the last time they were here. Finally, their pricing is great for the work they do. I've tried a few different maid services and haven't gotten nearly as good a cleaning job for the same price. I don't think i have super high standards, but when i hire someone to clean my 2 bed 2 bath apt, i expect to not have to dust after they leave, wipe down my appliances and take out my trash? the women were on time and very nice but upon closer review, they were really not so great. yes, they vacuumed, washed my floors and cleaned my bathrooms (which was the main reason i hired them) but there was visible dirt on my microwave and refrigerator and my bookshelves had NOT been dusted. i guess maybe ill have to just do it myself... read more

What a perfect find! I have trialed many cleaning services in Chicago and V Maids has been the best. They worked quietly around me while I was on a number of conference calls and were very hard workers in the two hours they were here. We have a 3/2 apt and they did a nice job for only 4 labor hours. We've been using V Maids for several years now and have been very satisfied. It's very easy to make an appointment. You put in a request online and get a response from them quickly. They clean everything very well and it's awesome that they will bring their own supplies so you don't have to worry about that. They are also very honest. Last time I left a check for the usual amount, but I got an email from Vaclav letting me know that the team actually finished early so he is going to give me a $22 credit towards our next cleaning. My partner first booked V-Maids for a move-in deep clean, and we were so happy with the results, we had them clean the apartment we were moving out from as well. If you're looking for some quick highlights... Easy to schedule: No weekend cleanings but really flexible with times and quick turnarounds Professional: Take time to listen to your specific requests and set clear expectations. Easy payment: Like others have said, they'll even accept Chase QuickPay. Price: We looked into a couple of places and V-Maids is very affordable compared to others. Speed: In both cases, they cleaned our apartments (both about 1000 sq ft) in 3 hours or less. Details: It's clear the company is smaller and a mom & pop kind of situation, but we feel that's why they are so attentive with your requests. Vaclav is most likely who you will work with to book the cleaning. He's patient with answering questions, makes sure to setup clear expectations of what the cleaning people will and will not do, and he's open to hearing out any specific requests you have. When the cleaning people show up, they don't waste anytime getting to work. They'll ask you to take them through a walkthrough of what you need cleaned. We realize it's important you're detailed about this. After the second cleaning, we did notice some missed spots but they were spots not normally thought of and we had forgot to point them out (e.g. side of the fridge, out-of-sight shelves). The most impressive thing about them is their speed. In both cases, we felt there would be too much for the cleaning people to do in the allotted time, but they got it done without being grossly inattentive or sloppy with their work. read more

I used V Maids for a move out cleaning today--and I've got mixed feelings on the whole thing. The process started on a positive note with an easy setup and prompt email response. The cleaning staff was on time, but needlessly rude. The quality of cleaning was just ok (albeit I had a long list and have high standards--thanks Mom). The price was good ($20 an hour per maid--$100 total) but the staff asked for $20 more than was due. All in all ... I'll probably try someone else next time. read more

I love VMaids! I was using accessmaids for a while and switched to Vmaids after reading some reviews on yelp. I didn't even know some areas were able to be cleaned until after Vmaids came! There are jets in my tub that seemed to have rust on them and no one else could get them clean, but after Vmaids came, my tub looks brand new! The ladies that came were so sweet and thorough. I've been using VMaids for over a year and could not be happier. I breathe a sigh of relief every time I walk in the door after the cleaning people have come. A good friend of mine recommended V Maids to me and I couldn't be more pleased. She had been using them every other week for several years! I finally broke down and wanted to hire someone to completely clean for me because I'm horrible at it and I have family coming in town. V Maids sent me two very nice maids Kathy and Eva both of which could speak and understand English which is a huge plus because we both had questions and there were no communication issues! First of all let me say these guys are FANTASTIC! They were great from start to finish. When I first called to inquire about price, services, etc. everyone was very helpful. I called on Monday to set up my first cleaning and they were able to come as early as that Wednesday. It was clear that they took their job seriously and took extra special care with my things. I was 100% satisfied with their work I would DEFINITELY use them again and I would tell anyone who is thinking of hiring a cleaning service to call them. I selected V Maids after reading Yelp reviews, and today was my first cleaning. I have never had a maid service before so I have nothing to compare it to, but setting up my appointment was painless, I got a $10 discount for setting up a Thursday appointment, and the women arrived during the time slot I was given. Both women were courteous, and my one bedroom was cleaned in 1.5 hours. I was very pleased with their work and I will definitely be a repeat customer of V Maids. read more

