EXCUSE THE LENGTH OF THIS REVIEW! IT IS NECESSARY. I'm going to start by saying that I've been a tad irresponsible as a dog mom. During Covid, I lived in Philadelphia. It was partially impossible to get in anywhere. As time went on, I just forgot to get him in. I moved back to the valley and did some searching, I came across VCA and read extreme counter opposite reviews... but I saw they also specialize in skin/digestion for our pets. I took a shot and went to the appointment. I can't explain how understanding, kind, amazingly knowledgeable, and GENUINELY SINCERE the staff is. I felt embarrassed/guilty that I didn't get him in to the vet sooner with his skin rashes and such, but the staff was laid back and told me not to worry, a lot of people don't come until issues occur! Now, it's evident that pricing has sky rocketed in the past several years, especially vet clinics. The pricing is definitely a tad more expensive than others, but they focus on your issues and fix it properly and make sure your furry friend leaves happy. I will forever drive the 15 miles to this vet and pay their costs for efficient, comfortable, mind easing, happy visits to come ! The treatment received there is unbelievable. I prepaid for a urine screen for my dog that they did not perform. When I asked for a refund they refused. I even agreed to a monthly subscription for an RX to off set the balance paid for no services. They refused.. said " take it up with corporate " and when I objected, told me to get the hell off the premises. read more

I have used VCA Northside for over a decade to care for my animals, 2 cats and 4 dogs.They have handled all types of issues, including general care, mast cell tumors, cancer, euthanasia etc.. They have always been kind, supportive, and professional. My Frenchie did not like his last Vet but he adored the Vet at VCA Northside animal hospital as well as the rest of the staff. Everyone treated him as if he were their own and were very knowledgeable, honest and helpful. read more

Quick update that make a big difference. Was running out of Nexgard. VCA wants to make money on their pharmacy. That's okay but it messes people up. Our new vet thankfully said just put the order in and they'll contact the vet. VCA changed their procedure that we had to either pick up the prescription or have it mailed to me and I'd send it in. So, we had a delay a couple of times. I put in the order, the Emmaus vet was called the same day. The prescription is already in the in the mail in less than several hours. It's a big relief. Very glad we changed vets. read more

This review below is not valid, scroll for new review The best animal hospital in the Valley!! The staff are all extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They always treat my little pug dog as if she's their own. We've seen a few different vets there and our dog likes them all which says a lot! They explain all procedures fully so you understand everything. I haven't had them push unneeded vaccines or diets either, which seems to happen at most animal hospitals these days. I also love their senior care package, it's helped us greatly reduce the costs associated with owning a pet. Edited****** SEE BELOW FOR NEW REVIEW*** I used to love this place when I had what they deemed a cute pug. I since rescued a pitbull. When I had my pug Layla, they would take her in a heartbeat even if they were closing within half hour. They treated her like gold. Flash forward to now. I have a pitbull instead. If you have a pitbull, stay far away from this vet. I called them at 5pm to see if they could take a quick look at my dog who had just been in a violent attack and half her face was ripped off. They closed at 8pm. REFUSED TO SEE HER. Despicable. Never again will I count on them for my pets. You should be ashamed of yourselves for turning away an extremely injured dog As for your reply. I have already been in contact with corporate office. It seems I'm not able to cancel my care club agreement and will be stuck paying almost $300 to get out of a contract, for services THEY REFUSED to provide. 5 Stars for staff; they were very friendly and provided great care to my dog; however, I think the price to treat the ear infection was high at $264.87. Exam: $87.00, $92.65 for ear cleaning, $42.42 for single dose drug ($18 online), $42.80 for anti-inflammatory pills ($10 online). They did inform about the price of the visit with all costs associated with the infection, but after later researching the drug prices I called to ask if I could return the pills because they were too expensive to maintain monthly, especially because he is on other meds for arthritis. Of course, you can't return them. I don't understand the $92.65 for cleaning his ears, but I didn't really have a choice read more

I am a new client and I was impressed with the service I received. Our first cat visit went very smoothly. We met Jessica outside our car and she was very kind to us. A few days later I had follow up questions over the phone and Jessica happened to answer the phone and took the time to answer them. Her compassion, kindness, and upbeat attitude make her a real gem at this hospital. They are truly lucky to have her. As a first time client I received a welcome bag with goodies and informational pamphlets. There is a wealth of information in there and I'd encourage any client to take the time and actually read the information provided. I can tell the welcome bag was carefully thought of and includes anything and everything you might want to know about cats and their care. What a job well done! read more

