Food was sub par. Two dishes we ordered were drowned in Gorgonzola sauce and overwhelming. Fettuccine tasted like it was right out of the package. Marinara was basic basil nothing extraordinary. Bottom line: great food presented well in a lovely setting. Service was a problem. During a quick getaway in Pensacola, we strolled up and down Palafox trying to decide on dinner. V Paul's was the choice after looking at the menu and looking in at the upscale interior. We were greeted warmly at the host stand, but decided to seat ourselves at the bar. There were two people working behind the bar. We ordered the sparkling Lambrusco. It was bubbly perfection. But that's when things kind of got sideways. The first server never came back. We had to flag the second one to get water and order an appetizer. It was apparent that the second server was either unhappy with his job or unhappy with us. As we waited on our appetizer, my lovely gal, who works for an upscale restaurant group, beseeched me to just pay for the wine and walk out. I convinced her to wait for our appetizer, artichoke hearts, and then we would head out. Our server brought the plate and looked away uncomfortably, like he wished his arm was twice as long, as he sat it before us. We also had to ask for utensils. I watched the server give another party the "look away" treatment. However, the artichoke hearts were delicious. We stayed. Feasted on beautiful entrees and a lovely dessert. We know it's hard to find good folks. The food and presentation and decor were outstanding. We would definitely eat there again...but not with the same two servers. read more

I'm we have been here several times over the last 2 years and were very satisfied with the service and food. However, this last visit was extremely disappointing. Although my husband was satisfied with his meal, my veal was burned on one side and tough. The service was so poor. Our server did not greet us on a timely basis, salads too forever to arrive, and he returned to the table infrequently to check on drinks. Unbelievably fantastic dinner for our anniversary. Service by Zack was perfect- friendly, helpful and fun. I had risotto with Mahi (Pesce Angelina) and it was one of the best things I've ever had. So I came here for my best friend's wedding reception.We had five tables set up for us for the 40 people we had coming, and the decor was super nice and classy, but not too pompous. It was just right. The perfect porridge. The servers were some of the nicest ones I have encountered in a catering format like that. They really turned on the charm, but they seemed really authentic about it. The lady at the open bar denied no request, and she got tipped very well for her service. While we were all mingling and drinking and waiting, the servers brought around appetizers for us to sample. There were mozzarella sticks, which were good because they did not taste like they were from frozen. They had some meatball sliders, which were delectable. The bread was so buttery and crisp and the meatball was very moist and umami. And then the star of the show, the crab cake. So much crab in a little ball that looked like it was broiled hard to a crisp outside and a crabby inside. The only thing was there was a lot of oil on the outside of them, but that did not stop me from eating my fair share of them. As for the buffet food, there was a salad bowl that I passed up, of course. There was a fettuccine alfredo that was good, a bowtie pasta that was even better, and both of them were lightly sauced with a really simple white or red sauce. Not too much, not too little. Again, a good porridge. With your pastas, you got the choice of meatballs or shrimp. I saw a lot of folks getting both, though, just furthering my point that these guys had A+ customer service. I regret to say I didn't try a meatball, but the shrimp was somehow perfectly cooked. In a giant batch like that, I was expecting rubbery little circles, but no, they were perfect, and the seasoning was very Old Bay/Italian seasoning, but not harsh. Good for everyone's palate. I actually went back for seconds, and thirds. There were some grilled vegetables and some broccolini. The vegetables were there, and the broccolini was actually very good. I wish it was more plentiful than actual broccoli in real life. It's just better. Overall, this place rocked my socks, and if you should ever need a catering service/reception hall in the Pensacola area, I would recommend this place. I was pleased. read more

Considering how messed up our country is with the lack of good hard workers not looking for a Gov't hand out our service was great even though it was really busy. The food was as Italian as you can get except for the Cannoli del Giorno and calamari. I had the sausage parmigiana and it was awesome my wife had the chicken fettucini and my sister-in-law had the Lasagna and they were all very good. The Calamari Fritti was a big disappointment and we ordered the Cannoli del Giorno but canceled it when they said it was filled with Nutella??? and not Ricotta, these are the reasons we did not give 5 stars read more

Wonderful place. Really fabulous food. Attentive service. Beautiful decor. Very romantic, perfect for a special occasion or even a proposal! Hubby and I went for Valentine's Day dinner and this place did not disappoint! They had a special menu for the evening with lots of choices. I had bruschetta with several different toppings. My favorite was the strawberry. It was so perfectly balanced with the other toppings and really a treat for the tongue. Next I had lobster bisque. I probably liked this the least only because I ate the lobster topping first not realizing that was pretty much all the lobster in the cup. It was delicious however. Next I had the piccata. I took a screenshot from their menu as I forgot to take a picture but the menu showed exactly what mine looked like. A large stack of chicken piccata artfully arranged atop wilted spinach and scrumptious mashed potatoes. Really this was so delicious. More than one person could normally eat too. The sauce was perfect. I love chicken piccata and this was perhaps the best I've ever eaten. Truly. Finally I had the chocolate torte which did not disappoint. I love chocolate and this was the perfect end to a delicious meal. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant. The vibe, classy. It reminded me of the fine Italian restaurants I miss from when I lived in Las Vegas. Yes I'd say this restaurant was of that caliber. And my meal was supposed to have basil but seemed to have some sprouts? I know what basil looks like and that wasn't it. I called and easily set reservations. The place is set up nicely. A very clean look. We got a seat up by the window which worked perfectly. We started with the cheese plate. Although it wasn't labeled, we were able to navigate it easily. The little dollop of pesto in the center with the crostini was the highlight. Honestly, if I could have just had a plate of that, i would have been happy. They also brought us some bread and oil. The oils was mixed with balsamic- which made me super happy. The bread was soft and very tasty. The prices were very fair and the menu had lots to choose from. I did my usual and had the waitress surprise me with something because I couldn't decide. The wifey opted for the chicken parmigiana. I ended up with the Seafood Pasta. It had some perfectly cooked shrimp on a skewer and a lobster tail atop a bed of pasta and sauce. It was good. But not as good as the wifeys chicken parmigiana! That was the true highlight of the evening. The chicken was breaded and cooked brilliantly. The sauce on the noodles was mouthwatering. Our group of eight was seated quickly and our server was prompt. So far so good. Drinks were brought out quickly and orders were taken. Still tracking nicely. Food was delivered and was visually appealing. And then, the first bite...meh. Just average. The hangar steak was cooked perfectly, but the flavor just wasn't there. It rested on a bed of veggies in a lime/basil cream sauce which was great, but I paid the big bucks for steak, not veggies. My wife ordered the veal piccata which was disappointing. On the plus side, this is a big entree, but didn't resemble a piccata dish. It was heavily breaded and covered in gravy. More like a chicken fried steak. The lovely lemony flavor that typically compliments a piccata dish was completely absent. On the plus side, the atmosphere was fantastic and service was friendly. The chef stopped by our table and introduced himself and chatted with us for a few minutes. He was a class act. We haven't been in a couple of years. We had Friday night reservations on Gallery night. Plenty of parking in back. It is paid parking but it is close and convenient. We had a lovely table by the window and a great server who not only knew the menu but what wine and spirits were available. We shared apps and ordered scampi, lasagna and mussels. Everything was delicious and our server checked back exactly the right amount. No one was ever without a drink or had a dirty plate in front of them. One thing that is important to share, this is not a quick dinner. It is a leisurely experience.
