Came here for dinner and ordered 3 dishes for 2 people; the dishes were quite lunch. The fried rice has a lot of shrimps and the green beans were also tasty, but disappointed in the pork chips bc it's a little dried and not flavorful... We ordered orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, and house chow mein. Entrees come with streamed rice. Orange Chicken- The chicken breading is nice and crisp while remaining tender inside. The sauce is a wonderful blend of sweet, tangy, with a light kick. The orange flavor is strong. Honey Walnut Shrimp- Always served fresh with juicy shrimp and a generous amount of the honey walnut sauce. You get a side of broccoli and shredded cabbage on your plate. House Chow Mein- The chow mein sauce is rich and flavorful. Noodles are perfectly chewy. You get a combination of different meats with it and a generous amount of vegetables. The food is so fresh and the prices are great. They also have lunch specials Tues-Fri 11-3 PM. We got dinner A for $31.95 we were able to substitute the Mongolian beef for sweet-and-sour pork for only $2 extra. It came with 2 cheese wonton, 2 egg rolls and your choice of egg flower soup or sweet-and-sour soup so much food it could actually feed 3 people. The service is very friendly. The lady and the man that serve, you are so polite and kind and friendly and very accommodating and helpful. The food was top-notch delicious fresh hot and so yummy. The vibe in the restaurant is clean and chill and cool. They play great music there. I believe it was a jasmine iced tea was delicious. They serve them in the big mason jars you get a big cold glass of iced tea. It was delicious. The food was yummy. Took mom here for lunch and we both enjoyed it. I had hot and sour soup, and it had the perfect amount of heat. My mom loved her egg drop soup. Came in around lunch time on a Friday. I was seated and served promptly. I went with the kung pao lunch special, which came with a soup, eggroll, and entree. I started with the hot and sour soup, which was a bit lighter than I was accustomed to; regardless the soup had a nice flavor and thick-ish consistency that i was hoping for. The kung pao were both piping hot and was exactly what I had expected(slight spice, umami brown sauce, crisp carrots and zuchinni, and tender chicken). Where I think Royal Wok excels is the value, normally lunch specials come with reduced portions, but I was amazed at how large the portion was, given the price. If you're looking for authentic Chinese food and you're in Anaheim/Tustin area, this is the place to be. Service was excellent- they delivered the food fast. Egg rolls were okay albeit greasy. Pan fried noodles w/ chicken, tasted fishy and had an off taste. Smelled fishy too. Orange chicken was rough and had a rancid strange taste to it. Lots of food but expensive. The man who was in charge of to go orders had no personality. Expensive $48 for two dishes and four egg rolls. They even charge for the crispy fried wonton strips which were rancid and flavorless, soaked up too much oil. We won't be back. We ate our egg rolls, ate about 20% of our meal and trashed the rest. The ambiance is welcoming and the service was pretty good, considering that it appeared as if there were only two people running front of house. But the food was delicious!! It started with a basket of crispy wonton chips served with what I believe was a homemade apple-plum dipping sauce. (To those who may know, it reminded me very much of the Magic Wok in Brea, which had been my favorite Chinese restaurant for years before it closed!!) Came on a Tuesday and we were the only people at the restaurants. We had a group of 8 and was seated quickly. First off, the prices on the dishes were quite reasonable TBH. Before ordering they came with 2 plates of fried wonton skins with sweet and sour sauce. (These were tasty). We placed our orders and totally overordered but here are my thoughts. Hot & Sour Soup - It's okay. It lacked being hot or sour. Its mid. (3/5) Egg Flower Soup - It's better than the hot and sour. Not bad overall good. (4/5) Orange Chicken - I really enjoyed this one. Chicken was big chunks and it tasted very fresh. (4.5/5) Shrimp w/ Lobster Sauce - A pretty decent dish especially when eaten with white rice. I enjoyed it overall. (4/5) Peking Duck - This wasn't on the menu but it was advertised on the board at front. Price isn't labeled but it's $55.95 for the dish. It was actually delicious though and if you feel like spending this dish is