We opted to eat our meal at the bar with high tables and slightly warmer feel as it is open to the outdoor space. Service was great. I ordered something that was no longer on the menu and they were able to accommodate my request. All staff were very friendly and gave great recommendations. Food was delicious. Let me begin by reminding my loyal followers--who know I have the subtlety of a brick when reviewing food--that I grew up in Italy. I don't expect perfection in America. I do, however, expect witnesses to at least resemble the crime scene. The menu lured me in with a Margherita Classico: San Marzano tomato sauce, bufala mozzarella, and basil. I misunderstood. I assumed they meant San Marzano tomatoes, not a tomato sauce salted so aggressively it could preserve Pompeii for another 2,000 years. Americans do love putting sauce on everything, and I can live with that. But a proper Margherita doesn't need to swim. Let the tomatoes do the talking. The basil was fresh and lovely. The "bufala mozzarella," however, appeared to have called in sick and sent its bargain-bin cousin from the discount dairy aisle. If that was buffalo mozzarella, then I'm the Pope. The biggest heartbreak was the dough. It actually looked promising, but instead of light, airy, crisp, and kissed by a wood-fired oven, it had the personality of a yoga mat. Authentic pizza dough should make you smile before you even notice the toppings. Here's the baffling part: this isn't ancient family knowledge guarded by Italian grandmothers on mountaintops. The entire recipe is free. It's on YouTube. Thousands of Neapolitan pizzaioli have practically filmed a master's degree for anyone willing to spend ten minutes watching. The staff was genuinely friendly, the restaurant was clean, and I honestly believe they're trying to do something special. That's what makes this disappointing instead of merely bad. When you advertise authenticity, people expect authenticity--not a pizza that needed a passport just to identify itself. If anyone knows a truly authentic Italian pizza place in Raleigh, please point me there next time. My partner says I should stop trying to emotionally process mozzarella. read more

My sister, brother, and I dined at V Pizza + Flask in Brier Creek and had a great experience! The Brier Creek location is basically in a strip mall and no frills, but don't let that fool you. The food, drinks, and service was all great! There is a fun bar area (opens at 3pm) and in addition, a mid-sized dining area. We went between lunch and dinner, so it was pretty slow which was nice & relaxing. We started with waters and opted for a glass of red wine. Their wine list is decent, and cocktails begin at 3pm. We ordered a few menu items: Buffalo Wings, Caprese Plate with Proscuitto, Side Salad, Piccante Pizza, Pepporoni Pizza, and the Butter & Cheese Noodles (we love a good pasta with Pecorino Romano). The Wings were crispy and delicious, spicy but not too spicy. The Caprese Plate was also great, super fresh and flavorful all around. The salad was fresh and enough to share. Both of the pizzas were yummy, we shared the Piccante Pizza and I got the Pepperoni Pizza to go for my daughter. Lastly, the noodles. These were not bad, but I would not get them again as they were a little bland. That being said, they were on the kid's menu so no big deal, we really just wanted to try them out. I was greeted with a warm welcome and asked if they had a meat lovers option and the worker made a suggestion, sadly I don't recall what the name of the specialty pizza was but it was really quite good. Saw V Pizza in the Raleigh Magazine and decided to check it out. We went to the Brier Creek location which has that new restaurant feel. Staff was welcoming as soon as we entered. Great the whole night. We sat at a high top towards the back and were able to see the nice patio shared with Flask. We ordered a couple of Old Fashion variations from the Flask menu and both were good. Ordered the small Cesar salad which was more than enough for two, very fresh and the dressing was exceptionally good. Now the pizza, which is why we are here! Very nice, not burnt as some describe and the center was nice and firm, not soggy. Not a heavy pizza which I appreciate. Sauce excellent and pepperoni had a nice kick. Definitely in our rotation now. Today was a first visit with small group of colleagues pre-celebration lunch! Ample parking, greeted upon entry and invited to pick any seat. Walked past the gelato and thought let's get dessert!!! A young man, sorry did not recall his name with a friendly warm smile, brought us menus, took drink orders, and answered questions and would inquire about gluten free for pizza. Another person came and was eager and ready to take the table's order. Answered the GF question and selected first one GF not cauliflower. Another reviewer mentioned they do not write down the orders....impressive everything was delivered correctly although one order was a tad overdone.....they offered to remake it but my colleague was not one to complain or send food back....unlike me, sorry! No stars deducted. We mostly ordered lunch special V Pizza except one opted for dessert! :) We lost track of time catching up and enjoyed everything! First visit and everything was wonderful. I was worried selecting another place for last meal with colleague if it was terrible as a favorite establishment is in nearby vicinity BUT it was great and they too will return. Happy as this location was a 1st try for all of us and might see us more regularly. Solid 5 star experience and did not disappoint. I went here yesterday around 5:30 to 6:00, and the service was really bad. When we walked in, someone told us to take a seat, so we did. We sat there for about 45 minutes and no one came over to us. No greeting, no water, nothing. What made it worse was that two other people came in after us and were helped right away. The server even looked at us and still did not acknowledge us. At that point, we got up and left. We ended up going to Brixx Pizza instead, and the difference was night and day. Great service and good food. I got my confirmation with a window for when I could pick up my order. I went to pick up my order, when I got there they