I appreciated that Tom, the assistant manager, was honest about one of my filters not needing changing. I also didn't feel pressure one way or the other to replace the filter if I didn't want to. He was also personable, and acknowledged the long wait I had since one part of the garage isn't working. And at the end, when I was fully prepared to mention that I had an email for a "President's Day" discount, he asked me if I had a discount first. I appreciated that! Went for an oil change. These guys are thorough. They do a light checks as soon as you pull up and while changing our oil he showed us how filthy our air filter was (cuz we live in NYC, so duh) it wasn't bad, but they didn't have the right filter so they didn't change it. Over $100 for full synthetic oil change and the "40 point inspection" or whatever they call it; can definitely find cheaper options. They also managed to mangle my undercarriage/engine cover because Phillips head screws are too complicated. It makes me wonder if the oil change was actually done correctly if at all. It's been a while since I've used Valvoline. But upon my return, I realized the service process has changed. Customers are now required to pull up to the bay and stay in the car during the whole maintenance process. Come on now. I'm paying YOU to check the oil, brake fluid and everything else. Why the f*ck do I need to do the freaking maintenance? I know...It may take me a while to get used to it, but I found it very awkward. Once I pulled in, I wasn't sure or prepared for the next steps and it felt a bit confusing. More important, I don't feel as though this new approach saves any more time. Actually, it felt longer and overwhelming. Again......I'm PAYING YOU. When I take my car for service, I don't expect to be part of the process and I feel that the fee that I'm paying, should cover the full, freaking service. If not, then maybe the price should reflect a reduction to account for my time to pull into the bay, turn the car on and off, operate the lights and pull the car out. I'm paying the same fee but I'm receiving less service. Just my thoughts. read more

Oops! Missed the 3K miles recommended oil change. Need to visit a mechanic quickly. Luckily there is an instant oil change! This is the first time I am visiting such instant oil change. You drive through your car, you stay in your vehicle, sitting comfortably, and listening to my music while they will perform the oil change. Kinda cool. The mechanics kinda professional too. The first mechanic asked me if this is my first time to be in Valvoline which I said yes. He explained to me how everything works, I choose one of the 3 oil change options and they will proceed with the job. I choose the first option which is good for the next 3k miles. The second mechanic opened the hood, put some rubber matting by the fender to prevent it from getting scratched. The othee mechanic went under the car and I believe he took care of the plug and changing the filter. The bill is a little bit higher (around $10 higher) than my user oil change but I am paying for the comfort, convenience and their professionalism. read more

I finally got my oil changed (very overdue) and looked online where to go. Valvoline advertises their 15min oil change. My oil change was definitely 15 minutes, and the guy working (the manager I believe) was super friendly and answered a few questions I had. On top of him being very helpful, the other workers there tested everything, including my lights, windshield wiper fluid, air filter and much more. They make sure your car is in tip top shape before leaving (only benefiting you), and I love that I didn't have to leave the car for my service! Very convenient and I will definitely be going here from now on for my services! My car needed synthetic oil, and was $89 with tax for that service- but check online for their coupon codes! Valvoline claims 15 minutes... needlessly, the process more like 30-40 min per car. So, lining up with 1 car in bay, 1 ahead of me in line, it was a 2 hour visit. Moreover, no one asked to check headlights, brake lights, turn signals, etc. Not convinced routine checks that supposedly come with the service were performed. read more

