    Gumbo and blackened chicken nachos
    Mike G.

Stopped in for a well needed happy hour since it was close by. My wife ordered a $6 HH glass of wine and I ordered an old-fashioned with well bourbon, which was old Forrester. There was a $3 up charge for the OF on top of the $6 well bourbon. We then ordered a few items off the happy hour menu, including the duck egg roll (good), shrimp dip (just ok) blackened chicken nachos (good) and a dozen oysters on a half shell (very good). The oysters were very nice and everything else was fine. I might pass on the shrimp dip next time as it was a cold dip and just OK served with some regular crackers. I also ordered a bowl of gumbo, which was hot and very tasty. Overall, we were satisfied and I recommend trying i this place. The happy hour is decent and it's situated at the Marina.

First time in St Simon's Island and we had lots to choose from. Coastal Kitchen was a fine pick. Nicely done "coastal" ambiance. Service was very quick and friendly. My husband had the chicken dinner and was happy with it. I had Caesar salad and a half pound of leek and eat shrimp. The shrimp were quite large and tasty.

Five of us went to what used to be Emaline &Hessies years ago. It seemed a bit smaller than remembered, though the bat area was substantial. We got a coveted table by the window with a view of the water, boats and the sunset. We started with an order of oysters, which looked amazing. I was definitely tempted, although I've recently sworn off oysters. Three of our group ordered redfish, two low country style and one Asian influenced. Another ordered a shrimp and scallop pasta that had andouille sausage and sounded New Orleans style. My own order was the scallops with sweet pea risotto over arugula. I absolutely moved mine. The risotto was so creamy and delicious. The scallops were perfectly seared and amazing. It was melt in your mouth great. Every single one of us was raving that it was the best seafood meal they'd had in ages. So I am jealous of my two friends who actually live in SSI and can come back again. LOL, I'll have to visit them again soon for some more Coastal Kitchen.

So delicious in a fresh atmosphere and excellent service. So many scrumptious seafood options from oysters to lobster and crab ravioli. One of our friends is allergic to seafood and they were super mindful to her needs. I highly recommend.

So great to have Coastal Kitchen back in business. Great food, super bar and an amazing location. The service was excellent and we can't wait to go back again soon. Try it out and you love it.

    Dirty oysters

Me and a couple friends chose Coastal Kitchen to celebrate a birthday and had a 10/10 experience. Renesha took care of us giving friendly and attentive service ,and she even brought out the yummiest butter pecan pie with a lit candle for our birthday girl. The best view in town and the dirty oysters are a must try: raw oysters served with crema, caviar, shallots, and hot sauce. We had the best dinner thanks to Renesha!

The service was amazing and i want to start with that. They were quick and friendly and answered all our questions about the menu. we sat outside and it felt nice with a breeze from the water. i ordered the lobster ravioli and i was so excited. unfortunately i really disliked it and when the waitress noticed, she immediately asked if there was something else. I ended up ordering the blackened redfish and it was amazing!!

Stellar cocktails, friendly service, great views, modern design aesthetic, and incredible food. My only gripe is that they do not take reservations, though even on a Friday night, I've been able to get seated within 20-30 minutes, and you can always grab a drink from the bar and hang out on the lawn while you wait. This most recent visit, I started with the seafood chowder, one of my favorite soups on the island. Creamy, hearty, with plenty of fish, shrimp, crab, and potatoes. Shared a crabcake with my girlfriend--another solid choice, with plenty of crab, not too heavy on the filling, and with a lovely remoulade. For mains, we both had the grilled redfish, a baked potato for me, and mixed veggies for her. Perfectly cooked pieces of fish with a nice crust on the outside while still being moist and tender. Dessert this time was the chocolate pie, which was quite nice, not being too heavy nor excessively sweet. Did I mention the cocktails? I'm a big fan of the smokey mango Fiddlerita (a mezcal take on the classic marg), and the saladito a close second (again, mezcal, but with a little honey and cayenne). The girlfriend enjoys the basil smash (hold the simple syrup, please). Previously, we've tried the artichoke dip, which is also fantastic, shrimp and grits (solid, but Reid's does it better), blackened tripletail over creamy leek sauce (a special, and special indeed), and the key lime pie (excellent). You really can't go wrong here.

Another great experience!…read more Had a dozen Maine oysters on the half shell and they were fairly big with a nice brine to them. I then had the Drunken Clams with the clams coming from Sapelo Island. The broth they were cooked & served in had a nice spice with great depth of flavor which included garlic! Yum! So much so one of my friends in the party finished off the broth by eating it as a soup!! For my entree, I had the Clams linguine in their white sauce which was also very flavorful The others in the party had the special which was a Sheepshead filet, fried shrimp as well as more oysters from St James River. All said their meals were awesome! We sat outside where we saw sunset on the marsh which was very pretty. Started out a bit warm but the fans made it nicer. Our server was very nice & pleasant and did a very good job during our visit. Thank you again for a positive experience. Our visitors from the Atlanta area now have this on a to do each visit!

The business has a small parking lot it shares with other businesses, there is also a small gravel lot beside it that you can park at. If you go at a busy time, parking can be a chore. Upon arrival, the business was busy with both inside and outside seating filled but we were seated immediately at a table with both bench and chair seating that shared the bench with other tables. There is also bar seating and you can sit at a high top that borders the brew stations. It took a few minutes for us to meet our server who took our drink orders. Soda for her and non-alcoholic IPA for me. It took our server a while to bring our drinks and she forgot my IPA so she had to go find it. Once we had our beverages, we ordered our food. We started with the bacon wrapped blue cheese dates - the dates are served on tooth picks and looked great but the blue cheese overpowered the flavor of everything else. My wife ordered the special of the day (not on everyday menu) which was shrimp tacos with a black bean pineapple salsa and house made chips and fries. I opted for the house burger with cheddar cooked medium and chips and fries. It took a long time for our food to come out and after observing our server chatting it with a table of her friends who were behind us, I am pretty sure she may have forgot to order it in a timely manner. When our food came it was auctioned off to us by another team member (no server to be found). My wife's tacos were overstuffed and fell apart. I tried one and the fried shrimp tasted really fishy to me, not like fried shrimp is supposed to taste. My burger was okay but nothing special. Really wanted to like this place but it did not live up to our expectations.

Stopped in here last night at this locally owned St Simons sit-down seafood location for dinner…read more We arrived around 7pm and were told by the hostess that it would be a 30 minute wait. We opted to wait in the lobby on the benches they provide. While waiting we noted that they have indoor seating, outdoor starting in a screened in porch, and bar seating which is first come first serve. After a short wait, the hostess took us to our table, a two-top covered with butcher block paper. We met our server who was polite and promised us some samples of shrimp (that we never got - but other tables did). Our server did a great job answering questions we had about the menu and even provided some helpful suggestions. Please note, the tables a located close together, so if the table beside you has a loud talker, you can feel like part of their convo. We opted for 2 shrimp dinners (16 shrimp with 2 sides and choice of bread or hush puppies - get the hush puppies). I opted to have my shrimp served fried and broiled with cocktail sauce. For my sides, I ordered the garlic potatoes (roasted potatoes with their garlic butter - like a shrimp boil) and fried okra with a side of ranch. My wife opted for the shrimp dinner with cole slaw (their slaw is closer to a vinegar base with a sweet taste) and the garlic potatoes. We waited a little longer than we expected for our food and we noted that tables that were seated after us got their food before we did. Not sure if it is bc of what we ordered or bc our service was slow When we got out our food, it was well prepared and tasted great. Also, their portion sizes are generous and filing. Good option for a meal.
