Gotta love a new pizza spot on the Island. Pizzas and wings are really good in their brick oven. You have to love Neapolitan style pizzas though (very thin and some burned crust). While they could be a little more generous on ingredients added to the pizza - it's well worth the price. Keep an eye out for the lunch specials as that's where the real savings can be had. Wings are a real plus and the Cryin Hawaiian style is a signature and go-to delight. Sweet with some real heat at the end. The grilled pineapple and peppers are good eating too. He took the time to tell us about the specials they offer and the history of "V".The same professionalism can be said for Chris,the bartender. You will be truly disappointed if you are expecting a true Italian pizza. If you're OK with an Americanized version and you don't mind very salty food the dough is not bad. A pizza like this in Italy would be considered HORRIBLE and UNACCEPTABLE. I have lived all my life in Italy, and when I read that the ingredients come from Italy I had perhaps some expectations. I was very disappointed. I had to ask them to remake the pizza without putting any salt to get closer to what we eat in Italy. Otherwise it was seriously inedible. Unfortunately this was our first and last time to visit. The wife and I were excited to visit a new pizza place on the island but that soon came to an end. Arrived on a Friday evening and yes it was a little busy but that's expected so we didn't mind the wait as we weren't in any hurry. We ordered a pizza and one beer at the register and got our number. The cashier swiped my card as I was going to have more than one beer so I left my tab open. She told me my beer would be right out (bottle of coors) 20 min later I went to the same person and asked for my beer. As I was waiting I noticed an open coors bottle at the bar with the waitress' hands wrapped around the bottle as it looked like she was trying to cool her hands off. I sat down and low and behold the beer that was brought to me was the so call hand chiller. While waiting, I'm not sure what the females position was but it's almost like this place caters to "those" that look like they have money! Almost sickening as you could watch the female ask certain patrons if everything was ok and if they needed something else while ignoring others. Pretty sickening as being a local like I am! I don't expect others to cater or even acknowledge me but this was disgusting. Approx 50 min later our pizza arrived. I will have to tell you we were very disappointed. The pizza lacked toppings, was not even Luke warm, was extremely soggy and was not seasoned at all. Unfortunately that's not it. The wife and I hadn't ate all day and on the way home it instantly hit in the worse way. I had to pull over so the wife could vomit and I could hardly make it home to use the restroom, it was horrible! Definitely not going back and I'd suggest you not either unless you want to get sick! We went here because we heard great things about the Jacksonville location from a family friend, and boy were they right. Everything was spectacular down to the hospitality, the owners couldn't be nicer. Cauliflower crust is hard to nail but this is hands down the best cauliflower pizza I've ever had. We ordered calzones for lunch at SSI location. Two were missing ingredients. One was supposed to have onion and black olives but only had onions. Another was supposed to have garlic and meatballs but only had very little amount of meatballs. The calzones are definitely not worth the cost. We used to travel all the way from St. Simons Island Georgia to Jacksonville Florida just to go to V. Pizza- same went for Chinese food. The local choices just did not cut the mustard for NYC Expats living in coastal Georgia. Now that we have pulled up stakes and moved to Savannah, they went ahead and opened up a location here on St. Simons. I wonder if they will follow us to Savannah as well? We weren't about to leave without sampling the food at the newest location a few times before we left and this is our report. Any new location is going to have some bumps and mishaps before the routine gets smooth and although the food and service were not quite on par with Jacksonville, the pizza and Italian specialties are far superior to any pizza available on St. Simons or indeed the entire area. These people take pizza and food seriously, and you should too. They understand Italian cooking and take deep pride in their food. Any Italian knows you take the absolute best, freshest ingredients and cook them in a simple manner so that the taste and flavor of the ingredients shine through. V Pizza uses the best ingredients most of which is imported from Italy - San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella di bufala, Olive Oil and - 00 finely ground Italian flour, which is the gold standard for all Italian cooking, especially thin-crust pizzas and homemade pasta. It all has to do with texture! Right off the bat, after entering the place you realize you have been transported (thankfully) out of the bowels of chain-pizza hell into paradise. By paradise I mean hand-made Ferrara Pizza Ovens. These works of art are the Maserati of all pizza ovens and have been in business for over 100 years. A Stefano Ferrara oven can cost as much as the $25,000 and the sight of them lets you know that you are in for a great pizza and that the owner knows his shit and simply does not compromise. It only takes 90 seconds for the whole thing to come together in perfection and you need to seriously do yourself a favor and eat your meal there. This type of food needs to be eaten on the spot as soon as it hits the table. You are not going to experience the bliss and expertise if you take this home. Please, relax, sit down and enjoy some of the best pizza that you will ever eat. Also, don't forget to try the wings as they are both unusual and excellent and make for a fine start. Don't forget the meatballs- again a simple thing but when done right with the best ingredients and care really capture the past and Nonna's homecooking. St. Simons is clearly the winner here as authentic, superb pizza and other Italian specialties have finally washed up on our Georgia shores. If I could give it a zero stars , my husband and I went to V Pizza today , it was our first visit there . We ordered their 10 pice Signature wings price on menu $13.00, their 10 piece Calabrian wings price on menu $13.00 , a side salad price on menu $5.00 and a pizza . When we received our check , we were charged $ 18.50 for each order of wings and $ 7.00 for the salad . We let the waitress know that there was a $ 13.00 overcharge on our check. She checked with the manger and informed us that their prices had gone up but they haven't had time to update the menus ???? Obviously they didn't have time to inform us when we ordered them either. I asked to speak to the manager, who finally came to speak with us with an attitude that they had to raise their prices but have chosen to not change the prices on the menu . This is outrageous that a restaurant feels an entitlement to take advantage of their customers and overcharge them without their knowledge. By the way their pizza was so salty that we could not eat it , worst pizza , such a waste of $16.00 . read more

Loved this place! Wish there was one back at home. I was at the Cloisters for a business conference. Came to V Pizza for dinner one evening while my colleagues went out to a fancy seafood restaurant. Turns out, I was the only one in my group that had a fantastic meal! I started with the V signature wings. When I think of wings, I think of buffalo wings (like BWWs). Get that out of your mind, since these are 100x better. Real flavor from the marinate and seasonings and from being roasted in the brick oven. Forget about wings that are deep fried and slathered with sauce. With these, you taste the flavor and enjoy the tenderness of the meat since it's not fried to a crisp. You can get these as a meal or split them with a group before your pizza. I had the Flyin Hawaiian pizza with the calabrian pepper oil added. That was very tasty. I normally favor NY style pizza but I would say Neapolitan is probably my second favorite. With the brick oven, the pizza comes out with a great little char to it. I liked the Flyin Hawaiian since I normally go with a meat-heavy pizza. This was a great change-of-pace for me. I really enjoyed the flavor of it. The layout of the place is really nice too. I liked the flow from the indoor to the outdoor seating thru the big garage doors that open up the place. Wish they had a TV outside showing the game, but I guess that's by design to just have them inside. Two final comments... the woman serving me was great. You could tell she enjoyed working there and was proud to describe and recommend choices to me. And lastly, take a look at their website and pizza boxes.
