Awesome company! Michael was so easy to work with - quick responses, thorough, very friendly. We rented the Toyota Sienna and had it for 10 days, drove it 1350+ miles with no issues and we enjoyed the flexibility it allowed us and the awesome value!! Comes equipped with cooler, gas stove, huge water jug, and misc plates, bowls, silverware and camping supplies (paper towels, tp, lighters, fire starters, wine bottle opener, lantern...) Definitely check before shopping for supplies.. we left some useful skewers and such for the next renter! Bedding was nice, came with standard cotton fitted sheet, flat sheet, a quilt and warmer microfiber blanket. Tons of storage under mattress, we also stowed our carry on bags in the center with no problem. Next time we are back in Portland and planning another camping road trip we will definitely be using them again! read more

The old lady and I were itchin for a walkabout and stumbled across these guys on the interwebs. We wanted to mob the "Oregon Backcountry Discovery Route" http://www.oohva.org, the route is pretty rough but when we called they set our minds at ease and informed us that contrary to colloquial wisdom the Previa was developed by none other than Ivan "Iron Man" Stewart and that our particular vehicle has won the Baja 500 a record 47 times. Well, we took delivery of our chariot the following month and set forth upon adventure. We felt like Lewis and Clark making the Kessel run in 12 parsec, but the hyperdrive worked flawlessly plus involved less portaging and/or cholera. Eating in the dining area kinda resembled that that scene in LOTR when Gandalf steps into Bilbo's house but oddly I discovered I kinda like feeling like a giant and regressed into eating my spaghetti with my hands while referring to my Apocalypse IPA as "Grog" (plus it had the added benefit as a defendable conclave against predators or gypsies). Sadly weather permitted the rest of our meals to be consumed in our camp chairs under Zeus's watchful eye. Bed was some space age super foamy thing crafted by magic gnomes, the furniture all folds into itself as if Optimus Prime got drunk and went slumming at IKEA. No complaints, these guys are top notch and we're already planning our next trip to Middle Earth or maybe the in-laws in Coeur D'Alene. read more

We rented a van from vagabond vans for 20 days of adventuring and mt biking! Michael was very accommodating and gave us a van with bars so we could attach our bike racks. The Previa van held up like a champ and had no issues, we felt comfortable taking it to remote areas and finding the best camp spots and bike trails! The oil light came on and I texted Michael, who called me with in 5 minutes (even though it was 9 pm) and let me know the oil had just been changed and how to reset it. The van is set up with spacious storage compartments, perfect for dry foods, clothing, and gear. It comes with a fold out table and two chairs. The fold out bed is very comfortable and there's plenty of storage for comfy bedding. There's also velcro curtains, that made so we could stop and rest anywhere without worrying about lights shinning in the windows. The back of the van is set up with a coleman stove, a 5 gallon container of water with a pump and pretty much everything you need to cook a good meal way out in no where. When you don't have money to buy an rv or a van of your own but you need to get out Vagabond vans are perfect! We couldn't have been happier with our van or their services! When I went to pick up the van, the tires were almost bald. They kindly offered to switch out the van for another after it was pointed out. My husband and I took "Van Damme" down to Tahoe and the Black Rock Desert. The Previa is a couch on wheels, and drives like a champ! The bed was amazingly comfortable, and the storage cubbies made our week long trip more organized. I took two stars off because I was verbally told that their return policy was to "just bring it back with the doors on." I did not receive copies of my signed paperwork, nor was I notified that I had to clean the vehicle prior to returning it. I got hit with a $75 cleaning fee, and a "we already got your money" kind of response. The positive is that we loved the van so much we bought our own to trick out. I would still recommend them for a rental, but make sure you read the fine print before you do. read more

We absolutely loved our experience renting from Vagabond Vans. We live in Florida and were planning a week camping trip in Oregon for the summer. We had been considering several van options that were close to $2k for the week, and out of our budget, when we were lucky enough to stumble across Vagabond. Booking was extremely easy, and when we finally arrived in Portland to pick up our van, the process was seamless. Michael was so kind and straight forward. The Sienna we rented was clean and had mostly everything we needed for a great week of park-hopping all around the state. We ended up stopping at a local Good Will and picked up the rest of what we needed (lantern, French press coffee maker) for less than $10. We found the van to be comfortable and easy. On one of our dirt road adventures a passing car kicked up a large rock that hit the windshield and left a sizable chip (ouch!). We had opted to use our own insurance for the van, so worried slightly about the process of fixing thru our insurance. Once we brought the van back to Michael and showed him the chip, he offered to bring it into the glass shop and take the cost of repair off of our security deposit (I preferred not to use my insurance for a claim and eat the rest of our vacation time with those logistics). The chip repair cost me $80 which I gladly paid, and Michael was quick and thorough with all communication around it. We hope to rent from VV again in the future and definitely will recommend to our friends for the value and comfort! read more

