I also recommend purchasing plátano macho it is delicious .Also , I wouldn't suggest getting a raspado , they are not the greatest and way to sweet . More fructose than actual ice . Parking is tight and small with not a lot of spaces. Once I walked in to the deli I understood why all the parking spaces were taken. Everyone was in this deli/diner! They take phone orders so you can ask for whatever you want before you get there and good thing I did. Also, they take cards for payment which is a good thing to know if you're close to the border! I went to 3 different taco shops in Chula Vista/ Otay and they all just took cash. Their rolled tacos come in 4 or 6. I placed my order for 4 to go. Looking around at the menu I would deff dine in if I wasn't in a rush and if I was a lot more hungry. They have sooooooo many choices. Everything looks delicious and refreshing esp on a hot summer day. This place is a deli but I got the feel of a Mexican I hop type thing with every Mexican refreshment you can think of with a side of tosilocos for appetizers. My sister was having a brunch themed baby shower and we really wanted cafe de olla ! My co worker told me she liked the cafe de olla from here and thought fersure the staff here would be nice enough to sell me a whole olla and of course she was right ! Worst customer service. I was CHARGED $7 for a bag of Tostitos with just chile chamoy and limon. To be clear, it was a miscommunication. My favorite place! Always order the "mitad y mitad" half carne asada fries & half chips and they're super good. Makes it different from other places because they add nacho cheese and beans. So here's the deal. This place has good food. Fair service. But it seems as though the cook doesn't give a crap about what you want or how you want it. When you're paying good money for something, the least he/she could do is give you what you ordered. Make it the way you want. Example: my wife always orders the chilliquiles--EXTRA CRUNCHY. One time, just once it was right. Every time after that soggy and nasty. A few times she couldn't eat it. Like the cook just said f-u. Then when we complain the waiter or waitress. They say Sorry but maybe next time. Well no. No more. Now you've lost a customer. Really I'm sad about it too because either the owner doesn't know or worse doesn't care. I need to break this review in 3 different parts because I come to this place to buy acai bowls, water for my house, and sometimes I have dinner here. Acai bowl: I'm brazilian!!! So I'm very picky when it comes to my acai bowl. You know how to make it or you don't; that is it! And here, they KNOW how to make the best acai bowl in San Diego, Brazilian style!!! As far as I can tell all staff is Mexican but they know acai! I have tried acai bowls everywhere in town, and I couldn't find anything like this one, even at Brazilians restaurants! Water: they offer water retail, which is so clean and nice!!! Much better than the street machines you see around town. You can just bring your gallons and serve yourself. The price is great too! Dinner: I'm not big on Mexican food. But, everytime I try something here I like it! So, I just happen to really like this place. I remember going to this place when it was just a place to fill up your 5 gallon jug, now its everything but the water. They still sell purified water for .30¢, in addition to it though they have all the mexican treats you can think of. I love their Tostilocos, they fruit is cold and they always add lots of chamoy. They have raspados, ice cream, and all types of mexican food. They take debit cards but it has to be $5 or more, but when you get there try spending less than that. This place is known to most of the locals in Chula Vista as "The Water Store" since that's what it was mainly back in the day. Now they still sells water but the Mexican (REAL) food and treats are what most people come here for. Not to mention their HUGE variety of Raspados and my fave, the Tostilocos. This place is great. The food is fantastic and the people are nice. Beware when they are busy the wait can be a little long but it's well worth it. Lunch time is always crazy so go during non peek time. They have to go menus in Spanish and English. So, if you must, you can call in your order ahead of time and go pick it up when you're ready. Please keep in mind that my first chamango was from Teresita's Fruiteria so I only have that as a reference as to what a chamango is. I found Vanessa's to be more slushee than anything else and I couldn't really taste my mango more of the chamoy. I've been wanting to try a Chamango and since my boyfriend and I were going to be in the CV area, I asked him to take me here. I really didn't know what to expect to be honest since I have never had one before. For $3.25 you get a pretty decent size. It was really icy, and had a tamarind flavor. I loved the sweet, salty, spicy taste to it. I am kind of skeptical as to whether or not I really got a Chamango, but whatever it is I got, it was delicious lol read more

The food here is great. The you have a lot to choose from, anything you want, in the Mexican range. S far as the food goes they get a 4 star. Now the service here sucks ass!!! They do not greet you when you walk in, and they make you feel as if they are doing you the favor for serving you. A medium juice costs nearly $5!!! Compare that to Frutas which is only a few blocks down, you get a medium for $3.50!!! Or even Tropical Oasis, which is $4.50, last I checked, but not $4.90!!! Store states it closes on Saturday's at 9:30pm. I arrived at 9:14pm and one of the employees moping the floor looked up and I asked to order she said we are closed. Mind you the door was opened and there was people sitting eating inside. I asked well dont you close at 9:30 she looks at another employee and ask her do we still close at 9:30. The other employee states no on Saturday's we close at 9 and we cant take your order anymore. This deli should have proper opening/closing times. Employees should know when they close. read more

I've been coming here since 2009. Wow how they have grown as a business. The best thing is that the great customer service and delicious food has not changed. When I moved to Chula Vista I was looking for a quality taco shop to eat at. I definitely found it at Vanessa's. I tried their carne asada fries and one of their ice cappuccino's and it was literally some of the best food I have ever had from any taco shop in all of San Diego. The only reason I won't give them the full five stars, is simply because their food was rather expensive... A cappuccino cost a little under 5 bucks, which is more expensive than Starbucks and seemed a little ridiculous to me. But it was pretty good. The other reason is that the staff is rather slow. I waited for about ten minutes to get my order when there was no one else waiting, which compared to other places is very slow. Otherwise, this place is really good! read more

Okay so my second time at this establishment and I've yet to be disappointed. I had their huarache supreme with al pastor($9). Meat was very flavorful and comes with the works. I also got some cuerilocos that were soooo yummy($6)! My Nana got the flautas with rice and beans and she really enjoyed them, can't recall the price sorry!