apologized but told me that one of the items was not available and that they would refund me If I couldn't find an alternative. I opted for the refund but they could not do a refund through GrubHub so I took an alternative item. Hence, I'm very happy with the service at V Pizza, my meal was excellent. He was a little occupied with one table that I guess had a few particular menu requests, so he didn't get to me for a good five minutes. Not his fault. For the app, I went with V signature wings, which have a lot of lemon and garlic to them. I got 5 topped with caramelized onions. Nice size wings, pretty juicy, and super messy. I think I would have added a little fresh parsley on top; a little green could be a nice contrast to the dark brown of the wings and onions. And I did live in Chicago for 20 years, so I had to try their Italian beef, wet and hot giardineira. The bartender asked if I wanted cheese, and I said cheddar would be fine. It was actually a cheddar/gouda blend and I didn't know it would be another $2.50. But it was still good, they broiled the sandwich so the cheese got all caramelized and crispy. I knew the roll was not going to hold up, so I just ate the beef, cheese, and giard. Very flavorful, esp with the au jus. I would return to try more of the menu, especially since I still haven't had their pizza. Not a perfect experience, but they do have a very unique menu and they do execute it quite well. And the product is grade A! My wife came with me this time so I tried a bit more. She's from up north so it takes a lot for a pizza place to impress her -- but V Pizza made a big impression on her. She got the Ceasar Salad with croutons and she greatly enjoyed the little bit she got because they brought us a surprise order of wings for her first time eating there. They say customers get a free order of wings on their first visit! She loved the wings! We've eaten here three times in six months. The last time was lunch during the week. Only two other tables. We ordered salad and a carnivore pizza. Even though the meat was prepared, dried, processed etc, my partner didn't like the smell and it didn't seem fresh even for what it was. We've had this pizza before and we liked it last time. It's a very casual place and even in an empty restaurant, it took a long time before anyone checked on us. So we didn't think we should wait for them to make something else. We prefer Brixx even though the pizza doesn't have as much meat. The service is 10x better and food quality is 100x better. And we're not drinking out of plastic cups and using paper towels. Crave-worthy Pizza & Wings! Lunch specials until 3pm! First reaction on entering was that we were supposed to order at the counter. We perused the menu on the wall, ready to make our choices, but no one was at the counter. Then a Gal appeared who told us we could sit wherever we wanted and she would bring us menus. This energetic Gal was literally taking care of everything out front. Alone. Could not have been easy. Folks were finishing up and there were tables that needed to be bussed. But she was working as hard as she could. We managed to catch them on this Saturday before the 3:00 lunch deadline, so instead of 13 inch pizzas, we each got a personal 10 inch size. You can make a lunch combo of a drink and salad for a little bit more, which Husband did. He got a side caesar and diet Coke, while I had to try their Signature Wings, along with unsweetened tea. They do have wine and beer, and you can order liquor from cocktail bar Flask which they are joined with. Drinks were served in relatively small disposable plastic cups. Guessing it would be easier for the wait staff if these cups were bigger. Am personally not a fan of plastic for dining in. Same issue with the side salad. It came in a small plastic take-out container with a small plastic cup of dressing, and another plastic container of croutons. She did bring real plates though, so after struggling with it in the containers, Husband got smart and poured it onto the plate, but there was really no good way to properly incorporate the thick dressing. Caeser salads should be mixed in a bowl and served on a plate or in a bowl, imho. Very soon our two pizzas and my wings arrived and any salad struggles were immediately forgotten. Yum!! They do everything in the wood-fired ovens which makes for the most amazing wings and perfect Naples style pizza. Slightly charred crust, zesty sauce and quality toppings. I loved my Salsiccia and Husband really liked his Bolognese one (although why they don't just call it a Meatball pizza, I don't know). Wing lovers...TRY THEM! The caramelized onions on those Signature wings that have the most incredible sauce on them... this is finger-lickin' good at a new level. (good thing they have rolls of paper towels on the tables) I can't say how happy I am that Husband doesn't do bones so I have leftovers. Looking forward to the pizza leftovers too. With wings and pizza of this quality, we both wish the restaurant had less fast-food-like tendencies with the plastic items and the overall stark atmosphere. We got the Hawaiian wings and our friends got the signature and we shared. I am fairly certain one of the orders only came with 9 wings, not 10. In general the wings were far too charred. I really liked the sauce on the Hawaiian wings so it is unfortunate. We got the delle donne pizza and liked it, but it did come out a little.... Less than hot. Our friends got the Buffalo pizza and asked for no Gorgonzola, but there was Gorgonzola. The service was quite bad. Our server barely ever checked on us, we had to re-order our sodas and waters from the bussers/hostess who came to check on us. Food was excellent. Got the carnivore pizza, very fresh and delicious. I asked for a side of balsamic to dip the crusts in (I know, that's probably weird) and the balsamic was the thickness of motor oil - the best I've had here in the States. They have big containers of oregano, red peppers, and Parmesan on each table. The restaurant itself is a little stark and cold but it's ok. Parking is no issue. Giant parking lot that is 80% empty. Took about 10-15 minutes for it it to be ready. The portion size was pretty huge to me and was cut into 4 pieces.
