My dog loves coming here and has received consistent friendly, thorough medical care. They successfully treated an ear infection and keep the rest of her well maintained. My dog loves the staff, and they show much love to her right back. The veterinarians are thorough and professional. We've seen all three doctors, Eddie, and Kelsey - they're all such wonderful humans to be around and trustworthy. They go over pricing and your options each time, which is always helpful to know. I was recommended VCA by Operation Kindness for my recently adopted pup and the entire process of treatment has been excellent. The interior is always kept very clean, the vet and vet techs are all very knowledgeable (and are able to communicate in clear, easy to understand terms), and the front end staff are always very kind + welcoming. This VCA location gave me such a great experience from start to finish. From scheduling to the actual visit and even the follow-up communication, everything was smooth and professional. I was truly impressed. Kyla was so friendly and answered all my questions before the appointment. She made a great first impression and set the tone for what turned out to be a wonderful visit. Montayvia was incredibly warm and compassionate. She explained everything clearly and spoke with such kindness. She even followed up with correspondence exactly when she said she would, which I really appreciated. Eddie has an amazing personality. You can tell he truly loves animals and people. My dog felt so at ease with him, which says a lot. Dr. Sager was kind, patient, and gentle. She took the time to explain everything in detail, offered thoughtful solutions, and gave my dog such attentive care. Her bedside manner is everything you would hope for in a vet. just now NEW My fiance paid for their wellness program for our puppy. We brought her in August of 2023 because she had an ear infection. They packed her ear and charged him over $300. For the SAME ear infection, he brought her in over six times over the the next few months. Each time the bill was over $200. Finally he got frustrated and asked why they couldn't seem to figure this out. They blew us off and said there was nothing they could do and it was a dermatology problem. So I found her a dermatologist and took her in. I had VCA send over all get records to the new vet. The very first thing the new vet was that VCA blew us off and it wasn't severe enough to warrant a dermatologist. They reviewed the records and VCA never bothered to culture the bacteria to find out what kind of bacteria was in there. So they kept using the same antibiotic and charging us. The bacteria she had was resistant to the antibiotics VCA used. If they'd bothered to check rather than packing her ear with the same thing every time (and charging us $300 every time), this could have been resolved in August. Here we are in January and she's had one treatment with the new vet ($63). Her ear is FINALLY clear with no black gunk coming out. I believe VCA intentionally gave her the wrong medication so we'd keep coming back and they could charge us. read more

A year ago our puppy nearly died as a result of this location. Over 20 years of having dogs, in four different cities in three different states, we've always used VCA and loved each one. That's why VCA Plano on Legacy was such a shocking and nearly devastating disappointment. They scheduled our puppy for his next round of shots with an end of day appointment. They didn't allow for the proper amount of time to monitor him. Back at home, 20-30 minutes after the appointment ended and they had closed their doors, our baby had an allergic reaction to the shots. He lost consciousness in my arms on the way to the emergency vet. Thankfully we got there in time - the ER vet said we got really lucky and we were minutes from losing him. After this experience we notified VCA Plano and they just said sometimes that happens! Well speaking with other vets, including the awesome VCA on Preston that has been our vet ever since, no this doesn't typically happen because the animal is monitored on site. We would never trust this location again. Sharing this experience today because I heard from a neighbor about issues they just had here. read more

Many things I can say here but I will stick with the main concern... Over the weekend my dog was attacked by another dog. She had an emergency surgery on Saturday and we were told by that Dr. to contact our primary vet to have the drainage tubs removed Monday. We call VCA at 8:15AM Monday morning and are told they do not have any availability today but we can book an appointment for Tuesday. They offer for us to drop her off and potentially leave her there all day but right now she can't be left unattended in a cage with the wounds/stitches she has. I get it, they are booked. But where is the support, flexibility and contingency plan for urgent issues? Absolutely ZERO empathy. Never asked, how is your dog? ZERO attempts at actual customer service. It's ok, I'll find another vet who cares. read more

