A service that has been free literally everywhere since the invention of rubber. That alone tells you everything you need to know about their corporate greed spiral. Understaffed, slow, confused, and clearly running on pressure tactics instead of competence. When I finally backed out of the line, a desperate employee chased me down begging me to stay like I was about to cancel their quarterly bonus. I have used this valvoline before but I will not again even though it is my closest spot. My last visit I arrived just as another sedan was pulling in. The parked behind a car in bay one, I parked in bay two behind another vehicle. About twenty minutes after arriving I had an employee come to my window and inform me they needed me to reverse. Not thinking much of it I immediately complied thinking the car in the bay may have needed to back up. But instead they guided the sedan who had arrived moments before me into my spot and instructed me to take theirs in bay one. Confused I did, assuming maybe one bay was better for the service they required. Instead after another five minutes the car in bay two finished and the sedan was taken back. Meanwhile they were still working on the car in front of me quite significantly. I inquired with an employee why I was forced to switch and he said it was because the other car had arrived before me. I pointed out they had only arrived moments before me and I had chosen the bay that was moving faster but now I was being pushed back at least another fifteen to twenty minutes after already waiting 25. The employee insisted it was the policy to take cars in order of arrival and I said what about when the line is three cars deep, I am certain you don't switch cars then. he admitted they did not so essentially I was just forced to give up my place in line based on a policy that can only be followed when one to two cars are waiting. I went Oil changers instead and in addition to being incredibly kind, they washed my windshield, asked if I needed any other services and were very quick. read more

The service is good but it is like they up sell on many things - that's good for the car. I am sure the cost is more than do it yourself- I just wish it was cheaper. Part of the problem I remember working in a store that sold automobiles cans of oil back in the mid 1970s and comparing to what I pay now it blows my mind. Valvoline took no responsibility, which is ridiculous, it started before we went to Valvoline...not after....I wonder who caused the problem. Poor workmanship, but the customer service was even worse...just denied everything, not even an apology, or a coupon....nothing. We will never go back. You get what you pay for. Well...First of all I've NEVER experienced service like this in my entire adult life where they actually do it with YOU personally watching them. The service was FAST, efficient and courteous. Of course they try to upsell things you may need but they handled it in a professional manner and didn't try to lie, but made it a personal choice instead. I have been to this location multiple times and the service has always just been ok. This past time, they over tightened my oil cap and oil was everywhere in my engine bay. They didn't offer to clean or do anything about it. They were supposed to fill my front tires and never did that as well. I will never be coming back to this location. Basic oil change at Valvoline on Central in Riverside. Nothing special except for the huge price tag for synthetic oil on this puppy. They did try and up sell me for items not needed. After all I'm rolling in a brand new Cooper. Smh The customer service was non existent. It's been better in the past. Not impressed this time. One last tidbit; the gentleman cashed me out and told me to have a good day. That's the good part. The not so good part is that it was prior to the other guy putting the oil into the vehicle. I regularly get my oil changed at my local Valvoline along with other minor maintenance. This location is not my regular Valvoline. On this occasion I was about to start a four-hour drive and my tire light was on indicating low pressure. I stopped here and assumed that my air was filled. I realize sometimes the light does not go off right away but after running a couple errands nearby the light was still on. Being that I was still in the area I went to America's Tire in the same area. Before I even drove off the light was off. The tech there said my pressure was low so not sure exactly what they did at Valvoline or why I even wasted my time there. read more

So I went to replace it at the same location, and what do ya know, a second leak. Half my oil gone. I waited over an hour both times at the other location. So I had enough with the other location. On-site techs are doing their best but they made a mistake in recommending a tire rotation. They opted to recommend me a time-interval based rotation instead of a tread-based rotation. I ended up with the least tread on my front tires and best tread on back tires. Turning, stability, safety is all in question now. I called and spoke with a "Kay" or "Jay" to ask what time they close today as it is Christmas Eve, I got no answer. Once I expressed that I was hoping to get the service reversed they were not interested in my concern. They took no accountability and made me feel like a loser for seeking accountability in their role in recommending an unsafe service. They said I would have to pay for the service again. Keep in mind when coming to a Valvoline that they may try to sell you unneeded services and in this case, a service which in turn renders your vehicle unsafe or accident-prone. A service is supposed to better the situation and not worsen it or exploit the circumstances. Really disappointed in the representative I spoke with as they did not have a team or winning attitude. I usually get my car serviced at the dealership, but they didn't have a appointments available so I figured I'd give this place a try for an oil change. I've had a horrible experience so far. On 7/22/23 I went in for an oil change and they stripped the oil plug, they told me they were having trouble removing it and took a hood while attempting to remove it before they told me THEY stripped the oil plug while they were attempting to remove it and weren't able to remove it. They told me to go to a mechanic since they were not capable of removing the plug. I was already running late for something so I didn't think much of it until the next week, when I went to a mechanic on 7/28/23 and they told me I needed to replace the oil pan. I called this location on 7/28/23, I spoke with the assistant manager who seemed like a great guy and looked up all the information of my visit and said he'd be happy to start a claim for me, then he passed me to his manager of the location which completely blew me off and said it wasn't their responsibility. I then called the Valvoline IOC claims department which told me a claim had not been filed and they had nothing on record, so they opened a claim for me Claim number#CS0573094. I didn't hear anything back for 2 days so I called back. They told me the Location manager denied the claim, even though I had already told support that the location manager had already denied everything. I asked to reopen the claim and escalated it to the area manager, which they said they would. I kept calling the claims department every other day or so until today 8/4/23 when I was finally able to speak to the Area manager (Art) which told me he takes the locations manager word that the plug was already stripped on arrival. I told him if he had reviewed the audio and video tapes himself, and he said no. I got tired of having to argue with them that if they stripes the plug, why wouldn't they take responsibility in fixing it, so I told them it's pointless to keep arguing the issue if je was stuck on "it's not our responsibility". He told me they see plugs stripped all the time and are able to replace them, but apparently not. I even offered to go back and pay for my oil change if they can remove the plug they had already stripped, and Art said no. My one and only experience with this location, was terrible and I would not recommend to anyone. The frontline workers and assistant manager seemed great and were really nice, don't get me wrong, but my experience with the location manager was terrible. On the claims department side, it seemed like they were just leading me on in hopes that I would stop calling until the last support person I talked was extremely rude and said it was closed and they were not going to reopen it, until I got stern with them to speak with an Area Manager, finally called me a few minutes after the claims support conversation. Art just told me they had no responsibility, which at least let me know I could put this to rest and not bother with Valvoline. I'll be advising with legal counsel to see if I pursue this further. It might not be worth the headache and just fox the plug myself this weekend. I'll post pictures of the damage they did to the bolt so you don't have to take my word for it. I asked to reopen the case and they denied it. To my understanding, no one wanted to review the tapes/audio. Also, the person to close the case was the person responsible for the location, not the Area manager or any other unbiased person that reviews the details. Just something to consider, I'd recommend going to any other oils change service and saving yourself a headache. read more

Careful! This place will try to scam you out of hundreds of dollars. I asked my 70 year old mother to take my truck in for a basic oil change. The tech printed out a sheet of "recommended " services totaling over $500 and trued to get her to do some of them. It's a good thing my mother had the wherewithal to decline the extras because everything on that list had already beed done in the last two weeks. My mother said they even pulled out my 3 day old air filter and said it had to be replaced. I called the place to discuss it with them but the manager wasn't having it.
