I am NEVER buying a Kia. The experience I had with them was the worst one I've ever had. I bought a NEW car in January of 2024 and it turned out to be a nightmare. I took my car to service back in April of 2024 because it broke down after exiting the freeway. They had to tow it and kept it at service until May 2024. After getting my car back, a few days later the codes went off again and took it straight to service. I was told they would not be able to take it in since they had no room until July, so I had no choice but to take home a defective car. I took it in again in July and they were finally able to take it in. We weren't given a rental or anything after continuously asking for one . They had my car from July 2024 and in March of 2025 they called to tell me my car was ready for pickup. I wasn't able to take it home the day I went since everyone had conveniently gone home for the day. My husband went the following day to pick it up, and not even 20 minutes later the car had broken down AGAIN. During the whole time that my car was in service, I was not given a single update after continuously texting and calling them. They had failed to inform me that the first person that took my car had been fired; the second person that then took my car was also fired. I only found out this information when I would personally go to service. The third person that took in my car was completely clueless as to what was wrong with it, and I do not blame him - I blame their horrible management. This caused me so much stress, time, and money that I did not have. I had been paying for a car and insurance I was never able to use for almost a year. It was all good until I signed the papers. I leased a new KIA electric - my third - the first 2 from Glendale KIA which is further away for me so I went to Van Nuys. Then I received a statement from KIA Finance that was $34 more monthly than was agreed on. I called Atta, my salesperson who tried to blame it on Eric in finance. From then on neither would take my calls - everyday for a week. I still had my old lease as I paid $2800 to repair the exterior scratches. Now no one responds to my calls to come get the old KIA which I do not own anymore but frankly expect to be charged for keeping it on my property. I still don't know why I have a higher monthly. (A friend chalked it up to taxes). And I don't know when they will miss their old leased vehicle. Plus, I have never received any communication - phone or email - from Atta, my salesman, Eric, the finance officer. And Ali, the dealership manager, owner. So I am a disgruntled, overcharged and ghosted customer. I'm an 87 year old widow who has been blindsided by these aggessive men. Did I mention the rudeness from Atta on my first call? This dealership knows absolutely nothing about customer service. I purchased a Kia Niro from them two weeks ago. The process was very laborious and time consuming. We waited four hours to sign the papers and another hour and a half while they changed the tires on the car. By the way they did a bad job balancing the wheels. Subsequently, I took the car to a tire shop and had them re-balance the wheels. When we were about to leave the salesman gave me the key, ONE KEY! I asked about the second key and he just said that was all they had was one. No offer to make another one, even at my expense. There is a law that says dealerships can not do add ons without your permission. However, they added on a warranty before the sale, so that it is inside the asking price. It's the same thing but this way they get away with it. Then I find out there is not a manual for the infotainment system. After all this I have tried to reach the service manage, general manager and finally anyone! These people do not return calls period. BTW, the car is great. We love it and highly recommend it. But then there is the dealership. Unfortunately, the only reason I gave them one star is because you can't give them a minus one star. The second key is going to cost $425 and you can not buy one after market. Also, my salesman, who ws good, left and is now at another Kia dealership. I had to come out of pocket $240 to program a key on a brand new Kia I purchased in November of 2025. The dealership said the original duplicate key was in storage but promised to mail it. After 6 weeks of calls and texts, they admitted they lost it and mailed us a new key. When we received it and contact them, they told us we had to come to the dealership to have it programmed...a 3 hour round trip from our home. We told them that was too great a hardship for us and ask they reimburse us the cost of having it programmed at our local dealer. They refused and offered a free service. I reminded the salesman that he sold me the service package...and also a new car does not require service. He promised to call me back. That as a week ago. I gave up and came out of pocket to program the key. read more