I started my pup Max on the Care Club plan so this was his first official visit to start that. Everyone was friendly and great like always. They were very thorough and made Max feel comfortable. These ladies saved our Max when we first adopted him from a shelter years ago and he had parvo. We've always been impressed with their care but at times couldn't afford preventative care. After a long time of supporting this business, I've seemed to have fallen out when I needed them most. My pup had an ear issue that wouldn't seem to go away. Unfortunately they gave up on my little pup and kicked the can down the road and I had to take her to another vet clinic to get the issue resolved. Over the span of a few months and $500+ per visit for the exact same medications, the same result yielded. When I asked what we could do to change things up, I was met with the same response of antibiotic cream to try and resolve the infection- yet it didn't seem like they were interested in pursuing further research on the issue. When confronting the manager about the issue, I was met with an abrasive response suggesting that the issue is just with the dog and not something they could handle. After hearing them give up on my puppy, I found another vet that promised they'd be able to resolve the issue- this is just an ordinary vet, not a specialist. They were able to resolve this issue in a matter of a couple weeks, for $60 and the RIGHT treatment. It seems that this VCA location lacks interest in resolving issues and would rather just throw treatment out of speculation rather than research with no regard to how costly their health care may be. I'm extremely disappointed with this service and 100% do not recommend using them for anything other than regular shots and checkups. They even lied to my new vet on her documents suggesting I denied services that I was never offered. I thought they were ethically better, but it seems like they'd just protect themselves. This isn't what I expected after using them for a while. I would suggest going somewhere else to treat your fur baby. read more

I left the same review on Google... I'd been bringing all my pets here for over a decade. Dr. G. recently retired. They have new management/Vet. Today I called about a concern with my dog, who was seen just 2 weeks ago wherein I voiced the same concern as today. It's 1:30 in the afternoon on a Tuesday, the aren't interested in seeing him. Their advice "take him to an Emergency Room Vet" - which is really upsetting since, they have no records, don't know my dog or anything. My advice (which I'm following), is find a new healthcare provider for your 4 legged kids. read more

I should have written this review ages ago. Today, my cat is sitting on my lap purring as I write this. She's 17 years old. When I first came here about 3 years ago, my cat was dying. This was the third vet clinic I had taken her to. The first two were so awful, and my cat's health was rapidly declining. She was already pretty old at the time and although I didn't want to prolong her life for my own benefit, I also didn't want to give up on her if there was a chance for her to recover and continue to live a happy life. When I brought her in to see Dr Grunewald, I'll never forget when she said old age is not a disease. She explained our treatment options and answered all of my questions. She doesn't talk down to me or talk to me like I'm a child. Dr Grunewald is extremely knowledgeable. When she's explaining things to me, it's very clear that she knows EXACTLY what she's talking about. I ask questions and she always answers them, never hesitates, and you just can tell she really knows her stuff. She's very thorough and explains things in great detail... sometimes things went over my head, but she always circled back with "this is why this is important". At the time, I was completely overwhelmed trying to decide what was best for my cat. There were some things that Dr Grunewald suggested, such as ultrasounds, etc, but when I asked more questions and proposed hypothetical treatment options, Dr G was very honest about the possible outcomes and I didn't feel pressured to do any unnecessary testing. On the ones I declined, I didn't feel judged at all (some vets in the past have made me feel judged for declining a test, as if I don't care enough about my cat, when really I just don't want her poked and prodded more than necessary when the treatment would likely be the same anyway). Dr Grunewald very quickly came up with a treatment plan, and my cat's health started to improve very quickly. Over the past 3 years, we've had to adjust her medications quite a bit. One thing I really appreciate is that they don't force me to bring my cat every single time (car rides are very stressful for her) and when I have questions about a symptom or behavior, Dr Grunewald has always called me back usually by the end of the day and takes the time to explain what I should check for, etc. The office staff is always very nice and very efficient. There have been a few times when I was super stressed or upset and not very pleasant to deal with, but they have always been nothing but polite. It's always impeccably clean and all the other customers seem happy as well. I definitely checked around on pricing because I am on a budget, and I've found their pricing to be fairly comparable with several other vets. There are some things that have been slightly more expensive, but then other things have been significantly less so it all balances out. And most importantly, I have peace of mind when it comes to my elderly cat. I feel comfortable with everyone working there and I highly recommend them to any pet's human. read more