Came home and they left dirty dishes still out- For almost $200, to come home and half half full bowls of popcorn laying out and dishes in sink is not OK. surfaces cleaned only throughout. I wish I could give this company NO stars..... I put off writing this review.....but after being harassed by the owner/manager, I couldn't wait any longer. I used Vmaids for over 1.5 years.....and the first year was great - the ladies I had coming in each visit were professional & did a terrific job. I even went so far as to recommend them to my friends. Then one visit in November of 2011 everything changed. I arrived home after the visit & noticed things: things not dusted, rugs not cleaned, things missing (YES, missing!) AND to top all of that off, a half filled can of my soda sitting on the wood of my coffee table in the living room. I complained......not only did they NOT do their job well, but they helped themselves to my beverages & left their garbage sitting out for me to clean up! I complained & received the typical apology email from the owner/manager. Then I got to thinking.....things were SO off.....I realized, it couldn't have been my regular crew. A call to Vmaids confirmed that they sent different people in w/out telling me. I told them I did NOT want those women back in my apartment moving forward. It seemed each visit after that, there was ALWAYS something wrong......skipped dusting certain items, moved things around my apartment, rugs not cleaned, it got to be too much. I complained several times to the owner/manager & I always got the same response - an apology & an assurance that they would talk to my crew. It was ONLY after I said I was tired of paying full price for half the work that they offered to cut a week's charge in half for me. Things kept going along......things did NOT get better. Then one week I had simply had it - I arrived home to the same issues - dishes in the drying rack w/food stuck to them, cob webs on windows (showing they had NOT been cleaned regularly).....rugs not cleaned - the same stuff. So the next visit, I purposefully did NOT leave a payment. Now mind you, there were times I had forgotten to leave the payment.....and in those instances, I always just wrote a check for 2 visits the next time the crew came. So this time I decided I wouldn't pay full price for half the work so I didn't leave a payment. I arrived home to the same issues.....I emailed the owner/manager & again got the same sorry email that offered NO resolution. I explained that I didn't leave the payment because I was tired of paying full price for work that I could have paid someone off the street to do. At this point, I received an email back saying that because I purposefully held payment, that they would no longer come to my home. So they fired me as a client. Why? Because I didn't want to get swindled out of paying full price as I had for months on end? I was very honest.....I explained why I didn't leave the payment......didn't matter. I was furious & demanded they drop my keys off by the end of the week. They would NOT.....It took over a week to get my keys back via mail........and then they started demanding payment for the last visit. I refused to pay full price. They settled on 50% off. I still haven't paid them.......I had to change my locks due to them not getting my keys back in a timely manner - which cost me more than the 50% I owed them. I am not being told they will send me to collections if I do not pay them. I recommend that you do NOT hire Vmaids.......they have poor service and horrific customer service. read more

I have been using V-Maids now since 2013 (so about 5 years). They have helped me at the various apartments in Chicago. Even when the boss said I was out of their service area, I asked them to reconsider, and they accommodated my request, which is above-and-beyond great customer service. Every single time, the ladies that Mr. Vaclav Rus sends to my home do a beyond-belief-excellent job, with attention to detail and resplendent, smiling attitudes while doing it. I absolutely must let the record reflect that V-Maids is better than any other cleaning service I have purchased. I have tried King Maids, Amazon Home Services, and a ton of other cleaning services, but V-Maids has taken the cake EVERY TIME. As a full-time teacher, graduate student, and mother to a nine-month old, I have very little time for domestic stuff, like cooking and cleaning. My wonderful husband kept the house up and cooked for months upon months, until he started training for a half marathon, and then something really had to give... I cannot think of a better way to carve out more time and make life easier than hiring a cleaning service- and V-Maids has been absolutely fantastic. The first place we tried was awful- dust still on some surfaces, she completely missed the baby hand prints on the mirror (it was pretty bad the first week.) I was very disappointed. Well we called V-Maids and Veronika set us up with a pretty regular weekly appointment, and when she told me the cost, I couldn't believe it. Better than I'd imagined. So my expectations were not too high... It's been several months now and the costs are predictable, they've done some special requests here and there for no extra charge (dust the vents, etc.) and they miss NOTHING. The bottom of our rocking chair gets dusted. The garbage can in the bathroom is polished. They put clean sheets on the bed. It's been a real life saver for our family, since my husband and I don't a- dread cleaning b- feel guilty about not cleaning c- fight over who cleans what d- ignore the baby while cleaning. I'd like to add that Veronika is easy to get in contact with via both phone and email, and that I've never had a conversation with the workers, as my husband is the one who is at home, but that we've never had a problem with communication. We used Vmaids for home cleaning in our apartment. Our building has pretty strict rules so we requested to be able to know the people who were coming in advance. Vaclav is very recptive to emails. Because of scheduling there was an instant where we wanted to cancel or change he one and he pushed back. But otherwise times for cleaning were available when we wanted. 2 ladies came -although they don't speak the best English the understood a lot of my questions. They were thorough in cleaning, the place smelled great, and they add a nice touch by putting stickers on the toilet paper roll. They bring their own cleaning supplies and vacuum, always returnes the keys without any problems. They charge for parking, which is usually the case with downtown. They were very professional. Would have continued to use them If we didn't move. read more

