We realized after our first night that the spot was not going to work for us, it was too small for our travel trailer and large truck. We went to the onsite office and asked about changing spots. The three ladies in the office didn't hesitate and immediately went to work looking for a larger spot for us. They did, spot #104. And not only did they allow us to move, they didn't charge us the difference for the remaining 3 nights. Customer Service is alive and well here at Escondido RV Resort! First time at this campground, we were here in March to scope out but it was snowing hoping that by…read morethe time we head in April the snow would be gone, and it was. Upon reading other reviews regarding about poison ivy, we didn't see any at the time but just be careful, there wasn't any bugs when I was there (April 26-28, 2024) but if you're planning on going after April, bring bug spray and mosquitos spray or candles. The campground that we reserved online was number 28, but number 29 was more secluded and privacy. It was close to the restroom which has showers on the other side BUT if you're planning on showering at night, bring a head light or a flash light, the light doesn't work in there. The handicap shower wasn't working, can't add coins and the door is jammed, you gotta pull the handle up and it only has one lock working. Bring extra toilet paper, the ranger or host wasn't there at the time and bring your own hand soap too. Shower does have running hot water by the way. There wasn't any signal for t-mobile, didn't really used my phone until we got up to the observatory which had free wifi and cleaner bathroom that has toilet seat covers. Purchased a pin (See pic). Would come back again, it was about a two hour trip to get there.

The other toilets are dry toilets). - 1 of 4 toilets not working - overgrown weeds at some campsites - firewood not sold at this campground (general store has some for $6.99) Pros ~ - surrounded by nature at it's best - site #29 had great shade, sun too depending the time of day. - site #29 a couple of trees good for a hammock - spigots throughout the campsites - hiking trail to the observatory - reasonable camping fee - paved road and parking pad - general/gift store not far away - vegetarian restaurant next door to the general store - Palomar Observatory nearby (hours 9am-3:30pm) Don't forget to bring: Bug spray, citronella candles, a binocular, telescope and a hat that has material that covers your neck and ears. The hat is for the summer days to protect from the sun rays and gnats and mosquitos. Remedies for poison oak. Things to keep yourself and the kids entertained, for this campground solely offers hiking trails and natures beauty for you to enjoy. Lastly, a positive attitude. You are in the middle of nature and it's elements. My experience: Campsite #29 I came here based on a friend who did a solo camp here and suggested it to be a good place. She came during spring break so water filled the creek as to when I camped, some creeks were dried out or you could hear or see a trickle. It was hot, so flying bugs such as gnats and mosquitoes were present and sometimes they would disappear for a period. Bring your bug spray, candle and hat. The camp host even had a bug zapper paddle, too funny! Because I arrived on a Sunday, late afternoon the campsite was quiet. I'd say maybe 5-6 campsites were in use. So it was quiet. There were two trees at my campsite perfect to set up my hammock. The Oak tree has a large base so I would bring a total of 3 straps to use for one hammock. I had my changing/shower tent. I used it as both this time since I wasn't pleased with the looks of the shower. Plus the camp host told me that the showers (coin op) were thrashed from the July 4th crowd. Parts were broken, and repair orders were still waiting to done. On a hike with some of my friends and their dogs we did encounter a baby snake. We're assuming in was non venomous as we looked from a distance. It was hard to determine because it was on top of leaves. Just below my campsite, a slight slope, there is a creek. You could hear the water trickling. You had to peer through the trees and shrubs to actually see it. I didn't not attempt to go down the slope, looked very tricky. This is were my night visitor greeted me one evening as I lay on my cot looking up at the stars. I sat up and turned on my headlamp to see a raccoon. I got up and it backed away slowly. I peeked down towards the creek and I saw a baby follow behind. So the water will attract critters. So these are some of the important things I thought I should mention. I would love to come back and experience a campground full of campers, Happy Campers that is, but I did enjoy the quiet very, very much. Enjoy!

Good amenities- laundry room, pool, jacuzzi, lots of families and friendly snow bird couples. Friendly grounds- maintenance staff (Gardner) Cons- really tight spots, trains over night running close with horns, really unfriendly office staff - there was an older women maybe in her 60s that told our daughter she couldn't ride her bike in the empty spots. These spots were empty the entire trip and I was able to watch my disabled son while keeping eyes on her. The woman took it upon herself to tell her ride somewhere else and not discuss it directly with us. When my husband confronted her, she told us to read our bi- laws. They were not in the bi laws. She kept going around looking for citations on campers - very miserable woman. Just know if you're going to camp here she's likely going to try to make your time miserable. Someone please take away her assistant manager push pin someone gave her. She's clearly chasing business away.

