We have had an excellent experience working with this company. This is the third landscaping company we have worked with over our 4 years living here in San Mateo and we could not be happier. There are 3 big projects for which we contracted with Zarco Landscaping, because they continually performed above and beyond on the work. The first project was for a room that would flood when it rains. The team at Zarco quickly diagnosed the problem as poor gutter placement and cracks in concrete on the floor above, and they worked rapidly to connect a new sewer system and rebuild our concrete walkway. There has been no more flooding. The second project was to improve the terrain and usability of our backyard, which is on a hill that was very difficult to navigate. The Zarco team completely transformed the area, building stone steps and leveling the land with premium soil, mulch, and stone. Please see the attached photos (we wish we had before pictures, but it was all dirt and invasive plants before on a steep incline)! Lastly, our third project had to be done rapidly after the recent storms in the bay area. We needed three very large and dead trees removed that were at risk of falling on our house or the street. The Zarco team came the next day to remove all of the trees. Overall, the Zarco team has always delivered amazing service and treated us with respect. The prices are also very reasonable and competitive with quotes we received from other businesses. Melecio and his crew did a great job! They updated my landscaping with fresh soil, an irrigation system, new plants and mulch. We used some extra pavers and Melecio upgraded the patio area with a pavers that just look great. The fence was old and needed repair. They built a new retaining wall, added posts and fencing for a fantastic stronger and more modern looking fence. They also helped upgrade some previous work on my artificial turf in the back yard, reinforced some hardscaping and replaced the irrigation system. Zarco was responsive as long as he believes he can make a quick buck. However, as soon as you ask him to fix an issue caused by his earlier work, he becomes extremely difficult to get a hold off and will try everything to charge extras for it. We had Zarco re-install part of our sprinkler system. He guarantees parts and labor for a year. In less than a year, a sprinkler hose that connected to the water main cracked, resulting in a big leak. Zarco promised to come next morning. Next morning, no show. After a few calls and text messages, he finally came in late afternoon. After looking at the problem, Zarco said this issue is definitely covered by his warrantee and will come back on Monday to fix it. Monday, no show again. More calls and text messages. Finally, he showed up on Weds. After replacing the connector, Zarco changed his story, backing out his work warrantee and wanting to charge us $250 for it. These actions indicates that Zarco lacks integrity. His work is not dependable. Simply, I will never do business with this shady business again! read more

Francisco is the best. We have tried for years to find a yard maintenance service that was reliable, efficient and would do the whole job, every time. These are the guys. We have a smallish front yard, and a large back yard with a lot of landscaping and about a third covered in artificial turf. The owner was very responsive as long as he thought he was going to be able to charge way above market rates for our yard maintenance. He said everything was included and promised great service for a reasonable rate, but when I told him I had cancelled service from my old gardener, he tried to double the rate he had quoted initially. When I called him on that, he asserted that he had been genuinely mistaken and said he would honor the rate he had quoted, but when asked about all the things he had said were included, he started quoting an additional $200-$1600 for every task. I had agreed to pay materials costs, but he was charging hundreds of dollars an hour for very unskilled labor and it wasn't worth dealing with him. I'll have to find someone else. Fortunately, there are lots of options to choose from. Don't bother with this guy unless you don't care about overpaying. read more

Grandpa and Grandma were left to see this work get done, while my daughter & her family were on vacation. We are extremely happy the new backyard and sprinkler system that Zarco Gardens installed. Melecio is great to work with and really understands customer service from start to finish (was responsive, on time, did what he said he'll do, and worked really, really hard to make sure I was happy with every detail). I needed to put in a whole new backyard in just 5 days while my family and I were out of town (till soil, remove roots, mix in topsoil/fertilizer, dig trenches, install borders, install new sprinkler system end-to-end, tie into plumbing, lay new sod, spray raccoon repellent, etc.). I wanted this to be a surprise for my kids who haven't had a grass backyard in 5 years. Melecio understood the challenge and was extremely fast to quote the job and then get started. I got quotes from at least 3 others, none of which could meet the challenge. I met with Melecio on a Wednesday, he quoted the job on the spot, I hired them on Friday when my family left town, they started on Saturday and were done by the following Wednesday afternoon just in time for our return.
