Stuffed Mahi - Mahi Etouffee Special
    Mahwish S.

We came on a Monday evening about an hour before closing. The restaurant was not that busy, maybe 3 tables occupied. Our dining experience was good and the food was tasty. They have a few different flavor profiles going on but they all seem to work. They do offer complimentary bread and butter, and have different happy hour specials during the week. For an appetizer, I ordered the crab cake appetizer that comes with two cakes and salad. I was very surprised at the size of the crab cakes! That basically could have been a meal by itself. I ate one so I could have room for my entree and I loved the lemon sauce that came with it. The flavor was yummy. Hubby the soup of the day which was like a crab bisque, which I got to try. It was creamy and a little on the sweeter side but also tasted good. For my entree, I ordered the stuffed Mahi Mahi. It comes with dirty rice and vegetables. I asked the waitress if I could sub the dirty rice and the only option she gave me was the Alfredo fettuccine. I was fine with that, but could not understand why substituting rice with the pasta would also take away my vegetables. So I had to pay an additional $10 to get a side of vegetables and I didn't like that. The portions of the entree are very big. Honestly, me and hubby could have split my whole meal and had been full off the one appetizer and entree. The stuffed Mahi was good and the sauce on it had a good flavor. The side of vegetables came with a trio of steamed broccoli, Zucchini that was sautéed in a sauce, and carrots. The waitress failed to explain that the carrots were actually a carrot puree. It was sweet and tasted almost like a sweet potato mash. It wasn't what I was expecting but surprised that it tasted so good. Everything individually tasted amazing, but I would not say that the flavor profiles are cohesive. Overall, it was a good dining experience and I left with food to still last me two more meals. I had the rest of the pasta with my crab cake for lunch the next day, and ate the rest of the fish and vegetables for dinner.

We showed up early on a Sunday for lunch, and we had the place to ourselves. I got the cozumel style fish. It was really good. Our waitress was very attentive. It was nice that it was quiet because we planned our vacation while we were there! I'd definitely come back.

Best kept secret on Route 1. Excellent food & service in a quaint, idillic location. If your looking to slow things down a bit, and enjoy a great meal (TEXAS SIZED PORTIONS) this is the place to be!

Stopped in to give it another try again. I'd describe the experience as "ok". Nothing great by any means! The service is barely there. Not friendly at all. Just honestly meeting the bare minimum of service. The food was subpar. Yes, the portions are huge as described in other reviews but having a big portion of blah food is just a lot of blah. Our drinks were good! We just won't be back. Such a shame too because this place could be great if they tried just a little harder! I'm sure my updated review will garner a "funny" response from staff and owners but hey, if you present quality, FRIENDLY service then the bad reviews will actually be funny.

Bathroom 5/5: Average Dining Area 5/5: The dining area was average what I really liked was the bar area. It had a antique feel to it. It wasn't much to look at but as a tip the tables with a view of the water offer the best sunlight for a selfie :) Customer Service 5/5: Dianne if you're reading this you're awesome keep up the great work! Food 5/5: Let's talk about the food y'all omg. The blackened tilapia and shrimp lunch special is FIRE ! My picture doesn't do it justice. You'll just have to check it for yourself. I've had a margarita or two at this restaurant before and I probably should've stopped after the first one lol Price 5/5: $$$ If anyone knows me well enough by now, I'm okay paying more for quality food. However, yes there food was a bit pricey. The taste made up for it and there rice and carrot tasted better than anything I've made at home. Vibe 5/5: I went around lunch time and it was hardly anyone there. So this is a perfect spot to escape the hustle and bustle or catch up on some work while eating. The music was at a reasonable level and there were different channels on the TVs throughout the restaurant. Plenty of parking space around the back. Overall 30/30: This is a great spot.

He checked on us often. The bourbon pumpkin smash had just the right amount of sweetness. The hot bread and butter was great. I ordered the shrimp scampi. I appreciated the spinach and tomatoes. It was a lighter dish than I expected but turned out to be perfect for a warm night. It was lacking flavor but adding generous amounts of salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese made a big difference. My companion had the tropical crab salad and it was fantastic. Refreshing and flavorful. The whole, sliced avocado was a nice touch. And it was just a vibrant looking dish. We sat outside and a gaggle of ducks kept hanging out with us. I thought it was cute (minus the duck waste), but it was a bit much for my companion who doesn't like birds on the least). All in all a lovely time during my visit to TX.

We had a party of nearly 30 people, and there were two other large parties in the same dining room, and it wasn't crowded. Great room for a group event! Windows all around, nice scenery of the marina and trees. This dining room also opens up to a large patios overlooking the water, trees, etc. It was a really pretty. A piano player played live music as we dined, took photos and took turns sharing kind words about the birthday girl. All of that was the best part. The service was just okay. I'd give it a 6.5/10. They were timid and didn't move quickly. What I did appreciate is that they had two main servers plus two floater guys who just kept refilling water and bringing bread and straws. These guys were the real superstars. The food... eh. I took out my Yelp menu vision and read the reviews, and nothing really seemed like it was going to be good. I settled on the Oysters Rockefeller and a cup of gumbo. The oysters came out hard and dry, but we'd waited so long that I ate them. 5/10. The gumbo was just so-so. 5.5/10. Everyone around me said the same thing. Someone got the loaded shrimp scampi and set it back because it was completely tasteless. Others got the shrimp and grits and other entrees. When asked about how they were, everyone said, "Ehhh, you know... it's all right. Not that good, but not terrible either. Just okay." That was the consensus across the 30-person group. BUT there were two items the ladies said were actually good: the wedge salad and the salmon. Those who chose those items had a great meal!

And for my first time, this was a really great experience! First the negatives. The time it takes to get your food is extremely long and the place even on a weekday is still packed (personally, there was someone at another table constantly bumping into me). But if you can get over that, this place is absolutely insane. The fish dishes we got had the largest fried fishes I've ever seen, the fried batter was so light and airy, and the flavor of the fish was just extremely fresh and well made. I prefer the cod to the haddock due to its cleaner taste and more break apart texture, but both are really good. The shepherd's pie I got was also really good, with a lot of different spices and filling with a really nice and light crust. The only dish we got that I was a little bit skeptical about was the fried shrimp, which was good, but nothing too too special. Last two things. Our waitress was SO nice and very welcoming. She made the long wait not feel like an issue on her part, but rather just the cook time for our meal. Lastly, the sticky toffee pudding was absolutely elite. So rich and moist, as well as perfectly sweet and nicely portioned for around 2 people. An excellent cap to this overall incredible experience.
