Cute restaurant located in downtown Murphys that we decided to check out after a hike. When we first got there we had to wait a while before we got seated. They don't have a ton of staff so that probably explains the slow service they have at this spot. Moving on to the food, I ordered the duck salad and my boyfriend ordered the angus burger. The duck salad was one of the best salads I've ever had! The brie was soft and gooey which paired perfectly with the crisp apples and spring mix. The duck itself is a bit chewy but it still tasted amazing when the salad is all mixed together. I had a bite of the burger and it was also really delicious! Perfectly grilled and tasted great with the sauce on the side. They have a large selection of cocktails and they do it very well too. We were very excited to try this restaurant as it came as a recommendation from a friend. We first waited approximately 10 minutes at the outside hostess area to be seated even though there were many open tables. Once seated, we were given glasses of water. From what we could see others enjoying, the food looked good. Staff people just kept walking by us to help surrounding tables but ignored us. It was very strange- almost like we were invisible. We finally had had enough after sitting there for 30 minutes without being approached and actually got up and walked out. I cannot say I have done that before! Too bad for this place of business because my family of 5 was ready to wine and dine! Came here for a special birthday dinner, because my husband loves the Duck salad. We got a table in the dining room, and we were the only ones there for awhile, which was nice! But, the service was not great, the waitress wasn't very attentive. I had to get up and fill my water glass and our guests at the table several times. My friend ordered a steak medium and it came out rare. The waitress even asked how it was and my friend said to rare. My husband's salad didn't come to the table until 10 minutes after our dishes were placed. This restaurant is one of our favorites, but tonight was a very off night. We have been to murphys every year for the past 4 years and this time we tried v restaurant. Upon arrival we were greet by 2 servers and the owner Heather. Let me tell you, if you want great service and people with great personality's this is the spot. Our food was delicious and had me waking up wanting the Brussel sprouts again. We loved this place so much we came back for breakfast and then ended up there a 3rd time in hopes of seeing heather and her great staff again for dessert and their amazing sangria. Food was fantastic & so we're their drinks. One of the best espresso martinis I've had in a while. We sat outside which they brought an extra umbrella to our table. Our server was not the kindest... we had told her that my sister in law is lactose intolerant and needed the cheese on the side for the truffle fries which she disregarded but took care of it after we stated something. Our cocktails took a while for them to arrive to our table. When we asked the server to split our check she gave us a pen to mark up who's food was who's and then rolled her eyes at us. First time ever coming here, it was recommended by my boss. And lemme tell you, IT DELIVERED! The outdoor seating was so pretty and peaceful and quite busy for a Tuesday afternoon. We were so excited to have breakfast at this restaurant. After being seated, within two minutes, they told us the table we were at was reserved and moved us to another table. However, the new table had bird droppings on the chair and utensils. I was shocked and couldn't sit down because it was so dirty. When I expressed my concerns, they didn't care, so we left and ate at the restaurant next door. Even after 10 minutes, no other customer came to the table we were originally seated at, even though they claimed it was reserved. It felt like discrimination. read more

I went there last Saturday. The first and last time. The ambiance was nice, the service was okay. The Italian Stallion sandwich, not the best. Who expects that the salami will have the wax coating served on the cut meat?! Felt like biting through dental floss. Obviously an oversight (mentioned to the staff, of course.) Came for dinner and loved it so much we came back for bunch! They seem to have two entrances, I'm not 100% sure what's going on, but we used the entrance on the left where the bar is and the bar tender seated us immediately. We seemed to have arrived at the right time because 30 minutes later groups were being told 30 minute wait (it was a rainy day in winter so the patio seating wasn't open). If you only eat one thing, get the truffle fries. But getting them as a side with your sandwich would be good too. With dinner we had a couple cocktails and they were delicious! Everything we had was great, we'll be back for sure. P.S. - the neighboring table got brussels spouts that looked amazing and they said they loved them, so I'll be getting those next time too. read more

Food is great. People are nice. But whatever system the have going for seating, serving, checking on you, checking you out, IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. It makes no sense. On multiple occasions we have been left waiting for seating, been left waiting on a server to take our order, on being able to order something more, on being checked out. I'm not exaggerating, it's been 10 plus minutes or more for each of these. You feel forgotten. It's upsetting. There are servers coming out and ignoring you. Of not meeting your eye. I don't understand how a business can be run this way. I don't have all day to wait on your bizarre customer service. It's awful. read more

We had lunch at V Restaurant today and had a really uncomfortable and odd experience... We arrived and were seated inside at a cute 2top with a window overlooking the beautiful patio. We have dined here several times prior. Jenny was our server and was gracious, efficient and kind. Her tip reflected her excellent customer support and service. While we were waiting for our food, we noticed 15+ flies spinning in the window next to our table.. (gross..). Using my paper napkin, my husband and I were able to kill 10 of them... Heather was behind the bar and loudly reprimanded us .. in front of all the guests at the full bar and dining for "using her good napkin"... And notified us that she would not give us another...I responded that it was a paper napkin and she said they were expensive and plopped a stack of thinner napkins on our table while giving us words. When the food was good and Jenny was wonderful, we will not return to this restaurant. Heather should have been more concerned with the number of flies contaminating the restaurant instead of embarrassing customers attempting to clear them. read more

