Sloppy work and lacks integrity. First, we paid them 3x per month compared to our previous gardener because Val's Gardening promised an all-inclusive service. We were told that tree trimming would be included and everything would be "kept nice". However, when we requested tree trimming, we were told that they don't have the proper insurance so it can't be done. Excuse me??!! Second, the work seemed to be outsourced, and sometimes (not always) we get pretty sloppy work done. People would show up for 5 minutes, blow some leaves and call it a day. The ivy on the side of our front yard were overgrown like crazy without getting any attention. Overall, I'm not impressed by the service. read more

Val responded quickly, and while he wasn't able to come out to resolve the issue (it was late in the day), he offered to facetime to troubleshoot the issue over the phone. He was prompt, his crew was hardworking and they did a great job. His invoice came in at budget, but he threw in a number of services in addition to the work that he bidded on. So we actually got more than we payed for. For example, he added fittings and sprinklers to our drip system so that the new plants that he planted would get water. His crew also helped haul some debris to the curb and blow leaves on our neighbors driveway. These last items were not included in the original bid, but he threw them in for free. My experience with this company has been very disappointing. I spoke with Val and was looking forward to my experience in hiring him. Although there were disappointments during our beginning weeks I was very willing to give Val and his team time to work my yard and was optimistic in their capabilities and care of my yard. I had clearly expressed to Val that communication was important between us as I would have questions and concerns and would be in need of his response. It was not long before Val displayed a "don't care" attitude. In experiencing problems with my timer I messaged him expressing my need for him to install a new timer. No response. As Val showed no interest in assisting me with the new timer, I attempted to manually turn on sprinklers. Only one station was working! Perhaps the problem was not with the timer but with the sprinklers not being checked and adjusted. That explains partly why my grass and flowers were not looking well cared for. Had to fully turn off water flow as sprinkler was not properly focused on plants as it should have been and I had difficulty shutting off valve. Felt I could not contact Val for help as he would not respond regarding my prior concerns.as there were others. Why would this be any different? Unfortunately I could not depend on Val to respond to my needs as my gardener. In asking for the monthly invoice, again no response. As we initially met Val spoke as if conscientious and caring however his actions did not support this. I was being charged for overall maintenance and care however workmanship was not much more than mow and blow services. He only showed "interest" in realizing this review was to be posted. He has not once acknowledged his actions (or lack of) as being uncaring and unprofessional. As there was clearly a lack of interest, response, activity and communication therein exemplifies a lack of integrity. Being as such it is questionable as to whether subsequent reviews are truthful or bogus as most likely efforts wlll be made to detract from this truthfully written one. One may wonder why all the reviews were recently posted. Perhaps Val was in need of customers, thus opened a yelp acccount, and perhaps fictitiously created some reviews. This would not be surprising when one lacks credibility. If so, I can understand why the need. Perhaps offering a yelp discount in hopes of a favorable writeup. I do not recommend this company for as if treated "right" it would likely be only due to concern over another negative review. There are people genuine and there are those pretentious. It may take time to find a quality, trustworthy person but I look forward to a long term relationship with a company that genuinely cares, is hardworking, professional and based on integrity.
