I love Vallejo's and have been coming here as long as I can remember... this location has been around for some time, that all my friends and family patronize often. Every visit is nostalgic. Having pitchers of margaritas on the patio or dining in the newly updated and renovated interior, eating at Vallejo's family Mexican restaurant is always a vibe. The food is so good! Home cooked goodness any day of the week. Friendly, family owned and a Sacramento institution that deserves nothing but love and respect. I usually order the Beef chili Colorado plate which is tender and perfect. You can taste the freshness of the slow cooked beans which are refried and topped with shredded cheese. The rice is full of flavor and perfectly compliments every dinner plate. My son loves their huge burritos and my mom enjoys the chicken fajitas the most. If you're looking for a local family owned restaurant that offers nothing but the best, with a clean kitchen and awesome owners, I recommend coming here as soon as possible. Enjoy!

This is a pleasant spot with good service. I ordered the fajita dinner with steak - thought the steak was a little well done but the sides were good. Love their very crunchy chips. Paid $20 corkage fee for one bottle of wine. Parking is 1-hour paid street parking readily available, the area is mostly residential.

    Chicken enchiladas lunch special

It was surprisingly empty during lunch. So of course, service was great. Our waitress was very attentive. The restaurant is casual and cozy but has ample seats. Their prices are very reasonable and the food delicious. They have several items to choose from on their lunch specials and you can opt for 1 or 2 entrees. I had the chicken enchilada, while my other friends had the mini taco salad and flautas.

Food was ok. Not something noteworthy in my opinion. The only item I really liked was their guacamole. I was excited for the steak plate I ordered. Meat was not as tender or as flavorful as I was expecting. To be honest I was disappointed with my order. Service was excellent. Ambiance was cool. Bathrooms clean. Parking seems not bad however it's street parking. Not sure if the area gets busy to make parking challenging.

When you go to Vallejo's, you go for the ambience, the beautiful decor inside the restaurant, the delicious food and the great customer service. This restaurant is clean and there are lots of seats. There are a lot of options on the menu for meat lovers and vegetarians. Their chips and salsa, which is complimentary with every order tastes delicious and fresh. During my visit, we were offered a refill since we devoured the first basket of chips and salsa. There's paid for street parking right outside this restaurant. This can be done through the app or on one of the parking machines. I highly recommend you check this place out for breakfast lunch or dinner. You won't be disappointed.

    Longanisa taco alacarte

Great authentic food with pretty decent portions at an exceptionally good price. Parking is easy on the street and there was never a wait when we were there. Super friendly servers were efficient and helpful especially on drink refills. The longanisa taco was the bomb and the nachos were literally overflowing off of the plate.

I've been coming to this restaurant for many years, both for lunch and dinner. The staff are always super friendly, the food is consistently yummy and abundant in portion, and the restaurant is always clean. I love this little gem!

Vallejos completes the Sacramento eateries - this spot has a very standard, you-know-what-to-expect Cal-Mexican food vibe. I got my usual tester dish, hard shell chicken taco, and it was good. Very full and with all the usual fixings. Pretty decent sized restaurant. Family owned.

Highly recommend this place! Service is friendly and top tier! They treat you like family once you walk in! Good amount of seating and beautiful artwork on the walls! I had the Chilequiles which were full of spice and flavor. Excited to comeback and try other dishes. The service alone is a reason to return.

Wanted to get breakfast with the guys, so we stopped by. I ordered the mole chilaquiles with carne asada. The dish was delicious and the service fast! All of us enjoyed our meals. Great hospitality! Clean restaurant, great decor! I always come here whenever I want to have authentic Mexican cuisine, so I wanted to share my experiences with my friends. We will be back again soon!

This was our only snap as we were too busy eating!

This review is for Vallejo's catering division. We had their meal last night at an event in Stockton for the first time. We were impressed first that they made the drive, next that they put on a superior meal, complete with attractive serving area, and many options. They had an wonderful staff that were friendly and even came around to our VERY large event group and asked each if he or she would like a refill of tortillas (who does that? Vallejo's did!) They refilled the chips and salsa as well, just as though we were in a restaurant. KUDOS to these folks!

