They missed the generous one month delivery window they agreed to. Then they moved the delivery window (in their computer) in an apparent attempt to avoid incurring late charges per their contract. At six weeks in, they no longer return calls or emails and have stopped offering excuses. Again, avoid this company at all costs--it seems they literally cannot deliver. I wish I could give minus numbers, or zero stars. A lot of smoke and mirrors. Will try to make this long story as short as I can. My realtor had heard of these guys and so I called up the person she knew who hooked me up with this company . I paid the extra and even bought my own plastic mattress cover because I thought if she knew this guy they must be . WOW! And there the nightmare begins! I had moved a lot of stuff myself because I didn't trust anyone with dishes and glasses and even rented a van to move a bunch of my stuff so they just really had to take the large stuff and clear out my storage that was a half a block away and about half full at most. They started with my storage and got it out really fast, but there seemed to be no real order or rhyme or reason as to where they put it in the truck. Next was my condo that was on the ground floor. The guys that showed up moved my furniture from my back condo to the street without the speed boxes that I was told was going to slide the bigger heavier stuff out to the truck. There were four guys in all, two which were about 4 feet tall. All the damage that was done to my stuff was NEVER pointed out to me, I had to find it myself! I can't tell you how many times I heard "oops" and then one of them would look at me. Everyone, but the main guy claimed they didn't speak English, but as soon as some of my less impt. jewelry fell out onto the floor from a nightstand I did not get to pack up yet (after staying up the entire night with one hour of sleep) one of the guys leaned down and grabbed ONLY the antique Mickey Mouse watch and then saw me standing nearby and quickly said in perfect English said, "is this yours?" Well, who the hell else would it be? If I wasn't standing right there I'm sure I would not have that watch right now and who knows what else I may have missed. Luckily, my better jewelry and things like that I moved myself thank God! They were supposed to wrap my furniture, and the only wrapping I saw was a thick blanket kind of put around some furniture but my very expensive Tempur-pedic adjustable frame had black ripped corners and I had to SEE that myself. I was so exhausted from days of round-trip moving in one hour of sleep and packing the entire night I could barely keep my eyes open. I had an electric fireplace with stones in it and they put it face down and the decorative white rocks slid all over the inside and scraped the glass. Because of how they moved at the remote control that was taped to it fell off and found it much later outside on the deck. They left a big heavy beveled framed mirror outside on my deck and this is in December... it was one of the little guys and he couldn't carry it to my storage shed himself and just left it! I couldn't carry it by myself, so it stayed out there most of the winter. They chipped parts of the frame which was perfect prior to that. They said they were going to put the stuff that was in storage into my storage in the backyard, but stuff that wasn't supposed to go back there was back there and vice versa. I bought them lunch, bottled water, energy drinks. After I saw the damage myself I made a damage report with the main mover guy who said his manager would call me and never did. I tried to look at what they did, and as it started to get dark, I couldn't find my bedding, which I found outside on the deck in back! I finally just found the remote for my electric fireplace (because of the way they handled it) it got loose from the tape and they left the fireplace inside, and the remote outside. I tried everywhere to replace it and couldn't, at least I got that back! I have no idea what else is missing or in the wrong spot and then they charged me $600 more than the quote. They offered me $100 for all of the damage and I said that was insane and they said you didn't buy insurance. They have a weird complicated mathematical thing that I couldn't figure out about the insurance so I called to ask how to do that and the man I spoke with told me "our guys are so good you don't need Insurance". I got them to offer $300 but they damaged way more than that. The mirror was $300, the fireplace was $300, and my Tempur-pedic adjustable frame was $1700 (which they made me go through everything and find the receipts after just moving) and then offered me $100! The head guy said they did not tell them to use the speed boxes to move my furniture so I had a couple of them about 4 feet tall, trying to carry a 300 pound bed! The company said they did tell them to use the speed boxes so who is lying?? And then the head mover that was the only one that supposedly spoke English told me that they jack up the price on people all the time sometimes at least $1000 depending on the move but give them a low quote so that they get the hired for the job. The whole thing was horrific at a time when moving is stressful enough! I would only wish them on somebody that I really REALLY hated!! read more

So nice and considerate. They carefully moved my furniture out of the way as needed and replaced it to original places and took exceptional care not to scratch my walls or hardwood flooring. Valley exceeded my expectations during my local move in Oakland. Tim Lonergan, the move coordinator, estimated correctly for the # of boxes and time that would be required, and stopped by to be sure the packing and moving were going as planned. One set of stairs is narrow and the crew went above and beyond to get a heavy sofa to the second floor. Toward the end of the delivery, they realized they needed more help, and Tim had extra help on call who showed up to finish the job. A few days after the move, I needed help getting a piece of fabric reattached beneath the heavy sofa, and Tim stopped by to get it done. AND NOTHING GOT BROKEN! My family has made many corporate moves, and Valley is more organized and professional than any we have experienced. read more