I was in the apartment when the cleaning women were there and HEARD them break something. Glass shattering and all. I decided not to say anything just to see if they would admit to it and they didn't. IN FACT, when I looked at the item they broke after they left, they tried to glue it back together. For reals?!?! That's some 11 year old little brother type of shit. The only reason they get a star at all is because the manager was nice when I called to complain. Wonderful wonderful cleaning service. The crews that come are always punctual, polite, friendly, talk out what you want cleaned or done. They try hard to accommodate schedules, even when they change. Vaclav, who answers the phone is very professional, friendly and precise. They also send out a helpful email reminder two days before a cleaning to remind you of the appointment. My fiance and I finally gave up on pretending we had the domestication skills to keep our home spotless, and due to some other reviews here on yelp I decided to give V-Maids a try. They were WONDERFUL and we're going to be having them back every few weeks on a regular rotation. So here's the goods: 1. They were incredibly prompt. The clock hit 8am and they were at our door with cleaning supplies in hand. 2. One of the women spoke English, which is a benefit for us because neither of us are multi-lingual. I was hesitant to put this in my review, because I don't really care what language someone speaks - but it's nice to be able to communicate what you want done. 3. The women were $18 per woman per hour. Two women were sent, and they told us the first clean always lasts the longest, and thus costs the most. They were gone in three hours, which is pretty darn impressive (we have a two story, two bathroom coach house that is fully carpeted, AND we have three cats). I was sure that their services would be more costly. 4. Everything shines. Our home probably hasn't been this clean since we moved into it two years ago. Our house smells fresh, looks great, and is such a pleasure to be in that the fiance and I are trying really hard to keep it this way! 5. Veronika, the owner, was able to set everything up with me via email and she has always been very quick to respond. This is very helpful for me. I'm a teacher and I can't take calls in the middle of the day, but I can find a few minutes to shoot off an email. Thank you v-maids! read more

We had two cleaners - I didn't get to meet them (my husband who works from home was there instead) but when I came home from work, our place looked great. V Maids is a wonderful cleaning service that I would highly recommend. My husband and I use their service every 3rd week. Coming home from work, knowing the house is spotless, is the best feeling. They are highly professional - can email to schedule cleaning times. Prices are reasonable for Chicago. I have no complaints- I am a serious cleaner when I do it myself . V Maids ensure my baseboards are clean and dusted (i have had previous clean services omit this) Kitchen and bathroom and spotless. I used them for a move in cleaning recently and it didn't seem like they really did all that much. They didn't clean inside most cabinets, microwave was still dirty, missed many dusty areas, they used the toilet themselves after cleaning it, and missed many other things. My condo had no furniture or anything like that so it should have been easy for them to do a complete job. I'll have to redo much of what they did because I can't trust they disinfected anything because of all the obvious things they skipped. I thought it was unusual that they were able to estimate exactly what time they were able to finish pretty much down to the minute. I told them to take whatever time they needed (they charge hourly so it shouldn't have been an issue for them). I wasn't there, but looking what they actually did clean it feels like they spent maybe half the time cleaning then the rest of the time just waiting until they reached their estimated finish time. One positive note is that the guy that schedules the cleanings was very responsive and easy to work with. I'm not going back to them to ask for them to clean again though because at this point it's to late and I need to move in. read more