The kids had fun looking for sand piggies, shells and sand dollars while wading in the shore and playing in the sand. I took a long walk from the beach side to the marina side where they had a little jetty you could walk out on and I was able to do my son's senior pictures. The restrooms were decent and clean, lots of stalls, space with nice toilets (not those stainless steel ones at city parks) plus showers with hot water! There is also grass hut looking gazebos, a laundry facility and a playground on the beach. My only complaint would be there was a lot of trash on the beach including glass bottles and while my kids were digging, they uncovered a bunch of beer cans! Send out the junior marines to police the area.

Definitely recommend getting a beachfront view cottage. It was nice to explore camp Pendleton and visit local eateries in Oceanside on the marina. The cottages were one bedroom and one kitchenette in a small living space. The kitchen was equipped with dishes enough for four people. The only thing that I did not enjoy, is that no matter how much you clean there will be sand everywhere considering you are right on the beach. You can say that this might be glamping on the beach. We stayed one night in a marina view cottage and was able to watch some military training early in the morning. The next two nights we stayed in the beachfront cottage and woke up to the view of the beautiful beach. The beach is very clean with soft sand. It was hard to believe California had such soft sand that you would normally find on Hawaii.

The "Enchanting Blueberry Farm" it is called - and behind that name are actual blueberries! First of all, finding this place was an adventure, due to the lack of a real physical address. You have to locate this place with the help of a GPS. There are two actual ways to get there: one is up a winding mountain, where you and your car will have to drive off the edge to get there (Nah, don't do it! Just back the vehicle up, just like we did, and take the other route!); the other will be provided to you with the help of Ron's maps and hand-drafted directions (it's that adventurous!), which will take you through a small town called Rainbow near Fallbrook. It only took us about 1.5 hrs from San Diego city to get here and once you reserve your spot on their website, Ron, the owner of this camping site of a beaut (He is a very busy man who you may not see very much of; but if you do, he is nice and will come to greet you and make sure that you are happy), will e-mail you the instructions. Now, onto the rest of the details: I could not believe the warmth and friendly welcome by the family that runs the farm! It was unbelievable - like I was taking a trip to some friendly island where people put a wreath of flowers over your head to greet and welcome you. Instead of getting that, you get a handful of plump and delicious blueberries lovingly propped into your hands. All of the family members, including the kids greet you with a friendly handshake and tell you their name. This was no gimmick, rather a heartfelt welcome. I almost wanted to cry. I don't remember the last time I was treated this way while away on a trip. Wow. The area is a beautiful rural area around the mountains, so the weather is bright and sunny during the day and nice and cool at night (the way camping weather should be *wink*)! You will see the farm family's house and then lots of trees in a blueberry "vineyard" when you first drive up. Then, you drive to your camp spot, passing scattered orchards of oranges, lemons and other trees featuring unusual, yet delicious fruits! There is also a farm garden with some banana trees, raspberry bushes and some chickens and a rooster. Mr. Rooster will wake you at the break of dawn :) We stayed at the Banana site #3. the ground here is of dirt and provides a softer base. Building your tent on top of this soil will harbor funny surprises of moles that come out of their holes to rustle the floor of your tent while you are sleeping. You get all the wonderful sounds of nature at night, from the ground moles (or whatever they are), peacocks and the coyotes howling away at dusk. lots of space available for you to enjoy some privacy from other campers and a little tinkle on the ground at night, if you don't make it to the toilet room! The amenities are a bathroom situated alongside the farmhouse with a toilet and shower. The downsides to this is that there is only one on the site and that there is no warm running water at the time. But the cold water was fine for a quick shower. Also, the bathroom needed to be maintained and cleaned. There were some cleaning supplies there and a broom and a water hose, so I cleaned periodically during my stay. I like that recycled materials were used to make the toilet/bathroom. There is also clean, running water at most campsites! Here, you can go hiking, enjoy the fruit on the trees (try the caterpillar berries - yum!!!) and hear legends about the area from the kids who live on the farm. They are so helpful and will assist you in any way! There are also fire pits on the sites. So much more could be said about this place but, I just loved it here and would love to camp here again in the future!!

It does have a rec room but it hasnt seen to much activities for awhile. Which is a shame because its a very nice area to have a BBQ or play pool with some friends. The people that we have met are pretty much like us, very helpful and friendly. Has very nice nature walking area and close to the kit carson park. We have been in the management business for over 20 years before retiring and believe me its no picinic trying to please all your tenants and keep a smile at the same time. I really do like this park and would recomend it to anyone that wants a place to park their RV and have double space of what you have in some of the "RV RESORTS" such a higher price amount.