worth it. We paid $7 for 6 extra steam buns. (5/5) Broccoli Beef - Simple dish, and it's how you'd expect. It's good. (4/5) Basil Chicken - Not on the menu but it was advertised at front board. It's good, nothing spectacular and its pretty basic. (4/5) Sautéed Spicy String Beans - I've had better string beans at other places but these aren't too bad. Simple (3.5/5) Szechuan Eggplant - It's not bad either but I've also had better. Wok didn't seem super hot like other places. (4/5) Honey Walnut Shrimp - Loved this and it was delicious. Walnuts had a lot of flavors and the shrimp was cooked well. (5/5) Overall I enjoyed this spot and the food was pretty good. Some dishes were top tier while others were average. I have had takeout from here on two occasions. The food tasted great, was ready when promised and everything was hot. We got the family dinner. Combo C. This came with egg rolls, cream cheese wontons, black pepper beef, honey walnut shrimp, orange chicken, mixed vegetable chicken, fried rice, fortune cookies, etc.. We also had an order of the house chow mein. Everything tasted great. The meat was tender and the vegetables tasted fresh. I especially liked the honey walnut shrimp and the orange chicken. The food was a great value. The portions were so generous we got multiple meals from this one order. When I picked up the food, the staff were very friendly. The restaurant looked very clean. This is a little place in a strip mall. Very nice and clean inside. We got seated right away. I think we came after lunch time rush. The waiter was super nice. Loved the service he brought us what i thought was chips and salsa and I was a bit confused.. till I saw it was fried wonton chips amps with sweet n sour dip and the yellow Wasabi sauce. That was awesome! Prices were good and the food was good. I will be honest, the kung pow chicken was a bit too sweet and not enough heat for my taste, and the BBQ pork appetizer was a little sweet for my daughter as well, but all in all we would for sure come again. I've been battling a bit of a head cold and felt like having some wor wonton soup - and as usual, Yelp did me a solid and brought up Royal Wok. I called in my order and sent my hubby to pick up my soup. It was ready super fast, and my hubby said that the guy that helped him was real friendly! When I got my soup, it was just how I like it - super hot and it was packed with lots of goodies - a good amount of chicken & shrimp, plus lots of veggies. And the broth was very tasty! I wish I had taken a picture of it, because I had noticed that there were no pics on Yelp of their wor won ton soup. I guess I might have to order it again sometime soon. I ordered a medium and it was a good portion - which I was actually able to share some with my hubby! And he enjoyed it so much, that he suggested that we order dinner from them tonight. Ordered multiple plates for two and it gave us plenty of leftovers. They started us with complimentary wonton chips which were nice and crispy with a great sweet and sour sauce. Then we tried both the egg drop and sweet and sour soup. The egg soup had great consistency and taste! The sweet and sour came with radish slices which gave it a great texture. Main courses: Orange chicken was the star of the show! It was perfectly crispy! It came with small slices of orange and the taste was sweet and mildly spicy. The walnut shrimp was great; I felt it overly saucy but my partner loved it. Lastly, we had the chow mein. It was solid but we both felt it was missing a little something. I don't understand all these positive reviews. Everything was super bland... the hot and sour soup had no mushrooms, no vinegar taste, barely any bamboo shoots, and bland. Egg foo young was weird, bland, and not what I'm used to. I asked for white rice and received old dry and hardened rice. I wouldn't eat the food here if it was free. For me it's been difficult to find old fashioned Chop Suey, like the ones featured in the old time Chop Suey houses in the Chinatowns in Chicago and Los Angeles. It was here and I wanted to try it. Another wonderful experience at Royal Wok! This mom and pop restaurant is always accommodating for our large group. We make reservations just in case, but it has never been a problem. The food is top notch. Everything we've ordered has been delicious and the quantity of food has been plentiful. I always forget to take photos because the food disappears as soon as they deliver it to the table. The crispy dishes remain crispy, even after the