Very disappointed in this place. After coming here several times. The last few times have been disappointing. Tina was my nail tech on this visit. She attempted to upsell me on a pedicure. I asked for hot stone massage pedicure and was told it would be 30$ additional. I'm not paying 57$ for a pedicure. She then proceeded to fill my tub with cold water. When I asked her to turn it up some. She just kept turning it. It never got warm. While prepping my nails. She asked if I wanted them cut down. I told her no because I get in grown tried nails when they're short. I went about my business and noticed after she filled them. She cut ALL my nails off. They were to the quick. I was so beside myself and fuming. When I asked her why she said....sorry and proceeded to file them. She then took a sharp tool and ran it under my non existent nail which felt like av razor blade. It goes on from her. Nothing went right and I won't be using her again. I will speak with the manager before leaving to express my disappointing experience. read more

This place was really busy but I was immediately greeted and accommodated. There was a guy walking around to make sure the employees were saying hello and talking to their clients. She also helped me find various options when I couldn't decide on a gold glitter to pick for my accent nail. I've been to this salon several times since it opened and it's still the only one I go to. This is a very nice nail salon. Very Clean and comfortable. They are not always good with sitting parties together for pedicures even with appointments. Although apologetic. I've recently gone there for an acrylic fill-in which of course they try to upsell to gel or their new nail dip!! I keep my nails fairly short and they charged me $2 extra for trimming which takes about 10 extra seconds while they are smoothing down Nails. Although the tech did a good job I will not be returning. Very poor customer service. read more

I did a lot of research before coming to this nail spot and there was a lot of awesome reviews. They had great photos, great recommendations and the place was relatively new. However I did not experience the same thing. I went in there for a full set with dip powder, and received the complete opposite. The gentleman doing my nails did not listen my request at all, I wanted a specific color and I was told no as he applied just regular pink acrylic. He was constantly on the phone during the whole hour of my SET appointment that I drove all the way from Wesley Chapel to attend. The nails did not come out how I expected and they charged me $75 for it. I had to go to another nail spot to get them corrected which cost even more money. I even saw a lady doing a clients eyelashes at a nail tech station instead of in a separate room, as most nail places do for sanitary reasons. I will not be returning to this nail place nor will I be recommending it to anybody else. read more

Not my first rodeo with them but I was feeling like everyone deserves a second chance. I went with my girlfriend and wanted to get a manicure but with gel. We walked in and was greeted which was great! My friend got settled first and I was told to go pick colors for my set and as I was looking for colors a young lady by the name "Vicky" came up I asked if she could help me find some white nail polish. She then ignores my request and assumes I'm getting a pedicure and starts asking me about my feet. ( I was wearing jeans and a pair of Vans for shoes) so obviously I wants getting one but she proceeds to point it out. I politely correct her about how I'm getting a manicure and she pulls me to her table and starts putting lotion on my hands. After she's done I asked for the acrylic nails and she smiles and nods her head and continues to open her bottle of nail polish and I pulled my hands back and explain that I'm here for acrylic nails and she then gets irritated with me and says I should've told her that. I dismissed it and she starts doing my nails correctly (so I thought) and slamming things as she goes on. Then when I tell her about the colors she asked me if I wanted to do ombre. I haven't had them done in that style in a while so I was excited and said yes. She then goes on to say that it'll be $60 plus $10. No further details had been explained so I assumed it was $50 + $10= $60. No. I paid $70 for this disaster. Needless to say I won't be going back. read more

Visited this spa for the first time Thursday, May 18th for a pedicure and added an eyebrow wax. My first clue something was wrong is it hurt much worse than usual and she never showed me a mirror. What I realized shortly after was that instead of just waxing my eyebrows she waxed me eyelids which are obviously much more delicate and not something she should have been touching. We immediately went out of town so I contacted the spa asking for advice on line and was told my skin must have been thin. Of course it was, it was my eyelids! They wanted me to drive back over there - 45 minutes from my home and point out who had performed the service since they keep no records apparently. I did however tell them all the details, what she looked like (red/purple hair), the chair and time of visit. They were only ever willing to offer a refund of $8 for the wax which I believe was inadequate and extremely poor customer service. I understand mistakes happen but a business should always provide excellent customer service if they want to succeed. Lesson learned, I will be much more careful in choosing this type of service going forward for sure. The picture below is three days later with scabs on both eyes, very painful for sure! Sadly we had a weekend getaway where I had to walk around looking this way and couldn't take any family photos because of the way I looked. The spa in general was very busy and loud and not at all relaxing like a spa should be. I would definitely look elsewhere if I were you! read more