A few months ago, I had weekday lunch at Vallejo's. It's a family owned and operated restaurant serving up authentic Mexican food. They are located in the corner of 4th and S Street in downtown Sacramento. The one item lunch special is $8.50, two $14.25, and three $17.50. Lunch special served all week up to 4pm. And after 4pm the only thing that changes is that the price for one item increases by $1. It comes with beans and rice. They also serve complimentary chips n green salsa. The salsa has a lot of flavor. Nice consistency. My faves are the shredded beef taco, pork tamale, chicken enchilada... who am I kidding... I think I've tried almost every menu item and haven't eaten anything I haven't liked. The tacos are served in a crispy fresh fried shell of your choice of corn or flour tortilla. The enchilada sauce is darn delicious. This location opened in 1992. But it gives off modern vibes. No trapped in time warp here. But what has stayed consistent is the delicious food, welcoming vibes, comfortable atmosphere, and attentive customer service. Another thing to note is the parking is metered street parking.

We finally had time off again on a Sunday to come and enjoy thier yummy Sunday Brunch…read more Everything tasted amazing! Wish I could eat more I would of tried more dishes. Last time we were there I thought I was able to get just plain tortillas from the tortillas lady spot. But she looked confused then I asked for a few flour tortillas. She asked what meat I wanted to make street tacos. That's fine the pork tasted very good. But I like plain tortillas with the eggs and other dishes. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. I guess next time we will ask the server. We started with the omelets this time. Very good and well made. We tried many things, hard to take pictures. It was very busy and carrying a plate didn't work well when taking pictures.

The portions have been cut in 1/2 for a lot of menu items here over the last 5 years namely the chimichangas but seems like everything else too. The chimichangas used to be twice the size they are now and were loaded with cheese. Now they have no cheese and 1/2 the filling so there mostly flour tortilla now. Very disappointing and the plates they use now are smaller, they used to serve the food on these huge platters. Anyway went there last night (1st time in 3 years) and this is the plate I got. The 2 chimichangas are now the same size as the tamale on the other side of the plate. The service was terrible too. We did not get our food until almost an hour and by the time the food showed up we were full from the chips and bean dip and salsa wich by the way we had to wave them down several times as we seemed invisible to refill the chips and our drinks. We wont be going back again for probably another 3 years. I highly recommend Felipe's in Citrus heights on Auburn blvd. Way better value and the food quality is on par with el tapatio but with five star service!

The restaurant had great energy and a fun, buzzy atmosphere. The crowd was a lively mix of people from the Capitol, couples enjoying date night and moviegoers grabbing dinner before or after a show. Unfortunately, the service was lacking during our visit. One of our meals was forgotten and we had to flag down the server to let him know. Our server also wasn't around very often, so it was difficult to get refills or ask for anything we needed. When we requested a specific number of to-go boxes, we weren't given enough and had to get up and ask for additional boxes ourselves. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but I took away 1 star for the lack of service. The service could definitely use some improvement, especially since it wasn't busy when we went. I hadn't been in a few years…read moreand had really been craving their food, so when we had tickets to a show this past week I wanted to take my girlfriend there beforehand. It's always been a busy place and sometimes hard to get into before a show, but the service was always great. This time we sat outside, which actually had a really nice view of the Golden 1 entrance. Our waiter was really nice and courteous, but it was pretty obvious he was doing the job of about three people. He did the best he could and stayed friendly the whole time, but when you're spread that thin it's hard to stay on top of drinks, food coming out, checking on tables, etc. We didn't really hold that against him because it seemed much more like a staffing issue than anything he was doing wrong. One of the things I've always liked about Polanco is their carafe of Palomas. We ordered one at the bar and then another at the table. When we got the bill, we noticed an extra charge for four cups. After looking at it again, we realized that after paying $48 for a carafe, you're also being charged for the cups you drink it out of. That is honestly one of the most ridiculous charges I've ever seen at a restaurant. I've always really liked this place, so it was disappointing. Being short staffed is one thing, but that's a management issue, not the waiter's fault. Charging people extra for cups after they just bought a $48 carafe of cocktails is just wild. This review does not refer to their food, ambiance, decor or staff. Unfortunately this has to do with under staffing (managing issue) and now charging for CUPS
