Initial impressions were positive. Our server was very polite, but clearly new to the job. Apps and salads were very good. When our entrees arrived, everything looked delicious. Chicken Marsala and Piccata, and a generous portion of lasagna. When I cut into the lasagna though, I discovered it was still cool and hadn't been thoroughly heated. I know lasagna is always made in advance and needs to be reheated so no big deal. Waiter brought the lasagna back to be reheated and when he returned with the now warm lasagna, I was shocked at what the kitchen had done. My lasagna was now a small scrap of noodle, meat, and several handfuls of cheese thrown on top to hide how little lasagna was there. I commented to the waiter that the reheating had really shrunk my lasagna and he said they had very powerful ovens. I truly do not fault our server, but this is where inexperience hurt. A seasoned waiter knows what a meal should look like and is the first advocate for the customer, pushing back on the kitchen when they notice a problem. But I was left with a spiteful line cook, and could only imagine what would be done to my lasagna if I sent it back again. So I ate my diet sized portion and left a 20% tip for the waiter and will never eat here again. I wish I had handled the situation differently. In hindsight I should have just sent it back, and had them take the lasagna off the bill. Lesson learned. The other meals which were prepared by qualified cooks/chefs were very good. So if you eat here, Just don't order the reheated options they give to the least experienced line cook to heat up. You'll be much happier. read more

We don't usually go out for Italian, but we took a chance. Our service was very good, Dylan took really good care of our large party. He was very attentive and friendly. The bread and oil was the best party of dinner. The house wine was very good. I had the spaghetti. It really fell flat for me. It really needed more seasoning. The same could said for the calamari. In the end we had a nice, pricey dinner. I really didn't think it was worth it because the food just missed the mark. read more

