It used to be a small stand, but now it's a full taco truck that pulls up Monday-Thursday from 7 PM to 11 PM. The name is Tacos El Mr., and this was my fifth time coming back. That alone should tell you how much I love this place. I ordered four al pastor tacos, and they were perfect. Loaded with meat, cilantro, onions, and limes--simple but exactly how tacos should be. And honestly? These might be the best al pastor tacos I've ever had. I've tried a lot of taco spots, and nothing compares to the flavor and smokiness of their meat. It's tender, juicy, and so flavorful that I could eat it by itself. One thing that makes this truck even better: it's family-run. The daughter (super sweet!) takes the orders while her dad and another family member cook. They even remembered me and my friend from when we first came on Halloween, which I thought was the cutest thing. While we were ordering, her dad asked if we wanted to try their birria taco--and the wild part is my friend and I had literally just been talking about trying birria. So of course we said yes. Who turns down a free taco?! And WOW. That birria taco was insane. Tender, juicy, melts-in-your-mouth, full of flavor... easily a 10/10. Tacos El Mr. truly has some of the best meat out here. Their drinks are also fire--agua frescas, hibiscus, horchata... everything hits. I would 100% recommend this truck to anyone. The food, the vibe, the people--it's all perfect. Truly out of this world. Follow them to see where they're parked next: Instagram: @tacoselmr951 TikTok: TACOS_EL.MR951 Truck Location: 3520 Tyler St, Riverside, CA Phone: (951) 410-0573

Got their mulitas last time - think mini quesadilla - which were also great! Sauces are on point. Highly recommend the al pastor. Horchata to sweeten things up.

When I take that first bite it's like a beautiful medley of flavors, heat, and textures all dancing together. I get the original recipe which is beef. They have a few currants only the beef that gives you a mild sweet surprise. They are my absolute favorite flavor. My sons love the steak and peppers, and the chicken. I haven't tried the shrimp or vegan one yet. They have around 10 different types. The service is wonderful. It's a family that sells them at Farmers Markets. They are at different Farmers markets each day. They go to the same ones each week. Also, make sure to get their home made green hot sauce. Ask for extra. They give tiny cups that aren't full and you are going to want it for every bite you take. Guaranteed to wake up your senses. Enjoy!!

I had the opportunity to check this food stand out since they are at the UC Irvine campus all week!…read moreI'm happy to see them here considering how crazy the rain has been. The clerk working the store was very friendly and offered me a sample as soon as I walked up. My concern was whether it would be crunchy-hard, since I've had empanadas in the past that were hard. I'm not a fan of hard foods (looking at you banh mi) - but the clerk noted they were all soft and the sample proved that. I ordered a Mushroom ($4), Chicken ($4) and Beef Steak ($5) - each empanada was perfectly portioned, slightly crunchy/golden brown on the outside, but soft and doughy on the inside, with generous fillings. These taste similar to the chalupas you can get at Taco Bell (just better quality). The mushroom was probably my favorite one - with chunks of mushroom in a nice, cheesy blend. Each bite was perfect - and the melted cheese texture also complimented the meatless option. The quality of the chicken filling wasn't the best - it reminded me of a Hot Pocket - was forgettable as the bits were dry and flavorless. The beef steak option was great - full of chunks of beef steak, onions, tomatoes and some sort of salsa sauce inside. It made each bite full of flavor and delicious. The clerk gave me two containers of the green sauce - which is the perfect compliment to the empanadas - not too spicy, mild but with just enough of a kick to it. Be sure to ask for these instead of jalapenos. The food stand took cash and had a sign that indicated they accept credit cards as well. Prices are reasonable for the quality, portion size and fillings of the food.