First and foremost, quite an UNPROFESSIONAL moving company. My major issues were: 1) They called me 2 days before my out-of state moving pickup date to say that they cannot find a driver (North American Van Lines is the actual hauling group they use). The actual pickup date was 4 days after that (when I was suppose to be in my new home out of state by then). 2) Messed up the count of boxes supplied vs packed - overcharging us when their own paperwork from their own packers clearly indicated what was actually supplied & packed. The only positive outcome was their packers did a good job. Bottom line, I DO NOT recommend this moving company, they are just too unorganized. Moves in general are really stressful for the family moving and not only did they not deliver our items on time with care, they did nothing from a "customer service" perspective to ensure they made things right. Our contact at this company is a very nice gentleman. The problem are the drivers/movers. The movers are very inconsiderate and unprofessional. Each time we use them there is always a schedule issues with our pick up time, which we never change. The movers calls 3 hours before our scheduled time, trying to pick up the shipments. Or they don't show up at all. No phone call nothing. Hopefully the owners will stop using this company. Please fire this crew. read more

Moved my office today and had a great experience with Valley Relocation. I was concerned about moving during the pandemic, but Ron assured me they would handle the move with everyone's safety in mind We booked the move just a couple of weeks ago and the people I spoke with were friendly and professional. It was a small office move within the same city. The crew arrived early and was ready to go at 8 a.m, as promised. Everything was loaded up in less than an hour and unloaded at the new location within an hour and a half. The crew helped us figure out the best layout for the new place and moved furniture a few times until we got the configuration we liked. I had, what was for me, a complicated move. I had to have a lot of items moved from Florida to California, some of which were very fragile and needed professional packing. I had no idea of how or where to start; do I contact a mover in California? or Florida? Who? How do I choose? A friend gave me Tim Lonergan's contact info at Valley Relocation and said he could figure the whole thing out, that's his job, that's what he does. Fast forward, the move was flawless. Tim arranged for the Florida crew to show up (and they were exactly on time), to pack (it was like watching a packing ballet, impressive), and to have the stuff shipped to my address in California. Everything arrived, every numbered box and bench and chest, on time and in perfect condition. The estimate I received was nearly spot on, the final price actually came in a bit lower than the estimate. I honestly never thought this whole move could be done so easily but when you work with people who know their business and know what they're doing it's not that complicated. These guys were great. The only reason I am giving this one star is because I have to give it something in order to write this review. In August 2016 we contracted with Valley to pack up our belongings at our home in Alamo and take them to their storage center in Benicia. The packers did a good job and we were pleased with their work. We were renovating a home in Pebble Beach and needed Valley to store our goods for approximately 10 months. In June 2017 I notified Valley that we were ready to receive our goods and arranged for delivery. Six days before the delivery date I received a call from our agent, Tim Lonergan, that there had been a "problem", that because of the heavy rain that winter some of our goods were damaged. Notice this is June and this is the first we had heard of this. I arranged to go to the warehouse, with my insurance agent, a couple of days later. I cannot describe accurately how devastated I was when I walked into that warehouse that must have been 90+ degrees. Because the goods (which were in huge wooden crates) had been allowed to sit there for months in hot weather, mold had grown on virtually 70% of the goods. Destroyed were sofas, chairs, antique rug and pine table, photo albums, art, clothes, kitchen goods (anything metal had rusted), etc. The two warehouse guys just stood there and had no answer when I asked why they had not removed the goods when they realized they had been flooded. No explanation was ever given to us by Valley. We never received any communication from Tim Lonergan or Gaylynn LaVenture. Because we had a great insurance company we received a fair settlement. But the money cannot replace the photos or the anger and sadness we felt, and still do. read more