Started off with a Huckleberry lemon drop which was pretty good considering I more often than not am disappointed with cocktails places they offer. Had fried calamari and shrimp. Can't go wrong here. Shared a winter salad consisting of spring salad, pecans, sliced apples, blue cheese and bacon bits. Tasted good and looked good. My main entree was scallops on a bed of lobster risotto. Scallops were perfect. Risotto had a good taste and elegantly displayed. Too full for dessert. This is a good place to dine. Nice cozy atmosphere. read more

Great food, great service, and impressive heat lamps for outdoor seating. Mimosa Flight ($18) - This came with 4 different types of mimosas, including pear, grapefruit, orange, and cranberry. I loved the pear and grapefruit because they tasted light and fresh. I wasn't as big a fan of the orange and cranberry which were a lot sweeter and tasted more like sugary bottled juice. 4/5 1/2 Lb Angus Burger ($14) - This was absolutely delicious! We stopped here for lunch, during a day trip to the area, while picking up a few shipments at a local winery. My other half and I split the truffled Mac n' cheese (with chicken added). Our main dish tasted great and was generously portioned (we couldn't finish it, even though we split it). It could've used just a tad more chicken, but that would be my only complaint. We each started with a cup of the loaded potato soup, which was hearty and nicely seasoned. I couldn't resist a specialty cocktail, I think called the Kentucky Girl Scout (which for some reason I thought might be a spiked hot chocolate); it is actually a cold drink, served martini style. It is Kentucky bourbon, crème de Menthe and chocolate. It was very yummy, but I'm now inspired to make a hot version of this!! We really enjoyed our lunch, and I'm sure we will be back. read more

Wow. What a great find. The ladies in the kitchen store next door recommended this restaurant, and we were so glad they did. The food was incredible. Best Brussels sprouts I have ever had. The salad was amazing. And the truffle fries couldn't be beat. Truly a great place. We also were happy to be present when one of the staff sang a beautiful Irish melody to a region local for his birthday. It was touching. But it was kind of weird and several open tables. Now to the good parts. Roger is an incredible mixologist. I'm not sure if two other gentleman that came by or owners but they were super funny and friendly. Several staff came by to make sure everything was OK even though none were our servers which was kind of nice. I had a burger and as you can see by the picture it's big! Wow, we were in food heaven!! Every bite was exciting, bursting with so much flavor, that we're dancing in our chairs. Dinned 2-11-2023 To start we shared the calamari and shrimp with spicy aioli. Cooked to perfection with tender bites of deliciousness!! Every bite was yyyyuuuuummmm good!! We also shared the roasted Brussels sprouts with (real bacon and blue cheese on the side) drizzled balsamic vinegar!! Oh, so good and both dishes were a generous portion. Main course my daughter had the Chalian Seabass. Oh, my gosh it was so good, cooked to a perfect consistency that flaked off with ease and melted in your mouth. It was drizzled with a light apricot glaze, served with coconut almond rice and fresh asparagus. I had the prime NY Steak with carmelized onions and mushrooms, mashed potatoes and fresh asparagus! Every bite was a wow, oh my goodness and a dance in my chair!! Cooked medium and perfectly prepared! Not sure what was in the potatoes, but surely addictive!! If you're in the area for wine tasting, snow skiing/sledding, visiting the Big Trees Forrest or visiting White Pines Lake, stop by V's Restaurant, Bistro & Bar. You will not be disappointed!! We had dinner at the Fine Dining half of the business. Sat at a beautiful porch table under the ferns, enjoying a really pleasant evening. Our server was a kind southern (GA) gentlemen who promptly took our drinks, placed our orders, and offered us all kinds of fun meal enhancements (sauces, spices, his favorites for suggestions), and had good banter with us. We enjoyed him a lot, and everyone working there seemed genuinely nice. For drinks I had the Black Manhattan but with local HinterHaus bourbon - 10/10, and my husband had the hinterhuas bourbon neat - 10/10. Was fun hearing about the distillery in Arnold from our server and we plan to pick up a bottle on our way home. App was the fried Brussels sprouts- perfect and some of the best I've had. Portion could honestly feed 5 it was so large for an app! Catfish special was top tier. Every aspect perfectly done. Our waiter busted out a secret stash of jalapeño vinegar for the greens that added a nice kick that didn't overwhelm. Steak was Cooked a perfectly tender medium. I substituted the mashed potatoes for truffle fries. Fries were crispy and fluffy with the right dash of truffle. We were so full we got dessert to go: strawberry lemonade cake and peanutbutter chocolate bread pudding. Both were good, though would have been better at the restaurant I think. Cake was more lemon than strawberry (I would have preferred the opposite) and a little too much lemon syrup soaked thru the cake, which effected the texture. But it was a nice summery dessert. My pasta DuJour was grossly undercooked and guess what happened. Yes. Bloated stomach. The sausage was, in fact, overcooked and burnt, in the end, just chewy hard pieces floating in butter. Really bad. Really caused upset stomach. The antipasto salad looked like a pile of just leaves. Had to fish for olives there. Sounds super weird but it was the highlight of the meal! Stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon. Soooo good! Our main dish was the chicken and duck. Both were seasoned and cooked well along with the seasonal veggies. The wild rice was a bit lacking in flavor, but the ambiance of the house and service made up for it all.
