I took it to Clutch Automotive based on recommendations I read on Nextdoor. I was able to get an appointment right away even though the shop was busy. Paul greeted me, went out with me to check out my car. While speaking to him I told him I hadn't found a mechanic yet and the places I had been were expensive. He told me in full transparency that they are not the cheapest shop but are competitive with the dealerships. Long story short it wasn't an oil issue. They replaced my alternator, belt and idler pulley for $1500. Parts were marked up a little but I paid $800 in labor, $167 of which was to remove/install the belt and idler pulley. They already had it opened up to replace the alternator and had to pull the belt off anyway so I'm not sure why there was an additional charge in labor for that. Keep in mind that they have to remove the wheel, the wheel liner, etc. because it's not an easy alternator to get to. They were very personable, professional and easy to work with. The guys seemed to care that they did a good job. My car came back to me as clean as it was when I dropped it off. The alternator they installed wasn't testing as well as they liked, so they installed a better alternator for no more money. They offered to send a car to pick me up when my wife wasn't available to drop me off. My car isn't making the noise anymore and I am very happy about that. I wanted someone who knew what they were doing, saved maybe $400 from a dealership price, and now have a 3 year/36k mile warranty on parts and labor on my alternator should I need it. A+ on professionalism and customer service. B- on price based on labor charges.

The shop claimed the drain plug was suddenly damaged and that I needed a brand-new oil pan. Oil pans do not randomly fail on the exact day you pull in for a service. They said to plug in a temporary, oversized plug to patch it. One week ago, I had to return to get the oil pan completely replaced, and they charged me $500. I bought this car only 6 months ago from the Land Rover Dealership. 2008 Lexus (Car 2): About two weeks ago, I brought my Lexus in for an oil change. They told me it was "too early for an oil change" and that they just "added more oil." As soon as I parked the car at home, fresh oil began leaking onto my driveway. When I brought it back to have them check the leak, the technicians claimed it was suddenly "leaking from 2 places on the engine." Mysteriously, when I got the car home again, the leaking stopped. When I pulled the dipstick to check their work, I discovered why: they had maliciously overfilled my engine by nearly a full INCH above the maximum dot. They stuffed roughly 2 extra quarts of oil into my engine to hide the fluid loss, completely ignoring the fact that driving a car overfilled by an inch will whip the oil into foam, blow out seals, and destroy a motor. This shop is dishonest. I keep a photo of the 1-inch overfilled dipstick as proof.

I paid and while at the register, I asked if my locks had been put back in glove compartment. They said they would check and before they could a young man came from back and said I forgot these and handed to me. I noticed a wet spot under my truck and mentioned it to the young man checking me out and he came outside and crawled under my truck looked and confirmed it was water and not from my truck. While there I asked how the balance on the tires went he went and check with the crew and said it went well. He was such a big help and friendly from the moment I walked into the business. My first experience here is outstanding, i will be returning for my next oil change. One last item, the waiting room is the best. Comfortable chairs and a coffee bar. Outstanding. Outlining the knowledge and experience this shop processes. First and foremost the customer service I receive from Tony and the entire staff at Cinco Tire and Automotive each time I return is exemplary. My first experience with this shop started from word of mouth by an automotive technician who mentioned rates and services performed at Cinco Tire on many occasions to me at my job. Eventually I reached out to them for help and they were right there for me. I originally thought I had a stuck thermostat but they quickly discovered my problem. Not only was Tony able to work a fantastic price, but I could sense he really cared about my circumstances; going above and beyond with service and leading me the right way on repairing my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which unknown to me at the time had a blown head gasket due to a manufacture defect in the casting of my engine block which had broken away from one of the through bolts holding the driver-side portion of my head gasket. Through intensive diagnostics and experienced technicians they found the flaw in a very short time and rushed for my parts and Tony even planed a rental car for me and my daughters school function. They also had my vehicle towed to specialists on a flatbed truck that could correct the bolt issue by means of a coil insert to the faulty casting. After the completion of this in depth repair Tony recommended I file a claim with Chrysler I did have a current extended warranty and eventually had Jeep Chrysler reimburse me for all charges and fees But it doesn't stop there, this shop is a FULL service shop with skilled techs that perform everything I could ask for including regular maintenance like a synthetic oil change .I feel rest assured it's performed correctly and they beat anyone's price in Katy, TX and always honor coupons by Goodyear and their own as well. Cinco Tire and Automotive has made a believer out of me that not all garages are alike. And I will remain a loyal customer for life with Cinco Tire and Automotive.
