I have been to this restaurant countless times and spent thousands of dollars in here. I have brought my team from work many times as well as my family. We wanted to take my son somewhere special for his 13th birthday so we brought him to one of his favorite places. We were treated very poorly. Almost like the staff didn't believe we should be there. The music that was playing that night cursed a few times and the server snickered at me when I asked for bread again for my kids. Then to add insult to injury they added a 20% gratuity to our bill for a party of 5. I paid the bill with no issue because I always tip well. It was embarrassing to me that they added it for such a small party considering the fact that they made us feel like we couldn't afford to be there that night. Okie dokie....I was (am) pregnant walking in....now I'm having twins.....EXCELLENT food, and service. The staff all works together so well it was fluid. This was not my first time by far at a Brazilian steak house and this still exceeded any expectation I held. They were fast to come around with offerings. The choices were all excellently seasoned and to my personal liking (rare or medium at most). The salad bar was small however they had all of the best choices! Have visited VB several times , mixed feelings about the first three visits. However on the last visit Manager John approached my wife, and I at the salad bar , and had informed me the ice tea we ordered was not ready yet, and offered an alternate beverage to get started I replied certainly let me have a diet coke. We returned to the table and the waiter brought out this tiny bottle of Coke and left it on the table. I asked the manager if the tea will be ready soon then asked if they had a fountain like other restaurants. He replied no it is by the bottle for an extra $3.00 each, and I informed him that that was not acceptable. So rather then leave the bottle on the table he removed it, and had us wait for them to get their act together without a beverage. Removing the beverage was offensive since they were at fault for opening without being prepared. Over one lousy bottle of soda they have lost our business , and we go Brazilian two - three times a month. So it's back to Fogo once again. In addition every time we went here my wife informs me the commode in the restroom is broken with a plastic bag placed over it, can they not afford a plumber ? Service here is out of this world ! They are so accommodating! My mom is picky about how well her meat is cooked and they were able to get her the right cut. It's Thursday evening and it's 103. That must explain how empty they are. I absolutely loved their creamed corn. The buffet, while not large, was just excellent. I hate Brazilian buffets simply because I could fill up on so many good selections. Because there were not many people dining this evening, it felt like staff was ever present. They made me and my wife feel like royalty. I love this great place to eat. On the way out, I told staff how great everything was. One of the waiters said, "Thank you. We'll see you tomorrow." Well, I think this is a case of expectations. The Brazilian Steakhouses I have been to in Northern, CA are all very upscale places with quiet atmosphere's, even slightly romantic ambiance, with tables spaced apart for privacy. Excellent service, a wide variety of meats-- especially on weekend nights. And a large salad bar with endless options to tempt. So that's what I expected. That is not what I got. The location is facing a frontage road facing the freeway. The atmosphere is really not upscale at all, it's loud, there were many families, and the tables were very close together. Then there is the service. The hostess was great, and the server was friendly. But I kept having to flag people down to fill up my water glass, I had to hunt down someone for dessert options after I was sitting there, clearly done, for 10 minutes and finally had to place my order with someone else because they couldn't find her. Then I had to tell the server to add the dessert to the bill when she brought it cause she left it off. Every single time I had to ask about her it took her forever to come. It was not busy, because I went early. That said the gauchos were relatively good. Although I constantly had to remind them all that I wanted rare/medium rare. Not medium well. Because the server kept giving them the wrong information. Now the food. The first hint that there was going to be disappointment was the salad bar. I can't tell you how underwhelming this was. No candied bacon, only one cured meat and one cheese, and most of the options were just green salads! I think there were maybe 3 specialty salad options. It was like a supermarket salad bar at Whole Foods or the like. Also, the meat options were very limited, for my expectations. On a Saturday Night they only had 10 options offered! There were no pork ribs, and no Alcatra-- even though when I looked on their site (which I should have checked out before going) they are listed. Plus, no shrimp, no chicken hearts, no pork loin, no garlic sirloin... very basic. AND they even charge you extra for the grilled pineapple! Unheard of. The meats themselves were okay. I liked the leg of lamb and the rib eye the best. The filet was good. The lamb chops were overpowered by the marinade-- same one on the leg of lamb, but it was much lighter on the leg. And lamb chops are generally my favorite. That said, the servers were generous with their servings, probably to make up for the fact that it was the same few choices again and again. The best thing was the papaya cream dessert. It was excellent and I very much enjoyed it. Will I be back? Not for $50. For $35. I felt it was a poor value, personally. And again, I think that was my expectations. Still I can't give it more than 3 stars due to the lack of food selection and the service issues... and the ambiance. read more

