    Shrimp and Potato Tacos
    Devin G.

This food truck is pretty good. According to their website schedule, they have 3 trucks and I happened to try #3. The shrimp and potato tacos were pretty good. I love a hard taco dorados style taco and these did not disappoint. The salsa went well with them as well. I would definitely order them again. The shrimp pupusa that I tried was solid. I preferred the tacos but it did make me want to try more of their pupusas. I'd like to try the mango ceviche as well (was sold out), and I heard their pan con pollo that they sell at other locations is pretty good. I will definitely give them another try when their food truck is back.

We definitely made a mistake dining here. To start the food is extremely pricey, over $100 on food for four people and only one person got a drink. The wait was really really long, after ordering it took at least 40 minutes for all of us to get our food. The service was fine, nothing to complain about there. We assumed the food would be good since there was a long line and a lot of people waiting for their food but I guess that's explained by how long they take to get food out. There were two orders of sliders, one order of pupusas, and an order of carne asada fries. 3/4 items were wrong. We were given the incorrect drink, one of the sliders had fries that were too salty, the other slider had no salt and was made wrong, the carne asada fries were lacking any salt and were weirdly sweet, the meat was really tough and the cheese reminded me of the Mexican blend shredded cheese, and the pupusas were the wrong ones and weren't like other pupusas in texture. Most of us ended up throwing out the food after just picking at it. The only person to eat a chunk of their food which were the pupusas has been suffering through food poisoning. Overall was a bad experience and I wish I would have checked out reviews before ordering.

I love pupusas!!! This was my first time trying this trick. I was at the Topanga Vintage Market that occurs every 4th Sunday at Pierce College. There was only one guy working this truck and there were long lines so service was what it was. He could only do what he could do and he did a great job. My pork cheese pupusa was great. I added jalapeños which made it extra tasty. The sauce and slaw that comes with it was the perfect pair. I can't wait to try a different one the next time.

So my bf and I originally went out here in North Hollywood for Kogi but this Pupusas truck was right behind it so we decided to grab some as well. There were no other customers, maybe because it was still a little early (around 5:30pm). We placed our order and didn't wait long before they called our name. We took our order to go to enjoy at home with our other food. My bf got the pork, cheese, and bean one while I got the pork and cheese one. We added our toppings and enjoyed it. We've both had it before from our friends/coworkers so it wasn't anything new to us. I personally don't remember what they tasted like which is why I went and got one on top of my other food truck order LOL. Tbh I liked it but didn't love it but my bf really enjoyed it. Corn flour just doesn't do it for me. I think it's mainly the texture because flavor-wise, it was delicious! But half way through, I was already done with it. I much prefer flour over corn but it was good regardless. They had a lot of other items on their menu that looked really good! Not sure how often they're at this spot but will definitely come back to try their other items, especially those plantains! IG: @ammysalamii

I hired VCHO for a company sponsored event for my 2,100 employees over a four-day period. What a phenomenal event Wendy and team hosted for my 1st and 2nd shift team! Our staff was so pleased with the freshness of the food for the number of associates they were serving. Everything was packaged nicely and very appetizing. The whole team was polite, worked quick and made everyone feel welcomed. I would 100% hire the VCHO team to cater my next event.

Vchos Truck drove out to USC for a campus-sponsored event, and I had the chance to try pupusas for the first time! Both my friend and I's order was prepared very quickly; within just one minute of placing it, our food was ready. The person who took our order was also quite friendly. It was a cool experience to have them on our lively campus.

Vchos was at the night market at Yamashiro's and it seemed like the best option out of a not very good field of also rans. Pupusas, easy choice, right? A tortilla stuffed with pork and cheese what's not to like? I couldn't wait to dive into a warm pillow of meat and cheese. The pupusa was kind of flat, if you look at my photo you'll see what I'm talking about. Maybe it's because I didn't go with the full pork, bean and cheese option but it came with a side of beans so it seemed kind of redundant. I like salty food, but it was pretty salty, fortunately that slaw was there to balance it out but just by itself it seemed a bit overseasoned and maybe it's the night market surcharge but was a little overpriced.

[Review #457] 2019 Yelp 100 Challenge (112/100) Vchos Truck is one of the regular food trucks on rotation at The Reserve, with a variety of offerings that's yummylicious. I tried a couple of things but my fav has been their SHRIMP & POTATO TACOS (seasoned shrimp, housemade mashed potatoes, topped with cotija cheese & house salsa in a crisp corn tortilla shell). This plate borders from satisfying to leaving me slightly hungry, depending if I ate breakfast. The shrimp & mashed potatoes are always perfectly cooked & seasoned; I just wish the ratio of shrimp:mashed potatoes sides more on the protein side. I really enjoy crunchy shell of the fried tacos... it's sealed so the ingredients stay inside, whereas a typical taco usually has some filling falling out. And the house salsa has a nice l'il kick. One of their specialties is the pupusas, with 8 different flavors to choose from, & it's served with curtido (pickled cabbage) & salsa. The cabbage adds some acidity & salsa provides some heat to the flatbread. It's a decent portion for the price. Vchos Truck is fast, friendly, & by far, one of the more consistent trucks on our campus. Most of the food trucks are quite expensive, usually over $10 a plate, Vchos is one of the more affordable trucks (items are under $10); however, the portion borders between almost enough to just right, which can leave you going hungry. Still, I'm always tempted by the crispy, crunchy shrimp & potato tacos... mmm... mmm... good! =) Recommended: Shrimp & Potato Tacos.