This is our second Anniversary dinner here. We ate here for our 53rd and 55th . This will be our anniversary place from now on, when we can get to Pensacola. The atmosphere is old style Italian restaurant with a modern flair . The wine was Lambrusco and was wonderful, better than brands we've had before. I had the Italian sausage with zucchini and squash, plus a blue cheese sauce . Linda had their spaghetti and meatballs , and the lobster bisque! It was to die for! We were looking for a highly rated Italian restaurant. V. Paul's got the nod and we couldn't have picked a better choice. Ambiance was nice, prices were reasonable and food extraordinary. Our table had Italian salads, lobster bisque, chicken parm and the Diavolo sausage dish. It was all great, but the bisque and sausage were just absolutely the best. Service was great. We had our wedding reception there and atmosphere? Beautiful. (But possibly because I had to specifically ask them not to use the side of the bar for random storage and to be sure all light bulb strands along the ceiling worked). Food? Great. Coordination leading up to the event and how it was handled at the end? Nope. Bad bad bad. I gave the coordinator very specific info on day 1 when we signed the contract as I was a wedding planner at a country club for years. EXACT food. Room layout. Everything. Asked multiple times for pricing on charcuterie boards. If there were additional charges for certain items. Crickets. So I (erroneously) assumed no additional charge. Until the night before the wedding when we're told additional for focacia (sp? you know, fancy Italian bread lol) and the Gorgonzola Cream Sauce that I can HIGHLY recommend. But what are we going to do the night before but agree? We set up 1 table so they knew what I wanted and Summer (the young lady that actually serviced our party) did a GREAT job. At the end of the night I asked if we could pick up our leftover bread (there was ALOT that I was going to donate to my church) and leftovers including wedding cake on Tuesday (they are closed Sunday and Monday). She said SURE. We show up Tuesday to NO bread. NO leftovers. Only the top layer of cake. Apparently one of the servers gave the leftovers to guests WITHOUT ASKING US. We had a very specific alcohol budget - that they exceeded by 15%. Did we have a great night? Yes. But we were looking forward to enjoying those leftovers including our WEDDING CAKE after our recepetion because you know you don't get a chance to actually ENJOY your food at your own wedding. And that alcohol overage cut in to the money set aside for our Honeymoon. Over the last 4 months I've left several messages and have yet to receive a call back. Not surprised. At all. So. Went on a Thursday night. The service was exceptional! We parked in the Jefferson St Parking garage- you can validate parking here via the hostess stand. We had the Tuscan stuffed mushrooms they were delicious although they could have been cooked a little longer. For an entree had the Salmon with Gnocchi-- it was cooked perfectly- the gnocchi was light and fluffy. Chose the cannoli for dessert perfect to share. We had wine with dinner- wonderful wine list. We were excited to hopefully find an Italian place and it looked good on the site-the restaurant itself is attractive inside. Also had some great reviews! We should have been clued in when we were the only diners at 6 PM and throughout our entire meal. Our dinner started with very old, stale, store-bought white bread. Bruschetta had canned mushrooms (we didn't see ANY caramelized onions on the mushroom/onion bruschetta), an unrecognizable rubbery cheese product ?? and really bad tomatoes on top of a huge plate of not-fresh spring mix. We almost left then, but we had already ordered our entrees and the server was quite nice. We should have left then. I got the veal marsala which was well over $40 but the hockey puck piece of veal had clearly been microwaved and was hard. The mashed potatoes were good. The sauce on the veal marsala had canned mushrooms and what tasted like a canned brown gravy-it was not a marsala sauce. My husband got the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken - two pucks of tough chicken (clearly cooked from frozen) on top.. it was so bad he didn't even eat close to half. There is clearly not a chef in the kitchen and sending anything back would not have been worthwhile. It was shocking that every single thing that came out of the kitchen was so bad. $150 later, we left having only had a few bites of food. There are a lot of really great restaurants in Pensacola. It then took them a good 20-25 minutes for their order to come out and everyone had already finished their food, oh and the steak that they were served was very fatty and tasteless. Friday October 17, 2025 We were promptly seated at the bar and fortunately, there was a menu for us to look through. We had plenty of time (10 minutes plus), to make our food selection as the bartender didn't acknowledge us and when he finally did, we ordered our drinks and food. After more time, we asked for water as our drinks didn't appear. The bartender did a great job of taking care of the gentleman to our right and the ladies to our left, but we missed having any of his attention. While we sat there, watching everyone around us get drinks and food, we talked about leaving. When someone new walked up to the bar, ordered their drinks and promptly received them, we were done. 30 minutes plus after sitting down, all we had received was two glasses of water and we only got that after we asked for it. Went for Girlfriend's birthday and was very good as we got a free dessert. Interesting to note, you have to order a protein to go with a lot of pasta dishes which brings the total to roughly 22-30 per entree depending on what we got. HOWEVER, the Lasagna is EPIC. SOO huge, we both split it and could have had leftovers, and I like to eat a good sized meal so that was a win. Free bread is awesome when that seems like a luxury these days. What a wonderful dinner experience last night at V Paul's. Our waiter, Brandon, was amazing, handling lots of questions, special dietary requests, and ensuring our every experience was delightful. The food was amazing and the portion sizes were huge. My lobster bisque was so filling, I could only put a small dent in my Sausage Fra Diavolo so I have a yummy lunch for today. As stuffed as we were, we had to have dessert. I was pleasantly surprised that the markup on wine was lower than most comparable restaurants so we splurged on a delightful barboresco, which he decanted for us, ensuring the tannins were softened. We made our reservation one month in advance and were glad we did. It was Mardi Gras and the night of the Illuminated Parade. We were seated close to the front window and they invited us to relax and enjoy the parade after our meal. Very kind. Our server was friendly and attentive to our requests. My wife and I went like ordering Calamari for the table, Roasted Artichoke Hearts, with their Sausage & Potato Soup accompanied with Caesar Salads. Just right for a night with the parade activity. My bride also enjoyed a favorite, their Lights on Palafox cocktail (minus the cucumber..) . Everything tasted delicious. My brother recently passed away and we wanted to have a brunch after his funeral Mass at St. Michael the Archangel Basilica. Because of Christmas, most restaurants were booked with office parties. Melissa accommodated our group of 10 at 1:30 pm last Friday when V Paul's was normally closed. She and the chefs came in and cooked a tasty Italian buffet of spaghetti and meatballs, grilled chicken and pasta, mixed vegetables and bread, of course. Aidan was our server who was attentive and friendly. It was an unique experience that our family will not forget. Great Italian place at the heart of Downtown Pensacola. Service was superb and the food was absolutely delicious! The inside is cute and the never ending bread and dipping oil was a nice compliment to the delicious meal. I definitely recommend this place! Overall, V Paul's is a great place for a nice dinner, and although I'm leaving a 3-star review solely based on the meatballs, I'll likely return. The atmosphere is elevated, and the interior is well decorated and enjoyable for fine dining. Unless you're sitting at the bar, you might feel most comfortable in business casual. However, it's not a pretentious place, and you'll be fine in jeans or shorts too. The service here is good but not as great as you may expect for a fine dining experience. There's nothing really noteworthy here; the service is just inconsistent after a few visits. The menu selection is relatively small and the layout is somewhat hard to navigate. There is a decent wine list and most of the main courses you would want to see at a nice Italian restaurant. The minestrone soup is a hidden gem and one of the reasons we always end up here. And the table bread is to die for and surprisingly one of my favorite things about V Paul's. The pasta is always cooked perfectly, and the sauces are fresh and delicious. But the meatballs... The meatballs here are awful...the worst I've ever eaten - including bagged frozen meatballs or those included in Spaghetti-Os. They simply are terrible. First, they are so dense you have to literally cut them with a steak knife. These meatballs are NOT fork tender whatsoever. In addition, they are also bland and lack flavor. But don't miss out on the fact that you could throw this meatball and probably break a window. The first time I ordered Spaghetti and Meatballs, I thought maybe it was just an off night. On my last visit, I ordered it again. When the meat-flavored jawbreakers arrived, I asked the waitress if the meatballs were always that tough (I showed her that I couldn't cut the meatballs with a fork even with pressure). She agreed and quickly returned with "fresh" meatballs that were microwaved and tasted equally like dinosaurs' testicles. Maybe this is V Paul's special take on meatballs; maybe I was raised on something different; maybe I don't know food like I think I do - but I know my mamma would slap the hell outta me if I presented that meatball to anyone other than my dog. Get the soup, ask for extra bacon and dressing on the Caesar salad, eat your weight in bread, and enjoy the fresh pasta. And if you get mad at your enemy, hit 'em with that damn meatball! read more