I stopped by this Valvoline today because our car's "Oil & Filter" maintenance light came on, despite having had it changed (elsewhere) recently. A friendly staff member inquired about the reason for my visit. I explained that I thought the notification might just need to be reset. He checked my oil and agreed it still looked somewhat new. He had a manager come over to reset the oil-maintenance-reminder for me. I really appreciated their helpful and friendly assistance. Absolutely brutal. Went in for an oil change at over $100 and within two weeks my cars engine light came back on that I needed an oil change again. Upon going back to the same place and employee said to have inspected the issue and said there was no issue. Within 24 hours I returned again because this is not something that should be happening after an expensive oil change and a manager completely flush the oil change and did another oil change free of charge. This led me to believe that the first one was incorrect or incomplete. Now just some weeks later the check engine light has returned telling me that I need an oil change again. Needless to say I will not be returning to this place as they definitely did something wrong under the hood. There is some sort of leak as there are oil stains in my parking space to my residence. I have previously had a good experience here, but I came in for an oil change during COVID and I won't be back. One employee wasn't wearing a mask at all, one had a gaiter on, and one had a medical mask that he kept pulling down to this chin or under his nose. I felt unsafe, but didn't feel like I could leave because my car was already on the tracks and they were working on it. Maybe the company could give the employees masks so that their employees and the customers are safe. I have a family member who is really at risk. read more

I was dreading having to come here, for a simple oil change. Although I'm 30+ years on, I've never before had an oil change done, because I lived in NYC with no car. Being a newbie, I had anticipatory anxiety about making this trip because I worried I would do something wrong, or waiting forever, or having the workers notice my ignorance... ANYWAYS, none of the above was true. First, when I pulled in, where to drive in was intuitive. The worker then approached me to ask what I needed, and I let him know. I didnt even need to get out of the car. I think there were 2 cars ahead of me but I only waited for about 15 minutes. (I did purposefully go on a weekday afternoon). You could literally see that the staff were working swiftly. Yet, no one that I interacted with was anything but polite. Can't really say it's 'instant' service but it's good service. I dropped off my car around 4:40 pm today and according to the associate I spoke with, there were 2 cars ahead of me and he had estimated about half hour. I wasn't finished until about an hour later. Thankfully, I had not been sitting there that whole time. The location is convenient in that it's right off Central Ave, and within walking distance to the many shopping strips asking that main road. TJ Maxx, a Korean tofu house and McDonald's are all right next door so that you can keep yourself busy while waiting for your car to be serviced. Keep you eye out for coupons I'm the mail or online, through their website. You can save $15 off your synthetic oil change. For my compact car, the oil change costs me $59.99 - $15 (coupon) + 99 cent fee for a plug (I think this is a new charge as I didn't see this last time in December when I last serviced my car here). They also replaced my cabin air filter, which was an additional $59.99. Overall, I felt it was kind of pricey but having a coupon helps. read more

I've been going to these guys for 2 cars now, and they do a great job. I'm good at what I do, but if u ask me to change a tire, change my oil, or flush my radiator fluid, u have the wrong guy. I normally ask for Patrick or Mr. Grimer to work on my car, because they respect me as a customer and they explain to me what exactly they are doing. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! I specifically told them that I need to put synthetic oil in my car (they sneakily put regular oil in there). I specifically asked BEFORE and AFTER if they were putting synthetic oil in & they were adamant that they did. My car was at about 20,000 miles & I saw the sticker said to come get another oil change at 23,000 miles. So I asked him about it & he legitimately said that ALL types of oil need to be changed after 3,000 miles, which is NOT true for synthetic oil (you need to change it every 8,000 miles). Then, I asked for a receipt and they charged me for synthetic oil. Surprise, surprise, the receipt was never emailed! Moral of the story, do not go here. After assessing my car, they always explain their suggestions and are happy to answer any follow-up questions I have. One tip when you are driving there... When I got in the loading bay I repeated I wanted the cheapest oil and they confirmed. When they finished they gave me a bill for $44 and then denied to my face they said $30! He then reduced it to $34 and said he believed his worker and not me! This is pure switch and bait and a very poor business practice. I'm horrible at remembering to get the oil changed in my car, so when I finally get the oil changed, it's always last minute and in desperation. I usually go to Valvoline, because it's relatively straight forward and, while I wait for the oil to be changed, I can wander and shop at the nearby stores. The service could be better.
