Visited recently during the 4th of July weekend and although it was very busy at lunch, we got seated quickly on the patio. Menu's had food and liquid stains. Table top was clean, but lacked utensils, which we had to request. Service was quick, friendly and attentive. Food was good, but represents a pricey and confusing mash up of American comfort and European Bistro. For example, Escargot on a lunch menu in Murphy's CA, seems like a stretch. Went inside to use the restroom and was unimpressed with the worn out and dated interior. read more

Cute restaurant located in downtown Murphys that we decided to check out after a hike. When we first got there we had to wait a while before we got seated. They don't have a ton of staff so that probably explains the slow service they have at this spot. Moving on to the food, I ordered the duck salad and my boyfriend ordered the angus burger. The duck salad was one of the best salads I've ever had! The brie was soft and gooey which paired perfectly with the crisp apples and spring mix. The duck itself is a bit chewy but it still tasted amazing when the salad is all mixed together. I had a bite of the burger and it was also really delicious! Perfectly grilled and tasted great with the sauce on the side. They have a large selection of cocktails and they do it very well too. Came here for a special birthday dinner, because my husband loves the Duck salad. We got a table in the dining room, and we were the only ones there for awhile, which was nice! But, the service was not great, the waitress wasn't very attentive. I had to get up and fill my water glass and our guests at the table several times. My friend ordered a steak medium and it came out rare. The waitress even asked how it was and my friend said to rare. My husband's salad didn't come to the table until 10 minutes after our dishes were placed. This restaurant is one of our favorites, but tonight was a very off night. We were very excited to try this restaurant as it came as a recommendation from a friend. We first waited approximately 10 minutes at the outside hostess area to be seated even though there were many open tables. Once seated, we were given glasses of water. From what we could see others enjoying, the food looked good. Staff people just kept walking by us to help surrounding tables but ignored us. It was very strange- almost like we were invisible. We finally had had enough after sitting there for 30 minutes without being approached and actually got up and walked out. I cannot say I have done that before! Too bad for this place of business because my family of 5 was ready to wine and dine! I think it's worth trying, but hopefully they get it together because there were few customers and plenty of staff. No excuse for how we were treated. read more

If you have a large party make sure you make reservations well in advance then be prepared to be rushed out after your meal. My 60th birthday with my family of 10 ended up in disappointment due to the fact that they would NOT let us order dessert. We could get my birthday cake to GO! OMG! First time visiting the V restaurant and we were impressed on how accommodating the staff was. Ambience was nice, cozy and with good vibes. We have been to murphys every year for the past 4 years and this time we tried v restaurant. Upon arrival we were greet by 2 servers and the owner Heather. Let me tell you, if you want great service and people with great personality's this is the spot. Our food was delicious and had me waking up wanting the Brussel sprouts again. We loved this place so much we came back for breakfast and then ended up there a 3rd time in hopes of seeing heather and her great staff again for dessert and their amazing sangria. First time ever coming here, it was recommended by my boss. And lemme tell you, IT DELIVERED! The outdoor seating was so pretty and peaceful and quite busy for a Tuesday afternoon. My friend got the Pasta Carbonara, and it looked so good! She loved it! I got the burger with fries (upgrade to $4 which I never heard of) but the food was so good! The whole thing was a hit! Food was fantastic & so we're their drinks. One of the best espresso martinis I've had in a while. We sat outside which they brought an extra umbrella to our table. Our server was not the kindest... we had told her that my sister in law is lactose intolerant and needed the cheese on the side for the truffle fries which she disregarded but took care of it after we stated something. Our cocktails took a while for them to arrive to our table. When we asked the server to split our check she gave us a pen to mark up who's food was who's and then rolled her eyes at us. The server was really rude. I came in before the others and headed over to get a glass of wine. No greeting, no questions about who I was. He then went to the kiosk iPad where the reservations were. I went over and said oh are you work here? I couldn't tell he said yeah I said OK. I'm this party that I saw on the pad. I pointed at. It said I wanted I'm here early. I'd like a glass of wine. He tells me to sit down and and he would bring it to me. Then he never came back until my other guests arrived. Then he spoke to my brother-in-law only and when I tried to ask a question while my brother-in-law was trying a taste of a wine he wasn't sure he wanted the server shussed me! The chicken dish was bland. The mashed potatoes seemed as if they were from instant potatoes. There are many more great restaurants in our town. Don't waste your money here. read more