I came to Van Spa to enjoy a pedicure after a long and tiring week in and out of the hospital. It was recommended to me by a coworker and now I may never trust her again! The nail technician butchered my feet, making it difficult to walk the next day. Instead of gently removing dead skin from my heel, he removed ALL of it. When I spoke to the manager and showed him what had happened, instead of apologizing and helping me, he offered me only $10 off my final price. How could he ask me to pay for a service that has left me bleeding and in pain? I will now be returning to my usual spot, Rose Nails, where I have never had any negative experiences. read more

I'd like to review the first and LAST time I visited Van Nails. I was so disappointed with the mani pedi I received there. The tech seemed to be in a hurry doing my manicure. She asked me to go wash my hands and when I turned to go back to her station she called me over to a pedicure chair. She started my pedicure by soaking my feet and proceeded to paint my nails, with my hands in the air, standing up next to the chair!! I have NEVER had a nail tech do that. Talk about feeling rushed! I looked around at many other people getting proper manicures and was disappointed. When she proceeded with the pedicure I asked her to please not dig into the side of my big toe with the cuticle nippers because a previous nail tech did that and left my toenail a weird shape. So what does she do? She proceeds to do EXACTLY what I asked her NOT to do!! I was SO aggravated and upset at that point. After it was all over and done with, it cost me $50. I tipped her $10 for her time but I will never go back to this salon. They should coach their nail techs to take their time and make each guest feel special. I am a Certified Nail Designer for 25 years and a Stylist from up North. My daughter is going to SEU in Lakeland and needed a place to get her nails done. We shopped and visited around nail salons as I have been to visit a few times. I highly recommend this place. My sister in-law came w us last time and is a stylist as well. We all rated it 4* The place is very clean, attentive, offers free complimentary beverages and yes that includes wine! Their pedicures are worth the money as it wasn't the rushing and get you in and out kind of feel. It was very relaxing, Nail n Toes painted side wall to side wall and the Kiara Sky collection is by far our favorite! (next to OPI) and they have the Gel!!With great color collections! I've been coming to Van Nails for over a year. I started doing pedicures and enjoyed having it done by Daisy, I've been coming to see her for almost a year. I'm not sure what was happening with Daisy, but she not only cut me once but twice, the first time I let it go, it wasn't that bad. But the second time, she took a chunk of my skin off my smaller toe, I do have a picture. I couldn't believe it. I couldn't even continue, but what really upset me, she still charged me for something I didn't even get the full treatment. I never went back to do a pedi. But, I gave Van Nails the benefit of doubt, I did the gel nails with Amy, she did a great job, but the only thing with her, I would make an early appointment and she will be late 15 to 25 minutes. I let it go, but now she was late on June 9th and they didn't even say anything to me while sitting there for over 15 minutes. I'm the customer, my time is valuable! I went to the receptionist and she tells me regarding her father. This is very unacceptable. Van Nails will always has an excuse why she's late. Why make the appointment at 9:45am knowing that she is not going to come in until after 10 am. It's ridiculous! I asked for someone else, that couldn't speak English very well, so I ended up with Mia. Mia was rude!!! Maybe because I asked for someone else, again, that was not necessary. I noticed that Van Nails is not what it used to be, there equipment, chairs, pedi chairs need repair (Some of the pedi chairs don't even massage very good)! I spoke to the Manager and asked her to let the Owner know, but, I'm pretty sure she did not. That's why I decided to write a review. Beautiful place but the service has gone down from when they first opened, at least in my experience. Hubby and I go for pedicures together but he refuses to come back here as they did a poor job on his feet the 2x he came with me. His heels were so rough, not baby butt smooth like he gets at another place we go too. They used to offer soda, wine or water, but they didn't when I came in recently. Last 2x I went, ended up with Vicky for my gel mani. First time, the coatings were too thin, color did not look like the bottle or color swatch at all. I figured it was the polish's quality. Then the gel polish was not cleaned out properly around the nail and stuck to the skin so when the nail grew, the polish pulled off the skin, cracked and ripped. Next time I went, got her again, this time she forgot to put the second coat so left and right hand were not the same color. When I pointed out to her, she swiped off the top coat, which thinned the color, then applied the 2nd coat. Then she got into a rush, I barely felt the hand and arm massage, before applying oil on the nails. Later I realized she didn't check if the nails were cured before putting the oil because when my hands dried after I was gone, found that half of my left thumb was dull and the polish was sticky. The first times I came here when they just opened, the tech would use a brush with acetone to clean the drips around the nail bed, so when the nail grew out, the polish was still perfect. I didn't see anyone do that when I last came. She used her thumb nail to clean around the nail bed and filed the extra polish that stuck out. I noticed other places have been doing the same too. Guess that practice of perfection is gone. Beautiful salon but not satisfied so will find another place to try. read more

