Patel genuinely cares and is not in a rush to get to the next patient, something that seems to be rare these days.

The initial assessment was very nice, there were only a few people there (went to Dunwoody location), and the doctor that did the assessment was extremely knowledgeable and wonderful at explaining everything. I had to go to the Galleria location because they had the more specialized laser for my horrible prescription. I wasn't really nervous, but excited to finally have the procedure. I was a bit put off at first (not to the point I'd reconsider) by the sheer amount of people there for Lasik-- and ONE doctor. It's definitely a mill. They must make a fortune. Second, I was put off by the doctor. He looked really rough-- like a homicide detective or military captain. Like he's been beat up a lot and doesn't shy away from a good fist fight (LOL). He smiled a lot, to make me feel more comfortable, but he didn't really try to answer my questions and seemed annoyed (some of the things he said to expect were NOT what the doctor who did the assessment said-- he didn't have any interest in hearing it). All said, he did know how to use the laser and corrected my vision just fine. The surgeon is just one of many of the cogs in the wheel, there is no patient-doctor relationship, and they make it very impersonal and sterile to manage expectations (IMO).

I chose Dr. Hamilton and am delighted that I did. He exemplifies professionalism and his interpersonal skills are outstanding. His competence, caring and compassion are evident in the manner in which he communicates - taking whatever time is necessary to answer every single question I asked before and after the surgery. I never felt rushed nor made to feel like "just another patient". Dr. Hamilton performed both surgeries flawlessly and my vision is perfect. For the first time in over 40 years I no longer need to wear distance glasses - this is simply thrilling! A word, too, about his staff which similarly exudes professionalism in an impeccable, friendly and courteous manner. This environment is created at the point of scheduling appointments and carries through the various eye exams and the pre- and post-op surgical procedures. The business administration component was also efficiently taken care of - it was seamless. All to say, I highly recommend Dr. Hamilton as your ophthalmologist - he is meticulous! If you're looking for a doctor who has something of a bedside manner, or even a modicum of respect…read moreand listening skills, Dr. Brody IS NOT YOUR GUY. The person who referred me had said, "He's a smartass, but he's good". I had hoped to be a candidate for the TRIFOCAL LENS that I'd heard was so transforming. I was not, and I'd still need reading glasses post surgery. My decades old Radial Keratotomy surgery had left scars on my eyes, and that left 2 other LENS options. I opted for the TORIC LENS surgery, and scheduled the surgeries for each eye. I saw 2 other drs. for my 2 followup appts. for logistics reasons, and another with Dr. Brody on July 18th. We had a cruise departing Aug. 18th, and I wanted to know how much my eyes might CONTINUE TO ADJUST post surgery. It was clear, as anticipated, that I would need reading correction, but my distance vision had been really off during our drive there. His answer, "You just had RK surgery". I looked at him blankly, quite confused, and tried again to ask my question. From no more than 2 feet away, he barked, "WHAT?! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT RK STANDS FOR?!" I answered that it stood for Radial Keratotomy, then looked at my husband and asked, "What is he talking about?" My husband said to Dr. Brody, "You keep saying that she just had RK surgery. She didn't. She had Toric Lens surgery." Without an apology or change in tone, his response (I kid you not), "SHE JUST HAD RK/TORIC LENS SURGERY", a procedure you won't find in any of Woolfson Eye Institute's glossy brochures, and clearly something he made up to cover his gaffe. His demeanor was nothing short of menacing and humiliating. I can easily say that in my 73 years, I have NEVER been treated so disrespectfully and unprofessionally, by anyone in the medical field. That appt. was on July 18th, 2025, and I still wonder if it was all worth it. The absence of cataracts is great. And that is likely all that should have been offered to me. Sometimes, the most accurate thing to say is, "We don't have anything for you, given the scars on your eyes, beyond cataract removal" My floaters are much more pronounced, and oncoming headlights at night are jarring. I wear my new glasses/prescription all of the time, and will go back to my previous optometrist for future needs. While most of the staff may be awesome (including Surgical Coordinators, Jennifer and Amelia), Dr. Brody should be avoided. His ego precedes him.

Been having issues with my annual prescription since December. Every time i go try the glasses on, the prescription doesn't work. For this reason, two months ago I ordered a copy of my old frame so at least i can transfer my current lenses. I thought that would at least solve the issue temporarily since they have not gotten it right with the new glasses, but to my surprise i was told there is no note any where of my frame being requested or ordered, neither of my many failed visits. The lady on the phone was very rude and kept saying we have not picked up the glasses since january, and whoever saw us before is not working there any more. As if it is our fault an employee leaves. Where are the notes? Where are the records of patients' visits? Do they go away with the former employee? Or they are just very unprofessional and try to cover it up saying some one who doenst work there any more is getting my prescription wrong for the third time? Not to mention they got over $1,000 from my insurance in this last appointment, and i still paid over $200 out of pocket for something i havent even received yet. Very very done with this people after being a loyal customer for many years. The current team is totally different from before

