Although Jezelle was knowledgeable of the shoes we found her rude, sarcastic and demeaning. She was too busy rushing us to try on the shoes because her finance was in the store. We spent a total of 15 minutes in the store. My boyfriend said he wore a certain size and she kept telling him to buy a different size. She was not listening to us. She should not be a salesperson. Sales people are respectful and helpful. It was one of the worst shopping experiences ever had. read more

I've lived in the SB now for ten years and this was my first time going inside this shop...probably because I've pretty much outgrown casual tennis shoes and it would look pretty silly if I rocked these shoes with a pencil skirt and blouse to work. However, I had to buy my daughter all white tennis shoes for her hip hop dance recital so hubby actually suggested that I come here....totally forgot they existed even though I drive by them every day on my way to work. They had exactly what I needed, classic, all white lace ups in a kids 10 for $35. I even got suckered into unicorn vans and a reusable tote bag. Anyway, $80 later, I had a happy little Kid with Unicorn shoes that could make her jump higher than any of her other shoes. Service was great. The two guys helping me were very patient with my daughter, friendly and very mellow. They have some really creative prints now unlike the canvas and suede ones they had back in the 90s. Came here to get my first board and maybe shoes as well. Stock here is good. Parking in rear. Customer service wasn't good. Even though I was there to buy a skateboard with my money for myself- I was 90% ignored. All questions were directed to my boyfriend even though I was clear the board was for myself and I was purchasing AND that I had questions. Responses to my questions were also not directed at me. Very odd experience- would give even less stars but I'm sure other staff must be friendlier. Wanted to try on shoes but no one asked me if I needed help even though I was looking around the (small) store. If you don't enjoy your job or your customers... why are you there? Not sure if I would return due to the service but they had a variety of shoes, boards, hats, sunglasses etc that were pretty awesome. read more

I had the wonderful pleasure of stopping in last week. Jasmine, or Jaz for short, helped me out. Jaz is quick and efficient, as well as personable and relatable. In customer service, your words and body language mean everything. Jaz helped me with the sizes of shoes I requested with a smile on face and even helped me build my skateboard. It was a pleasing experience to engage with all the associates. Manager was top tier awesome. 10/10 store cleanliness. Everything was folded and organized. When I was a kid all the cool kids had custom made Van's....I was not one of the cool kids. Then years went on and many quit wearing Vans. I purchased some shoes from their Redondo store for my son but they were not the traditional style. Then I notice this new big store in Hermosa and I thought....really...another Vans? Is there a demand for them? So I walked in here yesterday and they do have the old school or is it skool Vans and newer styles too but they mostly have clothing for guys and girls as well as skateboards and all accessories. BTW I looked up the history of Van's and they first opened in Anaheim in 1966. read more

A Van's store in Hermosa Beach, what could be more perfect? It's like the two were made for each other. like peanut butter and jelly or peas and carrots...okay, you get it. The store is a relatively big store (ie a bit bigger than a Vans store you'd find in a mall). They've got a nice selection of women's, men's, kid's and babies styles to choose from. The store also carries a nice selection of men and women's clothing. Beware girls, though your shoe choices might be a bit less than the dude's, we definitely have a better selection of clothing. They've got cute clothes, and not just the stuff with their logo plastered across the front (though they have that too). I'm sure you'll be able to find something you like whether it be a sweatshirt or a pair of socks. The staff are made up of teenagers all dressed for the part of working in a mainstream 'skate shop'. There's parking in the back so its no trouble finding a place to park your ride. Be sure to check out this Vans store if your in the market for some new sneakers. I was just in this store and was treated so kindly and with an extraordinary amount of patience. My son was really not cooperating with me and the employee who helped me brought me 6 pairs of shoes, trying to help me and two other people at the same time. The girl who rang me up was telling me how my son was just fine and rang me up telling me about her nephews. Every time I come to this store the employees are so nice and helpful. Great sales associate! I took my 1 year old son here to find shoes. He has a narrow size 4 foot that's hard to shop for. We went to the vans store in hermosa beach to find a pair that fits. The sales associate sized his foot and to our surprise, vans had a whole display full of shoes that were his size AND all the options we liked were in STOCK! (Very rare) We ended up leaving with two pairs of shoes in less than 15 minutes. We call that a success!! read more

I never knew this hidden gem existed until I drove by one day. Finally had the opportunity to visit yesterday, 12/13/2020 and all I can say is WOW!!!! This is the BEST Vans store I have EVER been to....mind you I've been wearing Vans since elementary school way back in the 70's! So I had an issue with my daughters shoes. After only having them for a month, the buckle had broken off. So I called the customer service and was kindly told to go to my local store with the receipt for an exchange. I went to the Hermosa Beach location and Jacob assisted me and was very nice and friendly! He did an exchange with NO issues. Even apologized for the whole thing. Literally the worst customer service ever every single time I come here. Store being run by absolute morons. You're telling me you can't go to back get check a shoe size because the other 4 employees are in back just hanging out (personally witnessed) so you don't communicate that you need help in the front, you don't look the shoe size I asked for, and you abandon you the customer you're helping to ring up another customer. I truly wonder how many van employees it takes to screw in a light bulb. The actual manager really needs to finish her maternity leave. read more

Possibly the worst shoe to wear for skateboarding. The heels are narrow, causing instability and almost guaranteed ankle sprains. The canvas uppers develop holes during your third or forth ollie or kickflip. I thought they were cool when I was younger so I wore them all the time, now my poor ankles crack and pop constantly. Maybe a skateboard logo on the tongue was a bad choice. Anyway, they do look cool, and I like all of the color options. If you're looking for a skate shoe, these are about as good as high heels, so look elsewhere. read more

Probably the worst service I've ever had at a retail store. Place was empty and when they assisted me they made me feel as if it was a bother for me to be asking. Ended up spending ~$70 on shoes and socks I needed, but wish there was another store close to me I could have gone to instead. Ridiculously rude.