I went to the truck in Lakewood on Friday. The food was good but the service was bad. I made the mistake of going there on an empty stomach. I ordered 3 things and waited about 40 min to get my order meanwhile about 5 people that came after me got their orders right away. They did offer a free soda because of the wait but I would've appreciated them communicating from the beginning that the wait was going to be long because I would've opted for a different option

    Pupusa truck!

Omg the pupusas here are so bomb! For those of you who don't know, pupusas are a traditional Salvadoran dish that is made from a thick (and I mean THICK) handmade corn tortilla (masa) that is filled with whatever your heart desires. Those fillings include cheese, different varieties of meat, refried beans or veggies. I love how super cheesy and warm they are at Vchos! That first bite tasted like heaven. I could literally eat these every day for every meal! Definitely recommend getting pupusas if nothing else. Adding plantains on the side is a must too. The truck is usually around the LA area but makes appearances in Orange County like at the OC Night Market. You can easily find them through social media though, like with many other food trucks. The food is so worth it!

The worst empanada I've ever eaten

Whatever you do, stay far, far away from this truck. Horrible food. Horribly long wait times. Service isn't horrible, but it could be way better. The menu pictures make all the food look so good, unique, tasty, delicious . . . what you get is gross, boring, bland, bad food at outrageous prices. I ordered the loaded steak fries and a chicken pastelito/empanada. Total came to about $17. The empanada, per the menu, has "a savory, crunchy corn pocket loaded with seasoned chicken white meat, diced potatoes and carrots". The dough was not crunchy, barely even crispy. It was also dry and bland. The chicken was not seasoned at all, again, this was also dry and bland. What carrots? And the potatoes were more like mashed potatoes. It was like a giant chicken crouton. The cabbage slaw was crazy salty and the salsa was bland. The fries are "fully loaded with thin sirloin steak cut, melted cheese covered with our house made chipotle and guacamole sauces". No, these fries are not "fully loaded". It was an embarrassment with how little meat there was to all the fries. Mind you, these fries suck. They are soggy, salty, and cut at the worst thickness. At the very least, they got the cheese right. The steak was not "thin", rather it was chunky but it was also not "latin" whatsoever. It tasted more like teriyaki style and it was weirdly, overly sweet and did not pair well at all with the rest of the fries. The sauces too? Those sucked. Did I forget to add that we waited almost 20 minutes for the food? And the person handing out food was also handling food, while wearing gloves, we saw him texting multiple times and not change his gloves. Gross. This truck is a pathetic excuse for anything Salvadoran, let alone "latin" or central american.

Went to their VCHOS Truck 2 out in Eastvale. Saw their instagram and the food looked good, so we had to give it a try. Got the revueltas (pork, beans, and cheese) with platanos. I think this place is not bad. The ratio of the masa and the filling were pretty even. Only thing is I wish they had an equal portion of veggies. I finished all the veggies they provided for one pupusa. Without the veggies, I felt like the pupusa was missing something. Notes: If you catch them in Eastvale, they're posted in a parking lot, so keep in mind there aren't any places to sit and eat

Vegan revuelta and spinach cheese- AMAZINGGGGGGG
    Jamie C.

WOWOWOW, the folks at work have been telling me about this food truck and I am happy to report that it is every bit as good as they say! I got the vegan revuelta and spinach/cheese and they were both INCREDIBLE! I'm glad to have tried my first pupusa at VCHOs! The best way I can describe it is like a Salvadoran calzone- thick corn tortilla with delicious filing inside- fills my heart with warmth and happiness :) :) :)

We came a couple of months ago and had their loaded yucca fries with carne asada as well as some pupusas. The meat on our fries felt really low quality-- the best way I could describe it was it tasting like frozen hamburger meat-- and gave us indigestion for the rest of the night, which was really disappointing to experience. Today we unfortunately experienced some really rude service. My bf ordered a plain water and we were given a fresco ensalada (no big deal, he likes it) We don't eat pork and ordered fried yucca on its own, just yucca frita. We were given a plate of yucca con chicharron :( I told the service we just ordered yucca frita and we were told that we did not specify that for her. I explained that we don't eat pork so we sent it back and were met with a displeasing look. I said we didn't want to yucca anymore since we had a lot of food already and she said "the kitchen already made it." So I said it was fine but just the yucca this time and she came back with the same exact plate just without the chicharron-- no visible plate change. Needless to say for the price, decline in food quality, and rude service, it's not worth coming back. At least not for a while.
