When I refused to pay it, they gladly accepted one month deposit. Once you rent from them, you will experience intrusive behavior with them needing to inspect your rental every month or so including Christmas Day. When you move out, you will not see your deposit again. They are notorious for withholding money. Toward the end of my lease they suddenly wanted to increase my rent by $500 which is illegal also. When I refused to pay it, they raised it by $250 instead. The rental I had was roach infested when I moved in, the three dressers had broken handles and missing drawers, the couch was broken, the cutlery wasn't clean, the faucet in the guest bathroom room didn't work and they refused to fix it until it almost overflowed one time when a friend of mine got it to finally work and couldn't turn it off. The staff of Pali Kai also spy on you each time you come and go from your unit with the on-site security camera. They don't like you having guests or friends over to visit and they email you to tell you how often your friend visited you. They would not let me begin my rent on the first of the month and told me I had to start my rental agreement immediately and pay a pro-rated amount in which there were 8 days remaining before the first of the next month. These people are desperate and use every manipulative tactic out there. True con-artists at best. Beware of Bob Jilek and Josh Guthrie in particular. They are the rudest people I have ever dealt with as far as landlords. Renting from them can turn you off living on Maui for good.

The day after booking and paying for this property we get an email from Patricia requesting another almost $500 or she will cancel our booking! We contact VRBO who tells us not to pay because she has a legally binding contract with us for the price that we paid since we had already paid. They say they are contacting her and everything will be worked out. Well four days later Patricia cancels our rental now we are searching for another rental with even slimmer pickings in Maui for Christmas. After reading other reviews I'm so glad we aren't staying in anything under her management. She is running a scam trying to get more money after entering a contact with paid customers.

On July 31, 2025--just before the realty office closed--I received an email stating that my reservation was canceled because the owner decided to renovate. When I called the office immediately to ask about alternative options, I was shocked by the treatment I received. The representative I spoke with, Jessica, was rude, unprofessional, and completely unsympathetic. She raised her voice, told me they "aren't making any money," and insisted I shouldn't be upset because they were "just doing their job." When I reminded her that she's in customer service and should be more understanding toward someone whose vacation had just been upended, she told me it wasn't her fault and offered no help or solutions. This was an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience. The lack of notice, the timing of the cancellation, and the unprofessional response made it clear that customer care is not a priority for Bello Realty. I will never rent from Bello Realty again, and I would not recommend them to anyone planning a vacation to Maui to rent through them.

They have connections to all the trades and can get a plumber, handyman etc over to my property often the same day, which is critical to keeping up the level of service I want for my guests. They are personable and professional, a pleasure to work with, and charge far less than a traditional property management company. I recommend them highly to any vacation rental owner.