sauces are added. Our go to dishes include Honey walnut shrimp, orange beef, salt and pepper pork chop, sauteed spring beans, House pan fried noodle, and House fried rice. Their mural on the wall, "Good Vibes Only" really describes this family owned and operated restaurant. I been waiting to try this place. I decided place an order online for 2 small soups. I get there and it's busy, I'm not greeted by the waiters passing by. Again I understand they are extremely busy but a simple, we will be right with you", would took seconds. I stop a lady told her I placed an online order 15 minutes ago. She goes and checks and doesn't ever come back. As I'm waiting like an idiot at the bar, I try get a waiter attention and he going out of his way to ignore me. The alarming part was he grabbed a glass to pour a beer, instead pouring fresh beer from the draft he grabs a metal square dish that been collecting drippings of beer which I'm assuming flat. Pour it into the glass!! And tops it off with a bit of draft beer. If that's what they do in the front where people can see I wonder what they do in the back. I immediately walk out! This took place on 5/27/26 exactly 7:45. To the huge crowds that was in there one of you got the flat beer. read more

Whenever I'm in the mood for a vegetarian meal, I want Royal Wok's Szechuan Eggplant. EXCELLENT. It's a generous portion, the heat is just right, and there are a good variety of vegetables. Let me preface this review by saying one thing: I rarely leave a bad review for a business or even call businesses back to complain. In fact, this is the one and only review I have ever made on Yelp. So, this must have been spectacularly bad food for me to leave a review. At any Chinese restaurant, I order the chicken and broccoli. Any seasoned Chinese takeout veteran will tell you that the chicken is browned/seared, the broccoli is blanched, and this is combined in a brown savory sauce. There are certainly variations on this recipe, but the menu has no description of this dish, so naturally I assume this will be the case. Imagine my surprise when the delivery driver walks INTO my house (which I don't think should be allowed?) after an hour (!) of waiting to drop off my boiled (!) chicken and broccoli. There is no sauce. There is no seasoning. And the chicken certainly is not stir fried or browned at all. As I spent twenty of my hard-earned dollars on this disgrace of a dish, I call the restaurant to voice my concerns. The worker tells me that this is, in fact, my fault. I did not read their mind and ask for brown sauce on the side, so now I am stuck with this dish unless I get into my imaginary car and come down to the restaurant to collect this brown sauce. If I had a car, I certainly would not have ordered delivery. Now I'm here, stuck with this dish that could have been recreated with $5 and a pot with water. I have absolutely never, ever visited a Chinese restaurant where brown sauce is not implied and the chicken is boiled. In addition,I have never been met with such condescension on the phone. Eating from this restaurant is essentially like throwing money down the drain. I especially expect better food and service from a restaurant with 4.6 stars on Yelp in Orange County of all places, which is a Mecca of incredible food. I fear that even 1 star is too high of a rating for this place. In addition to my money back, I want the time back that I just wasted on this restaurant. The owners don't give a damn about your health! I ordered 4 dishes today and SPECIFICALLY emphasized that I have a severe nut allergy to both peanuts and tree nuts. I have bad anaphylaxis, have had to go to the ER 6 times and keep several Epi-Pens with me. I asked them to PLEASE try to avoid any kind of cross-contamination and to ensure that none of the dishes I ordered have any nuts in them. What happens when I get home? My beef and broccoli had peanuts in it! They clearly used the same wok to cook that in without properly cleaning it from the dish they made before...probably a Kung pao dish. The Szechuan Eggplant dish that i ordered had Chestnuts in it! I asked if any of my dishes had any nuts, I was reassured that they didn't. I called to complain, the lady who took my order had a very flippant, "I don't give a crap" attitude and tone over the phone. That's when I truly realized that they didn't care. If you can't respect the health of your customers because you are too lazy to keep them safe from food allergies, then you don't deserve their business.
