This was my first visit to Van's since my college days (decades ago). It definitely lives up to the hype. Ambiance: This location in Moore is very friendly and spacious. There is plenty of parking and the restaurant is easy to access from I-35. They even offer a drive thru for those that really don't want to get out of your car. Service: The staff was very friendly and helpful. It makes for a relaxing dine-in experience. Food came out pretty quickly after ordering from the counter. Food: The meats are good, especially the pork ribs. Recommend eating them without sauce because the bbq rub is that good. The thin brisket slices dried out quickly and were not as tender as how I would smoke a brisket. The pulled pork was flavorful, but a little on the dry side, too. The smoked turkey was flavorful, but also dried out quickly. Of all the sides, my favorites were the potato salad and fried okra. Both were fresh and not over seasoned. The sweet tea is delicious. In summary, I highly recommend this Van's Pig Stand and happy they are still smoking meats after all these decades. read more

We have tried Van's Pig Stand in Norman previously, and this was our first visit to the Moore location. We arrived around 8:15 pm (plenty of parking) and ordered a two-meat combo with pulled pork and burnt ends (which we were excited to try), along with a side of potato salad and green beans. There were plenty of tables as they close at 9 pm. A few minutes after placing our order, we were informed that they had run out of burnt ends, which was disappointing. We substituted brisket instead, and although we requested marble brisket, it was extremely dry and overall not enjoyable. Unfortunately, this meal did not meet our expectations. It would be helpful when the kitchen informs cashier when certain meats were sold out so then customers won't be disappointed. read more

The bbq is very good. The carrot cake is delicious, too. We ordered a smoked turkey a few days ahead and it turned out delicious. It was placed in a box complete with the plastic oven bag and bag tie similar to a crockpot bag. Plus, it came with instructions for warming the turkey. You can bring your own bird in or order through them for smoking. The turkey has a wonderful smokey flavor and the best thing is they do it for you. I'm glad it is apple or hickory and not mesquite wood. That has a very odd taste to me. read more

Kids and I went to what is known as a significant piece of history of my youth, Vans Pig Stand. But this location is in Moore, my first time eating here since maybe 1997. This location has a good amount of seating. You come in, order your food and then choose where to sit...tables booths, large options are available for large groups. You get your drink from the soda or tea machines. Yea was good, not too sweet not too bland. Now, the food! I went with a classic, chopped brisket sandwich. I put the bbq sauce that was on the table on it...aw man, it was what memories are made of. The same taste, the same smell...being back in Oklahoma, having BBQ with the Oklahoma flavor that I've been missing for 23-24 years. It was great. The Mac and cheese was pretty good not gramma's, but it made a great side. The benefits are that the the noodles are firm, it's a house made sauce and you can tell it's fresh. It's just a good side. Curly fries are great. Crispy, fresh, not soggy...get a side of ranch and dip them in. My daughter said it's the best honey mustard she's ever had. Van's is a locally owned barbeque place near my house, and the family and I love it. It's rare that I find a place with a sauce I like, quality meat, and a convenient location...but this is it! The decor is cool, with powerful photos from the 1999 tornado, to the cool mural on the back wall. Definitely a great place to try when in the area. read more

We've only done take out but boy is it fabulous!! The ribs are tender and not overly sauced. The pulled pork is outta the park! They have a new item, Sliders of pulled pork with your choice of topping. Get the coleslaw!! All the sides from curly fries to potato salad are fantastic. Just haven't had anything bad here! Even the bbq chicken, which is really hard to do, is moist and great. It is pricey, but hey, it's meat and meat it expensive these days. Worth every penny!! Give it a try! read more