We were so excited to have breakfast at this restaurant. After being seated, within two minutes, they told us the table we were at was reserved and moved us to another table. However, the new table had bird droppings on the chair and utensils. I was shocked and couldn't sit down because it was so dirty. When I expressed my concerns, they didn't care, so we left and ate at the restaurant next door. Even after 10 minutes, no other customer came to the table we were originally seated at, even though they claimed it was reserved. It felt like discrimination. read more

They seem to have two entrances, I'm not 100% sure what's going on, but we used the entrance on the left where the bar is and the bar tender seated us immediately. We seemed to have arrived at the right time because 30 minutes later groups were being told 30 minute wait (it was a rainy day in winter so the patio seating wasn't open). If you only eat one thing, get the truffle fries. But getting them as a side with your sandwich would be good too. With dinner we had a couple cocktails and they were delicious! Everything we had was great, we'll be back for sure. P.S. - the neighboring table got brussels spouts that looked amazing and they said they loved them, so I'll be getting those next time too. read more

Food is great. People are nice. But whatever system the have going for seating, serving, checking on you, checking you out, IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. It makes no sense. On multiple occasions we have been left waiting for seating, been left waiting on a server to take our order, on being able to order something more, on being checked out. I'm not exaggerating, it's been 10 plus minutes or more for each of these. You feel forgotten. It's upsetting. There are servers coming out and ignoring you. Of not meeting your eye. I don't understand how a business can be run this way. I don't have all day to wait on your bizarre customer service. It's awful. read more

Let me get the one negative* point out of the way, we waited for quite some time to be acknowledged and then seated and there was nobody waiting ahead of us. But it was kind of weird and several open tables. Now to the good parts. Roger is an incredible mixologist. I'm not sure if two other gentleman that came by or owners but they were super funny and friendly. Several staff came by to make sure everything was OK even though none were our servers which was kind of nice. I had a burger and as you can see by the picture it's big! Tonight for dinner I was impressed here in Murphy's. Started off with a Huckleberry lemon drop which was pretty good considering I more often than not am disappointed with cocktails places they offer. Had fried calamari and shrimp. Can't go wrong here. Shared a winter salad consisting of spring salad, pecans, sliced apples, blue cheese and bacon bits. Tasted good and looked good. My main entree was scallops on a bed of lobster risotto. Scallops were perfect. Risotto had a good taste and elegantly displayed. Too full for dessert. This is a good place to dine. Nice cozy atmosphere. read more

Great food, great service, and impressive heat lamps for outdoor seating. Mimosa Flight ($18) - This came with 4 different types of mimosas, including pear, grapefruit, orange, and cranberry. I loved the pear and grapefruit because they tasted light and fresh. I wasn't as big a fan of the orange and cranberry which were a lot sweeter and tasted more like sugary bottled juice. 4/5 1/2 Lb Angus Burger ($14) - This was absolutely delicious! We stopped here for lunch, during a day trip to the area, while picking up a few shipments at a local winery. My other half and I split the truffled Mac n' cheese (with chicken added). Our main dish tasted great and was generously portioned (we couldn't finish it, even though we split it). It could've used just a tad more chicken, but that would be my only complaint. We each started with a cup of the loaded potato soup, which was hearty and nicely seasoned. I couldn't resist a specialty cocktail, I think called the Kentucky Girl Scout (which for some reason I thought might be a spiked hot chocolate); it is actually a cold drink, served martini style. It is Kentucky bourbon, crème de Menthe and chocolate. It was very yummy, but I'm now inspired to make a hot version of this!! We really enjoyed our lunch, and I'm sure we will be back. read more

Wow. What a great find. The ladies in the kitchen store next door recommended this restaurant, and we were so glad they did. The food was incredible. Best Brussels sprouts I have ever had. The salad was amazing. And the truffle fries couldn't be beat. Truly a great place. We also were happy to be present when one of the staff sang a beautiful Irish melody to a region local for his birthday. It was touching.