My friend and I took a Vagabond van to the Bimart Country Music Festival in August and it was the best decision we made (outside of going to the concert and the inflatable pool, it was hot!).... so much better than a tent! I'm not much of a camper so this was perfect because I didn't have to set up a tent, I had a comfortable bed, tons of storage for all of our stuff, clean water (thanks to the water tank), camping chairs, and when we left to go to the venue, everything was locked up, safe and sound. The best part though.... When it came time to leave, we just threw everything back in the van and took off! No need to break down a tent etc. From now on when planning a road or camping trip, I'm taking a camper van! All in all, great experience and would totally recommend them to anyone. I rented the Toyota Sienna van, and it performed wonderfully throughout our 1500-mile trip. I dented the passenger door and was apprehensive about returning the van, but Michael was kind and even went out of his way to help me get my own car started so we could get home. He made the filing of an insurance claim easy and even offered to mail me a bag of clothing I had left in the van. I recently rented a little van and bedding from Vagabond.. I took a lift from the airport to their location .. Around 30.00 with tip . Michael met me with the van ready to go .. I had rented bedding and was a bit worried as who knows what you could get and I do like clean soft bedding and pillows. With much joy I can say it was fab.. A super soft blanket and quilt , sheets , pillow cases and two bamboo pillows .. All smelling and feeling soft and clean . Michael went through the use of the little kitchen , camp stove , large full water bottle , various pans and cooking utensils , even a nice one cup drip coffee device. Two chairs and NEETO folding table. The van was not new but that was not a concern of mine , I did care about how large and soft the bed was .. And that was more than perfect for me .. I also really appreciated the Velcro on black out curtains. I drove to the mountains and camped for seven days and enjoyed it more than my recent trip to a five star hotel. I believe you get up to 150 miles a day to drive but I mostly stayed in my camp. The entire experience was very fast and easy to facilitate ,, the communication spot on , very nice people . THE PRICE IS AMAZING !! It is hard to rent a car for that price. Michael started the refund process for the deposit within a couple minutes of my return. And sent a receipt to my phone as we talked . I did giv the little van a clean and wash , and he was very pleased. It does take three business for banks to process . My fiancée and I had been lamenting our lack of Oregon exploration, and trying to plan a good way to have some adventures, when along came news of Vagabond Vans: The perfect thing for a west coast road trip! We booked one immediately, and plotted out a simple route headed south along 101 to the Redwoods, then up through Ashland and Crater Lake. The van drove wonderfully and the AC thankfully worked well, despite some questionable noises it made when running. While the tape deck was sadly broken, we made do with local radio stations along the journey. The white, not-yet-decaled van - which we affectionately named Ghosty - and its amenities worked out better than expected, with a comfy bed and plenty of storage. The price was right, and we couldn't have imagined a better vehicle to take us along this fantastic trip. Service from the renters was great and having the van picked up from our house was a nice touch after returning from a long week on the road. Highly recommended! read more

I like the idea of these vans. But the reality was not what I expected. The first one I had had over 250k. When it broke down after one day they gave me a replacement with 315 K. It took half a day to get the replacement which put a real crimp in my plans. I really was not comfortable taking these vehicles out of cell phone range. I've been considering buying a camper van for quite some time but had never actually gone camping in one. The winter in Portland has been particularly cold, long, and wet this year, and tent camping was proving to be less than ideal and even a hazard to my health. With a Google search, I found the Vagabond Van website and was excited to see good reviews and reasonable prices, considering how much it costs to rent a regular van from Enterprise, Budget, or Avis (without a roof rack). When picking up the wheels, Michael at Vagabond was kind enough to give a thorough tour of my temporary accommodations, after which I wandered the Olympic Peninsula in this reliable old-school Toyota rig for four days. It was an all around wonderful experience with the perfect kitchen setup and back hatch to protect from pouring rain when cooking. The numerous wooden cubbies built-in under the mattress helped organize all my camping supplies and led me to realize just how wonderful it would be to have a camper van packed and ready to roll someday. The only thing I would do differently in the future is have a memory foam topper ready to prevent a little lower back pain, but I'm not a spring chicken anymore. Hope this helps.