Came here for my company Christmas party. If you have been to Texas De Brazil, Fargo De Chao it's along the same lines. Salad bar was good I'm a bread person and the rolls were great. Meat was great as well. They served fruit bananas mash potatoes and something else I can't remember the name. I feel like the price at this location is very high for the quality of food. We have been to many Brazilian steak house and the one VB in Richardson is by far better and less expensive. They do not offer pineapple on their menu, and forgot I ordered a second caipirinha. They also had a yelp coupon of $3 off any meal (had 7) and only gave us $3 of the entire meal. They should of honored since may bill was over $450. Very misleading and we will not be returning to this location. Their service was not bad, but definitely not worth $52 a person. read more

Met a friend here to celebrate her new position and was shocked over how small the location is. I circled 3 times before parking at On the Border's rear entrance and walked to VB. The actual restaurant was pretty small too. I immediately noticed that the majority of staff were NOT wearing masks and that shot my anxiety through the roof. I texted my friend because she hadn't made it and I was hoping that she would want to go elsewhere but she wanted to continue with our reservation here. I was escorted to our table since she hadn't arrived yet and I noticed people at the salad bar and out of maybe 10, only one wore a mask. Our server stopped by and I asked about drink orders and decided upon the passion fruit caprihinna. My friend finally arrived and ordered the same. They were strong and delicious!! We were invited to try the salad bar and we both hung back until there were fewer people ( I still had my mask on). We got our selections and returned to the table and the meat selections began. My favorite was the lamb chops! The marinade was so delicious and was like a garlic citrus flavor. I gave this restaurant a try due to my daughter graduating in the spring and the location being near the venue but after tonight, I think I'll either do something at home or check another restaurant due to staff not wearing masks and customers not being made to wear them while at the buffet. In addition, the restroom wasn't clean and there was barely soap in there. read more

Attentive service, what are those amazingly good, little, tiny, pop them in your mouth clouds of goodness of dough and cheese... I had to say stop... don't bring we anymore. So good. We had two baskets. Good! Add those to Brazilian style Old Fashions, a huge meat tray of chicken, pork, and steak and a small cheese tray... what more do you need? Meats were cooked well. I think four people could have had that for dinner. Cheese tray is only two cheeses, a little generic, but the meat tray totally makes up for it (and was a ton of meat for $22.00), especially with those sauteed onions and crostini toasts. We were not impressed because we're used to Texas de Brazil and Fago de Chao. That said, lower your expectations of that's what you're looking for. The salad bar isn't refilled often. The meat selection isn't great and they do not have many carvers walking around to bring more servings so if you see something you like get plenty. read more

