This place is extremely inviting and creates the vibe immediately from the moment you stop outside. The fajita beef is SO GOOD this is definitely a must get if you're eating in the restaurant since it is so hot and tender when it comes out on the sizzling platter. In fact, most of the dishes are good. The appetizer we got (I believe it was the Nachos Compuestos) was not my favorite, since I think the ratio of frijoles to everything else is a little overwhelming, but it was still good. The only thing I didn't like from the large amount of food we got was the fish taco. It was just kind of dry and fishy. Not very good or fresh tasting at all. I hope this was just a fluke and it usually tastes good, but it stands out as by far the weakest dish on otherwise great meal. I was actually a little skeptical of this place and thought it would just be like any other Tex-Mex. And in some ways it is. Lupe Tortilla - Kemah Review There are restaurants where the meal begins the moment you walk through the door, and there are restaurants where the welcome feels like an invitation to reconsider your life choices. At Lupe Tortilla in Kemah, our host was gracious and welcoming. We asked if we could sit at the bar, and we were happily shown to two seats. So far, so good. Then came the bartender. She greeted us with the sort of expression usually reserved for someone who has just backed into your car in the parking lot. Plates and chips were tossed onto the bar--technically within the vicinity, though apparently not within reach. We were then asked if we wanted drinks. We ordered a dressed draft beer and a 50/50 Rita. The beer arrived beautifully cold and perfectly poured. The margarita, however, was roughly 90% frozen and 10% margarita--the precise opposite of what we were hoping for. It wasn't exactly the warm beginning one hopes for when settling in for dinner. The food may yet have a chance to redeem the evening, but hospitality is part of the recipe. And when the first course is indifference, even a good meal has a little climbing to do. read more

I have given the location at least 4 tries and I'm constantly disappointed. Typically sitting at the bar ensure better service. So, I will preface this by saying I love Lupe's. Eat it frequently in Houston area. Saw the reviews were weak in Kemah but figured it can't be that bad.... I was wrong. First off why would they be watching cartoons at the "Bar" .... because the Bartender said that's what she likes?. Next the food I get the Fajitas every time. While they are Very expensive, each time I get them I say it was worth it because they are delicious. Well these came out not sizzling in a bowl of liquid with a raw pepper on top. It was pitiful! I also inquired about the chunky salsa that I am accustomed to, and the server had no clue. I'm still not sure what that's about. Long story short, I paid my bill and tipped in full, then when walking by the kitchen I said it may be worth mentioning to the manager. After standing there for a few minutes watching him on his cell phone he went into the office back there. Wasn't worth my time. Believe the reviews!! It is that bad! Lastly let this sink in.... Came in for Lupe Tortilla brunch and unfortunately left pretty underwhelmed. I ordered the carne asada and eggs, which sounded great on paper and even came out on a traditional fajita hot plate and honestly, I love a good sizzling fajita presentation. But that ended up being more of a downside here. The hot plate kept cooking everything long after it hit the table, leaving the steak and eggs overcooked and drying out fast. Flavor was pretty minimal overall, which was disappointing given the dish and the hype. Also ordered the biscuit and gravy but that was also overdone. Too tough to really enjoy, although the gravy did have some good flavor. Service was... a bit odd. Nothing outright rude, but our server seemed to struggle multitasking with our group of six, and things felt disjointed and slow even though the restaurant wasn't busy at all. There were hardly any other tables in there, so it was confusing why things were so weird. Prices were okay, nothing outrageous, but for the experience and food quality, it didn't really feel worth it. Not terrible, just not great and probably not a brunch spot I'd rush back to. read more

I went to a LT years back in Houston and really loved their chicken quesadillas. So, remembering how delicious it was, I convinced my husband to visit this one on the way back from the beach. We ordered online for a pickup. I ordered the chicken fajitas and my husband ordered something else, which I can't remember. We txt the restaurant to let them know we had arrived, 10-15min passed and heard nothing. My husband went inside to let them know that we had been waiting outside and the guy told him, "We didn't get a text." {rolling eyes} Got home and ate our food which included queso. Honestly, we were quite disappointed w the service and the food. The food barely had any seasoning and tasted bland. I had a horrible time here yesterday. The Restaurant had a bunch of open tables and we had to wait for about 30 minutes. Then we got seated in a super cold area and we ordered our drinks. We were eating lots of chips and salsa and it took about 15 minutes to get our drinks. My daughter said her mouth was on fire so I went up to the bar to get us the waters we ordered with our drinks and when I stood up, a guy hit me in the head with a tray. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and seated right away, no wait at all, which was a great start. A delightful surprise was when the manager stopped by and brought us a complimentary fajita sampler platter, such a thoughtful touch! We chose to sit on the patio, which was pleasant and relaxing, perfect for enjoying the experience. First time going to Lupe Tortillas & it was amazing. I am SUPER picky when it comes to Tex-Mex/Mexican food so I'm not passing out 5 stars for anything. I went there because it's where my book club was meeting, so they have a room off to the side away from the main dinning areas. They also have a nice patio area. The building is beautifully thought out, from the small details to the divided dinning spaces. The waiter Jillian was nice & very attentive. The food was amazing, we went during breakfast so I haven't gotten to eat their dinner menu but I definitely will be back too! The only recommendation I would have is to have some pictures of the food on the menu because the description doesn't do it justice. The portions are big, my friend got the blueberry pancakes and they were HUGE, she literally shared them with several people & still had some for a to-go. This location has been opened for a year and it's embarrassing slow not even embarrassing it's just bad . The staff here literally takes there sweet ass time when your in a rush and they know that your in a rush they take there time on purpose just to piss ya off . The food here is good just not always the warmest or freshest because you're waiting forever for your food . And it's not even that busy for the staff to go to other tables expect yours . No wonder parking was easy and getting a table but the wait time for your food aw hell nah . So yay at least there's something other than nothing to eat but it's not worth the pain in the ass staff they were some what nice decently nice at least . First time, the staff was a bit slow and inexperienced, both Second and Third time were exceptional. This time, we joined the waitlist online before arriving and only had to wait about 10 minutes, even though the courtyard was packed. The hosting staff was warm and welcoming, and they seated us in a cozy booth. Our server quickly brought chips, salsa, and a delicious side of beans to start--such a nice touch! This past Friday my husband decided to have dinner with his family for his 40th at this newer location. We got there around 630 and not many people waiting. When we told them we would have about 25 people the manager looked at us and just said "ohhh it's going to be a really long time". We knew with our bigger party there could definitely be a wait. He told us 2hrs. We told them we don't mind having multiple tables to accommodate us. After about 35 min they told us our tables were ready. Once seated our waitress was very rude the whole time. We were all nice to her knowing it was a big party and we were definitely patient with her but she continued to be rude and roll her eyes. We had one table left that we were waiting for the last two people in our party to arrive. The manager insisted that my sister in law pinky promise him no one else was coming, what?! They gave away the table to someone else and made us squish in to fit. The food was good as usual but the customer service was awful! read more

