I chose this place to celebrate my birthday and it ended up being such a great experience. Since my family couldn't be with me, I was hoping the night would still feel special and it absolutely did. The atmosphere was warm, the food was incredible, and the whole experience felt memorable from start to finish. Our servers, Megan and Jessica, were fantastic and made the evening even better. After having a day of flight cancellations and sitting in the airport all day on our anniversary we decided to try to go to Bonelli's because it's where we normally go for our anniversary. We drove in from New Orleans, and after checking in to the hotel and seeing Fort Pickens, we came to Bonelli's Cafe for dinner. There was a large tent set up for ourdoor seating, and the weather was mild this evening. Several servers passed by and assured us that someone will be with us. After a few short moments, someone arrived and took us and another party to the back, another series of turns, into a secluded wing near the kitchen. The waiter, Marlon P., was very nice, and explained the specials, one of which we ordered: the Muffuletta Baked Rigatoni. He said it was like a deconstructed Muffuletta sandwich (which I didn't get to try in New Orleans). I ate the angel hair with vito's il diavolo sauce with sausage. Also ordered was a lasagna and Nico's Greek salad. The meals were delicious, especially the baked Muffultta Rigatoni! I was impressed by the food, and the area we sat in was decorated nicely! First Impression: not impressed. Which was disappointing because we have been wanting to try Bonelli's for a while. We had reservations at 5:30 got there at 5:25. No one greeted us though three employees locked eyes with us and did not acknowledge us as we waited outside for 7 minutes. My brother finally went inside since it was our first time and we didn't know it there was a hostess stand inside or not- the employee inside was dismissive and said the hostess is taking a to go order right now and told us to wait in a demeaning manner. When inside we saw on their menu that they are slow and that they have a 3.99% credit card fee... wish they told us when I made the reservation so I could bring cash. They also wrote on the back of the menu. if you don't leave a tip with the server, 20% will be charged. We ordered appetizers and entrees- my mom and I wanted to share , there is a surcharge for sharing (our server graciously waived) The restaurant is small- just a handful of indoor tables but decent amount of seating outside; though fairly hot. Food was alright- but pricey even without protein. Nothing to write home about. Our waiter Logan was good, but overall not the best experience. read more

After reading the 4.5 Star Yelp reviews and a couple failed attempts to get reservations, we finally got our chance to try it for ourselves. Unfortunately, Bonelli's does not live up to the Hype for us. Growing up around Upstate NY Italians, I've enjoyed an endless amount of delicious authentic Italian Food and Bonelli's was not it. The inside of the restaurant was very small, with limited seating. The outside covered patio with was much bigger than the inside. We ordered Salbo's Meatballs which were moist and tender but the flavor was more Mediterranean than Italian. Dad's Mushrooms had almost the same Med flavor but greasy and gritty. I ordered a small side of Alfredo Sauce for my wife which the server had to ask permission from the chef to get it. All in all, I'm glad we tried it for ourselves, but still need to find a favorite Italian Food in Pensacola. read more

Went there for the first time last night with my wife. Amazing experience. Our server Logan was on point. Great suggestions, very informative about anything we had questions on. Personable and will definitely request on our next video. Started out with the Garlic Confit. Incredibly deep flavored garlic over feta cheese with some roasted tomatoes. I had Chicken parm but subbed for their rustic Alfredo with a level hot spice to it! Have you ever had spice Alfredo? No? Me neither. Now I may never be able to eat it the same way. Five stars all around! Got a chance to visit this family business while visiting the area and was very happy that we did. The bread was amazing, the salad was tasty (with very fresh vegetable...much to the enjoyment of my vegan dinner-mate) and the entree was impressive. We ordered the Vito's Il Diavolo Sauce with Rigatoni. This is available in 6 heat levels (mild, medium, hot, gina's hot, ghost, and vito's hot (no take backsies). On any given day, I am able to handle an elevated level of heat. In most establishments I can handle a level 8 out of 10 and still thoroughly enjoy my meal. We ordered gina's hot thinking it would settle at a medium but were very wrong. Don't get me wrong, the food was still AMAZING, but we needed to take off any outer layers of clothing to deal with the heat sweat. Everyone is town says this place is a must but I was a little disappointed. I called for a reservation day of and they were able to fit us in right at 5pm which was great. When we got to the restaurant we were very rudely approached by the hostess. She almost yelled at us "we're full" before we could even get a word out about our reservation. Thankfully there was a server nearby that saw this interaction and took care of us. After that experience I almost wanted to leave but my mother convinced me to stay and dine. My husband ordered chicken Parmesan dinner and requested no cheese(so basically cutlet w/red sauce) I order eggplant parm on rigatoni. The chicken parm was sliced boiled chicken ( no breading) with an inch of broiled mozzarella on top of pasta. When we immediately said we requested no cheese the waiter said oh it's not your favorite? You can order something else. My eggplant was chunks 2-3 inches of boiled eggplant (again no breading) undercooked to the point I thought they gave me steak. (Then again topped with broiled mozzarella) I could not cut through it. However, you can only make so many jokes on your menu about being "Slonelli's" and have your waitresses tell everyone how slow you are before it just gets insulting. This place is legitimately the longest wait I think I have ever had at a restaurant, so even though their food was delicious, I don't think I will come back again too soon because I do not enjoy waiting an hour and 10 minutes after ordering my meal until it comes out. The seating is a bit limited, so we were sat on the patio which was blocked from the wind and has quite a few nice heaters to make our dinner very comfortable. The menu is very traditional Italian with several House specialties. Our table had a mixture of several dishes and all were good. By far my favorite was the House specialty baked cheese ravioli. Both were delicious! We got the green salad for an appetizer and had 2 plates of the free bread. The food took about an hour to come out so we were starving haha! It was definitely worth the wait.