We stopped because it was a new restaurant we haven't been to before. My wife pulled up the menu and pricing and it said 26.95 for dinner on Sunday night. Imagine our shock when the bill came and it was 49.95!!!! The manager tried to tell us it was a different restaurant. There are 3 VB restaurants but not differentiated. They are all the same actually but different websites. Who does that? Sounds like bait and switch. We paid the full price and the manager didn't even offer to make any adjustment in the price. As far as we are concerned they are all the same and using same website should mean same prices. Won't be back here and will tell others to beware of price changing between restaurants. I took my wife here for her birthday dinner and was really disappointed with the experience. Maybe I misread the whole situation but dinner just wasn't enjoyable for me and that's a real shame because the food was incredible. First and foremost. The food is delicious. I probably made a mistake by going too hard on the salad bar but man their selection was pretty epic. I got a Caesar salad, some pasta salad, some veggies, some beans, some stroganoff, some rice, it was all pretty awesome. Then the meats on top of it? Forget it. So good. The bacon wrapped chicken breast was my least favorite and definitely something you can skip. The pork sausage tho? Holy smokes. So good! We had dinner around six and I ate so much that I was still full around two in the morning. Now the reason for my three star review is really just the experience overall. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. The woods are dark and it has a really intimate vibe to it, but the service just didn't match the price. VB Steakhouse is pretty spendy. My wife and I don't drink but with alcohol and dinner it can get expensive. When I see this kind of price point on the menu I anticipate the service, the quality of the food, and the overall experience to match the price. Very rarely can restaurants pull off a high price point with just the food being the only reason behind it. Our server was nice, but other than taking our drink orders and occasionally asking if we were okay she just wasn't present or well prepared. Tell me about the food! What's good? What are you known for? Make some recommendations maybe? Then there was this older guy who hovered around our table to the point where I was getting uncomfortable. Maybe he was a manager? He wasn't wearing the same uniform as our server. My wife and I got there kinda early so we were the only table in the entire section of the restaurant we were seated in, and this guy was standing close enough to where we could've easily included him in our conversation. And he was just standing there watching us eat. So what I was hoping would be a nice birthday dinner with my wife, ended up being an unintentional party of three. If you're planning on eating here just to eat some quality meats, I don't think you'll be disappointed. I'll definitely be back despite the couple of things I noticed about our last meal. I just hope that next time I take my wife out on a date here I can spend more time with her and less time worried about whether the old guy observing us was feeling my tie or finding my jokes funny. read more

Came in here as a one top on a weekday a few weeks ago. Was going to sit at the bar but they don't do the full service meat rotation there so I opted to sit in the dining room. Bartender was very nice later found out he was also the manager for that night. The server was a heavy set Mexican guy super nice we talked for quite some time I want to say his name was Jonathon but I could be completely wrong it's been a few weeks. The food was nice I had to ask for my steak to be cooked rare which is ok as a lot of people eat their steak medium. Once I made the request for rare steak about 15/20 minutes later they had fresh steaks coming my way meaning they cooked them just for me to enjoy even though they weren't busy. The only thing I don't care for about this place is the tip sharing. In theory it's supposed to create teamwork and promote all servers attending to one table periodically but I also want my server to get a good tip. read more

Yesterday I went to this restaurant for the first time, and I want to start off by saying the food was exceptional. It was not only appetizing, but visually pleasing as well. The quality of the food was superior to any other brazilian restaurant i've been to. I ordered the fireball cheesecake and man, I have to applaud the restaurant for it. The presentation was AMAZING, and it tasted even better than it looked. The lighting could be better, but it fit the atmosphere. Our waiter was really kind, his name was John and he made sure we had what we needed at all time. In addition to our waiter, the manager was also friendly and regularly checked up on us. Finally, I want to acknowledge the exemplary kindness the hostesses showed to us. Unfortunately our table was not ready when we arrived, BUT the hostesses made sure to kindly update us and hastily managed to get us a table upon arriving. I didn't catch their names, but I could not have been more pleased by our greeting to the restaurant. Just the facts. Fact 1: They took an extremely long time to get to our table and subsequently, we were left looking at cold empty plates half the time. Even though my card was turned to the "green" side, I still had to flag two people and wait over 20 minutes to get a piece of chicken. Fact 2: I paid almost $400 for my family of 6 (no alcohol). One would think that in a meal that lasted 2 hours I could get more than 1 refill of iced tea, but no. 1 refill in 2 hours. Fact 3: This was a dinner party of old military friends. We were told that there was a military discount. After we get our checks, we were informed that it was ONLY for active duty. Fact 4: When I received my check, I had to send it back 3 times because I was overcharged. 3 TIMES!!! First they charged my family for an extra dessert, then they charged us for an extra meal, and THEN they charged us for extra drinks. Did I mention our check was almost $400? Well, that was only because we corrected it. It was originally well over $400 had we not paid attention to our check. Fact 4: When I asked for a discount for having to correct the check 3 different times, they told me that I could get a discount on my NEXT visit. There will be NO "next visit". Fact 5: In between each incorrect charge, the server repeatedly asked for my card so they could run it after the change. So basically, I would have been overcharged on any of those accounts were I to actually give them my card. Fact 6: We were forced to pay a 20% gratuity on extremely subpar service.