This was our third major relocation, and the second cross-country move. To add to the complexity, we needed to store a large number of furnishings to effectively market our Bay Area home. Danica visited, offered an estimate, and assured me storage would be no problem. A crew came and removed furnishings and some art pieces for storage; the guys were thoughtful and helpful, and offered me tips for the packing I was doing myself. Months later, a different crew came for final packing the day before the van arrived, already loaded with our stored items. The van traveled to New York state promptly and unpacked efficiently. #TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Not a pleasant experience, do not patronize this business. My husband and I used them to move our A/C . After confirming the night before with Ron that we were ready for a morning pick up I felt confident they would perform. At the pick up point we were there to meet the guys to pick up the A/C unit on time the following morning at 9 AM as confirmed with Ron the previous evening. No truck showed!!!! The lack of communication from Ron from this point was unacceptable and very unprofessional as he gave us the run around for hours. He told us the crew and truck were on the way at 8:30 AM. He had not a clue! The truck was out on another job and completely missed us. Meanwhile we had a moving facility owner yelling at us to get the unit out of his warehouse at once as he was being evicted. This was a very stressful time and Ron did not confirm at this point if we even were going to have a truck come to us. He wasted our time away from our own jobs and ended up costing us hours in frustration. It was clear Ron had no truck to do the job regardless of my confirmation the night before, Beware!! 4+ hours later with no where to go the truck finally showed up around 1 PM. They kept us in the dark the entire time. The warehouse manager at the pick up location where we stored the unit was very angry to say the least. We had a deadline to deliver the unit by 3 pm with a planned crew. Leaving 6 hours for a 2 1/2 hour drive I felt was enough padding. Their delay caused us even more stress as we had to accommodate people on the delivery end that were going home at 3 pm. We felt during the process we continually had to accommodate Valley Relocation when their job was to accommodate us. Upon delivery at 5 pm, they finally arrived with our unit. The moving crew was great! Super knowledgeable! The problem exists with the dispatch crew and Ron the sales guy. All went fine with the crew until the driver drove too fast out of the driveway upon exiting taking down two lines, phone and internet. During this time we have remained calm but are extremely disappointed in the lack of response from the company for our unpleasant experience. We understand these companies are not perfect but their day cost us $1360 to move a heavy A/C to a facility 2 1/2 hours north of Oakland. The day should have been over at 1 pm max but it wasn't over until closer to 7 pm. In addition to that, their company caused destruction on our property upon exiting. When we called, the Vice President "Pete" doesn't even recall our last conversation with him, says he will call back and never does Etc. We think you might be getting the picture now. We have tried following up hoping they would provide a discount/credit for our inconveniences Etc., but no response. We would not recommend this company to anyone! As local business owners and professionals in this community, we will also be contacting the BBB. read more

I wouldn't recommend these movers to my worst enemy. They were prompt to come out and give an in person estimate for my cross country move. Their price? Competitive, not too cheap, not too pricey. They were courteous and responsive to my follow up calls. But once they had us in a contract they were far less responsive and hard to deal with. But that's nothing. They couldn't come to pack and load until the day after we left. (convenient, eh?) With my parents as our agents, they had their driver inform us that the packing was "more than they thought" and that it would cost $500-$800 more than quoted. A week later, with our stuff en route to our new home, I get an email saying that we will owe then $1200 more than quoted! This becomes a he said she said problem and I'm sitting here worried if our stuff will get here and, if it does, in what condition. Never use this company. Shiesty! read more

I was very Happy with the folks at Valley Relocation. I moved from Walnut creek to Benicia a few months back. I was a little worried because I had a ton of stairs at my old house and my furniture is very large. It was no problem for my movers, they just picked it up and away they went straight into the moving truck. They completed the move with in the estimated time and nothing got broken. Let me start by saying I would never recommend this company. Put all the other relocation companies' names in a hat and pull one at random. Your results and satisfaction will be better that way than if you choose Valley. My wife and I had moved with North American before when we moved from MA to CA and had a good experience. So when it came time to move back we thought nothing of using North American a second time. Unfortunately, our experience could not have been any different. The original sales call was prompt and the estimate seemed fair. We scheduled the move about 8 weeks in advance. The packers arrived to pack the kitchen the day before and they had no idea what they were there to do in spite of my being very specific with them during the selling process. They did not bring the proper materials (they forgot to bring a box for the plasma tv) and did not leave us the proper paperwork which of course we did not know at the time (we foolishly assumed they knew what they were doing). The next day the movers came to pack the truck. They were quick and efficient in moving but again they could not find the right paperwork and said we had lost it. After tearing the place apart looking for it, it turned out to be inside the metal clipboard they carried the whole time. At one point, to get something out of the closet of one of the bed rooms they took off the closet doors. They never put them back on again (we didnt notice them until just as they were leaving the parking lot and when we called the driver's cell phone, they did not answer) and we were charged a small fee by the apartment to put them back. We talked to customer service about it and they promised they would send someone out but, as we would discover is routine, they did not do as they promised. My sales rep, John Harwood, told us it would take an estimated 7-10 days for our stuff to arrive back in MA. It ended up taking 21 days! My wife, 18 month old daughter, and I lived out of a suitcase for three weeks while we tried to figure out what was going on. Valley became extremely unresponsive. Every time I talked to them they claimed they would get right on it, and find out what was happening. They said it with such conviction but it was empty promises. They would always promise to "get back to you today" and would invariably fail to do so. It was like a bad joke. The online tracking tool showed nothing for information about where the shipment was. Valley began promising compensation for the inconvenience and now, two months later, we have received not a single dime in compensation. The service rep I was working with mysteriously left the company and we are starting from scratch. read more