I've lived in Moore for probably about 10 years and this is the first time I had vans!! I worked at earls in high school so just never really had a need or want to try it. I've been missing out!!!! Oh my gosh! I got 2 Loaded potatoes with chopped brisket. The potatoes are huge!!! Waaay bigger then Swadly's. Bbq sauce is very tasty. Chopped brisket was super soft and melts in your mouth. I recently stopped at Van's in Moore for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. My friend Jake L. was with me. Jake and I are bbq aficionados. There are ALOT of bbq options in the Oklahoma, north Texas, Arkansas and southwest Missouri area. Jake L. And I have had the Q from many of them. There have been many times when we walk out of an eatery and Jake L. announces something like "that's the first and last time I will eat there" or "that was just like mother used to make, except she didn't defecate in it!". Jake is a funny guy, but was serious when he said that Van's is some of the best bbq in Oklahoma. Quick and very friendly service from our attendant Hannah made our meal enjoyable from a service perspective. The food was great. The fixings were awesome! Have you not had Van's relish on your pulled pork? You haven't lived!!! The restaurant is decorated with fun and unique items that tell the story of a family that has loved bbq and loved Oklahoma for years. We will be back. Friendly Staff. I ordered 2 pounds of chopped brisket. The chopped brisket was cobbled together with fresh and older brisket. Mostly dry. Van's offers the best price at 20.00 per pound of chopped brisket. Their competitors (Billy Sims, Ray's, Dickey's) are around 24.00 per pound with Rudy's at a whopping 25.00 per pound. The value is lost with a poor product. I really miss the Rib Crib. read more

Want smoked pig roast with great sides and great sauce? Come here. The place was rebuilt after being destroyed by a tornado several years ago. It's nice. It's clean. It's confusing as hell as to which door to enter to begin your purchase after dodging the outbound drive through traffic to get to the Let's Make a Deal quandary of choosing which door to open. But, oh the smell of wonderful smoky pig. As I have said before, I am a BBQ snob. I had the special, the pig sandwich, bbq beans, and a drink. After visiting the relish bar to get some additional goodies for the sandwich, we sat down at one of the many tables and booths in the place to dig in. One of the guys in our group got a bbq salad. It looked absolutely delicious and he devoured it with a smile. The sauce is available at the table. Only one kind of sauce and it's oh so good. The sandwich Was flavorful and delicious without it, but I added sauce anyway, making the meal even better. There are deserts, but I didn't get one. They looked good though and they were popular. Very disappointed. We eat at the Norman location somewhat often and it is always consistent with good food and service. This location, however, served us small portions of COLD food. We ordered a two and three meat meal. When we informed them about it, they just told us get something else. We have learned our lesson the hard way and will not be back to this location. read more

It usually takes a lot to leave a review but this has to be done. Went to Van's for dine in on Sunday, June 21. Ordered three sliders, curly fries, burnt ends. We waited over thirty minutes before we asked for a refund because one of the workers said there were no burnt ends, after THIRTY minutes of waiting for nothing. The entry to the place is all screwed up. No menus to view while in line. The worker gave no indication on how long we would have to wait. By the time I got my refund, people were ordering and were told it would be nearly an hour before they got food. Don't advertise food items if you're going to be out! If that item is not available, make it known! There's no way for workers to truly know where food goes where. All you hear is, "is this yours? Did you get this meal?" There should be names called to come up for the food or table/ticket numbers so the workers aren't clueless when bringing out food. The first Van's experience several years ago was nothing stellar. This experience was hopeful to be better. But it was worse. There's no order to the place. By the time we left, there were over twenty people either waiting for food to go or in line plus over fifteen cars in the drive thru not knowing they would probably be waiting until midnight to get their food. read more

The restaurant was disgusting! food was all over the floor and the tables were dirty. I was hoping at least the service and food would be redeeming. Unfortunately it was not. The service was terible the cashier was rude and our server was awful not once did he check up on us or make sure we were having a good experience. And the food? TERRIBLE! it was extremely fatty and sloppy, my husbands food was COLD, and everyones fries tasted old and soggy!!! Not a bad spot for barbecue. The brisket is good but I do not like the brisket sliced like the deli at Walmart. Van's has pinto beans which are always good and a staple for true barbecue lovers. The desserts at Van's give them the higher grade. Delicious! Great family atmosphere. read more

Van's Pig Stand is great. I'm from a BBQ heavy city and I'd like to say I know my BBQ. I wanted brisket but considering the restaurant is called Van's "Pig Stand" I felt as if I had no choice in the matter and ordered the pig sandwich. The first thing that struck me was the hostile situation I'd created when I took my sandwich out in the office. The room was quickly overcome by the smokey BBQ smell. It was heaven. I tasted the sandwich and was very pleased. It was rich and smokey. The pork was seasoned very well and wasn't over salted. Another thing that stood out to me was the moistness of this sandwich. Most pulled pork sandwiches rely heavily on BBQ sauce to make them edible. This wasn't the case here. The meat was succulent, smokey, juicy and the epitome of what good BBQ is suppose to taste like.