We took our dog here because after calling around several places they were the only ones who could get us in quickly on a Monday morning. Wow, were we glad to find this gem. We knew our senior dog was was ready to pass but wanted a final opinion from a vet. Dr. Kitt and her staff gave us that professional opinion and so much more - they treated us and our dog with great kindness and compassion even as my dog was too weak to move and I was losing control of my emotions. We have been clients at N Plano Animal Hospital since the 80's and have found them to be a wonderful veterinarian facility, until recently. We took our dog in for her annual heart worm injection. They informed us she would have to take a heart worm test. My husband questioned why it was necessary to do the test when the shot was supposed to protect her for a year. Their reply was it doesn't always work. My husband was about to say something else when the Manager got very firm with my husband saying we had refused it before in 2019 and we would have to have the test done, bring our dog back later to get the shot. He was very very firm in his delivery. My husband left, we contacted another vet, they said bring her in, he did the test, we waited there for results there and got the shot for a significantly less price. So, bottom line is we will not go back to what we had previously considered out vet home. And please, do not respond to this review, reaching out to us North Plano Animal Hospital with the comment "this is not the way we treat our customers, please reach out to us" cause obviously it is the way you treat your customers, maybe training in customer service with your manager would be a better choice. read more

I discovered NAPH several years ago based on a friend's referral and, four dogs later, I will never go anywhere else. Everyone from the front desk staff to the folks in the kennel area to the vets and the technicians are first class. They treat my dogs like family. Specifically, Dr. Ryan Price is the best veterinarian I have ever had. Smart as a whip, he is extremely compassionate and thorough and spends as much time as necessary to review all of your options. He has done everything for my dogs from routine exams to surgery and, unfortunately when necessary, euthanasia. He does not hesitate to call in other experts if he feels it necessary. Dr. Price is all about delivering the best care possible. I also board my dogs there when I have to travel and never worry a peep about them. They go willingly with the kennel staff and always come back happy so I know they like it there. Lastly, Courtney is an amazing groomer and does a great job. I cannot say enough great things about NAPH and the care they provide to my dogs. read more

When Bruno first moved back to Dallas from Houston, he started developing heavy allergies. He would chew on his paws non-stop to the point of bleeding and would constantly scratch the inside of his ears and whine. The North Plano Animal Hospital was pretty good about setting up a last minute appointment. I called them on a Monday morning and was able to set up an appointment for mid-afternoon on Monday. Being the overly protective pet owner I am, I asked tons of questions and Dr. Price was so patient and very thorough in his explanation of Bruno's allergies. Almost too thorough! I kept looking at the time because I still had to get back to work. He told me what symptoms to look/watch out for, in case the allergies came back or got worse, etc. Pricing for the visit and the allergy pills was pretty reasonable, but the huge bottle of allergy conditioner was pretty pricey. I know that purchasing products that you can get elsewhere (online, petsmart, etc.) will always have a high mark up, but at this point, I was willing to pay the markup so I wouldn't have to make a separate trip elsewhere. Oh well, you can't win 'em all. read more

Dr. Grunewald has taken care of three generations of our Siberian Huskies. She has been there through the births, illnesses, accidents, and deaths. She has handled everything we've ever had come up from bee stings, hit by a car, cancer, asthma, diabetes, blindness, as well as common colds and annual checkups. They have always been there for us at a moment's notice and always been up to the task. There is nobody I would trust with our dogs more than Dr. Grunewald. read more

I am one of those that took my young lab to NPAH when they first opened. We subsequently moved to Ca and eventually sadly lost dusty. After moving back to Plano and 12 years after Dusty passed away, I got a Maltese Shih tzu from Petland. I broke my warranty On the purchase as I wanted NPAH to do his neutering and care. I like how thorough all the doctors and staff are. They have accommodated me when I have an urgent need. I would not go anywhere else unless I moved away Oscar gets the best care. read more

She is the most knowledgeable Vet I have ever found and gives you sufficient information (pros and cons) for ANY decision you need to make regarding your dog's treatment. She is compassionate, listens well and treats your dog as if it were her own. Like a good internist, she researches everything and all possible causes of symptoms. (I would like to have her for an Internist!) We are impressed that she runs a tight ship, and all of her employees have been with her for years. Her technicians are well-trained, extremely nice, loyal, well informed and familiar with your dog's records/medical issues when you bring them in. It is obvious that they hold Dr. G in "high regard" as do we!! ( Can I give them 10 stars?) Our boys, Bo and Bentley love EVERYONE there!!!! read more

3 weeks ago, August 11, 2014, we took our Yorkie puppy in to be shaved. He was left with what appeared to be painful razor burns (bare skin) under his annum area behind his left ear and on top of his little ear. And worse than that the groomer also cut his beautiful long lashes!!! We took him in to our vet next day where he confirmed all this. I called the NPAHospital that same day to find out the names of the vets there so that I could write them letters to let them know how upset we were. I then hand delivered the letters to their office and have never received word from any of them including the owner. I can only imagine the torture our poor puppy endured. Needless to say I will never use their services ever again. read more