This was my first time here, as I live in Orlando I have my usual nail salon. But I've been visiting my parents this month, and I have my best friends wedding in two days so I decided to get my nails done here since the bride gots hers done here and said it was a nice place, so I decided sure why not. So I looked the place up and looked at the pictures and they looked great! I got there around 5pm for a pedi, and a fill. I got the lavender pedicure, which was "okay" the technician spent most of the time massaging my legs, barely touched my feet which sucked because I love my feet rubbed, the design on my big toe looks horrible, and she even said she isn't the best with designs, I wish I knew that before hand or I would of hand all my toe nails just be French tip. And since I did gel polish I knew it was going to be a little pricey but to have it be $63 just for a pedicure is insane! I've never had a pedicure cost so much and for something I don't really like. Now on to the other issue, as I stated before I went to have my nails filled in, my nail technician in Orlando does two dipped powder to make the ombré nails look amazing when I told the nail tech at Van she just said "oh okay" in a annoyed tone, as she starts filing my nails down I noticed my pinky was starting to hurt then it hurt so much they I didn't want it touching anything and I couldn't even bend my finger, but I pushed through the pain. Then nail tech filed my nails down to short and I wanted coffin shaped nails, instead I got square even after I told her I wanted coffin. Then she made a complaint that it's very difficult to do two dip powder after she was almost finished. But it did come out "okay" other than the thickness is uneven with each nail, I have a bump on one of them, and even three hours after my nails were finished my pinky still hurts! Oh and let me tell you the kicker, my final cost for all of this was $108, you have to be kicking me right!! My normal nail salon in Orlando usually costs me $70 and the results are sooo much better. If I were you I would skip this place entirely! Will never return here ever! Complete waste of my time and money! read more

usually love this place, go here after work for a quick lip wax and they always do a really good job but today I had a new lady, I think her name was jenny? something with a J. anyway she was so fast and that's a good thing but she didn't do any after care. just stuck the wax on, ripped it off and sent me on my way. my lip is all sticky now because she didn't wipe anything off with the baby oil or aloe they usually use. disappointed but will probably go back since it's so close to my work. read more

I told the lady that I wanted a Classic ($26), she nodded. I get to the end of the pedicure and to pay and it's $30. I ask why, I got classic. They said it was for the special room and chair. I've been coming here for about a year. In the beginning every thing was amazing. They asked if you wanted something to drink and they made you feel comfortable. I normally ask for someone specific, but she wasn't available the last two times I've gone in for a pedicure. I've had Vanny and Mimi (I think that was her name). Do not let these people touch your feet! Vanny didn't trim my nails short enough and later I got ingrown toe nails. Mimi did a half hearted job from the massage to painting. This is a great location, with a decent selection of services and colors. I had a regular nail tech who was amazing, and if she was still there it would be 5 stars. Since she left, I have had over a dozen others and I wouldn't want to request any of them again. If I'm paying $40-45 for a pedi (without any polish), I would expect a little more attention elsewhere. I got spoiled with a tech that always did the nail shaping perfect, was GREAT at hangnails on the occasional chance I had one, and the massage was wonderful. I would really not recommend this place. Every time I make an appointment here they take me late. I kept coming back because I would go to the same girl and I thought she was nice and did a good enough job. The last two times I've been here it has been a disaster. For example, I saw Jenny for my nails the other day. I have gel nails on for the purpose of them to be long and I always get them square with rounded edges. I asked for them to be slightly shorter. She filed them down and then made them completely round. When I saw that I said that I don't want them round, please make them square with round corners like I asked and like I had came in with. She then had to file them so much to get them back to square they are non existent. Not only is the shape still bad but I don't have any nails left!! Why would I spend money on gel nails only to have them all filed away!? She could tell I was unhappy and I told her they were way too short and SHE yelled at ME and told me it was my fault for asking for them shorter. But when she initially made them a little shorter the length was fine. I then got charged $3 for her cutting them down!! When I explained that she didn't cut them down she just filed them into oblivion the girl at the register just looked at me blankly and didn't say a word. This place is over priced as it is, don't nickel and dime customers for things most nail places do for free. Especially when all Jenny did was file them to death! read more