Let me start by saying I was able to get in and out of the dealership pretty quickly since I had the deal negotiated and credit application filled out online, so that was pretty good. Problems started when I left there, however. When I leased my car, it was supposed to have floor mats (per the window sticker) but the car did not. The salesman told me I could come back and pick them up later. I tried to reach out to the salesman multiple times afterwards and never heard back, so I got screwed on floor mats. I also got a weird noise/vibration that started just a few days after I leased this vehicle. When I called, I was told it would be at least a couple of weeks before I could get in for a diagnostic appointment and they don't offer a loaner before a diagnosis is made. So, I'm driving the stupid car with the noise and vibration and hoping it doesn't get any worse and I got screwed out of floor mats. These guys get five stars from me all around! The shout outs go to Jimmy from sales and Greg from the service team. Jimmy worked with us tirelessly to help us find a car. Our original car was in a car accident and was totaled, so going into having to buy a new car was not something we were particularly excited about. HOWEVER, Jimmy got us excited about it. He was compassionate about our situation, and our budget...and he never made us feel bad about our budget, and did everything he could to work with us. But what was even more important is that he was the only sales guy, between four different Kia dealerships, who made me feel like he genuinely wanted to help me. He wasn't pushy, he just got us excited about the different cars. He never made us feel like we were being frustrating, or picky, or any one of the many feelings other dealerships made me feel. We did not end up buying from there, simply because their inventory was low and we couldn't find something that matched our budget with the options they had. They were very reasonable about everything, we just were on a tight time limit. If I had more time, I would have waited and bought from him because he made me feel good about buying a car from there. Onto Greg! We bought a car from a different dealership, about two hours away, and a few days later, the oil change warning came on. I called the dealership we bought from and they couldn't figure out how to fix it over the phone, so I thought I'd give the service dealership here a try, and I'm so glad I did. I pulled up, without an appointment, and asked if he could help me with it, and he was so nice about it! He did not have to be that nice. He seemed unbothered by me, and so willing to help. He didn't try to push anything additional on me, which I also appreciated. He got the oil change warning reset and set to notify me at the proper time, and then helped me figure out how to work out some of the tech in my car. He was very knowledgeable and just really kind. If you want to buy or get your car serviced by people you feel like you can trust, hit up Jimmy in sales and Greg on the service team. Zero stars if I could. I will be reporting to the Consumer Protection Bureau. It's a shame that the norm for car dealers is shady and non-trustworthy, and Kia Van Nuys is the perfect example of why that is. Throughout my process of buying out my car lease from this dealer I was met with several instances of being given contradicting, or just plainly misleading information. I've learned that I cannot trust anything they say, and this was proven to me several times from several different Kia Van Nuys team members. It's a long story and you can read more in my long narrative essay below, lol, but in short, don't buy Kia, specifically Kia Van Nuys. Dear Customer Service person responding to reviews: it's clear you're just giving lip service and aren't making real change to stop scamming people. You're complicit in the dealership's dishonesty. ............... The culminating example of their shadiness was me opening up my car auto loan letter from the bank that showed I owed about $10k more than the Kia Van Nuys sales team verbally told me (and which I verbally confirmed with them multiple times). At the time of purchasing out my lease, they gave me a quote. My partner and I specifically asked multiple times if that quote included ALL fees. They said yes. They assured me yes multiple times. They talked about it being so much less than what was expected. Then come to find out (3 weeks after the transaction was complete) the ACTUAL total was about $10k more than what they said. I now have to pay $10k more. There were several other instances of shadiness throughout the process of buying out the car lease and configuring details. At one point I was still getting emails from the main, central Kia saying that I never turned in my lease and would start getting fined for not turning it in (when in reality I had turned it in). I have gone back and forth several times between the main, central Kia telling me what the Kia Van Nuys did wrong and needed to correct. Ali, one of the Kia Van Nuys managers, is polite but doesn't seem to really care or have impetus to change anything of how his staff operate. Sultan, one of the Kia Van Nuys Finance Managers, gave me just plain wrong information ("Oh it's fine that Kia is still sending you notices that you didn't turn your car in. Just ignore them." WRONG. I'm glad I didn't listen to him or I would have been sent to collection agencies.) Other sales staff told me plainly wrong information about car warranties that luckily I caught when cross-examining different staff. Elisa, another finance manager, is smarter but trickier and very good at wordsmithing to appear like she did nothing wrong, all the while completely scamming you. Next, the Finance Department will say "Oh yes, you were approved for a loan so easily!" But a month later I got letters from all these banks saying I applied for a loan but was rejected. My credit score was then lowered from the different loan applications. No one from the Finance Department told me they had to apply to multiple banks. I called Kia's main Consumer Affairs Bureau several times. They told me that the Kia District Manager would contact me. He never did. I called the Consumer Affairs Bureau again. They assured me the District Manager would really contact me this time. He never did. I'm aware that inevitably some of you will for some reason side with the dealership. "You should have read EVERY single line of fine print." "It's your fault this happened, you didn't do x." If you're one of these people, I'm sorry multimillion dollar corporations and greedy franchise managers have stomped you down so hard that you now take their side and accept their bullshit lies. True, if I had taken several hours to go through every contract line and had an accountant do all of the math in the contract, I would have seen "Hey, these numbers are way different than what you verbally told me." But guess what- I shouldn't have to do that. People who need to buy a car shouldn't have to be legal experts or cross-examining experts. I should be able to trust the word of the people who told me several times that ALL the fees would be a certain amount. I was able to cross-examine and pinpoint several other times they gave me inaccurate information. Imagine all the families who due to a number of factors (English as a second language, lower familiarity with dealerships, first-time car purchasers, etc) who aren't able to do that, and who are subject to this sleazy dealership's lies. read more