Dr. Shaw is very professional and knows his stuff. It took about 3 hours all together, which is pretty standard. I was impressed that they did not one, but three separate refraction tests with three different people to check my prescription and make sure the measurements were accurate. They also did a tear production test because of concerns about dry eyes--another place I had a consultation at did not even note that I had this issue. The Surgery -- The total process of checking in, prepping, doing another refraction test, and the surgery itself took about an hour and fifteen minutes. Everyone was again very nice and welcoming, and between the Valium and the Sharper Image massage chairs in the waiting room I was feeling about as relaxed as possible before a surgery. The surgery itself was very quick, and Dr. Shaw and his assistant Connie were great about giving clear directions and explanations about what was going on. Loved the little care package they give with directions for care and your follow-up visit the next morning, eye drops, sunglasses for the ride home, and a flexible pair of plastic glasses/eye shields for sleeping and showering. The Results -- I went home, put in the prescription eye drops, and went to sleep as directed. When I woke up I could already see much more clearly. The next day was about the same; maybe a bit better. It takes a while to stabilize but I'm happy with the results so far. The morning-after follow-up appointment was very quick. Overall -- Very pleased with my experience at Eye Consultants of Atlanta / Piedmont Better Vision! Everyone has been great, and I have felt very well cared for. I would not have heard about this place (nor been able to afford to have Lasik done here) if I hadn't seen the nCrowd coupon. Thanks, Dr. Shaw, for a great surgery and great experience! Will definitely refer anyone I know who is looking at Lasik.

Cons: terrible parking; impersonal conveyor belt service, graceless signage in lieu of personal communication; sketchy services, deceptive sales. Had to circle lot several times to find spot; others had made creative spots in the back. Walked in and was greeted by signs and terminals to check in myself. Went upstairs to follow more signs to empty waiting area. No receptionists there either. Ultimately still arrived a few minutes early. Obnoxiously, the 'turn cell phones off' signs are more clearly marked than the multiple, multiple, homemade signs with all-caps, red, bold, italic, underlined, and highlighter-marked text to go here, sit here, wait here, queue here, pay here. The building is dated, cluttered, and unprofessional inside, and papered with homemade signs instead of helpful staff. In fact, the staff you do see will not interact unless you (wait in line to) initiate, and then you might just get pointed to a different line or have a sign's text regurgitated back at you. No welcomes, no smiles. The waiting room had no magazines, but did feature a large television--that only played advertisements. Gratefully, an assistant called me back quickly, which was the first actual person who spoke to me. I inquired about the potential wait, and referenced these Yelp reviews. She seemed startled and indicated she had noooo idea they are so poorly reviewed (ha). As my exam began, she conspicuously wiped off chin bar of eye equipment with alcohol swab as I sat, saying they normally do it after a patient but that she likes to do it just prior to new patient. My previous opticians have had disposable tissues on that area. We had to wait on the wet alcohol to dry. Room was disorganized with spare equipment stacked about and more signs (lol). Sketchy. Did not offer to do digital scan vs eye dilation drops. When I inquired, they convinced me that dilation was way better since I had only done digital for last several years. After dilation, the assistant noted that other offices have instant reversal drops, but not this office. Gee thanks. In hindsight, the photo equipment was on the first floor, so maybe it was just inconvenient for them or was not their billable, or both. The actual optometrist, Dr. Kim, was efficient, thorough, and provided great detail into my exam, especially as it pertains to my medical history. That was really great. Would recommend him, for sure. They did provide a printed copy of my Rx, but I did ask for it at the beginning, so I am not sure they would if you didn't think to ask. The second star is purely for my interaction with the doctor. Otherwise this would be a one-star review. Back downstairs, follow more signs to go up, pay here, etc. found my way to frames sales, had to back up and deal with another self-check in terminal. Found a pair of beautiful frames I loved (Prada) within the first 3-4 I tried, which was awesome. Helped right away by a sales gal, who helpfully provided the measurement numbers and info that I need to order more frames online (e.g., pupillary distance, seg height). However, when it came time to pay, it turns out she had automatically added a $180 premium Crizal coating, and $35 edge polishing to my lenses without mention, discussion, or option! With insurance, and after ditching the coating and unnecessary edge polish (but still with glare reduction), my glasses were almost $800, which is 50% off the total (transition bifocals, high-index lenses, premium frames). Absolutely gobsmacked they would tack on $200 of extras without even a mention. The sales person didn't even pretend to appear guilty or apologetic. Additionally, I specifically asked if there was an insurance policy automatically added on as well, but in hindsight I never really got a straight answer and my receipt is not itemized. Finally, they will not book multiple family members on the same day, which is frustrating and inconvenient. Yikes, yikes, yikes. This is easily the least customer-centric medical practice I have ever used; I won't be back next year.
