What a beautiful location! We really enjoyed our peaceful lunch at Yellow Deli in VC. The staff were all friendly and provided samples of some of their mate beverages for us to try so we could decide easier. The sandwiches we ordered were pretty darn good, on homemade bread as well. If you are into natural settings and amazing food, the Yellow Deli is for you. This restaurant is settled into an alcove with majestic trees and lots of visual interest. It is remarkable in its lack of ostentation. Simple buildings, simple food. I had lunch there recently with three girlfriends. We all ordered something different. And, we were all very pleased. I selected their Rueben sandwich- the best I have ever eaten! Yellow Deli has another location in Vista, which I am looking forward to trying. Highly recommended. I've been going here for years.. but couldn't let this one go. Their food is decent and clean . But! My gosh they're so fricken slow in getting your order and preparing your food?!?? I kid you not! When you dine in, you'll get your food like in 40-60 min ??? Whyyyy??? I called once and ordered to go. I asked the female how long would it take for my food to be ready for pick up. She told me " 10 minutes " I asked again. How long(?) she repeated herself " It'll be ready in 10 minutes " omg I drove over and waited an extra 28 minutes?!!! What annoys me is WHYYYYY LIEEEE?!!! You'll lose customers if you're not honest. Another issue , you're in the food business right? Have some decency to advise cleanliness amongst the people accommodating the customers. The male who gave me my "to go" order had THICK black dirt under each single fingernail(??) it threw me off so bad. Than he handed me napkins & utensils as well. Sorry I couldn't find the stomach to use them. At least have them cut their nails and maintain clean nails. You're in a restaurant handling food. Now it makes me think about the people preparing the orders ... whether they have the same personal hygiene and is touching/ preparing all the food(?) Driving up to Palomar Mtn we stopped by The Yellow Deli for a quick bite. When we first walked up we got looked at a little oddly but we were very kindly greeted and seated on the patio with amazing scenery surrounding us. The location was quiet and peaceful. Amazing service we felt like a member of the family, the food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was absolutely amazing. Me and my wife ordered the Reuben and the Vista which were tasteful and the cinnamon roll which was perfect and warm. We also got the mango mate, green mate, and mocha mint mate which were all fantastic and refreshing. 10/10 would come back. read more

The southwest chicken sandwich was very good with thin sliced chicken vs. a big breast which can be tough or overwhelmingly chickeny. One word to the wise...you have to come with plenty of time. We stayed at Valley Center . What a cute little place so many sitting areas indoors and outdoor With lots of yummy healthy bread and juices, tea and scrumptious sandwiches. The choices were not many so it made it easy for me to choose. Sometimes it can be overwhelming when you have so many choices. I definitely recommend you stop by for a yummy bite in a cozy Spot at the yellow deli. I had the Ruben my husband had the Del Rose and a bowl of their chili. If I get a chance to stop by again I definitely will try something different. We called in our order and they had it ready within 15 minutesfor us to pick up. Absolutely such a precious place! It's a lil hidden treasure that my friend and I motorcycled thru the mountains for - and the trek was worth it! The outdoor patio is so earthy and cute. It was cold outside so we ended up sitting inside - and it was so cozy and warm - everything was made out of wood, which looks like they made the furniture themselves. But the food was amazing!! Organic and made from scratch! As you can see from the menu, they have a lot of stuff - but we heard the sandwiches were the best. My friend go the Chipotle Chicken Santa Fe sandwich and I got the chili. Both came with the freshest baked bread that was so buttery and delightful! Everything was so filling! I'm a local here and I came to eat here with my wife and had to wait 45 minutes for our orders, meanwhile when we asked for water which is supposed to be "Palomar spring water" but it ended up being tap water. Not to mention the food was absolutely OK at best.. definitely not worth the wait. The workers were a little weird too and they give creepy stares as well... The sad part is all the locals around here on lilac say that yellow deli is bad, we don't understand why it's so highly rated when the service is bad and food is just ok. Though the food was good, I object to paying an extra $5 in order to split a sandwich with my 100 yo mother. And they didn't split it up on plates, we did! So it costs that much for an extra plate and napkin? Very disappointed as we are frequent visitors and have never been charged before. Had a great lunch in the countryside experience at the Yellow Deli- a place which I was informed has internationals locations that includes my other home country of Australia. I was also informed that a lot of the produce was from the accompanying Morning Star Ranch which is a Commune where the staff live. The outdoor seating of the Yellow Deli is very pleasant. I tried the Ginger Turmeric Juice which seemed a lil pricey at $11 but was very refreshing. I saved some for the next morning. My group order included the Cranberry Cashew Salad, Deli Rose Sandwich (a fav with yelp reviewers) and Waffle with fruit. Overall, everything was good sized portions, tasty and refreshing. Pricing was decent and surely supporting the Ranch and Commune. This location tends to be less crowded than the Vista one but not always. I enjoy the Vista Special which is an all vegan sandwich. It comes with a side of veggies or chips and a pickle slice. I really like getting the hibiscus cooler it is delicious and refreshing. On my last visit I was informed that the chocolate chip cookies are no longer vegan as the carob chips contain dairy. The PB cookies are nearly vegan except for the honey (contain no eggs or dairy). The sourdough breads are all vegan except for the one with cheese. Great place to stop and grab a bite! The food was so good ! It all tasted very fresh and healthy because their ingredients are all home made/home grown I believe. I got a turkey swiss sandwich on a kaiser roll with a hibiscus cooler as my drink. To top it off I got a cheesecake all AMAZING. The people there were all friendly and welcoming. The food is all organic, grown on their land right next to the restaurant so it tastes nice and healthy. That's not a taste everyone likes but I really enjoy the Yoga Vista Special (sandwich). The land here in Valley Center is absolutely beautiful and they have seating outside which is great for social distancing in COVID times. The only thing is that they are a little slow on making and serving food so don't come if you are in a hurry, or order it to-go an hour ahead of time. Also if you plan to come here, make sure they are open; they are often closed on unusual days or closed for an entire month at a time because of their religious beliefs and holidays.