Pleasant atmosphere with friendly staff (shout out to Robby!). Was able to make a same day reservation. The food was amazing. The bread was very garlicky but delicious. I highly recommend the risotto that comes with the bacon wrapped@ shrimp and the crispy artichoke appetizer. Had to order dessert. Pretty sure the chocolate torte was just ganache it was so thick and rich *drool*. Would definitely come back! read more

Valentine's Night. Even though very busy, service was wonderful. Food was the best ever. Had the risotto with shrimp. Sophisticated and also welcoming. Fresh flowers on every table. Recommend very very highly. Also love the lemon cello cake, calamari appetizer, and caesar salad. read more

We had high hopes for our New Year dinner. We were quickly welcomed at our reservation time, and the waiter promptly greeted us. The initial kids' orders came out quickly. The fries were perfectly hot, and the mac and cheese and great! Those were the only hot plates all evening. All adult meals, and subsequent French fries order, were room temp at best. The prime rib, pork shank (very fatty!), and shrimp risotto were tasty but nowhere near appropriate serving temperature. Ours appetizers were hit or miss on temperature - soup was good, warm but not hot, and the mushrooms were cold. Portion sizes were good, so that was nice. I'll add, it was a preset four course meal, so it very much came across as, "We made this before you even ordered it." The drinks were not well mixed by the bar. After all adults finished their first rounds, only two ordered a second round and stuck with liquor on the rocks. The restaurant had a fair number of guests but was by no means full. Given the headcount, I would have expected more attentive and/or speedier service. When it came time to pay, our server told us it wasn't possible to split the payment between a prepaid visa gift card and a credit card, unless it was a restaurant-specific gift card. With a financial background, I know this to be incorrect. It depends on how you run it, but it's possible. If you don't know, ask somebody who does; if nobody knows, don't claim it isn't possible - tell us you don't know. read more

For a late Valentines Day Celebration, I decided to book a reservation to VPauls thinking I was making a reservation to an upscale restaurant. When we got there, we were seated, got the bread and Moscato. For our meal, I got the Fettuccini Alfredo with Parmesan Crusted Chicken, and my girlfriend got the Lasagna. As an appetizer, we got the meatballs. The meatball appetizer was great, but our food was so bland and to be honest- olive gardens pasta tasted better than this. I was really upset at being so excited to finally eat here, just to have wished we would've chosen something different. Our waiter, Brandon, was amazing and super Attentive, and the establishment was very clean and organized, but the food was awful. Service was great but food was microwaved. Lasagna was still partially frozen in the middle, outer edges were dry and covered with cheese. When I said something I was not given the option to refund or change my menu option. They did re do the order but I was stuck eating bread while my significant other had his food, which was sub par. I was there in gallery night . I had made reservations for one , when I arrived they sit me on the table for 8, I order wine , salad and muscle linguine. They brought me clams. I ask my waiter again for muscle and linguine, she apologize and brought the right food. I was not even finished and she took my plate. I order a desert, which she did . But I was not finish when she brought me the bill without asking me if I need something else. The food was great , but I feel they were rushed me , she did not even ask if I want another glass of wine or coffee.