There is no way this place stays open. Nose bleed pricing. Fajitas for one is 34 dollars. For 8 oz of meat. It was not sizzling when brought to the table. Beens and rice is cheap. Food at any Lupe's is great! This was our 4th visit to this restaurant since opening. The unfortunate side is the wait and service. After arriving at dinner rush with a decent sized group (7), the wait was 50 minutes (which I anticipated). The server was great at customer service but clearly having several tables it was hard to keep up with our tables needs for refills and food delivery. The FOH manager was helping, but coordination of the overall service was missing as we didn't get part of the fajita setup until halfway through finishing food. All in all we spent 2.5 hours at this restaurant, and fine with spending over $200 for the meal; but having good service coordination would seriously improve the experience. My family said the food is the reason we go back, not the service. But don't go here if you want to be 1 to 1.5 hours for dinner. Hello, I never post on social media until now. Lupe Tortilla is one of my favorite places for fajitas. I was so excited about the new restaurant in my location next to Marbella subdivision in LeagueCity, Texas. The soft opening was bad. Maybe next time? Second time was worst. I love the Bay Area Blvd.,location and the Cedar Park location on the way to our lakehouse in the Austin area is the best. I gave it some time for them to get it together. Third time is a charm. Tonight was unbelievable! My wife and I sat at the bar and waited 10 minutes for the dirty dishes to get removed from the previous customers. Finally, we were greeted and took our drink order. When our drinks finally arrived. We asked to order. We are not stupid. After a long while we asked for chips and hotsauce. Then even longer we asked for silverware. After a hour and a half we asked for the manager. They said they would pay for our drinks. We said, no thanks. We'll pay for our drinks and we are out for good. The End!!! read more

I wish somebody would've written a review like this before I visited. They are still working out the kinks, it took about 30 minutes from the time we sat down to get our food, which came out cold. I ordered three tacos, ground beef, the shells were split down the middle so everything came out when I picked them up. Didn't have high expectations trying this place because it is a chain restaurant. But was pleasantly surprised with the food quality. All that we had was very good including the fresh tortillas made just right. To me a real test of a Mexican restaurant is the quality of their beef fajitas. If prepared poorly or overcooked, says something about quality of their meat dishes. But their beef fajitas were done just right. Also the interior is very fun and festive. Looks like a good hangout place. Only observation to be aware of, the wait staff were very good and pleasant when helping you but they are in no hurry to come around. We were there mid afternoon. Not a lot of customers but a lot of wait staff standing around. Their pace of service is noticeably slow compared to most restaurants. We will definitely be back, but don't go unless you want to be leisurely about dining. read more

This was our first time to try this new location off of TX 96 in Kemah. We enjoyed a great lunch by trying the The Pablo Patron, and the Chicken Lupe Del Mar plates. The latter dish was very good, but I was expecting it to be accompanied by a few whole shrimp in the sauce on top. Instead, it had a few little baby shrimp pieces in the sauce; still good, but not quite what I expected. My partner's Pablo Patron plate was very good; she proclaimed it as having the best cheese enchilada she has every had. Overall, this new location has a great atmosphere and great service. However, I noticed that their "Taco Salad" is not really a taco salad. It comes in a ceramic bowl, not a real taco shell. And their menu is sorely lacking some good combination plates. Save yourself the trouble and go to the Bay Area location. My friend and I met there for dinner and waited 2+ hours for food that never showed up to our table. When I first walked up to the hostess stand I explicitly told her that we would be a party of 2 with one highchair. She said great it's going to be a 10 minute wait. Okay fine. Once it was time to sit, tell me why the hostess brought us to a table without a highchair. My friend had to wait with her toddler in her arms until a high chair could be found. Slightly irritating but whatever. We ordered a Mac and cheese and appetizer first. Then about 15 minutes later our waiter took our order for our entrees -or so I thought. We waited for 1 1/2 hours for our food and by this time the kid was tired and pitching a fit. I asked our waiter to go ahead and bring to go boxes when it's ready so we can pack it up and leave. He kept saying it's plated already but I'll bring you boxes with it. Tell me why if it was plated it took an additional 30+ minutes to get our food. The manager came by and noticed we had been there for a while. Yeah no shit... everyone around us had food. When we finally got the to-go food I received no offer of comp for any of it.