Additionally their website does not list any information about who their leadership team or GM is so it's very challenging to find someone else to follow up with. What an experience. Had my vehicle towed there due to something electrical. After a week, they told me there were multiple parasitic draws, and among other things - needed a new key cylinder ($1600). Also an alternator ($1400) and several other indeterminate electrical fixes that they may or may not be able to do. All in, they had the car 2 1/2 weeks. It all felt wrong, so I had it towed to my regular mechanic. He diagnosed a bad alternator, and had it replaced in a day. No parasitic draws, no key cylinder issue, no other issues at all. Just an alternator. That was a month ago - and the car works just fine. I don't even think it was an attempt to gouge me. I think it was just incompetence. Front desk guy tried pretty hard to help me, but he wasn't doing the diagnosis. Won't go there again... Oh - and the really fun part? The completely wrong diagnosis cost me $330 (their fee if you don't do the work there). read more

Buyer BEWARE!! This is more for the service department but if you buy a car from the sales team (who were amazing) you have to deal with the service department. If I could give zero stars I would. I bought a brand new 2023 Kia sportage in July. It has 16 miles on it. Fast forward to November of 2023 and my car dies on me. I had to use my AAA card to tow it because the service department couldn't remind me that I have free towing through them. They quoted "it is not our job to inform you". My husband took my car on a Monday. When we bought the car we were told if it couldn't be diagnosed in an hour we would get a loaner. They told him because they were busy it could take THREE DAYS but won't give us a car until they diagnose it. That was problem one. After sitting at service for 7 hours he finally got a loaner car. In the meantime Walter hit my husband with a door and laughed (which my husband did not think was funny). Ruben sent me one text saying he would communicate with me and I got ZERO communication. They called Wednesday evening and said they would bring my car to my work at 8am the next morning and pick up the loaner. After texting all day I called. I finally got a manager Ismael who said "Oh let me expedite this". This was at 3pm and I was leaving work at 4pm. Obviously this wasn't going to happen if I didn't call. I've never been treated like this in my entire life! I'm so disappointed in Kia and honestly wish I could get a different car. So just remember all of this when you go to buy a Kia. read more

I made an appointment and dropped my car off on Monday and am being told the earliest they can hook it up for diagnostics is Thursday. So they won't even start to look into what's wrong with my car until day 4 of having it in their possession--at the EARLIEST. It could be next week for all I know. And their policy is that they can't give me a loaner car until they hook it up for diagnostics. So my car, which was having an issue that only affected it for freeway driving, has just been sitting there for three full days. Kia has done literally nothing with it that entire time, without ever having to give me a loaner car because of a rule they made up that lets them just hold the car without diagnosing it--maybe indefinitely? I could have been driving it all that time. Like, maybe to a different dealer's service department where they could actually diagnose the problem on the same day they took the appointment. POSTSCRIPT: They told me the foam had come off all 4 tires and they needed to be replaced. Not because they were worn, but because the tires selected by Kia had a defect. They also told me I'd either have to call Kia Corporate or the tire manufacturer about a warranty. Kia Corporate told me I'd have to talk to the dealership or manufacturer. The manufacturer told me -- as I suspected they would -- only Kia can request a warranty because the manufacturer sold the tires to Kia, so any warranty was issued to Kia, not me. Also, after all this, I took it to my local tire shop. They took the tires off and let me look. The foam was off on only two of the tires, not all four, which was what Kia Van Nuys told me. read more

I brought my car in for a recall and was my promised time was going to take 3 hours. After taking an hour for lunch, I walked back to the service center and walked right in to the waiting area and all seats were filled. So I ended up having to stand for a while until someone left. The parts department looked like it was no longer in operation as their shelves were pretty much empty and there was no one there to man the store. I think it would be best to convert that and expand in to a bigger waiting area. Their WiFi speed was barely over 3Mbps up and down. This really needs to be improved if they are going to make people wait in here. I did not see any drinking water available here. However, there was a machine that made coffee and some popcorn (don't know how long it's been sitting there). I didn't try the coffee, so can't comment on the taste. There is a vending machine if you want to purchase drinks. It does take tap to pay, which is a great option. After waiting over 4 hours, I finally received the text and walked over to my advisor. I also noticed that they did not wash my car because I didn't see any water on my car and can still see dust on it. I didn't bother bringing this up to my advisor because I was ready to get out to of there after they've made me wait over an hour. Plus, they no longer provide shuttles anymore. Luckily I brought my laptop with me and kept myself busy. They really need to improve their waiting area for sure and to be honest, it's looked that same since the first time I saw it back in 2022. read more