VCA Northside has been our pet healthcare provider for roughly eighteen years. They have supported us through the complete lifecycle of our cat and two yellow labs. Their professionalism over all those years was matched by their caring approach. We are posting this review because we recently had to say goodbye to our last pet, Abby, a yellow lab. This was a gut wrenching experience and the VCA Northside team saw us through it all with incredible professional commitment and dedication to supporting the emotional stress of this final responsibility as a loving pet owner. This vet was recommended to me and I have had several very positive experiences with them to date. The staff have been incredibly friendly and take the time to answer all my questions and assist in any way they can. I had an emergency when my puppy consumed chocolate and they talked me through it over the phone and called the next day to check on him. My puppy's recent surgical procedure went smoothly, and everything was explained to me both verbally and comprehensively in writing. I have lived in the area for 3 years and this is the third vet I have tried. Neighbors spoke highly of them so we gave them a try and we were very happy. This office is so well-run with appointment times honored. The staff is wonderful from the front desk to the friendly vet tech and the vet. They make our dog excited to be there by playing with him, giving treats, and even sitting on the floor to interact with him. They always spend a lot of time with us, patiently answering our questions. It is a pleasure going to this vet. read more

Being new to the area this was the first veterinarian's office I tried out. I will not be returning. When the vet walked in, I was dressed more professional than she was so I was confused if this was even the vet. The first thing the vet did when she walked in was "try" and correct the way I was handling my own dog, she didn't even introduce herself. Apparently simply holding onto your dogs leash when the vet walks in is teaching the dog that they should be afraid of the vet and that they should not approach them. Sorry I don't allow my dogs to jump on people. They also ended up giving my puppy about 20 treats during the visit and I'm not exaggerating. To top it off, when the vet administered the vaccination my puppy needed, some of the vaccination squirted out. Meaning she apparently did not administer the vaccination the correct way because that should not happen. When the vaccination squirted out she said she didn't understand why a puppy needs the same amount of vaccination as a grown dog... well... anyone in the medical field can explain that...or SHOULD BE ABLE to explain that. Due to the great turnover of doctors, I was not feeling the comfort I was used to receiving in the past, especially in my most recent visit. I had an appointment with a doctor I never had before, and will never have again. Her professional demeanor was the turning point of my decision to look for another place to care for my pet. Our youngest decided it was a good idea to use a small, rubber super-ball while playing fetch with our dog. She swallowed it, and it blocked her bowel movements. A day or two after she had not pooped, we decided to take her to VCA Northside. They were able to schedule us in quickly and easily. When I arrived to drop our dog off, we were offered coffee in the waiting room, and the staff was exceptional, professional, and very friendly. Dr. Keener did a fantastic job with our dog. Our dog experienced next to no discomfort after the surgery (to our observation), and recovered very quickly. The prices we were quoted from other vets were all more expensive than we paid VCA, and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. Highly recommended to you and yours truly. The doctors and most of the staff are exceptional, however I have only been to the hospital twice and I will not go back. My first visit was for moral support helping a friend put his dog to sleep. The staff was understanding and very caring but the hospital manager was more concerned about "settling up" (she said) before the service was performed. I understand its a business, but at a sensitive time it is bad taste to act greedy. Its just rude and unethical as I watched my friend shuffle to counter scrambling for his wallet, with tears in his eyes as his dog was about to take his last breath. She then called the dog by the wrong name as she superficially apologized for the circumstance. First impressions can be deceiving so after adopting our puppy Gigi, my husband and I decided to try VCA NH again. When we arrived, the same employee was sitting at the check in area. We were greeted professionally and were quickly asked how we would be paying for our visit. We were hassled discreetly for our email after declining THREE TIMES!! Trying to convince us of "good deals" and "promotions" is NOT a selling tool. Our pets are part of the family, not objects. Waiting for the nurse to take us for our turn, I observed massive disorganization of all sorts of papers, files, magazines in plain site at the front entrance. The other staff members were working very hard WITHOUT a helping hand from management. They all looked exhausted, answering a busy phone, and sending home pets that had surgery that day. The doctor was great with Gigi, and the nurses spent as much time as they could even though so understaffed. Sadly, we are not interested supporting a hospital with such poor management and lack of concern for the staff. read more
