We used to enjoy going here with our dog multiple times but unfortunately the last time we were here with our pup they were completely rude and told us not to come back unless it was service dog. Its ok to let us know the policy but you need to be consistent and being rude is never acceptable. Customer service training is needed on how to work with customers. We wont be back. We were looking for something quick and casual for lunch, and pizza sounded good at that moment. We ordered at the counter and chose to sit at the second floor. Nice, chill place. While visiting Murphys, we were desperate to find a place that was still open (it was about 7:30 or so) and that had air conditioning. It was 100 degrees this weekend. Firewood showed up on our search, so we headed there. Unfortunately, three of us ordered nachos and these were just so-so. We were kicking ourselves for not getting pizza. Let me preference this that the food tasted awesome! We ordered a pizza and a smash burger. The burger came out 20 minutes before the pizza. Then I see them digging with their fingers in the pizza that they bring to me. I asked what was he digging out of my pizza and she said lemon seeds. OK that's legit but damn your bare fingers! No flavoring no seasoning, no topping, no nothing. The tablespoon and a half of meat in the taco is not worth the $3.99. $3.99 really isn't a lot of money....that says a lot about the lackluster flavor and presentation tacos. I give 1 star for the service. Th tie-dyed order taker was rude. She told the customer next to us to hurry up and make up his mind because there was a line. I didn't even have a chance to read the entire menu because I didn't want to be yelled at. Four of us were dining. Three ordered the fish tacos. Two ordered a side of beans. I ordered the chicken strips and fries. There was a basket of cookies by the register covered in plastic wrap without any type of label. I asked what kind of cookies and the man who I believe is the manager or owner said told us the types and said that they were the best cookies ever. I got a white chocolate - macadamia nut. The man who seemed to be in charge brought out 2 our orders, fish taco with side of beans. The beans were so cold that the cheese on top was still solid and not melted. They asked to have the beans reheated. Firewood does not have plates just plastic trays with parchment paper linings. The beans were watery but the cheese was melted. One diner said it was like they plopped open a can of beans and dumped some cheese on top. We then received our other 2 orders. The French fries were cold. The chicken strips were weird. It was like they fried up a chicken breast patty and cut it into strips. So there was breading on the top and bottom but not the sides. I asked to have the fries reheated and the man wanted to take my entire plate. I asked him to leave the chicken and take the fried, because I did not want nuked chicken. He made the comment that the cook would get mad because he already had to warm up the beans. Well serve food at the proper temperature and you won't have that problem. Anyway he brought out more fries that were fine. The 3 who ordered the fish tacos were disappointed because the fish seemed like fish sticks and the tacos were not very spicy. The tortillas did not seem to have been grilled. The restaurant was crowded that day. The tie-dyed woman yelled at other guests for moving chairs around. It's a nice place to gather with friends. Great interior and open seating, etc. However, I ordered a Pizza to take back to the hotel. Got a 1/2 Hawaiian and 1/2 Pesto Chicken. I asked for extra sauce, but didn't get any. When I got back to my room and opened the pizza, I found myself saying outloud to myself "This is a $30 pizza??" I'm disappointed to say that our experience at Firewood Restaurant fell short, primarily due to serious hygiene concerns. Shortly after arriving, we observed a staff member (a man with curly hair and glasses) bussing tables and then immediately returning to making pizza without washing his hands. I only made of this because he was handling the pizza without gloves and he was touching the pizza directly after removing it from the oven. We noticed the same worker wiping his nose with his hand and continued to handling the food directly after--again, without washing his hands. This was extremely concerning and significantly affected our comfort and trust in the food handling practices. The other staff that were bussing tables also would immediately return to cutting vegetables or making pizza without washing their hands. As for the food itself, it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't particularly good either. I ordered the turkey burger, which tasted fine but lacked flavor and was not very warm. The Caesar salad was probably the best item we had. Unfortunately, the shredded chicken on both the nachos and the taco was dry and had minimal flavor. Overall, while the restaurant is rated 3.5 stars, I would personally rate it closer to a 2.5/3 due to the food handling concerns and the lack of taste in the food. We chose to eat here largely because everything else was closed, but based on this experience--especially the hygiene issues--we will not return. read more

It was thin and limpy. 3.75/5 - Chicken Strip Sandwich: 2 strips in a hamburger bun with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and thousand island sauce. Came with a side of fries. The strips were quite hefty. The meat was tender enough and had a nice crunch. The fries were pretty good. 4/5 SERVICE: Service was a little slow but it was pretty crowded so it was understandable. 3.5/5 FINAL THOUGHTS: I may come back. I went here today to get Togo food and we waited at least 20 minutes for the food! Not to mention the lady taking my order had a terrible attitude and never smiled 1 time on top of all that the cheeseburger I paid 20 dollars for the bottom bun was already gone and was just sauce soaked and falling apart also the guy making the pizza was touching everything with his bare hands so unsanitary like have you never heard of gloves? After perusing the menu, we decided to split the Spicy Sausage pizza (Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Caramelized Onions, Green Onions) and asked to add pepperoni. No problem. We took our seat by an open window up front and waited for our pizza. We also ordered beer and wine....options are somewhat limited, but not bad selections for being so limited. My wine was served in a small water glass which I find sad. So the pizza arrives and the first thing I notice are the green onions are MIA. No worries - my husband is not a fan anyway and I was thinking the caramelized onions on the pie would more than make up for it. Boy was I mistaken. The toppings were sparse and dare I say flavorless. I have never had less spicy sausage or pepperoni that had no flavor. The one redeeming quality of the pizza was the crust.....dipped in the quite runny ranch, it was not too bad. Needless to say, lunch was somewhat disappointing. Did I talk to management - no. Would it improve the flavor of flavorless pepperoni and sausage, likely not. I ordered the pie so was not interested in getting my money back, but simply moving on and looking forward to dinner in our cabin in Cold Springs. Everything here that I have had was good. We had the fish tacos which came recommended from the staff and also the Sausage and Pepperoni pizza. Both were great. Fish tacos were crispy and delicious. The pizza was delicious as well. We wanted more marinara sauce with ours and the staff were able to accommodate. Beware there is a garage door that stays open to let air in so you will have flies that will wonder in but they are worth dealing with considering the amazing taste of the food. Solidly meh. We've been here three times now, and none of those times I would say we had a great experience. It tends to be very crowded during the day in the busy season. The food and customer service are ok-ish but not great. They do have vegetarian options which I am very thankful for. There are veggie pizza options, and they also have an impossible burger. The pizza prices are pretty expensive. $18 for a 12in personal cheese pizza. And the last time I was here I literally had to wait an hour for the pizza even though there was hardly anyone in there at 7:30pm on a Friday night in the off season. Not worth it. I won't lie, however, the menu confuses me. Pizza, burgers and Mexican food? This place is for everyone I suppose. It's even for gluten-free folks because they have both gluten free buns and pizza dough! I decided to to go with the chicken and pesto pizza because GF dough is pretty rare. The dough was more cracker adjacent, but still tasty. And the pesto and cheeses definitely hit the spot.
