Kyle, on my left, was a chill and lay back PTA. His manner of getting me to do things was gentle. Cody, on my right, was my OT. His manner was more matter of fact, we're going to get this done. It is interesting that with such different ways of dealing with the patients, they were both so successful in my improvement. I am forever in their debt. My life has changed and they are a contributing factor. The facility is filled with people who truly care about the patients. From the housekeeping staff to the MDs. They are all top notch. With that said, don't look to them for pity when you want to quit, they will help you to get your focus back on the goal of safely going home. Thank you to all of those who helped me along the way. I wear my decorated brace with all of you in mind.

I came here after my family convinced me to come in and meet with Scott. I thought I was going to…read moresee him by myself but my whole family was there...full on intervention! I have to say...as mad as I was initially that they tricked me, it ended up being the best thing that happened to me. It was a lot like the TV show, my family drew the line and gave me a choice. Scott was great. I could tell immediately that he's in this field because he cares. He was extremely understanding and so easy to talk to. He's been sober himself over 30 years so I knew he could relate. He helped me to see how I was slowly killing myself and how it was effecting my family. Scott sent me to detox and I came back about a week later and did the outpatient program. I came in and Joe was my counselor. What a phenomenal counselor and overall human being! He helped me overcome my alcoholism one day at a time. He has this saying, "I have today and I'm fighting for tomorrow" I lived by this mantra for the 92 days that I worked with him. Thank you Joe! The groups are great! Tuesday night was family night with Christine. Another amazing person. She is a counselor and therapist and really helped me reconnect with my family. Our communication is so much better now. I used to dread family nights because I was afraid of what my family would say about me but in the end I looked forward to them. Thursday night was men's group with Joe. I love men's group and still go to the group as an alumni. I think it's so important that we have a night where the men get to meet and deal with "men" issues. Saturday morning you get to choose between recovery and spiritual group. I went to the spiritual group that Joe and Sonya ran. Sonya is another amazing counselor. She really cares about the people she works with. I'm an alumni now and get to continue coming back as such for free as long as I stay sober. I come on Thursdays and Wednesday for the alumni meeting. This program saved my life! Literally! From meeting with Scott in the beginning, to Joe, Christine, Sonya...the entire Aspire staff! They are family now! If you're looking for help, give them a call! Don't wait! I still have challenges but like Joe says "I have today and I'm fighting for tomorrow"'

He really cares and invests his time in everybody that lives there. The houses are clean, there is structure, and accountability. There are house meetings and 12 step meetings on site which is convenient. I was able to keep my job and stay there while working on my recovery. All the people there are great, the staff and the residents alike. I had a roommate there who was really cool. I couldn't go away to regular rehab because I didn't want to lose my job but my marriage was on the rocks. I was able to live at the sober living and go to an outpatient program while I worked on my marriage. Now I am back home with my wife and kids and living a sober life. The houses are clean and it is very affordable. I will be forever grateful for Mark Smith and third tradition sober living. Thanks Mark!

The Third Tradition sober living community in conjunction with the Program Director Marc Smith have…read moremade a change in the lives of my husband and I that I will be eternally grateful for. My husband went to live there when things got out of hand with his addiction and he couldn't get it under control with out-patient treatment alone. It wasn't his choice at first, he wanted to convince me that he could quit at home and that me being a certified drug and alcohol counselor would matter. My experience in the field didn't matter though because my husband needed to be in a structured controlled environment with people who were invested in him differently than a person married to him. Marc and the rest of the community loved on and directed my husband until he embraced recovery. Month after month my husband chose on his own to remain in sober living even after exceeding the initial conditions that had to be met for him to come home. 5 months later he's still there and we are healthier and happier than we've been in 18 years. Each month I watch him grow more into the man I always knew that he could be. I see his self esteem building, patience I never knew he possessed, and the good in him coming out more and more. He's developed meaningful relationships there with the other men in recovery who I imagine will be life long. His roommate is a heck of a guy who we've enjoyed camping and fishing with. If you can't seem to get it together on your own or have a loved one that's putting you at wits end, I highly recommend that you give this place a shot. It sure has done the trick for us.

The following are things I noticed: All staff members seemed to have professional attitudes and work ethics, keeping busy either with the residents or in the facility. I saw no less than 4 persons cleaning: 2 washing the walls, one a toilet and one cleaning & disinfecting wheelchairs. I didn't see any lolly gagging or idle chit chat among themselves. The facility was not only clean but, they take time there to make it feel homey, not only with the bedding that covers the beds but pictures and, with Easter around the corner, they had decorations for that on each residents' doors & on bulletin boards in different places. Each resident has their own space in a closet, their own nightstand and dresser. They can have their own decor, bedding, etc. in their room. My MIL has a lift chair other relatives bought for her in her room. There's a very nicely kept patio for the residents to enjoy complete with patio tables & chairs & healthy looking plants & flowers-cheerful. Lunch smelled wonderful! And, it was a healthy, balanced meal. All in all, I highly recommend Westchester Gardens as a facility for your elderly loved one who needs care you can no longer give. They give the residents their meds on time, are open to questions & have a caring, professional, well trained staff.