This firm is a disaster. This was the delivery service that Weaver Furniture decided to use to deliver a media cabinet to our home. First they said they would deliver on Thursday. We told them to bring a small truck since we live on a narrow road (which has not been a problem for moving companies, other furniture delivery firms, UPS, Fedex ect). On Thursday they arrived and could not get up the road. Instead of calling to find out a solution, they returned to their warehouse. After repeated calls, they promised to delivery between 10am and 2 pm the following day. They did not show up. After repeated calls they said the could deliver it to the end of our road but we would need to pick it up with our own truck. We agreed, but they still refused to deliver it on Friday, refused to let us pick it up at their warehouse with our own truck on Saturday. read more

Don't use them. My condo was water damaged and we had to have everything moved out immediately. The remediation company contracted Valley Relocation to move everything out. They came and seemed to do a very good job of taking inventory and numbering everything. We had a steel bookshelf with 5 glass shelves on it. We wrapped the shelves ourselves in paper that they provided. I didn't notice at the time but they listed them as "pictures' on the inventory. When our possessions were returned a few months later 3 of the shelves were missing. I didn't notice at the time of delivery that they were missing because the movers just kind of threw everything in our house. Valley Relocation refuses to pay for the missing shelves. They also damaged the wheels on the steel bookcase so I'm probably now going to have to just trash a great bookcase. They also broke a few other things that I had. Bottom line, they don't care about anything but getting your money out of you. No customer service at all. They made a bad chapter in our lives a lot worse........ read more

BEWARE! This moving company agreed in writing in advance to a specific cost for its services; but, after the move it demanded substantially more until threatened with complaint to the PUC, Further, the company's movers caused damage to several of the goods moved, and failed and refused to pay for those damages even after one of the company's senior management independently discovered that further damage. After the move, the company created a fictitious inventory of goods moved that substantially differed from the inventory created on-site by its own employees (apparently, an attempt to cover up damage it knew had been caused). Management was substantially non-responsive even in the face of its independent discovery of further damage to more of the goods moved, and failed to follow through on its promise to rectify the situation. I've decided to use them for my move to Midwest. So far John, the sale rep and Celia at the office have been great. John gave me an estimate and explained all the charges and fees upfront. Celia sent me a contract to sign with a bit of delay in correcting my name and destination address. And just speaking with him reduced our moving anxiety: We knew we and our stuff were in good hands. They were loaded and on the road before we even knew it. Follow up from Celia has been excellent. The price I have paid is as per contract: No last minute charges so far. We know when our stuff is going to reach, and are getting regular updates from Bob and Celia. We are very pleased with how the moving going so far. Our stuff arrived on time and Bob was great ensuring all the boxes fit in the storage unit with lighter boxes kept on heavier boxes, and tunnels for us to be able to access each box. He also offered us brown paper and tape to cover our furniture that was in the mover's blankets earlier. Bob has been just amazing. read more

Do Not Use Valley Relocation / North American Van Lines!!! What a horrific experience! We were promised truck to take us 1000 miles from Danville CA to north Idaho at 9 am early June 2015. Small truck showed up at 11:30am to take our stuff just to Concord and were told "in few days we will get a driver" and they will "reload and take your things". Not enough room in little truck for our Stuff but told by Valley Relocation management "another truck will be at your house soon". Other truck never comes and same guys who did first load had to unload it and drive back and load rest! Needless to say we did not make our hotel that night and Valley Relocation refuses to pay for another motel in Bay Area that much more expensive for us. Told by Valley Relocation they found "another driver" several times but again no driver. Took almost three weeks to finally get our stuff. The guys doing the actual work did a good job with what they had to work with ; it's the management and terrible communications from management!! Again : DONT USE THESE GUYS!!! read more

Valley Relocation trashed my brand new mattress and box spring......Valley Relocation in Concord California destroyed them and now will not pay a refund. DO NOT USE THESE movers....they are extremely unprofessional and total scam artists....when they came to the house to pick up the mattress set the drivers did not even have mattress covers....instead the used shrink wrap to cover the mattress....they said it was just for the short trip to San Jose to their warehouse before being properly boxed and sent to the dock of Hawaii Ocean Transport in Oakland......oh how they lied ! The mattress showed up on the dock a couple of days later bulging out of the shrink wrap with footprints all over it and FOLDED IN HALF ! NICE! Now that is a caring mover if I ever saw one......this would not be so bad....but the day before the actual pickup I was assured they would bring a mattress cover. When the mattress finally arrived at the dock in Oakland they would not even receive it unless its condition was properly documented, it was in such bad shape. If you want to use a shipper who is so inept that they cannot even make a local deliver without trashing your furniture rest assured that Valley Relocation in Concord California is your team.
